I've always enjoyed reading boss strategies, especially to compare methods. When it comes to Entomorph, there is basically no discussion. Entomorph also has a variety of difficulty settings, making some of the bosses extremely deadly. III. Copyright Information This guide is copyright (c) 2005 for AUNAO. Bestiary Since Entomorph is a fairly short game, there aren't that many enemies to deal with. You'll find descriptions, general locations and strategies for each enemy here. As I've covered the bosses in another FAQ, they won't be listed here. ---------------------------------------------------------- a) Mutrizzba ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Damos Village, Mutrizzba Temple Description & Strategy: A kind of flying jagtera. They're large mosquitoes that are pretty much instantly recognizable by the high buzzing sound you'll hear even if they're off screen. They can be pretty tough enemies, especially since you're forced to fight a few early on. At higher difficulties the fight in Damos Village can be almost impossible. If that's the case, engage them with Mana Bolt from a distance, as it will be the only offensive spell you have. When you face some mutrizzba later on in their temple, your Mutalid transformation will be well underway, and you'll be able to crush them in melee combat as though they were real mosquitoes. There are also some mutrizzba that are blue in color, and move much faster than the red ones. However, their combat abilities are equal, and they do no more damage than their regular counterparts. ---------------------------------------------------------- b) Muncher ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Everywhere Description & Strategy: Munchers are one of the most common enemies. They're large beetles with shiny red shells. They're ridiculously slow, and attack much slower than you do. One on one they pose little to no threat, however in the early stages of the game they can sometimes be difficult, as they travel in packs. Pick off a few with magic in that case before moving in for close combat. ---------------------------------------------------------- c) Red Slasher ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Everywhere Description & Strategy: The Red Slasher is the Muncher's big angry cousin. A large brown beetle with red slash marks on its back, the Red Slasher is an enemy that is definitely not to be trifled with early on. While they're pretty easy to kill, even on lower difficulties they can dish out a lot of damage. Since they're quite slow, the best strategy is generally to run past them. They'll give up pursuit not too long afterwards. Later in the game they become a mere nuisance, and taking them out close up is quite satisfying. ---------------------------------------------------------- d) Wraith ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Eastern Abandoned Village Description & Strategy: The wraith is a sort of legless human apparition that attacks with its fists much like a zombie does. Close combat is suggested, as they fall quite easily and are lacking in the offensive department. Note that you should still try to evade their attacks, as wraiths damage your mana as well as your health. As mana in Entomorph can be difficult to recover, you should look out for wasting it whenever possible. ---------------------------------------------------------- e) Zombie ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Addegun Village, Saltmoon Village Description & Strategy: Zombies look and attack like regular humans, expect they are covered in white bandages, are much slower and do even less damage. They're the first enemy you face, and are quite easy to defeat. Later on they're only found in a few abandoned villages, and are just as easy to beat. Their attack speed is MUCH slower than yours, meaning you can get off at least four punches before they land one. It should be more than enough to take them out. ---------------------------------------------------------- f) Panorpid Champion ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Panorpid Hive Description & Strategy: Panorpids are the large bee-like Jagtera found in the eastern part of Phoros. They're also one of the first challenging foes you'll come up again. Since, for the most part, you'll be forced to fight them while in Panorpid form yourself, the battles can be quite tricky. They're as fast as you are, and will close quickly and attack with their horns. The best way to fight them is to use your spitting attack while constantly staying on the move. They'll try to strafe you, but since you're the one chasing you, their own spit attacks will generally miss. After you've defeated the Queen, you won't have to worry about these guys much anymore. ---------------------------------------------------------- g) Junior Panorpids ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Panorpid Hive Description & Strategy: A smaller kind of Panorpid. They're a one shot enemy, attacking in a room that opens up after the Queen is defeated. They're physically weak, and are killed in a single hit, regardless of the attack. Their strength lies in numbers; they'll swarm at you the minute the door opens. Try not to let them surround you, and keep on the move. One punch should take a few out if they're clustered together. A spell with a wide area of effect like Whirlwind works wonders in this situation. ---------------------------------------------------------- h) Golden Muncher ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Mutrizzba Temple, Keechadachup Description & Strategy: Looks a lot like a regular Muncher, only the carapace is gold instead of red. As you only meet them late in the game when you are much stronger, there's almost no real difference between regular Munchers and Golden ones. Even if they swarm you