Introduction [INTRO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, hello, hello! Thanks for choosing this walkthrough to be your wondrous guide into the world of The Godfather. Now this guide follows a simple procedure. It does not list missions then safes then film reels then businesses etc. It lists them according to the order when you should be able to take them on (I won't have you take on the Cuneo compound right after the second mission). Now, onto the guide (well first, the legal crap). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Look Back - E Reverse - E + S Horn - Q Handbrake - L CTRL ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Weapons [WEAPO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REVOLVER .38 Snub Nose The .38 snub nose is a standard police-issue sidearm. It is the quietest firearm, but is also the weakest. .38 Special (LVL.2) The .38 special is and upgraded revolver with a slightly faster firing rate than the base revolver. Your ammo has increased to 60 bullets. Saturday Night Special (LVL.3) The Saturday night special is a modified revolver that has the fastest firing rate. Your ammo carry limit has increased to 80 bullets. PISTOL Pistol (Level 1) The semiautomatic sidearm uses a vertical clip with an eight round capacity. The pistol has a fast firing speed with an even faster reload. Extended Clip Pistol (Level 2) The modified/extended clip pistol has an upgraded clip that holds 10 rounds and fires faster than its predecessor. The modified pistol has an ammo carry limit of 80 rounds. Assassin's Pistol (Level 3) The assassin's pistol is the most advanced pistol available, with a blistering firing rate. Its extended clip holds 14 rounds, making for very few reloads. The ammo carry limit is increased to 140 bullets. MAGNUM Magnum (Level 1) The magnum is a hand cannon with a swing and cylinder. The magnum is the loudest and most powerful sidearm, and it rivals the shotgun in damage dealt. Extended Barrel Magnum (Level 2) The modified/extended barrel magnum is upgraded to use longer bullets that deal more damage and exit the cylinder faster than the case magnum. Python (Level 3) The python is the most lethal one-handed firearm available. It's upgraded from the modified magnum, and its cylinder holds eight rounds. The hollow-tip bullets it uses deal an unparalleled amount of damage. Additionally, the ammo carry limit is increased to 80 bullets. TOMMY GUN Tommy Gun (Level 1) The tommy gun is a compact machine gun that is small and light enough for one man to handle. It cuts enemies down in record time, but it has a slow reload. Modified Tommy Gun (Level 2) The modified tommy gun is augmented to hold 50 bullets, and it has a faster firing rate than the standard tommy gun. The reload is still slow though. Dillinger (Level 3) The Dillinger is the most advanced tommy gun available. It has an astounding 75-bullet clip, making for fewer reloads and a blistering firing rate. SHOTGUN Long Barrel Shotgun (Level 1) The long barrel shotgun is a pump-action rifle that fires effectively over short ranges. Because the shotgun has a pump reload after every two shots, you better make every shot count. Double Barrel Shotgun (Level 2) The double barrel shotgun has a slightly shortened barrel that makes for more damage with each shell. More importantly, your ammo count is increased to 24 bullets. Street Sweeper (Level 3) The street sweeper is arguably the most powerful firearm available. The clip is modified to hold 10 shells that are fired like an automatic weapon. The ammo carry limit is increased to 100 shells. BASEBALL BAT The baseball bat (or other melee weapon) is a strong weapon that is great for intimidation, and in the right hand, it can be lethal. MOLOTOV Total carried: four (without skill upgrade). The Molotov is a glass bottle filled with fuel and topped off with an oily rag. Light it and watch your targets burn. You can carry only a limited number, so use the Molotovs wisely. DYNAMITE Total carried: one (without skill upgrade). Dynamite does tremendous damage to a small area, making it great for destroying vehicles, safes, and bank vaults. It can be thrown or planted, but it has a short fuse, so watch your back. BOMB Total carried: one (without skill upgrade). A bomb deals tremendous damage to a large area. If thrown or planted inside a building, it will gut it. Because the bomb has a long fuse, timing is everything. GARROTE WIRE The garrote is an instrument of execution by strangulation. To use it you must seize your enemy form behind, so be patient. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Walkthrough [WALKT] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And now, here comes, the moment you've all been waiting for, the Walkthrough! