These are to help you locate certain sections of the FAQ, as listed in the index. Use Ctrl + F on most Word Processors and in Internet Explorer to use the Find/Locate command. Example:If you are looking for the section "Coaster Basics - Basics", type 'ii-a' into the Find box. 'ii' is the Index Number and 'a' is the section number. This will take you to the beginning of the section. -=================================================- -= INTRODUCTION =- -=================================================- Index Number: i Rollercoasters are what define your park. That means you'll want to build the best Rollercoasters possible. But because of the high costs involved, you don't have the money to build a failure. So this is here to help you achieve the pinnacle of Rollercoaster building, excitement rates of 6+. -=================================================- -= COASTER BASICS =- -=================================================- Index Number: ii =---------------------------------= =- Basics -= =---------------------------------= Search Field: ii-a Introduction ============ When you choose to build a coaster you are given a choice screen, here you can choose to 'Build a Custom Ride', to build the games default rides, or any you have saved/downloaded. If you choose either the second or third option, you will have to select a location for your Rollercoaster, use the zoom out option to get a better idea of where to put it, and the directional change button(in the window) to change the direction of the Rollercoaster. If you choose to build a Custom Ride, you will have to select the station location, and build on from there, adding climbs, drops, loops and this, that, and the other. Also, when choosing to build a pre-designed ride, you can click the camera icon to see a picture(254x200 pixels) of the ride. This is very helpful to see what the ride looks like. =---------------------------------= =- Design Tips -= =---------------------------------= Search Field: ii-b - Try to build your Rollercoasters with a medium Intensity Rating, almost every guest will go on these rides. Rides with higher intensity ratings attract a lesser crowd, but people will still go on them. Lower intesity rides also attract a smaller number of guests. Try and keep the rating to medium. - The excitement rating of your Rollercoaster is what attracts people to your ride, but if the intensity rating is Ultra-Extreme, you are unlikely to get many guests on it. The higher the Excitement Rating the Better! - The nausea rating of your ride will not effect how many people go on it, but will determine the way they feel getting off. The lower the better, for this one. - The above rules are general rules, but try to build at least one Extreme intensity Rollercoaster(for the wild ones) and one low intensity one (for the scared ones). - When you build a coaster first price it high, then over time lower the price to keep a steady number of guests, and still make a profit. - Always build benches at the exit of your more intense rides. - Try and build toilets near the exits of the Extreme/Ultra-Extreme Rides. - Never build shops near a rollercoaster, a guest with a low nausea rating going on a high intensity ride with a full stomach isn't good for your path. - Acoording to the game manual, you should build low intensity rides near the Rollercoasters to make guests get up the nerve to go on your rollercoasters, personally I don't see the effects of this, but it could work. - Scenery and cross-overs/unders add to the excitement of a ride. - Going underground also adds to the excitement of a ride. - Duelling rollercoasters(ones side by side which are synchronised) increase the excitement of both coasters. - You can only synchronise rides if they are going the same direction and if their stations both end side by side. - You can synchronise more than two Rollercoasters, in one park I have eight(8) synchronised coasters(all synchronised with each other, not four groups of 2, just one group of 8)! - Make sure you have enough handymen to clean up peoples dinners after an intense ride. - Most Rollercoasters are not popular when it's raining, but ones with roofs or covered-in cars are. -=================================================- -= ROLLERCOASTER TYPES =- -=================================================- Index Number: iii -------------------------------------- a) Wooden Side-Friction Roller Coaster -------------------------------------- Construction: Track is laminated wood, topped with a flat steel running rail, constructed on a wooden support structure.
