As of this writing, this company has produced two commerical games, Catechumen and Ominous Horizons. Both of these games are first-person shooters. Catechumen is a Christian-themed game, so its primary audience is presumably Christian gamers. Because of this one might think that Catechumen cannot stack up to the other shooters of its day such as Quake or Duke Nukem. While it is not as good as those games, Catechumen is still a fairly decent game. If you can find it, it might be worth a look. Of course if you're actually reading this guide, you probably already own the game and want to move on to the part where I explain how to beat it. It is the center line on your HUD. You will find shields with crosses on them in various levels; these are the items that refill your Armor of God. Scrolls The Scrolls refill your health (called faith in the game). Your faith is indicated by the top line in your HUD and can be refilled by finding scrolls scattered throughout the stages. They contain little Bible verses that can be read on the pause screen. Swords Your weapons. The "ammunition" you have left is indicated by the bottom bar on the HUD. Weapons (1) Spirit Sword Your most basic weapon. Shoots a weak projectile, but requires no ammo. (2) Gold Sword Essentially this is just like your Spirit Sword, but it allows for rapid fire. It requires ammunitiong, however, so don't lay in on the trigger for too long. (3) Drill Sword This sword fires a single, red laser. Each shot is worth about three shots from the Spirit Sword. Much more useful than the Gold Sword, you will probably be relying on this sword a lot. (4) Lightning Sword As its name implies, this sword fires a continuous bolt of electricity. A single shot does little damage, but if you fire continously on a target you will kill it soon enough. It will harm all enemies near its epicenter, so it is best used when fighting a large group of enemies. (5) Solomon Scepter Essentially an enhanced Drill Sword, the Solomon Scepter fires a single shot that does three times the damage of the Drill Sword. Save it for tough enemies and don't waste your ammo on enemies like Imps or Microdemons. (6) Tri-Repeater A machine gun-esque weapon. It consumes little ammo per shot, but does little damage per shot. Use it in place of the Gold Sword. (7) Moses Staff The game's ubber weapon. Safe it for the toughest enemies. Be wary, however, for the explosion this weapon makes can hurt you too. (8) Gabriel's Sword Called the Beam Sword in the manual. This sword is the ultimate weapon to be found in Catechumen. It has rapid-fire, low ammo consumption, and deals considerable damage. There is also no explosive backfire to worry about, making it a must-have for the last few stages. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----[ Walkthrough ]----------------------------------------------------[WKTH]- Rome, 171 AD While an empire rules above ground, a battle rages in the catacombs. Your photizomenoi (illumined teacher), keeper of the Ancient Secret, has been captured along with the Brethren. Prove your worth in the Colosseum and take a stand in the battle between Good and Evil. You are the Initiate to the Realm of Sacred Mysteries. You are the Catechumen. _______________ | The Parthenon |______________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Roman Centurion | | New Weapons: Spirit Sword | |______________________________________________________________________________| Begin by grabbing the key in the opening area. Find the only exit out of this area and enter the courtyard. The Romans out here won't attack you until you get the Spirit Sword, so don't worry about them. Use the key to open the door on the right side of the patio. An angel will appear in this room and give you the Spirit Sword. This weapon fires a weak projectile, but it has infinite ammo. Walk through the door and up the short stairway. The Roman Centurions are the first enemies you'll encounter. Considering the accomplishments of the Roman Empire, recruitment practices must have gone a little lax during the time of Catechumen. The Roman Centurions' only method of attack seems to be to run up to you and grab you. This takes off a small bit of your health. Once this happens, they let go and stand around for a few seconds before trying anything again. If they attack in pairs they can be dangerous because if two of them touch you at the same time it's instant death. They take three or four hits, depending on the difficulty, from your Spirit Sword to finish off. When they "die," they fall to their knees and start praying, possibly blocking your path. If this happens, run backwards into the level. After you get a certain distance away from them, they will disappear. Clear them out of this hallway and take the first right as you entered. Walk to the back of the room and a false floor will drop you down below. From here you can go left or right. Left takes you back to the room where you met the angel, so go right instead. Take the first right to enter a small storage area. Kill the two Romans and claim the key there. Follow the original path here to return to the hallway where you first fought the Romans. Take the first left and follow the stairs up. Open the locked door you eventually come to and proceed down the hallway. Drop down the stairs and kill the Roman waiting for you. Take the left door and deal with the two Romans in the anteroom at the end of this hallway. Open the big door to enter a large room with statues of the Caesars. Kill