This game is the origional Fable with a whole bunch of new add-ins and quests for your playing pleasure, an expansion so to speak. This is an action/adventure RPG that's fun to play even though it's extremely easy combat wise. This game offers decent play control, great graphics, a good main story line, side stories that will vary depending on your actions, crappy sound (on the PC anyways), and a great way to waste an entire weekend avoiding your psychotic girlfriend. What makes this such a good game is the fact that every little action you do affects your character, the whole game is pretty much based upon the moral decisions you'll have to make. This has been attempted and failed by gaming companies in the past but Microsoft actually did something right this time because they pounded the nail into the coffin with this type of game and blew it out of the funeral parlor. This games offers hundreds of choices to make and you can actually form relationships with people, get married, become Mayor, become an Assassin, turn into a grimey thief, buy a home and rent it out to people, way too many choices to list so have fun and get ready for a really great gaming experience. Only two or three games a year of this calibur come onto the market and I recommend this game to the world. The only thing Microsoft missed is offering a female character to play the game through for all of the women gamers out there. They do exist, although quite rare. You'd have better luck playing Pick up Stix with your butt cheeks or finding a Kangaroo in the Alaskan Wilderness than you would finding a die hard female gamer. This is an M rated game and so is my guide, to some extent, I do throw the occasional shit, douchebag, or asshole word in here and there but I do stay away from the more severe words (except in my E-mail Rules section). Just warning you, I'm letting you know right off the bat what to expect if you choose to use my guide so if you offend easily then this may not be the best guide for you to be using. Some may find this immature, crude, tasteless, or downright tacky but let's just say I was in a blueberry haze when I wrote this and leave it at that. ................................................................... ----------------------------------------------- * 2) MORE WALKTHROUGHS BY ME, VERSION HISTORY * ----------------------------------------------- >>> Other top-quality Walkthroughs I have written: 1) Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M. 2) Neverwinter Nights 3) Neverwinter Nights: Shadows Of Undrentide 4) Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark 5) Neverwinter Nights Gold Edition 6) Neverwinter Nights Platinum Edition 7) Quake II 8) Shadow Man 9) Shadow Man 2econd Coming 10) The Suffering 11) The Suffering: Ties That Bind 12) Turok 2: Seeds of Evil You can ALWAYS find all of my guides and latest versions at: www.gamefaqs.com >>> VERSION HISTORY: Version 1.0 October 2007 This is the first complete version of my guide. I'm sure I missed things here and there with all the choices you can make and I'd appreciate the feedback letting me know what I missed, I will of course credit you for any information you provide that I use in this guide. After writing this I'm Fabled out and really don't want to search for things that I may have missed. All of the weapons, items, major items, quests, and side quests are found/completed and in my guide so at least those aspects are covered. The only thing I know I missed for sure was the location of Treasure Clue #3 but I do tell you where the treasure is located. Video games are great, until you write a guide for one and then it just sucks the fun right out of it. I can't write a guide for a game and then still be able to enjoy playing it (with the exception of Neverwinter Nights). Version 1.5 January 2008 Added another website this is leagally posted on and fixed some typos. Version 2.0 Februray 2008 Added in the location of the last trasure clue (#3) that a reader named David Trout sent me. Thank you David, because of you this guide is officially complete. Also added the treasure you get by finding all the clues. Version 2.5 April, 2008 Finally added in what prize you receive for offering people for sacrifice in the Chapel of Skorm. Thanks to Erik Pirmann for letting us all know. ................................................................... ---------------------------------- * 3) A WORD FROM THE GUILDMASTER * ---------------------------------- Congratulations are in store for you. The fact you have been proved with the Book of the Guild means you must be one of a lucky few with enough potential to be invited here as a Hero apprentice. We consider this text sacred and even, I would say, magical. You would be wise to study it carefully from cover to cover in order to unveil its many secrets. The task ahead of you will not be an easy one. Only through years of hard work can you hope to unleash your latent powers. During its long history the guild has seen many apprentices fail through idleness and overconfidence, and I would be sorry to see one with potential such as you throw it all away. Albion needs its Heroes now more than ever. Becoming a Hero of Renown means achieving great things, and to accomplish less than greatness is to have done next to nothing at all. You must understand that, for the Guild, greatness has no bearing with regard to perceived good or evil. No, it has more to do with the Renown one