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.01 Mission 0 [MIS00] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Mission 0 isn't really a mission, it's a prelude. So when asked when starting a new game "Do you want to play the prelude?" click yes. Otherwise click no and skip to Ceremony 1. In the movie you see Johnny Trapani (your father) paying his dues to Don Corleone and Peter Clemenza. You see him meet his wife, Sarafina (your mother) outside of his bakery. Then the bakery explodes in a mass of flames! What are we to do? As Johnny rushes in he sees a couple of thugs. Just hold the left mouse button and press Q and E until they're kneeling. Now knee them in the face (don't worry; neither the flames nor the thugs can hurt you)! Once you're done with all of them a cut scene appears. You see your father emerge from the flames just as Don Barzini's men pop him full of lead. Then you see yourself as a small boy and Don Corleone telling you to save your anger until the time is right. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.02 Ceremony 1 [CER01] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Ceremonies are basically cut scenes but I will explain them just in case you don't understand. It is The Godfather's daughter's wedding day today. As Luca Brasi stands outside practicing his speech you see Sarafina walk into the Godfather's office. She talks to him and asks him to find you. Tom Hagen (the Corleone's consigliere) stares out the window while Luca finishes his speech and decides to leave. "One more thing my friend," says the Don. "I need you to find someone for me." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.03 Mission 1 [MIS01] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: You should have made your character to your liking by now. You are getting beat up just as Luca starts strolling in. You got involved in this gang and now you want some cash. This fatso doesn't like that idea. Then Luca takes a lead pipe and smashes his brains in. He finally found you. Now this mission is really easy. Just do what the computer tells you to do. Oh...wait! Before you beat up the last guy, throw him into the crate at the right side of the alley. Voila! $1000. That's a lot of cash in the beginning of the game. Talk to Luca and he'll give you a map and tell you about the objectives menu. Your first objective is to go to the safehouse. Not so fast! We've got some exploring to do. Now as soon as you get out of the alley turn left. Keep heading down Bowery St. then make a left into the alley. Ignore the Tattaglia gangster here and at the end of the alley. When you emerge you should see a barber shop across the street. That’s Demantagna’s barber shop owned by the Tattaglias. Here’s where the fun begins. Grab hold of the Tattaglia mobster in front of the shop. Walk him over to the window and press W to throw him in. Run into the shop and knock him out. Take his gun (if he doesn’t have a gun that’s ok; use melee for the next part). Draw the pistol, open the door in the back of the store, and fire away at the second Tattaglia gangster. Reload it, hide it, and then go back into the front of the store again. Talk to the barber. He refuses to pay. We gotta teach him a lesson (now the bar in the upper right hand corner shows when he’s going to crack and when he’s going to fight back; the objective here is, not to take the money when the blue bar goes just past the green bar, but to make it go just short of the red bar [if you settle with the lowest cash payment all the time you can lose up to a $100,000!]). I would settle with a payout of about $700-750. But, once you reach 700 stop and talk to him again. You don’t wanna go too far or else or you’re going to blow it. Target his register, punch it out, and take the money inside. Still doesn’t crack? Hold ‘im and take out a few punches until the payout is about $700 (more or less $25). Stop and talk to him. He should give you your payout and now he’ll pay you every week! Now emerge from the store with a happy smile on your face, right? Wrong! We still got one more thing to do. Get out of the barbershop and go left. Turn left into the alley. Go down until you see a man with a puppet sign on top of him. This guy’s a black market merchant. He sells either guns or bombs. Talk to him and buy one (1) dynamite stick. Now head back into the store. Go into the back room and stand by the safe. When the “Plant Dynamite - P” icon appears press P and run into the front of the store (don’t run out of the store because it might get glitched). When you hear the explosion run back into the back room and take the dynamite, the money, and any gun that emerges. Now head to the safehouse. Right in front of it should be a rather large gunfight. Avoid it. Now as soon as you walk in go to the start menu. When your respect points go up a level you get a skill point. Skill points can be traded in for skills at any time in the game. I suggest keeping everything leveled because you don't want your character to be one-sided. Click “Skills and Upgrades” then up your fighting by one and your shooting by one. Then go upstairs and into your room. Take the RX bottle on the table if you need it (full health) and also take the baseball bat by the trunk. Then finally save. