"World of Warcraft is a great game. Its endless and never gets boring. It’s
by
far my favourite game on the PC, and my second favourite game ever (beaten only
by Final Fantasy VII on PSX). The game of world of Warcraft is too big to write
one massive FAQ on what to do and how to do things. I’m sure it'd be the
biggest guide on gameFAQS.
That’s why, here, I have written a guide to one of the professions. I choose
Blacksmithing because my character, BelEnal, Is a blacksmith and I knew a lot
about it. Also, It didn't have an in-depth guide.
This guide also includes a mining guide, A profession that you should have if
you have Blacksmithing or Engineering. However GameFAQs wouldn't allow me to
have a seperate Mining guide as i had presented it, so it has now been included
in this guide.
Mining is a great part of World of warcraft, as you must go literally around
the world mining different vains. This guide explains about every vain and will
give you the location of them all. It also explains how to use the ore when it
comes to blacksmithing and engineering.
I hope later to include engineering into this guide to fully complete the
guide on mining professions, however it may take me a couple of months. Anyway,

=3.1 What's mining? =

"So you want to be a miner? Mining is an exciting Profession used to gather
materials for blacksmithing or engineering. However, you don't need those
Professions to be a miner. You could simply collect resources and sell them to
blacksmiths and engineers. You're going to find these spots anyway as you
travel throughout the world, so why not cash in on them? However, most people
combine mining and blacksmithing or mining and engineering."

Basically mining is the 'excavation of ores, stones and gems' from mineral-rich
veins which with blacksmithing can be used to create weapons, armour and other
items. Without blacksmithing or Enginnering they are used sell in their raw
form to blacksmiths and engineers or NPCs.
Selling to Blacksmiths can get the money im but not until you've got a high
level.
Mining is best paired with Blacksmithing or Engineering.
Mining is a primary profession.

To become a minor you firstly need to find yourself a mining trainer. Below is
a table that shows the location and name of the trainers. Note that there are
specific trainers for Horde and Alliance.

Now your a miner you will need a tool to mine. You can buy from a mining
supplyer a Mining Pick:

=3.3 How to mine=

When your ready to mine you can head out into the world and get yourself some
ore. Simply cast "find mierals" from your spellbook (Hot key P). Now when your
in range of a vein that can be mined it will show up on your minimap (in the
top right of the screen) as a yellow dot. When you get to the location you can
simply right click the vein and your character will start mining. NOTE: There
is no need to equip your mining pick, it will do it automatically.

Instances and battlegrounds also contain Ore. Ore can also be found in chests
or from NPCs.
Veins can contain more than one mineral, Veins contain minerals such as copper,
stone, tin, silver, iron, gold, mithirl, Tigerseye, Shadowgem, Moss Agate and
Jade. Some vains respawn containing rarer metals
Tins can respawn as Silver
Gold can respawn as Iron
Truesilver can respawn as Mithril
All Vains will respawn after time!

Now once youve got lots of cool Ore and minerals go to a forge to smelt them.
Smelting Ore is another spell in your spellbook (hot key P). This turns your
ore into useable metals. To do this you must be at a Forge. These are located
near trainers but not always. below is a list of where there are random forges.

All of the other forges are near mining trainers or blacksmiths.
You may notice that there are different colours with the text 'Requires Mining'
when hovering your cursor over a vein, This indicates whether you are likely to
get a point when mining it. The rise in skill level means that you get better
at mining and this text colour will change for all veins eventually until only
the most precious of ores will increase your skill level.
Once you hit skill level 300 nothing will increase it as that's the max cap.
The colour code is as follows:

Green = Unlikely to get a Mining skill point.
Yellow = Probably get a Mining skill point.
Orange = Will receive a Mining skill point.
Red = Can not create yet, need a higher skill level in Mining

The simple answer is, if your a blacksmith or an enginner is to use them in
your recipes.
If, however you dont have these professions you may want to sell them. Selling
them in the auction house will usually make you more money!

5. WHAT IS BLACKSMITHING

Blacksmithing is a primary skill in the World of Warcraft. When you choose
Blacksmithing you should really take Mining as your second skill as otherwise
you will have to buy items to use.
Blacksmiths produce alot of different types of items, from Armour and weapons
to Sharpening stone, keys and Rods. When you progress to a higher level you
can choose an area of blacksmithing to focus on such as weapsonsmith or
armoursmith.