the three Romans and claim the key. Return to the bottom of the stairwell and take the righthand door you skipped before. Open it with the key and follow the path through the cellar. Dispath the two Romans along the way and proceed to the exit. _______________ | The Bathhouse |______________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Imp, Roman Centurion | | New Weapons: Gold Sword | |______________________________________________________________________________| This is a fairly short level. Begin by kicking out the crate blocking your path and move into the antechamber. An archangel will appear and give you the Gold Sword. Open the door and move into the baths where a single Imp will be waiting for you. The Imps are actually even weaker than the Roman Centurions. These small demons are just below your sword's normal firing position, so you'll have to look downwards to shoot at them. Their basic method of attack is to charge you like the Romans do, except that the Imps do not freeze you in place when they grab you nor can two of them kill you outright. Sometimes they will fire small fireballs at you from afar, but more often than not they will try to charge you. They take about the same number of hits to finish off as the Centurions. Kill the Imp and claim some ammo in the far pool. Open the big door and enter a large room. The door on the right has more health and ammo, as do the corners of this room, but is housing a half dozen enemies. Kill the enemies now, but save the power-ups until you need them. Open the left door and proceed up the stairs. Fight your way down the hallway and take the right door to get your first Armor of God. Return to the hall and take the other door. Drop all the way down, killing the demons as you go, and open the door near the boiler. Approach the pipe wheel to turn it and cut off the water in another pool room. Return to the big area and go through the middle door. Open the door dead-ahead and claim the key inside. This room was locked because of the water, but since you cut it off it is now open. Exit the room. To your right is an area with health and ammo, but enemies as well. Your ultimate goal is to go left, however, and fight your way to a steel crating. Use the key to open this and complete the stage. ____________ | The Temple |_________________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Imp, Minor Devil | | New Weapons: Drill Sword | |______________________________________________________________________________| Grab the sword from the angel and drop down the stairs. Follow the hallway to a door. Open this and prepare to let loose with your new weapon. The Drill Sword deals roughly three times the damage per shot as your previous two weapons. Four Imps will be waiting just on the other side of the door, so cut them down as they try to charge you. Once they're gone, enter the room and move to the next door. Kill the Imp there and prepare to face an enemy more deadly than the two you've encountered thus far. At the bottom of the stairs awaits a Minor Devil. There is nothing "minor" about these monstrosities. While they do not have a projectile attack, these things move with lightning speed and can dodge your shots after you've fired them. They take about nine shots from your Spirit Sword to take down, or about three from the Drill Sword. Do not let them get close to you. They are quite vicious and will reduce you form full health to death in a matter of seconds. Try to gun them down from afar if you can, and do not stop moving while you are fighting. At the bottom of the stairs is a central area that fans out to four different rooms. You will need to go through all of these rooms, but in what order is up to you. In each there lies an artifact you need to bring back here and put in place along the wall (the darkened areas shaped like different objects). Here are descriptions for each room: Go left from the stairs and then take the left door in the hallway to move to a room with a large tombstone. Pass the tombstone and find a small crating on the wall. Open this and crouch down. Move through here to come to an area with a lot of strange shadows. Kill the Imps, then you can tackle this odd area. The shadows on the floor are actually indicating where walls are. The trident artifact is in the far left corner, so navigate through the shadow maze to this area and claim the trident. Bring it back to the central room and place it in its spot. Go left from the stairs and then take the right door in the hallway to move to a room with a large tombstone. Pass the tombstone and find a small crating on the wall. Open this and crouch down. Move through here to come to an area with a lot of beams running back and forth down a long hallway. You need to walk across these beams, dropping from one to the next, until you come to the end of the passage. Imps are station in small alcoves throughout this room, so always look ahead and take them out before they shoot you off the sides. At the end of the passage is a pair of metal shoes. Grab these and return them to their place in the central room. Go right from the stairs and then take the left door in the hallway to move to a room with a large tombstone. Pass the tombstone and find a small crating on the wall. Open this and crouch down. Move through here to come to an open area with the eagle artifact in plain view. Grab this and turn around to realize there is no apparent way out of here. To get out, push the big box (the default Push Key is 'P') right