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.04 Mission 2 [MIS02] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now before you start the mission, in the main menu of the game go to “Load Game”. The once your character appears go to “Edit”. Here you can edit your character if you want to. I would suggest wearing the clothes that I tell you to wear but that’s completely up to you. But remember; the clothes I tell you to wear = more respect bonus. “Il Diavolo Rosso” Dress Shirt Open Collar $0 0 respect 2/3 pattern 8/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Pants Casual Pants $0 0 respect 2/3 pattern 9/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Dress Shoes $0 0 respect ----------- 6/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Go and answer the phone by pressing space. You hear someone tell you to meet Luca outside. Go do just that. Yay, cut scene! Luca starts telling you how he likes it in this town now and warns you never to disrespect the Godfather. Then he tells you that old Emilio is paying the Tattaglias his money. When you start out talk to Luca one more time. Then go into the butcher shop across the street. You see a menu come up of what I’ve taught you before. Then go talk to old Emilio. He won’t budge. So, let’s destroy his counter, scale, and his cash register (take the money inside). He probably will already pay you but let’s turn up the heat a little more. Grab him and punch him until you get a payout of about $1,100. Now talk to him again. He’ll be more than happy to pay you the money. The back door has been unlocked. Go through the back door and up the stairs. You’ve discovered a racket. Don’t go talk to the racket boss just yet. Beat up both Tattaglia thugs then one of the fat men. Now you should see a bar that says Frankie “The Flush” in the top right hand corner of your screen. Grab him then bring him to a wall and smack him. Ohhhh. That works real well. Do it again, and again, and again, until you get a payout of about $750. Now talk to him and buy him out. Now go and plant the dynamite on the safe in the other room. Run and hide either downstairs or behind a poker table. When you here the boom go and collect the $1,500 and the dynamite stick. Uh-oh. Police in the house. Bribe him for just $100! Then go and give Luca the money you “earned”. He tells you to go meet his friend, Paulie Gatto. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.05 Mission 3 [MIS03] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now go to the skills menu and upgrade your health and your speed by one notch. Then go talk to the mobster wearing the black jacket. He’ll tell you to go take over business. We can’t do that just yet. Go to your safehouse and save. Then go to the edit menu and put on these clothes (it might seem like a lot of money now, but we’ll get 5x as much back; don’t worry) “The Beige Brawler” Vest Closed w/ $3,600 1125 respect 3/4 pattern 12/12 color Rolled Up ---------------------------------------------------------- Dress Shirt Purchased ------ ------------ 3/3 pattern 9/12 color w/ Vest ---------------------------------------------------------- Pants Casual Pants $720 225 respect 3/3 pattern 11/12 color w/ Belt ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Oxfords $420 135 respect ----------- 5/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Hat Snap Brim $480 150 respect 1/2 pattern 12/18 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Glasses Wire Frames $300 95 respect ----------- 6/8 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Total $5,520 1,730 respect Now that we have that straightened out let’s go see Paulie. Either walk or take the car that is parked behind the building (back door) to the Falconite social club. When you get there walk in front of it to trigger a cut scene. In the scene you meet Paulie and Monk. They tell you that the Undertaker’s daughter got beat up pretty bad by a couple of punks. Follow them and stick close. Now before going straight in and fighting the thugs there’s a certain money bag that you should get. To the left of the graveyard should be a church. To the right of the church doors should be a see-through fence. If you look really closely you can see a bag of money leaning up against the headstone. But, first... Go with Monk and Paulie and whack the blue guy. Then run into the graveyard, get the money ($2,000), then start throwing the red guy around. When he’s just below dying a cut scene triggers. You and Monk throw Red into a grave and Monk starts throwing dirt on him. Paulie tells him he should treat the ladies a little nicer and with a little respect. Now it’s too late. Then he K.O.s him with the shovel. Congrats! You passed mission three. Go to the skills menu and upgrade your street smarts one notch. Then talk to Monk. He tells you that Luca is waiting for you over at the Bowery. Don’t go to him yet. We have a crazy load of stuff to do. