Regular users/Unregistered Users - Last part of IP Address visible
Moderators/Administrators - Whole IP Address visible

No one will see full IP Addresses but the staff. Though, I'm only referring to
Unregistered Users, not us registered users. -_-'

Wikipedia does it, I don't see why we can't. And showing the whole thing is not fullish.

I think everyone should be able to see it. There's nothing wrong with that. If it is, just
get an account. Simple as that.

IP tracking means nothing. The best you could do is find their service provider and a
general location of where they live. That location is usually restricted to their
city/state. You having their IP addresses would do nothing, and as anthony said showing
the full IP address is foolish. The last numbers would suffice.

Showing an entire IP address is foolish and on top of that unnecessary. The last numbers
are perfectly fine. It's possible for DDoS attacks and more to be executed upon a user
(that is implying anyone on here even has close to the resources to do it) and people
would be like HEY UNREGISTERED YOU LIVE IN CANADA AHAHHA AM I L33T OR WHAT?

The problem with using that is the fact that IPv4 addresses are going to run out in
February, and CG will have to adapt to use IPv6 addresses soon after releasing this!!!

I confess. Showing last part of the IP address is good enough for this site for normal
users.

The website could assign a randomly generated id of any format(like ten numbers)to the
browser session and store it as a cookie. Sure it has a few problems like people having
cookies blocked, but it doesn't seem much worse than the problems that static IPs would
cause. If cookies were disables, it would still have the same number until the session is
ended(browser closed). So it would still work somewhat for everyone. Plus it's more
privacy.

This is the way that most good sites with unregistered id numbers use.

I don't see how they are a problem. If someone has a static IP, then that's better as they
would still be identified as the same person even after they close their browsing. If they
have a dynamic IP, I don't think that it would be worth it to cycle your router/modem etc.
just to get a new identity.

The last digits of your IP are not a huge concern as far as privacy goes.

Well I agree with the last digits, you presented some good reasons. I used FireBug to do
a
simple example. This doesn't place the IP under the name but where the postdate is.