they aren't much of a threat. A few regular attacks should do them in effortlessly. ---------------------------------------------------------- i) Urthrax (Male) ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: T'Urthrax Ravine Description & Strategy: Male Urthrax are the furry white spiders that inhabit the lower part of the ravine. Like all the Urthrax, they're weak in close combat and easily killed. The male Urthrax has the weakest poison, and isn't much of a threat. Take them out any way you like. It's worth mentioning that, unlike the T'Urthrax and even female Urthrax, males rarely use their poison spit. ---------------------------------------------------------- j) Urthrax (Female) ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: T'Urthrax Ravine Description & Strategy: Female Urthrax are the furry brown spiders that inhabit the lower part of the ravine. Almost identical to their male counterparts in terms of ability, the female does have much stronger poison. However, they are just as easy to defeat up close. Try to close in using a zigzag movement pattern so their spit doesn't hit home. A hit or two and she'll bite the dust. ---------------------------------------------------------- k) T'Urthrax ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: T'Urthrax Ravine Description & Strategy: The T'Urthrax are the elite warriors of the T'Urthrax Mata. Compared to the more common Urthrax, they appear as huge black widow spiders. They're frail in close combat, but they possess a ranged spit attack that's extremely poisonous. Try to avoid their poison at all costs, as it will last a long time and seriously hamper your combat ability. Using your own spit attack or magic is suggested, but if you can weave inbetween their ranged strikes and close in, a T'Urthrax will go down quickly. ---------------------------------------------------------- l) Keechda Mongrel ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Keechdachup Description & Strategy: They're cute little green humanoid guys. They're basically friendly, and won't initiate combat unless you irk them during a conversation. While most are quite important to the plot, even if you kill one, he'll regenerate later. There's really no need for a strategy; Mongrels only attack with their fists, and are about as strong as Zombies, only with less health. Personally, I think they are too cute to mess with, so I keep things friendly. ---------------------------------------------------------- m) Thelyd Worker ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Thelyd Stronghold Description & Strategy: Thelyd Workers are the most common Thelyd. They function as labor for their ant colonies. There are three different categories of Workers: red workers, who forage for food, purple workers, who escort various creatures, and green workers, who are charged with tending the Thelyd Queen. Even in your initial form, a Thelyd Worker can be defeated with a powerful offensive spell. Engaging them in close combat early on is not recommended. Once you're ready to defeat the Thelyd Queen, they're easy targets to be taken out however you see fit. ---------------------------------------------------------- n) Thelyd Warrior ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Thelyd Stronghold Description & Strategy: The Warriors resemble large black ants with massive jaws. Engaging one of these boys in your human form is suicide. Even later on they can be particularly dangerous, as they possess a large amount of health and severe offensive power. Keeping your distance is the best strategy. Since they are quite slow, getting in an attack and retreating over and over is fairly effective. ---------------------------------------------------------- o) Elite Thelyd ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Thelyd Stronghold Description & Strategy: An enhanced Thelyd Warrior recognizable by its red and yellow stripe. Even more dangerous than a regular Thelyd Warrior, but are fairly rare, typically found guarding important parts of the stronghold. Use the same back and forth strategy to defeat them. ---------------------------------------------------------- p) Mutalid ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Scattered throughout the island Description & Strategy: The mean, green kings of the jungle. Mutalids are among the most powerful enemies in the game. By the time you're actively fighting them, you've already become one. They have all the same abilities as you do, only you're a little faster with a lot more health, as well as magic capabilities. They'll typically close in with their melee attack, a sweeping claw strike that will knock you back and do a fair amount of damage. Since you don't possess that knockback, fighting a Mutalid in close quarters can be difficult. Since they rarely use their spit attack, a constant barrage of spit while keeping on the run is an effective tactic. If you can spare the mana, a fully charged Fire Ball spell or similar magic is very effective as well. ---------------------------------------------------------- q) Greater Mutalid ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Scattered throughout the island Description & Strategy: Greater Mutalids are an enhanced version of regular ones, recognizable by their dark, almost brown skin tone. These bad boys outclass Mutalids in every aspect. Their attack speed is meteoric compared to your own, and even their movement rate is almost as fast as yours. On the easiest difficulty setting, they can still make short work of you in close melee range, and they're far too fast for the old spit 'n' run tactic. Use your strongest spells to take these guys out. It might seem like a waste of mana, but considering their strength, there aren't many other foes to convese your mana and potions for in the first place. V.
