I am in the underground heading to the White House and have encountered the electronic barriers. The game tells you to look for the door leading to the maintenance room. I can't find a way out and basically am stuck in this spot. Help.

why cant i get past the second part? After I take out the guy on the memorial roof I follow directions to go North
and find a sharp view for a shot. I approach the steps and then the game ends and I have to start over. What am I doing wrong?
