Closing Statement _____________________________________________________________________________ | 1. Introduction \ |_____________________________________________________________________________/ Hi there! And thank you for taking the time to read this FAQ for Worms Armageddon, which is, in many people's opinion, the best game of the 'Worms' series for the PC, Gameboy, and many other platforms! As the title suggests, this FAQ will focus on the many weapons and utilities that are crammed into the game (70 in all to be exact). Although this was written with Worms Armageddon in mind, many of the weapons covered here are available in other Worms games, so you may still find this FAQ useful, even if you don't own W/A. (Typing out 'Worms Armageddon' all the time gets tedious, so from now on I will shorten it to W/A). Any feedback, questions or suggestions for how to make this guide better are welcome, so please contact me - My E-Mail address is Melanogaster2042@aol.com. Enough of my rambling- let's get on with the guide! _____________________________________________________________________________ | 2. The Format Of This Guide \ |_____________________________________________________________________________/ Here's how the main section of this guide (3. Weapons/ Utilities) will be set out: Name of Weapon/ Utility: If the weapon is a Special or Super weapon, this will also be stated here. Shortcut Key: Press the F1 - F12 keys up to 5 times to select each weapon. (The amount of times you have to press the key may be less than what is listed if you don't have every weapon). This is not included for utilities. Damage Potential: The maximum amount of damage that the weapon is capable of inflicting.(For 'Cluster' weapons, the damage listed is per cluster. The number of clusters is also given for these weapons). All data is for 3 star power settings. (For the damage potential with other power settings, see Section 4- Tables Of Weapon Data). This is not included for utilities. How to use: How to use this particular weapon/ utility. This was written assuming that you have the PC version. If you have any other version of W/A, check your instruction manual for details on how to use each weapon. Tips/ Strategies: Hints for how to achieve maximum carnage/ efficiency with the weapon/ utility. The weapons are arranged by their shortcut key (F1 weapons first, then F2 etc.) There are two types of utilities; Collectable and Instant-Effect. These are listed in separate sections. That should be pretty much everything that you need to know, so lets get on with it! _____________________________________________________________________________ | 3. Weapons/ Utilities \ |_____________________________________________________________________________/ Here it is; the main section of the guide. If it's information on one particular weapon/ utility you want, you've came to the right place! If you just want general data for the weapons/ utilities, then Section 4- Tables Of Weapon Data is for you. Here we go then.... ________________ | 3.1. F1 Weapons\ |________________/ These weapons can all be accessed by pressing the F1 key. These are all missile launchers of some sort. Name: Bazooka Shortcut Key: F1 x 1 Damage Potential: 50 pts. How to use: Use the crosshair to aim the Bazooka, and when you're ready to fire, hold down the Space Bar (The longer you hold it, the more powerful the shot will be). Release to fire. To fire at full power, hold Space until the Bazooka fires automatically. Tips/ Strategies: -Remember that the Bazooka shell is affected by wind, so check the wind gauge before firing. -This, alongside a lot of other weapons, can be skimmed across water. To do so, stand next to the water, aim horizontally and fire at a high power. (This works best if the wind is helping). -This will probably be one of your most used weapons, so practice with it a lot. -Aim where there are groups of enemy worms to stand a better chance of hitting something (This applies to pretty much every weapon) -If an area of the map is covered in Petrol Bomb fire, shoot the Bazooka at it to knock the fire about, hopefully onto the enemies. Name: Homing Missile Shortcut Key: F1 x 2 Damage Potential: 50 pts. How to use: Click the mouse where you want the missile to go, and then simply aim and fire the same way as you would fire a Bazooka. The missile will start to home in after about half a second. Tips/ Strategies: -In open levels, aim straight up and fire at full power to give yourself the best chance of the missile hitting -If you have a Homing Pigeon or a Magic Bullet, use those instead as they are far more reliable -Try to avoid using this if there are many obstacles between you and the target. The missile homes straight in and will not try to avoid obstacles. -Remember that the missiles can travel underwater, but fire too hard and it will sink. Name: Mortar Shortcut Key: F1 x 3 Damage Potential: 20 + 20 per cluster (5 clusters) How to use: Aim the same way as you would a Bazooka, and press Space to fire. You do not need to hold Space down; it automatically fires at full power. Tips/ Strategies: -In Caverns, use it to simulate Air Strikes by firing it into the roof. The clusters will drop down, hopefully onto enemy worms. -If there is a worm standing at the top of a cliff, and another worm directly below the cliff, fire at the worm on top. If you hit, not only will you damage the worm on top of the cliff, but the clusters will all drop down onto the worm below! -For maximum damage, go for worms in confined spaces. Name: Homing Pigeon- SPECIAL WEAPON! Shortcut Key: F1 x 4 Damage Potential: 75 pts. How to use: Same as a Homing Missile, but you don't need to select how strong you want the shot to be. Tips/ Strategies: -The perfect special weapon for beginners, as it doesn't require much skill to use successfully. -It's a lot more accurate than the Homing Missile, but make sure there isn't too much in your way if you want the pigeon to have a good chance of hitting the target -Unlike the other animal weapons, it can't collect crates for you. -Remember: Unlike the other homing weapons, it can't go underwater. (Did you really expect a pigeon to be able to swim?!) Name: Sheep Launcher- SPECIAL WEAPON! Shortcut Key: F1 x 5 Damage Potential: 75 pts. How to use: Same as the Mortar, but only fires at about half power. Press Space to detonate the sheep. Tips/ Strategies: -If you use sheep a lot, this is the perfect special weapon for you. -Want to release a sheep, but there's a gap/ hill in the way? Use this in those situations. As the manual says, it's ' For those who have problems getting it up' (No Viagra jokes please!) -Remember that you can't detonate it until it lands. -Be careful not to overshoot your target. You can fall short, and the sheep will run towards the target, but overshoot and you're screwed. _______________ | 3.2 F2 Weapons\ |_______________/ Press F2 to get your hands on these weapons. Most are Grenade- type weapons. Name: Grenade Shortcut Key: F2 x 1 Damage Potential: 50 pts. How to use: Use the 1-5 keys to set the fuse time (in seconds), set a high/ low bounce with the + and - keys, aim, then hold down Space to fire. The longer you hold Space, the stronger your throw will be. Tips/ Strategies: -If you're going after a worm located in a valley, set a high fuse time to allow the grenade to bounce down to the bottom of the valley -Out of Dynamite/ Mines? Stand next to a cliff edge and just press Space to drop the grenade onto the enemy worms below! -This too can be skimmed across water (Stand near to the water, aim horizontally and fire at full power.) -Need Practice? Go to the 'Artillery Range' section of training. It is advisable to do this, as the grenade will probably be your second most used weapon (Behind the Bazooka.) Name: Cluster Bomb Shortcut Key: F2 x 2 Damage Potential: 20 + 20 per Cluster (5 Clusters) How to use: Same as Grenade Tips/ Strategies: -' Fire in the Hole' (Placing the bomb on a worm's head when it is standing in a confined space, so that all the clusters hit it, causing a load of damage) is a popular use for this weapon, however it is frowned upon most of the time. This move usually averages about 70 - 80 pts. of damage -To simulate an Air Strike, set a low fuse time and throw it high into the air. -Grenade tactics also apply to this weapon. Name: Banana Bomb Shortcut Key: F2 x 3 Damage Potential: 75 + 75 per Banana (5 Bananas) How to use: Same as Grenade Tips/ Strategies: -Pretty much the same as the Cluster Bomb, as the Banana Bomb is basically the same, just far more powerful. -Using 'Fire in the Hole' with the Banana can do an INSANE amount of damage. (Melanogaster's Record: 429 pts.) -Remember that it bounces a little higher than a Grenade or Cluster Bomb. Name: Battle Axe Shortcut Key: F2 x 4 Damage Potential: Half of the Worm's energy. How to use: Simply select the Axe, walk up to a worm, and press Space to chop them up. Tips/ Strategies: -This weapon is unique in that it takes away half your victim's energy away instead of doing a fixed amount of damage. For this reason, try to go for worms that have a lot of health. -It is possible to do an enormous amount of damage if you hit a bunch of worms that are all in a group. -Using this weapon is a novel way of killing worms with only 1 point of energy left. (This is the only way to kill worms with this weapon.) Name: Earthquake- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F2 x 5 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Just select it and press Space to start the quake! Tips/ Strategies:-Although this does no damage itself, Mines can get shaken into worms, damaging them. -Worms can also be hurt if they fall off cliffs, or killed if the shaking makes them boogie into the bog (water)! -Of course, this affects your own worms too, so make sure that they're not near Mines, cliffs or water when you start shaking things