up next to the broken stairs you dropped off of to get here. Now push the medium-sized block up next to it. Lastly push the small box next to this one. Jump up this makeshift stairwell and return the eagle to its place in the central room. Go right from the stairs and then take the right door in the hallway to move to a room with a large tombstone. Pass the tombstone and find a small crating on the wall. Open this and crouch down. Move through here to come to an area with two Minor Devils. Kill these and move into the antechamber to claim the shield. Bring it back to the central room and place it in its proper spot. Once you have all four artifacts in place, open the door to proceed to the next stage. _______________ | The Colosseum |______________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Imp, Lion, Minor Devil, Roman Centurion | | New Weapons: none | |______________________________________________________________________________| Walk up the ramp and duck into the small hole you find. Enter the arena and go through the far left door. Fight through the Romans and enter the only unlocked door. Push the boxes around so you can use them as stairs to get to the key on top of the wooden platform. Use this key to open the locked door where the Romans were. There's a Minor Devil that will try to kill you here. Defeat it and move on to find another box puzzle. Again, push the boxes so you can get to this next key. Return to the main arena with this new key. A Lion should be waiting for you. These beasts have only one form of attack, a charge. They will leap at you continuously. Let loose with some fire and keep on the move. They take a lot of hits, but they will eventually go down. Enter the middle-left door to find some cells. Pass them and drop into a small chamber. Push one of the small barrells up to the key and jump up to grab it. Now push some of the larger barrells over to the stairs and use them to climb out of this room. Open the cell containing the captive Christian and approach him. He'll say some things, then pass by him and push the box out of the way in the back of his cell to find some armor. Return to the main arena and kill the new lion waiting for you. The middle-right door is your next area of operation, so enter it and move through until you come to a fork. Going right leads to a stairwell with some Imps. If you kill them you can move to the bottom room it leads to and open a secret chamber in the left corner. Inside is some health. You will need to go left to finish the level. Move through this hall and open the next door to reveal some Romans. Gun them down and move in towards the cell block. Around the corner in the left cell are two more Romans. Carefully lure them out and kill them before they can grab you. In the middle right cell is a Minor Devil. Open the cell, kill the demon, and claim some needed ammo. Move to the end of the cell block and continue into a new block. Kill the Imps that attack and drop down the stairs. The exit is the large door flanked by two statues. It's guarded by two Minor Devils. Kill them and proceed to the exit. ____________ | The Prison |_________________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Imp, Lion, Minor Devil, Roman Centurion | | New Weapons: Lightning Sword | |______________________________________________________________________________| Follow the hall to a circular area. Enter the middle door to find two Romans. Kill them and then push some blocks up to the wooden shelf to reach the key. Use this to open the lefthand door in this room and reveal two more Romans. Get rid of them and move into the next room. The left door has the next key, while the right door has an angry Roman. Grab the key and return to the circular area. You'll see a door on the backside of the central pillar as you exit. Enter here and move down the stairs. This next area is a loop, but one room contains two very nasty Minor Devils you want to avoid at all costs. Take the left route and kill the two Imps waiting there. Grab the key and keep moving until you come to a large door. On the other side is a large room filled with Imps. Open the door and pick off the Imps from atop the stairs. You should be able to take most of them out without any realizing you're there. Once they're gone, collect the ammo and enter the righthand door. Grab the key and flip the lever. Open the door and dispatch the two Romans on the other side. Move to the next cell block and dispatch the Romans there. Move through here and flip the switch on the other side of the door. Do not enter the next door, but instead return to the cell block and talk to the Christian whom you've set free. Once he's done talking, return to the circular area from the exact route that you came in to avoid the Minor Devils. Enter the left door and proceed into a room with a pit. Move around the edge and look down. You'll find a Lion, so pick it off from safety. Once it is dead, move around to the back of the room and use that bridge to claim the armor. The first bridge you see will fall if you try and cross it, making life miserable if that Lion is still alive. Return to the circular area and take the right door. Climb the stairs and walk around the walkway to another door. Inside are three Minor Devils, so take a deep breath and take the plunge. Hopefully you still have some Drill Sword ammo left to fight with. Once they're gone, climb the ladder inside the tower to the top. Collect the ammo on both ends and drop down the stairs