Hey y'all.
So I thought I'd write this short guide as a basis for people who wish to RolePlay
(hereafter known as RP) but don't know how to.
Well, here goes...
Introduction;
RP is the changing of your behavior to act a role as a character of either your making, or
someone else's creation. In short, it means you're playing a different person than
yourself.
RP comes in many forms, such as online forums where someone posts then in turn, someone
replies to that post with their own post, this can be found on websites such as Gaia etc.
It also comes in the form of a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game)
such as World of Warcraft or Habbo Hotel. I'm going ot use Habbo in this example, until I
update this further that is.
Habbo;
In Habbo Hotel there are many differing RP's, such as the Mafia RP's that are common or
the Army ones. There are alos little known ones such as School Rp's and Vampire or Fantasy
RP's.
The rules do slightly differ between RP's, but this should be pointed out to you if they
deviate from this BASIC guideline.
Rules of RolePlaying;
1. Use Three OR MORE words per line, so for example;
- "Stabs" - This would be Void.
- "As I thrust my knife at you" - This would not be Void and is acceptable.
2. ALWAYS place either - or * before AND after you state an action; (I won't be doing this
in the guide, all these symbols will confuse people...)
- "I kick you in the legs" - That would be taken as spoken, not performed.
- "*I kick you in the legs*" - That would be an action.
3. Do NOT use more than one action per line. So for example this would be Void (if someone
says Void it means that your action is not allowed.);
- "As I draw my sword here and swing it at your head killing you." - Void.
- "As I draw my weapon here"  "I lunge at you with the weapon" - This would not be Void.
4. You have to draw your weapon to attack, as it is either holstered or stored away.
(There are exceptions, like if you already had your weapon out... IF specified.);
- "I slide my sword out here." - Fairly Good example.
- "Swishing my wand down here" - Again, a fairly good example.
5. Do NOT God-Mod (Controlling someones else's actions. (Again, exceptions permitting,
such as the Imperius Curse in Harry Potter)
- "You drop your weapon here." "Then you fall to your knees." "You take the sword lying on
the ground and plunge it into your stomach." - Void.
6. Try to be as LITERATE as possible. It's hard and annoying for other RolePlayers when
they can't understand what you're saying;
- "Ad U Dkie Mt Wrpib Iyr Jere" - Seriously. That's annoying.
- "As I slide my weapon out here" - That's better.
7. Be polite and considerate, unless your character is evil, then you have no reason to go
around killing loads of innocent people...