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.06 Free Roam 1 [FRR01] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now free roaming is basically about getting your respect and money up. Taking over business/rackets, buying safehouses, and collecting film reels. You can choose to skip free roams but I highly suggest you do them. The min. net value is “$”. The max. is “$$$$$”. NOTE: An easy way to add money and increase the pain the shopkeeper is receiving and giving try strangling him/her (X). BUSINESSES AND RACKETS Businesses to Extort: Very Easy Grand News Location: Grand Street and Mulberry Street Controlling Family: Stracci Weakness of Shopkeeper: Using Melee Attacks Min Payout: $150 Max Payout: $600 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $190 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $750 Net Value: $ Description: Go1 to Grand News. Defeat the lone thug in the front and cough the money out of the shopkeeper by using melee attacks. I’d stop at $700 just to be safe. Global Trading Company Location: Prince Street and Center Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of Shopkeeper: Using Melee Attacks Min Payout: $150 Max Payout: $600 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $190 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $750 Net Value: $ Description: Go to Global Trading Co. Once you get there, there should be an alley on the north side of the building. Circle around and you should see two more thugs there. Don’t go through the back door. Go all the way down the alley and crouch behind the dumpster. Now the thugs don’t see you. Get out some kind of weapon and shoot one guy in the head. When the second one starts running shoot him too. Now the three in front should start running towards you. If they don’t go back to the front of the store and blow their brains out. Now that that is taken care of head on into the store. Talk to the owner. He won’t pay. Here comes the fun part. Destroy his two cabinets and his register then melee and strangle him until he croaks I went to about $550 but you can go more if you’re brave enough. But there’s still the matter of the racket upstairs. Now you should have gotten some kind of heavy weapon from the thugs outside. Take it out and go through the back door. Take out the thug and wait. The double doors open and two more thugs run in. Take them out then go on in. Take out the thug coming down the stairs, then go up yourself. When the door opens, kill the thug that comes out and the one that comes out of the room on the left. Collect all the ammo and money you may have missed then go back into the room upstairs (it has a bunch of windows). Blow up the safe then go through the other door upstairs. Take a left then go into the elevator. When it arrives you should be on the roof of the building. There are two thugs here and a racket boss, so be careful when you’re firing not to kill him. Destroy the thugs and then talk to the boss. If he don’t pay try turning up the heat a little. Grab hold of him then throw him. Slam him into a couple of walls until the payout goes to about $630. Then lay off or else he’ll fight back. Oh yeah. And upgrade your fighting again one notch. Business to Extort: Easy Sicilian Imports Incorporated Location: Fourth Avenue and East Houston Street Controlling Family: Stracci Weakness of Shopkeeper: Destroying Property Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $ Description: Go to Sicilian Imports Inc. Be careful not to step into the mission circle. Now go to a post that’s holding up the railroad tracks and take cover. Pull out a gun and shoot one thug in the head. The other should start running so hit him as well. Then, from some where unimaginable comes a third thug. Kill him and go on in. Extort the owner by destroying his property then punching him a few times. I didn’t go all the way and stopped at $1,100 but you can keep going. After that go through the back door. Then up the stairs, through the double doors, up another set of stairs, and then finally into the small room on the left. Blow up the safe and take the money. Trapani’s Bakery Location: Canal Street and Mulberry Street Controlling Family: Stracci Weakness of Shopkeeper: Throws, Slams, and Leans Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $ Description: Get to Trapani’s Bakery. There should be two thugs in front, one in back. Go down the alley right of the bakery. Buy some pistol ammo if you need then hide behind the wall. Take out a gun and shoot the thug in the head. The two from up front come running down. Shoot them as well. Then go through the front door. Talk to mama then break some of her stuff until she gets pissed and pays you $900 (trust me: she’s a tough cookie). There’s no racket in the back but there is a safe. Blow it up and get the money stashed inside. Now upgrade your shooting one notch and get out. NOTE: Right about now you should be getting your first weekly cut. Arezzo Seafood Location: Allen Street and Eldridge Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of Shopkeeper: Grabs and Strangles Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $ Description: Get to Arezzo Seafood. There are four thugs surrounding the place. Two in front and two in the crevice across the street. There are no places to hide so just open fire and kill all four. Then go through the front door. I held the owner and strangled him using X and I went all the way. Now there’s a racket and a safe upstairs so be careful. Kill the two thugs and take the Molotov in the back. Then