to meet a new angel. He'll give you a new weapon. Grab it and duck into the small black hole to move on to the next stage. ______________ | The Barracks |_______________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Imp, Minor Devil | | New Weapons: none | |______________________________________________________________________________| Walk down the decline and cross over the lava. Refill your health and weapons 'cause you're going to need it. Walk around the pillar and down the hall to come to the former troop barracks. It is now overrun with Imps. By overrun, I mean there are five or six dozen of the monsters. Let loose with your Drill Sword and Lighting Sword. When you run low on ammo or health, fall back and pick up any you may not have needed when you passed by the pillar area earlier. There is also health down the lefthand hallway at the far end of the cots. Run down the hall there to find a lot of health for the taking. There is also a door that leads to an upper room overlooking a pit area. When you get a chance, look down from here and gun down the Minor Devil below. Once all the Imps are gone, enter the righthand door and follow the hallway until you get to the first door you can take. Enter here and claim the armor (if you killed the Minor Devil it should be unguarded). Take the next door in here to a new room. Kill the demons there and enter the door at the top of the incline. Two minor Devils and four Imps await here. Finish them off and then move to the left side. Look for some pegs sticking out of the wall and jump up them. At the top, follow the hallway to the roof of the tower. Snipe the demon firing at you across the way, then cross the rope bridge. Move to the tunnel and run down it to the exit. ______________________ | Royal Burial Chamber |_______________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Imp, Microdemon, Minor Devil | | New Weapons: none | |______________________________________________________________________________| This place isn't so bad. Move forward through the door and turn right. Kill the Imps and then hit the switch on the wall to open the door in this room. Enter and collect the health, then hit the switch. Return to the last room and "open" the inclined area. Drop inside and follow the tunnels to the right. You'll soon come to a new room. Drop down the incline to have your first run-in with the Microdemons. These things flutter about, but are largely a nonthreat. Switch to your Spirit Sword and gun them down (they take a single shot apiece). Kill the Minor Devil that's around as well. Enter the door, but take note that there are three demons directly above you. Look up and back into the room. Fire at the demons and take them down before they can kill you. Once they're gone, hit the switch by the coffins and return back up the incline. Open the door, now unlocked, and move to the right. Hit the switch here and then move down the tunnels, killing the Imps as you go. Enter the door at the end to come to a round room. Follow the rim around to a door and enter it to claim some armor. Drop down to the ground and hit the two switches. This opens one door that will take you back to the round room. Return there and crawl through a small opening along the floor. Follow the tunnel until you come to your first offshoot. Go down here to claim some armor, then return to the tunnels and continue to the door at the top of the stairs. Kill the demons in this room, then drop to the floor. Hit the switch and enter the only door you can. Follow this hallway to the exit. ________________________ | Abandoned Construction |_____________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Guard Devil, Imp, Microdemon | | New Weapons: Solomon's Scepter | |______________________________________________________________________________| Listen to the angel and claim Solomon's Scepter. This weapon does three times the damage of the Drill Sword, which you will need to take down the Guard Devils. These new demons act just like Imps, but they're three times the size and can take three times the punishment. Luckily Solomon's Scepter kills them one shot. Don't waste your ammo on the Imps though, or you may be sorry later. Follow the opening to some construction from the angel. Dispatch the Guard Devils and then go through the door that looks like it's bolted. Walk along the rafters to the ammo, then drop down and kill the demons below. When they're gone, move to the ornate door. On the other side, move to the righthand building and climb the ramp up. Look to the upper left side to spot some Imps. Gun them down, then cross over to the next building. Drop down the two holes and crawl down the tunnel. Climb the ramp you find up and jump to the armor. From here drop down to the bridge that is connected to the uppermost door by a ramp. Climb this to the next room. In here you can proceed in two ways; either by dropping into the water in the red building, or by climbing up to the uppermost hole at the far end. Both lead to the same place, so I recommend the red building. Either way, swim until you come to an incline that takes you to some construction. Run down the only way you can go, ignoring the Guard Devils that fire from behind you. Eventually you'll come to a big room with Imps on scaffolding up above you. Shoot them down, then move to the ramp in the far corner. Climb this and enter the tunnel. Push the boulder down, jump the hole it falls into, and then move to the exit. _______________ | The Catacombs |______________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Guard Devil, Microdemon, Minotaur, Minor Devil, Sapper Demon | | New Weapons: Tri-Repeater | |______________________________________________________________________________| Time for your first boss battle, but unlike some games you got to get there first. Just like in Greek legend, the Minotaur is hidden deep inside a maze. This place is such that you could just wander aimlessly and eventually figure out where to go, but the point of a walkthrough is to prevent you from doing that kind of thing. As such, I have constructed a map of this labrynth. It is posted here on GameFAQs, so I suggest you use it to find the keys and doors you need to in order to complete this stage. Use the map to locate the first key and any ammo or health you might need, then move on to the face the boss. As for that boss, the Minotaur can be handled quite easily. Once you open the first locked door, walk into the narrow hallway and approach the opening, but do not step into the Minotaur's arena. The Minotaur will start firing fireballs from its horns, so back up back into the hallway and aim for the opening with your Solomon's Scepter. The Minotaur will charge the opening, but is too big to fit inside. Fire away when it is stuck in the opening. You'll eventually drive it back, but it will simply charge right back at the door. It takes almost all the ammo of the Solomon's Scepter to kill, but from the hallway you should be relatively safe for the fight. Once it is dead, grab the key and make your way to the other locked door. Follow the tunnel until you come to a new angel and claim the Tri-Repeater. From there, step to the exit to move on. __________________ | Underground Farm |___________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Microdemon, Sapper Demon | | New Weapons: none | |______________________________________________________________________________| Step through the initial tunnel and kill the Microdemons waiting at the end. Drop into the water for some health, then cross the bridge and continue down the tunnel. You'll spot a house, inside of which are two Sapper Demons. The Sapper Demons attack in only one manner, by suicide charging right at you and exploding when they get close enough. Killing one will make it explode as well, so keep your distance at all times. You can deal with these demons in one of two ways: either lay into them with your Tri-Repeater or Lightning Sword from afar, or you run at them and then pull back quickly as they begin to ignite. The first method is the easier of the two, but if you can get the technique down the second method can save ammo and time. To get to the armor, climb atop the entrance to this area and walk along the upper ledge to the roof of the house. Grab the armor, then drop down into the water. Open the large door and swim to the next cavern. More Sapper Demons await inside the house here. Deal with them, then use the stepping blocks on the far wall to get to the upper ledge. Move around on it until a passage opens up. Follow this to the top and clear out the next cavern of Microdemons. Collect any ammo you need, then follow the righthand tunnel onwards. Be wary when you reach the ladder, for a Sapper Demon will drop down right on top of you. Climb the ladder and move forward to a pig pen guarded by two more Sapper Demons. Dispath them and follow the next tunnel to a house surrounded by more Microdemons. Kill them and enter the house, noting that a Sapper Demon awaits you on the second floor. Exit through the tunnel on the second floor. One last Sapper Demon is at the far end, so gun him down before he has a chance to reach you. Follow this tunnel to some water and take a dive. Swim down and collect the health and ammo, then follow the passageway to the next room. Swim up and use the ladder to get to the upper tunnel. Follow it up to a flock of Microdemons. You can fight them, but I recommend running through them and across the bridge. Approach the next tunnel to exit the level and make the enemies vanish. ______________ | Lava Tunnels |_______________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Hound of Hell, Microdemon, Werewolf | | New Weapons: Moses Staff | |______________________________________________________________________________| Oh boy, this is the most complicated place you've yet encountered. Before we even get into how to beat it, let's examine the challenges you'll face here. There are two new types of enemies you'll face here, the Hounds of Hell and the Werewolves. Both are connected in that Werewolves produce Hounds of Hell, but it takes two different approaches to deal with each: First, the Werewolves. Not only do these things take a ton of hits to kill, but they can endlessly produce Hounds of Hell too. They also have an extremely brutal laser attack that will reduce your health to zero in no time flat. Your best bet for dealing with them is to switch to the Tri-Repeater and just lay into them. For some reason, if you keep up your fire on them they won't attack or respond. The Hounds of Hell are a real pain. They move faster than any other regular enemy and will charge straight at you. They are built like tanks and can take more punishment than you'd think. If you try to fight them, you will run out of ammo in no time at all. Instead your best option is to just run. Since it takes a Werewolf to produce them, your best bet is to find the source of the problem and kill it instead. There are also four