I might join you, I've just been playing ODST but it doesn't appear to have matchmaking
with firefight. :(

I actually did have RROD on my first 360, and I fixed it by pulling out the disk drive,
flashing the motherboard, and put in a new disk drive and a fan on the heat sink. It was
because the console got moved when the disk was spinning, never move your console when the
disk is spinning it bent my drive and scratched my disks up until I noticed. Well that
was how I fixed it, but that requires pulling it apart. If you don't want to pull it
apart or send it back to Microsoft then try putting it in a plastic bag and put it in a
bucket of ice when you use it and hope it's a heating problem, if it's not and it's a
drive problem like mine then your not going to be able to do anything easy. If it still
has warranty I would recommend just sending it back to Microsoft.

i got a 3 month warrenty and had to send it back twice cause of overheating(first xbox)
and my second one just turned off unexpectedly. my friend was over because he didn't have
live and picked up my 2nd xbox because of a slight water leak and it was coming slowly
toward my xbox, so my frind picked it up off the ground to move it as steady as possible.
i still don't trust him to this day, even though it was about a week before it got RROD.
He has his own xbox, but slightly scratched up my disc, so i made him trade me and the
second one got the disc stuck inside so he is stuck with a slightly scratched disc(karma
for lifting a spinning disc)

i heard that they loosen it up or dont screw it on tight enough so the xbox vibration
unscrews it and causes power outage of the xbox. that's what i heard anyway

i forgot to mention that. i thought i mentioned it in the title of the last response

sending it in for repairs or taking apart the xbox is the only way to permanently cause
the prevention of the RROD?

Do you still have two, how are you getting your one you plan to play fixed?

I wouldn't think Microsoft would intentionally cause your xbox to get RROD just so you
send it back, I don't know, never heard that one.

My first 360 was about 2 y/o when I got it, and I had it for about two more then it got
RROD but that was my fault for moving it, it was extra bad because it was standing up and
I went to lay it down, so it was moving in an arc, like not moving it in line with the
disk or anything, it jammed the disk and everything.
