DotA 2 Review

by marcks Jul 23, 2012

Beautiful, unique, ground-breaking, and most importantly exciting. These are all things that come to mind when I think of DotA and DotA 2.

DotA started the genre, and now DotA 2 is going back to perfect the genre.

DotA 2 is a game that you need to play more than just a few times to get into. Unlike League of Legends, DotA 2 does not yet have a tutorial (yet), and is a much more in-depth game in general. Do not start playing DotA 2 with the mind set that you will carry over your skill from League of Legends. It is as far away from League of Legends as games in the same category can get.

If you start playing by going straight into normal games, be prepared to feed, be called a noob, and generally not enjoy your first games.

However, the great part about being new and learning DotA 2 is the bot system. These bots are not your run of the mill bots. These bots will teach you. Remember, start with easy, then go to normal, and if you dare, go to Unfair.

Basically if you are looking for a moba that is more challenging but makes you feel good when everything finally clicks, this is the one to go for.

7Story line
Some of the lore is great, while a lot of the heroes stories are EXTREMELY generic and not 'heroic' at all.
Outstanding. One of the biggest reasons to play. Out of all of the Moba games out there, this game's graphics hack the highest detail and best character designs/skins. Remember, this is highly objective. Many people like the extreme darkness of HoN or the lightheartedness of League of Legends.
The best sounds design I have heard in a long time. From the heroes to the announcer, everything sounds genuinely like you would expect a giant arena and the heroes in it to sounds like.
Hard at first, but after awhile when things click it works perfectly. Just practice in bots until you have mechanics down, and then maybe watch some professionals at
10Lasting Appeal
No game will ever be the same. You will always play against someone new, you will almost always have different heroes on either team, and you will always be adapting your play style and playing new heroes in new ways.