Microdemons here in one area. Deal with them in whatever manner you deal with the others before. Personally I like to use the Spirit Sword to save some ammo, but if you like to use something else, go for it. I've created a second map for this level. Refer to it to make it through this hellhole, but I will provide a general overview here. Begin by rushing forward through the first tunnel. Have the Tri-Repeater equipped and as soon as you see the Werewolf in the first large room (he's atop the upper ledge), begin firing. If you're lucky, he won't have time to produce a Hound of Hell. Move to the left tunnel and take the first right. Crouch and duck through the small opening ahead on the right and follow the decline down. Kill the four Microdemons at the bottom and climb up the circling platforms. Follow the passageway at the top to a switch. Hit this and return to the small opening that you entered this area from. Crawl out and move straight ahead. You'll come out on a ledge above a Christian, whom the switch has set free, guarded by a Werewolf. Gun down the Werewolf from the ledge, then drop down and talk to the Christian. He'll give you a key and wish you well. Take the passage directly in front of the the ledge you dropped off. Follow it to a room with a bunch of lava potholes. Navigate through them and into the next passage. Take the first right and follow it to a door. Open the door and run to the next door inside, ignoring the Werewolf. Follow this tunnel to an angel. The angel will block the path so that the demons cannot follow you. She will then present you with the Moses Staff, the game's ubber weapon. Take it and proceed forward to the exit. ____________ | Giant Cave |_________________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Castle Guard, Gargoyle, Guard Devil Microdemon, Minotaur, Werewolf | | New Weapons: none | |______________________________________________________________________________| This level can be tough, especially if you don't have much health at the start, but really isn't too bad once you get into it. Begin by opening the door and crossing the bridge over the lava. From here you will encounter the solitary Gargoyle of this level. Climb up the ladder, noting that the Gargoyle will likely jump down at you before you get to the top. When you see it, move to the side and let it fall past you. Race to the top and get away from the ladder opening. The Gargoyle fires shots that take off about half of your health, so avoiding it is your best option. You will likely repeat this part of the level several times before you make it through alive. Save as soon as you pass it successfully. Open the next door and climb the ladder to face some Microdemons. Walk down the passage and look into the pit at the end. Shoot the Guard Devil from here and then drop in. Outside are three Guard Devils and a veritable flock of Microdemons waiting to kill you. Strafe and hide, or whatever your style is for handling these guys, and take them out. Collect the ammo and health, then move down the tunnel inside one of the doors. (You cannot yet access the main gate.) At the end of the tunnel are some more Microdemons. Kill them, then get the armor in the left corner. From there move to the ledge and jump to the cave containing some more health. Down below, you'll note, is a Castle Guard. Castle Guards carry clubs, which like your swords fire laser and are not used in the manner you'd think. They're not too strong, but they have rapid-fire clubs so you need to take them out quickly. Use either the Gold Sword or Tri- Repeater to take them down quickly before they can do too much damage. Walk down the decline and move to the opening in the stone wall. Climb the ladder and walk across the walkway. Drop down the pit and move around the corner to run into your old friend the Minotaur. When you spot him, drop back into your section of the hallway and position yourself so you can strafe out and hit him a few times, then strafe back to safety when he fires his shots off. Eventually he'll grow tired of this and charge at you. When this happens, just lay into him with the Solomon's Scepter or Moses Staff. Back up while you do, decreasing his accuracy with his shots. If you keep firing he won't be able to charge, meaning your only worries are the fireballs he sends at you. Eventually he'll go down and you can continue onwards. Take the first right. Cross the bridge over the lava and ignore the armor. It can be reached with precision jumping from the side opposite the bridge, but more likely than not you will fall in the lava and die. Continue along the only path available. When you come to a door, enter it and take out the two Castle Guards on the other side. Collect any ammo you need and move on through the cave. Follow the tunnel and drop down a pit. Continue on and kill the two Castle Guards across the bridge. Cross the bridge and climb the ladder. Look for the side that has the switch and drop to it. Hit the switch and climb back out. Drop off the other side to return to the main gate. Make you way back to where the Minotaur was, but this time go straight. Climb the ladder and look for the side with a ladder leading off the side at the top. Drop down there, hit the switch, and climb back out. Drop off the other side and prepare to fight a Werewolf. Kill it and move through the now opened main gate. Approach the ornate door and enter it to exit the level. ____________________ | Conversion Chamber |_________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Gargoyle, Guard