intimidate the racket boss by pointing guns at him until he pays $900. Bella Siciliana Location: Broadway and East Houston Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $$ Description: By now, your heat with the Tattaglias could be up to medium. That means they’ll start shooting at you when you pass by. Go bribe the FBI Agent if you need to. Now get to Bella Siciliana’s. There’s two thugs in front of the restaurant, two in the crevice to the left of it, and two in the crevice to the right of it. There are no places to hide so open fire. Once the six are taken care of go inside. Beat up some bystanders, destroy the register, and then throw her around a bit. I’d settle with $1,200. Then go through the back door with a loaded firearm. Kill all the thugs and then try to intimidate the boss with strangles and firearms. He’s hard to crack and I settled with the lowest payout: $250. After that, go downstairs and crack the safe. Take the dynamite and emerge from the shop unscathed. Boolie’s Bakery Location: Hester Street and Bowery Controlling Family: Cuneo Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Throws, Slams, and Leans Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $$ Description: Go to Boolie’s Bakery. There are six thugs altogether. Two in front, two across the street, and two in the alley left of the bakery. I’d start with the alley. Go all the way down and hide behind the wall. Take out a weapon and shoot the fat thug first. Then when the second thug starts running shoot him too. Right about now you’ve created a ruckus so all the Cuneo mob men are running towards the alley. Reload and pop a couple in the head if you can. Then come out of hiding and kill everyone else point blank. Then go in. When you go in destroy all the counters and the register then punch the owner a couple of times. I quit at $1,100. Now let’s go downstairs shall we? Kill the lone thug then convince the racket boss to pay you no less than $1,000. Then blow up the safe. Take the money and the dynamite and walk out a free man. Oh yeah. I almost forgot...right now you should have respect level 9 so upgrade your speed and health one notch each too. Harry’s Bar Location: Grand Street and Allen Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening with Firearms Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $$ Description: If your heat with the Tattaglias is just too much go and bribe the FBI Agent of Little Italy . Either way, go to Harry’s Bar. There are four thugs in front of the bar. Kill them then go inside. The other door is locked so speak to Harry. Convince him to pay (I went to $1,020 but you can go farther). Then go through the back door. Kill everyone in every room then go downstairs kill the thugs in here. Then beat up the boss until he coughs up no less than $1000. Go back upstairs and inside the office on the left. There should be a safe here to bomb. After that’s done, walk out. Primola Location: Allen Street and Eldridge Street Controlling Family: Cuneo Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Throws, Slams, and Leans Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $$ Description: Go to Primola. There are four thugs in front of Primolas and one inside. Hide behind a trash can or something and shoot them all in the head. After they’re dead head on inside. Talk to the owner but stop at around $950 or else he’ll die. Now take out a good weapon and go through the back door. Kill the two thugs there and convince the racket boss to pay you no less than $1,000. By now you should have leveled up. Upgrade your street smarts then crack the safe. Take the money and the dynamite and walk out a little bit richer. Saint Martin Hotel Location: Broome Street and Broadway Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $$ Description: Go to the Saint Martin Hotel. There are six thugs guarding the hotel (tough place!). Two in the front two across the street and two in the crevice to the right of the hotel. Hide behind a wall and take them all out then head on in. Throw the maid around a couple of times then strangle the lady until she pays about $1,300. Now lets go check out the racket. There is a stairwell by the elevators. Go up one floor with either a shotty or a tommy gun. Kill the guard then go up another floor. Here’s where the fun begins. Kill the thug hiding behind the couch. Then hide there yourself as you take out the remaining thugs. When that’s done, approach the racket boss for a little negotiation. Talk to him (or punch him, whatever makes you feel better) until he coughs up no less than $2,500. Then blow the safe in the room with the long window. Take the cash, the stick of dynamite, and walk out. Businesses to Extort: Medium The Continental Location: Going South on Broadway Before Worth Street Controlling Family: Cuneo Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Firearms Min Payout: $450 Max Payout: $1,800 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $565 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $2,250 Net Value: $ Description: Go to The Continental. Four thugs surround the place. Three in the front