Yeah I don't believe in the 2012 stuff but the fact that NASA is warning that a solar storm could wipe out the whole planet's power grid is terrible. But of course...Everything happens for a reason, eh?

Agreed. No electronics for me means extreme boredom attack. The only thing I'd have left to do is talk to friends and stuff, the only good thing left.

Every about 11-13 years the sun goes through a solar cycle. and in 2012 we'll be at the peak of the suns solar cycle. This means the earth's weakening magnetic field will be exposed to Increased solar radiation,and solar wind. High amounts of radiation can cripple satelites and destroy many electrical devices. The main threat is that a solar flare will head towards earth.Solar flares are a lot more common at the peak of a solar cycle. (If you wanna know what (WILL) happen when a solar flare hits the earth ask here.) Never thought my vast knowledge of astronomy would come handy.

Will we launch it off with a huge slingshot? The Bomb it self will work, but not the propulsion sytems

Stone age exactaly but we can't stop radiation the only hope is for us to hope the weakening magnetic field holds up.

I don't think you understood what he said. A capable solar storm could cripple our electronics for a very long time...

They are launched by rocket right...why wouldn't they work...well wait, they are positioned in hidden places and they have to be launched by a propulsion system so maybe you are right...

The economy is the least of your worries.

We'd really just go back to the mid 17 hundreds in terms of what we Can do. But not with what we know.

I understood what he said, I just thought it made the whole aspect look so much darker. Plus we wouldn't truly go back to the stone age.

Also, the satellites would basically be destroyed, that would be devastating to us.

If All power fails,ATMs,gas pumps,credit cards,all things that run on electricity will not work.

And the "solar option" is out of the question unless you have a private backup generator,and when that fails..........Hell.

We can still do the atomic level of electricity, (fro those who don't know, is moving electrons).