achieves through actions, regardless of mortality. Be forewarned that the work necessary to become a Hero is not to be taken half-heartedly. On the contrary, this will be a most gruelling and arduous training, encompassing all aspects of mind, body, and spirit. I say this without a wisp of doubt. We require that you apply yourself as never before, but having done that, the rewards and Renown you may achieve are unimaginable. This said, if you do finally graduate from this Heros' Guild, you may even one day be acknowledged as the greatest hero ever to stride the cobbled paths of Albion. Statues have been erected all over the land in honor of those few Great Ones who came before you, those laid to rest and permanently entombed at the Guild. We may only hope our success in training you will one day flame your successes throughout Albion, coarse a place as it is. Go now, and seek your destiny. ................................................................... -------------------------------------- * 4) THE WORLD OF FABLE AND MORALITY * -------------------------------------- While playing this game you'll have lots of moral decisions to make and you can shape and forge your character into a good guy by doing good deeds and not stealing, killing innocents, and helping people out whenever you can. Or you can become a neutral sort of fellow by not doing good or bad deeds and staying out of everyones business. If you are trying to be a neutral character and your alignment shifts towards good, then do some bad deeds to balance the alignment scale back to neutral, and vice versa if your alignment shifts towards evil. And if you'd like you can become a sick, twisted, evil bastard by killing innocents, stealing, pillaging, and helping bad people do bad things. OR you can become a character in-between all of these. Your physical appearence will be dramatically altered depending on what alignment your character has. Your character will have something called the Renown Status and this will determine how people view you and interact with you. The moral decisions you make will alter the side stories somewhat so choose wisely as to what type of character you would like to become. You can also play through the game numerous times with all types of moralities, the possibilities can keep you busy for a very long time if you wish to explore them all. ................................................................... ------------------------------------------------------ * 5) GAMEPLAY BASICS, COMBAT BASICS, AND LEVELING UP * ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------- ~ GAMEPLAY BASICS ~ ------------------- - HEALTH BAR: This is located in the top left corner of the game screen and is red. - MANA BAR: This is located directly beneath the health bar and is blue. This slowly recharges on its own, I'm talking turtle speed. - RESURRECTION PHIALS: Next to the health and mana bars is a heart, the number inside of the heart lets you know how many potions you have left. - MINI MAP: In the upper right hand corner of the game screen is a map of the area you're in. Green dots represent shops and people of interest. Red dots indicate hostiles. Light blue dots represent people you can't interact with. A purple dot represents a Demon Door. A white dot represents a Cullis Gate. A flashing gold dot is the current MAIN QUEST you are doing. A flashing silver dot represents what side quest(s) you are trying to complete. - CLOCK: To the right of the mini map is a clock and I'm almost sure you can figure out how to tell the time. - AWARENESS EYE: To the left of the mini map is an eyeball. If you are around people then this eye will be open so they can see your every move so don't steal or do bad deeds and act accordingly if you choose. If it is half closed there are people in the vicinity so be careful if you're stealing stuff. If the eye is all the way closed that means no one can see you so you can be as evil as you want so go ahead and take a dump behind the Tavern next to the barrels of whiskey if you please. The number inside of the eye indicates how many people are in your vicinity watching you. - CULLIS GATES: Throughout the game you will venture upon many gates surrounded by blue light, enter the gate to teleport to other Cullis Gates all around Albion. - GUILD SEAL: This is given to you after you have completed training at the Heroes' Guild, it is located in the bottom left corner of the game screen. This allows you to teleport to a Cullis Gate, you don't have to be in a Cullis Gate in order to teleport elsewhere if you use this, you may also recall yourself to where you used it last. The default PC control for this is "G." - CONTEXT SENSITIVE ITEMS: Above your Guild Seal are three little slots numbered F1-F3 and whenever you see something pop up in this you can use that item/expression. These context sensitive items are only available when they appear, if you leave the vicinity they will disappear and you have no control as to what pops up in these little slots. Pay very close attention to these slots so you know where to use your shovel, give a gift to someone, fart in someones face, flip someone the bird, or whatever. - HOTBAR: Next to your Guild Seal is the hotbar numbered 1-9, simply drag items into this so you can use them by pressing the designated number instead of going through the long tedious inventory process to use an item. - INTERACT: The action button to interact with