and one across the street. Kill the loner first then the three remaining thugs. Then head on in. Go upstairs first. There are three thugs up there kill them all and head back down. Talk to the host and head into the main room. There's a lone thug in here so be careful. Kill him and talk to the manager. I'd settle with about $700 payout but you can even farther. He's just hard to crack. Now there should be a back door on the main floor somewhere. Find and go through to see a really scared worker and a safe. Crack it, take the cash and the TNT then walk out. Va Va Voom Room Location: Duanne Street and West Street Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Firearms Min Payout: $450 Max Payout: $1,800 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $565 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $2,250 Net Value: $ Description: Go to Va Va Voom Room. There are three thugs guarding it. Two in the front and one off to the left. Now carefully hide in the crevice to the right of Va Va Voom Room and execute one thug. While the other two start running towards you, move your reticule a little up and shoot again, and again for the final guy. Now be careful. There might be another bad guy coming down the stairs to the left. Now go in. Now as soon as you get inside shoot and kill the thug to your left. Once he's taken care of talk to the host and go into the main part of the building: the stage and the bar. Now the owner doesn't take kindly to unwelcome visitors. So take her by the throat and slam her head against the bar until she cracks. Go until you get a payout of about $1,500. Now go through the door to the right of the bar. Turn left and keep going until you see a safe to your left. Blow it up and take the money and the dynamite. Then walk out. Sammy's Location: Doyes Street and Bowery Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Firearms Min Payout: $450 Max Payout: $1,800 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $565 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $2,250 Net Value: $$ Description: Go to Sammy's. Three thugs guard the place: two up front and one across. Kill the one across the street first so you can get a better reaction time until the other two attack. When they're taken care of, head on in. Kill the two guys that rush at you at the entrance then go upstairs to take over the racket. There are two thugs here; shoot them and move on. Now with the racket boss you can go all the way; $1,000. After that go downstairs. Speak to the owner and stop at about $1,500. Then blow the safe in the room to the right of the entrance. Take the dough and dynamite and go home. NOTE: After you've taken over this business you should at least be at level 11 respect (if you've been following this guide). Upgrade your fighting. Smoke Signals Location: Canal and Bowery Street Controlling Family: Cuneo Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Melee Attacks Min Payout: $450 Max Payout: $1,800 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $565 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $2,250 Net Value: $$ Description: This place is pretty much straightforward. Go here, take out all of the Cuneo thugs and extort the shopkeeper for around $2,000. Then walk out...just kidding! There is a racket dealing cigars in this joint and a safe. Blow the safe and extort (throw, slam, and lean) the racket boss for about $1,700-$1,800. Whoo! $4000 richer! Hotel Alioto Location: Barclay Street and Church Street Controlling Family: Stracci Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $450 Max Payout: $1,800 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $565 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $2,250 Net Value: $$ Description: Go to Hotel Alioto. Six thugs are surrounding it. Two in the front, two in the crevice to the right, and two in the crevice across the street. Now the basic plan of attack is to hide behind a wall and try to get headshots each time. If you can't do that just rush in. Now extorting the owner isn't that hard. You just have to slam his head into the counter a couple of times that's all. I stopped at around $1,000. Now lets head on upstairs. There might be a guard prowling the stairs so be careful. Stop on the third floor and kill the thug trying to hide behind the couch. Take his place and take out each thug one by one until it's safe enough to go in. Talk to the racket boss and then blow the safe to get some more cash. Before walking out you at least be at level 11. Take the time to upgrade your shooting. It'll help you in the long run. RACKET TRUCKS When you're en route to a mission, about to extort a business, or on the street with out a purpose, and you spot a racket truck, attempt to halo it (stopping it at a junction and shooting the windshield), dispatch the crew inside, interrogate the driver, and then locate your nearest safehouse to flee from the cops. This can be dangerous, so be sure you've just saved, and you're not in the middle (or at the end) of a mission. Try hijacking four to five trucks to get the hang of this. BANKS There are two banks in Little