it happens to me too. thats why i wanted to see if anyone had answered to ur question, but
it seems no one did. the problem is that the mission 2 is not complete, so the core is not
weak enough to be destroyed. idk why the game doesnt tell u the core is not completely
broken after u destroy the 3 things. btw theres a p***age under every green core so idk.

u have to hit the central

U have to hit the central machine on its back....
the machine always faces ur BFT so this is slightly difficult...
as i played there are two ways to do it...

1) Hit the laser turrets on wall so they can
attack you and move so that the central
machine comes in between and laser hits it
on the back...
u have to do this many times...
2)select guided missiles...
move to one side so the machine is facing
you..
Go to centre and through to other side
p***ing beneath the machine...
but while doing so fire missile and you
will see your BFT to overtake the missile..
the machine follows BFT and turns around
Then guide missile to its back...

Use the red laser and bounce it off walls etc until you can hit the back - look for the
2nd or 3rd reflection - this is the one that should be aimed to back of powerplant.

You can also use the red laser on the 3rd powerplant - go to base and aim so that it is in
the inside middle of ring and wait for a few passes of the diamond reflectors - the will
appear to move when hit - it will take a few hits but just leave your laser on.