people, items, and so on, the PC control for this is "Tab." - EXPRESSIONS: This game has many expressions and actions you can use to interact with people, which will differ depending on your alignment and Renown Status. Some of these are crude but funny like farting, grabbing your ball sack, smacking your ass and telling people to kiss it, and so on. There are a lot of nice expressions you can use also. - BOASTING: Whenever you take a Quest Card you can stand on a pedestal and boast about the adventure you're about to embark upon, and if you live up to your boasting you'll get extra gold and Renown Points. Be weary though, if you fail in your boasts you won't get any extra gold or renown so don't go around being an egotistical douchebag claiming you can do things that you cannot, also people will laugh at and make fun of you if you fail to fulfill a boast. How's that for an ego popper? - SHOWING OFF: If your character is the type of person who thinks his shit doesn't stink he can run around and show off his battle earned trophies to win praise from the local idiots. Doing this will earn you some extra Renown Points if you can show it off to a certain amount of people in the time alloted. - TRADING: When you go to a store to buy some equipment or run into a vendor on the road, check their wanted list and if you have an item they need you can sell it to them for way more gold than they would normally pay for that item. - RESTING: You can sleep at the local Tavern to recover fully and to make approximately ten hours pass by. You can also sleep in tents and other peoples' beds. - STEALTH MODE: Press "Caps Lock" to go into stealth mode so you can sneak up on people. - IN-GAME MENU: Go in here to save your game, view past and current quests, look at all of your items and equipment, check your Hero Status which has TONS of information about your character, read books, and all sorts of other stuff. The details in this game are stunning when you think about it. - QUESTS: Main quests are marked with a gold marker, side quests are marked with a silver or bronze marker. ----------------- ~ COMBAT BASICS ~ ----------------- - UNSHEATHING YOUR SWORD: For PC players the default control is "Q" to unsheathe your weapon, press the left mouse button to swing your blade. - DRAWING YOUR BOW: For PC players the default control to draw your bow is "E," use the left mouse button to fire and hold the button down for a couple of seconds to fire a more powerful shot. While drawing an arrow you can go into first person view by right clicking the mouse, you can then zoom in on the enemy by using the mouse wheel for a more accurate shot. - USING MAGIC: This game has a lot of defensive and offensive spells to choose from. For PC players to use a spell press and hold "Left Shift," then left or right click the mouse to use the spell you want. To cycle through your spells to assign to the left or right mouse buttons hold "Left Shift" and press "O," or you can do this by holding "Left Shift" and cycling through the spells with the "Mouse Wheel." - LOCKING ONTO ENEMIES: For PC players, to lock onto an enemy hit the "Space Bar." - COMBAT MULTIPLIER: When combating enemies you'll see the Combat Multiplier appear below your health and mana bars. If you hit the enemy repeatedly without getting struck in return this multiplier will keep getting higher, the higher you get the Combat Multiplier the more experience points you'll receive for the battle. - BLOCKING: To parry an enemies strike press the "Mouse Wheel." You can also roll out of the arching death blows the enemies swing at you while blocking by moving left, right, forwards or backwards. - FLOURISH: After you hit an enemy a few times without taking any blows in return your melee weapon will turn purple and begin to glow, this means you can do a powerful attack by pressing the right mouse button which will knock the enemy to the ground or decapitate them. Once you're hit by an enemy the flourish icon disappears and you have to build it up again. This attack is quite powerful and comes in handy while up against the tougher foe. --------------- ~ LEVELING UP ~ --------------- - GENERAL EXPERIENCE POINTS: Just regular experience points to collect, kill the enemies any way you'd like to collect these green glowing orbs. Use the "Left Shift" key to make all of the orbs in the area come to you. You should try to kill all of the enemies around you before collecting these so you can gain more experience points, especially if you got your Combat Multiplier up in the twenties or thirties. - STRENGTH EXPERIENCE POINTS: Use your fists and melee weapons to be rewarded these points. - SKILL EXPERIENCE POINTS: To get these kind of points you will have to use your Bow. - WILL EXPERIENCE POINTS: Use magic spells if you'd like to gain will points. - RENOWN POINTS: This doesn't have anything to do with leveling up but I thought this would be the appropriate place to put this. Whenever you do a deed, whether it's good or evil, you'll get Renown Points for the deed that will go towards your Renown Status, killing enemies and completing quests also earns you Renown Points. Renown Status determines how people view you as a whole and effects the way they interact with you, good Renown Status will earn you respect and admiration, evil Renown Status will earn you nothing but fear and pity. When you've earned enough Renown Points the Guildmaster will inform you of your new Renown Status. With