Devil, Hound of Hell, Lion, Microdemon, | | Minor Devil, Roman Centurion, Werewolf | | New Weapons: none | |______________________________________________________________________________| In the quasi-futuristic room, move to the door with a green button beside it. Touch the button to open the door and move inside. Kill the Microdemons in the next room. The gravity in this room is light, allowing you to jump to the ceiling. Along the ceiling and in the overhangs are ammo and health. Collect these and move to the ramp along the right side. Follow this path to the next room. Here you'll find some Guard and Minor Devils. Kill them and move up the stairs. Follow the railing to a door. Enter it and climb the spiral staircase upwards. Move down the hallway and into the next room. Kill the Werewolf and Microdemons, avoiding the holes in the floor as you do. You can walk into the red beam coming from the demonic eye to find some health. When you're done, move to the ramp on the left and follow the stairs down. At the bottom you'll find three Guard Devils. Kill them and move to the door in this room. Open the door and wait for the Gargoyle to awaken. When it does, back up and switch to your Lightning Sword. Wait for the Gargoyle to try and open the door, then fire away. It will curl up into a ball as you hit it. When it's dead enter the room and take the door on the left. (The door on the right, if you're curious, takes you back to the beginning of the level.) Follow the hallway to find the Minotaur ready for round three. Run into the room and up the stairs to the Roman patio. Hide behind the pillars and start firing at the Minotaur between them. Most of the Minotaur's fireballs will be stopped by the pillars, while all of his attempts to charge will be blocked by that solid Italian marble. He'll go down just like before, except this time you'll be safest of all. With the Minotaur vanquished once more, open the door on the patio and enter a cellblock. Hit the switch on the wall to release the Christian prisoner and learn that the demons are using mind control to control the Romans. (No wonder they're so inept, seems the demons don't want to use that Roman training to their advantage.) Once he finishs talking, move down the stairs and into the control room. Touch the big "Do Not Touch" button to self-destruct the machine. Sorry, but there seems to be glass between you and the Romans so you can't shoot them yet. _________ Return to the Gargoyle's room and move to the righthand wall | | beside the Gargoyle who came to life. On it should be a pattern | I | that looks like the one to the right. Enter the door behind the | X O | empty Gargoyle's stoop and shoot down the Microdemons from the | Y | door, but do not move into the room yet. Once you've killed all | E | the Microdemons, look at the floor. If you've seen Indiana Jones |_________| and the Last Crusade, you can guess what to do. You need to walk across the letters on the floor, spelling out Jesus in Latin. As you pass the 'E,' you have reached the safety on the other side. Follow the corridor and enter the next door. You'll come out into a large, pillared room. Shoot down the Microdemons and the Werewolf. Collect health and ammo, then open the big door. Immediately you'll be charged by a Lion. Gun it down, then take out the flock of Microdemons that accompany it. Enter the next room. To get the armor, climb up the base of the pillar by the stairs and jump to the railing along the top of the stairs. From there jump to the roof of the Lion cells and move to the armor. When you're done, move down the stairs. The room at the bottom of the stairs has a bunch of Romans in it. With the upgrades in weapons since you last encountered them, they shouldn't be much trouble. Zap them all, then move to the wrecked machine. There is a hole in the wall behind some wreckage. Enter it and follow the corridor behind it to the exit. ________________ | Castle Dungeon |_____________________________________________________________ | | | Enemies: Castle Guard, Fallen Angel, Gargoyle, Guard Devil, Imp, Sapper Demon| | New Weapons: Gabriel's Sword | |______________________________________________________________________________| Take the first right to meet your final weapon-bearing angel. This one will give you Gabriel's Sword (called the Beam Sword in the manual for some reason). This bad boy has rapid-fire, low ammo consumption, and deals more damage than any other weapon. It might not explode outwards like Moses Staff, but the sheer damage it deals makes up for it. Test it out by returning to the hall and entering the next door. Inside is your first Fallen Angel. Although these enemies are as nasty as they come, they just can't stand up to the power of Gabriel's Sword. Return to the room with the Gargoyle statues and look for a passage to your left. An Imp and a Gargoyle guard health and armor inside. Collect it and move back into the area with the Fallen Angel. If you need more armor, crouch down where the lava flows through the floor and crawl through the passage to a ladder. Climb this and walk across the rafters. Look down and drop to the armor. From there, hit the switch and follow the stone ledges along the wall to a decline. Move down this. Continue on and down the stairs into the next room. Here you'll find some Castle Guards. Save your ammo and use your old weapons to deal with them. Once they're gone, take out the Fallen Angel in the area above. Follow the stairs |