Italy, and you should aim to rob the one nearest your initial safehouse. The Bowery Bank is straightforward; park a truck facing facing your safehouse, drop the dynamite, then flee to your truck and race to the safehouse at breakneck speeds. Savings and Loans bank offers double the money, but it's extremely far from your safehouse. With this in mind try taking over the Stracci-owned Alioto Hotel to the south, then purchase that safehouse (for $40,000). The expenditure may not seem worth it, but the safehouse is useful for more than just a bank hideout location. NOTE: Blowing up a bank safe nets you cash, but unlike destroying a safe, your dynamite isn't replenished afterwards. Try visiting a black market merchant after every heist to keep your dynamite stock up to par. SAFES Whenever you extort a business and a racket, be sure you check for a safe, then blow it up. You receive another stick of dynamite, and a bag of swag that could contain up to $1,000. Your goal is to collect all the items each business has to offer; the safe is the most important, but collect stray money, items, weapons, and ammunition too. NOTE: Don't forget to crack the safes inside the clinics too. CONTRACT HITS Don't worry about looking for gangsters that have especially annoyed the Corleone Family; you haven't met Salvatore Tessio yet. BRIBING THE POLICE If you need to lose so heat. be sure you visit the cop shop; there's only one in Little Italy. Head into the parking area to the left, and talk to the police chief. Have some money handy. Also bribe beat cops if your heat level escalates past two. WAREHOUSES AND TRANSPORT HUBS There are actually five warehouses and hubs in Little Italy (one of which is derelict), but it isn't wise to take them over until you've spent some more skill points. RIVAL FAMILY COMPOUNDS Little Italy is unique as there are no other Family compounds except the Corleone's (the Family you're allied to). By all means head to the Corleone Compound; if you can get inside either building, check the basement for a stash of pistol ammunition. WEAPON PURCHASES AND UPGRADES There are about 12 black market merchants in the greater Little Italy area (including the industrial area to the west). Head there for ammunition, health (although the Doctor's office is better), and more importantly, an upgrade to your revolver. Note you don't have to have bought the "level 2" to buy the "level 3"; but you'll receive a large (7,500 respect) bonus for doing so. Check your expenses, then opt for the Level 2, then the Level 3 (Saturday night special) revolver if you can afford it. SAFEHOUSES It isn't necessary to purchase a safehouse this early into your expedition, as the Grand Apartments provides access to the Bowery Bank and a cluster of businesses to extort. There are four safehouses in Little Italy: The Saint Martin Hotel, which is only marginally closer to the Tattaglia warehouse to the west (extort the hotel, but buy the room later). The Bowery Hotel is only needed when taking in the Tattaglia warehouse on the east side of town. This is a Barzini stronghold, and should be left well alone. Hotel Alioto would be the first choice for your next safehouse; it's near Brooklyn so you can extend your empire before you're given a safehouse there later in the game. The cost is astronomical, but it will pay for itself when you're running from the cops after you just robbed Savings and Loans. MOBFACE CLOTHING Keep it stylish. Keep it smart. But keep on buying it! The respect bonuses are exceptional, and the clothing is reasonably inexpensive. Try to get two or three complete outfits. FBI AGENTS There's only one FBI agent in the whole of Little Italy, and it's only necessary to find him if you start a mob war. As the Tattaglias are the major problem, you're likely to be dealing with them primarily. Check Tom's report; there's no concern until you start tackling down warehouses. STOLEN SHIPMENTS There are no stolen shipments in Little Italy, so don't concern yourself with finding any. FAMILY FIGHTS AND EXECUTIONS There's only one spot where an attack between rival Families occurs; just north of the black market merchant selling the upgraded pistol you want. Meet him during the day to minimize the chances of being attacks, or at night to experience the battle. Look out for two locations where an execution takes place. FILM REELS Collecting the 100 film reels nets you a total of 100,000 respect points. It's vital to find as many as possible during the early stages, as they really help you race through respect levels. Make sure you find all 20 in the greater Little Italy area. Optionally, head to neighboring boroughs to claim the stashes there, too. Get as many film reels as possible, as early as possible. Film Reel #1: In the northeast corner of the alley nest to the Verona warehouse. Film Reel #2: In front of the door inside the fenced in area. Film Reel #3: Just inside the St. Francis' Hospital gate on the west side. Film Reel #4: Tucked next to the trash bin behind Sicilian Imports Inc. Film Reel #5: Behind the newsstand. Film Reel #6: Near the door at the top of the stairs to Molsenni's. |