each new Renown Status comes new expressions you'll get to use. To level your character up you must be in the Heroes' Guild. Next to the Quest Map Table is a green and glowing pedestal, walk up to it to level your character up. You have three catagories to choose from, Strength, Skill, and Will and each one has sub-catagories. This is like an experience store because you have to buy your upgrades with all of your earned experience points which will get quite expensive for the higher level characters. Select a catagory and then buy the upgrades you want, simple. I like the fact that you can choose to customize your character abilities any way you want and they're not automatically assigned like a lot of other RPG's I have played in the past. If you want to buy something out of the Will/Skill/Strength catagory and don't have enough Will/Skill/Strength points don't worry because you can use the general experience points to buy from any catagory. Here's the upgrades available: STRENGTH CATAGORY: - PHYSIQUE: Dictates the force with which you can swing a weapon and thus the amount of damage you can cause. With greater strength also comes the ability to weild heavier weapons and wear heavier armor. - HEALTH: Purchasing this upgrade will increase the length of your Health Bar. The maximum number of upgrades you can purchase for this is seven, which will make you quite the healthy character if all seven are purchased. Don't forget there are also Elixir's to find that do this also. - TOUGHNESS: This dictates your natural armor, your ability to withstand blows from the enemy. Obviously the tougher and more hardened you are the less damage you'll take in battle. SKILL CATAGORY: - SPEED: This will increase your agility in combat and gives you a better rate of fire for ranged weapons and a faster swing time for melee weapons. - ACCURACY: This is a good upgrade to buy if you use your bow a lot for this will make you more accurate while using ranged weapons. - GUILE: This will make your character be able to bargain with vendor's for better prices on their goods. This also helps your stealth to sneak up on enemies and people, which is a plus for your character if he's a Thief or an Assassin. WILL CATAGORY: - ATTACK SPELLS: All offensive spells, there are seven spells to choose from. - SURROUND SPELLS: These are primarily all defensive spells and you have five to choose from. - PHYSICAL SPELLS: A combination of offensive and defensive spells, there are six to choose from. - MAGIC POWER: Purchase this upgrade to increase your Mana Bar, the maximum amount of upgrades available is seven. Don't forget there are also Elixir's you can find that will raise your Mana Bar. >>> I will not list all of the available spells here, look in the Magic Spells section of this guide to see all of the available spells. ................................................................... -------------------------------------------- * 6) TATTOOS, HAIR STYLES, AND FACIAL HAIR * -------------------------------------------- ---------- ~ TATTOOS ~ ---------- >>> To receive tattoos just visit a tattooist and purchase whatever ones you please, you'll also find quite a few lying all over the place, you can also buy them from traveling vendors all around Albion. You'll also find haircut cards all over the place so don't worry about it if you're a penny pincher, it's only about fifty gold pieces per style anyways you cheap bastard. Also note that if you get a buzz or short hair cut then your hair will eventually grow back, I've never seen this in a video game and I think it's a cool idea. - NORMAL HAIRCUT: Styles your hair the way it looked when you graduated from the Guild. - PUDDING BASIN: If you're into soap operas then this is the style for you. - PONY TAIL: Don't tell me you need an explanation. - YOUNGSTER STYLE: If you're into Goth then this is the style for you. - THE BUZZ: What a nice edge-up and blend-in. - BALD: Is in. Why? - SHORT: Just a standard short hair doo. - WARRIOR STRIPE: A mohawk. You'll look like one bad ass mother with a few scars and a tribal tatt on your face sporting this hair style. - PLAITS: Corn rows. - Sorry all of you redneck hillbilly backwood southern boys, no mullets available. Don't be sad, take this as a sign from Bill Engvall to drag yourself into the bathroom, bust out the clippers, get with the times, and buzz that mullet right off! --------------- ~ FACIAL HAIR ~ --------------- - STANDARD BEARD: A beard with no moustache. - REGULAR BEARD: A Paul Bunyon beard with a moustache. - MUTTON CHOP BEARD: Run around and look like an Amish dude. - TRAMP BEARD: I call this beard the Wolf Man Jack. - BIG BEARD: And that it is. To make them call you something else simply find a Hero Title Vendor (there's one right outside the door to the Guild in Lookout Point and near The Arena) and buy a new title from him. Here's the list of titles to choose from even though they're all lamer than lame: - MALEFICUS - ASSASSIN - AVATAR - LIBERATOR - DRUID - RANGER - RUNEMASTER - HOOD - SABRE - PIEMASTER - CHICKEN CHASER - ARSEFACE - REAPER - PILGRIM - ARROWDODGER - GLADIATOR - DEATHBRINGER - PALADIN: To get this title you must donate at least 100,000 gold to the Temple of Avo - NECROMANCER: To get this title will require you to sacrifice people in the Temple of Skorm. ------------------------ ~ RENOWN STATUS TITLES ~ ------------------------ >>> These are the titles that you will receive for your Renown Status.