up. ________________ | 3.3. F3 Weapons\ |________________/ These weapons are all Gun- type weapons, and can be accessed by hitting F3. Name: Shotgun Shortcut Key: F3 x 1 Damage Potential: 50 pts. How to use: Aim, then press Space to fire. You get 2 shots with this, so just press Space again to fire your 2nd shot. Tips/ Strategies: -Make sure that you aren't standing too close to the worm you want to shoot, otherwise you will hurt yourself as well, and be unable to complete your turn :-( -Use it to kill two worms with 25 pts. of energy or less, or a single worm with 50 pts. of energy. -Combine this with the Laser Sight utility to increase your accuracy. -If you need to practice, check out the 'Rifle Range' section of training. -Shoot Oil Drums and Crates to cause even more mayhem. However, intentionally shooting crates (called 'Fire Bombing') is usually frowned upon. Name: Handgun Shortcut Key: F3 x 2 Damage Potential: 30 pts. How to use: Aim, then press Space to fire. You can strafe up and down by adjusting your aim as you fire. Tips/ Strategies: -Take advantage of the strafe function of this weapon, as the rate of fire is slow enough that you can easily strafe to hit a lot of worms in one turn. -For maximum damage, shoot worms that are pinned up against a wall. -If you have Uzis or Miniguns, use them instead as they are essentially the same, just more powerful. Name: Uzi Shortcut Key: F3 x 3 Damage Potential: 50 pts. How to use: Same as Handgun Tips/ Strategies: -To cause maximum damage, go after worms that are standing near to walls. -If you are standing directly below a worm on a bridge, aim straight up and shoot. The bullets will push that worm higher and higher into the air, and it will fall back to earth when the shots stop, causing even more damage due to the fall. -If you have one, use the Minigun instead as it is far more powerful. Name: Minigun Shortcut Key: F3 x 4 Damage Potential: 100 pts. How to use: Same as Handgun Tips/ Strategies: -See the Tips/ Strategies for the Uzi, as the Minigun is basically the same, just more powerful. -This weapon is also powerful enough to kill a full health (100 pts.) worm in one go- if you hit it perfectly. -Because of the great power of this weapon, try to save it for finishing off more than one worm at a time. Name: Longbow Shortcut Key: F3 x 5 Damage Potential: 30 pts. How to use: Same as Shotgun Tips/ Strategies: -Fire the arrows into walls and use them as platforms to stand on. Also use them to scale cliffs. (You have to do this in the 9th Mission- 'Water Surprise' -Remember that you can't aim straight up or straight down with this. -Shotgun tactics also apply here. ________________ | 3.4. F4 Weapons\ |________________/ These are the Close Combat and Suicidal Weapons. Hit F4 to select them. Name: Fire Punch Shortcut Key: F4 x 1 Damage Potential: 30 pts. How to use: Stand next to your enemy, then press Space to whack 'em! Tips/ Strategies: -Use with Low Gravity to knock them really high! -Hit worms standing on bridges just above you by punching when you are directly below them. -You can backflip and punch when you are in mid-air to gain some extra height. Name: Dragon Ball Shortcut Key: F4 x 2 Damage Potential: 30 pts. How to use: Simply press Space to shoot out the ball. Tips/ Strategies: -Combine with low gravity to knock them about as far as you would be able to with a Baseball Bat. -Hit worms standing near cliff edges to send them flying to their doom! -Another use for this weapon is to knock enemies into Mines. Name: Kamikaze Shortcut Key: F4 x 3 Damage Potential: 30 pts. How to use: Aim the Kamikaze with the Up/ Down then press Space to blast away. Tips/ Strategies: -You're certain to lose your worm if you try this, so only use it with low health worms, or if you can hit a load of enemies in one go. -Remember: You can use the Laser Sight to aim the Kamikaze, so make sure you don't miss! -The perfect time to use this is if you're standing on a bridge with a load of enemies. You can just shoot straight across and slam into them all! Name: Suicide Bomber- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F4 x 4 Damage Potential: 30 pts. (Poison: 5 per turn) How to use: As with many other weapons, just press Space to activate it. Tips/ Strategies: -Stand directly on top of enemies when exploding to do the most damage, but the poison cloud will not get them if you try this. -Take the wind into account, as which way the poison cloud goes is determined by which way the wind is blowing. -As with the Kamikaze, try to use only with low health worms. -Remember that the poison can't kill worms; the most it can do is reduce their health to 1 Hit Point. Therefore hitting 1-health worms with the poison does nada. Name: Prod Shortcut Key: F4 x 5 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Stand next to your victim and hit Space to prod them. Tips/ Strategies: -Make sure you are standing as close as possible to your victim or you will miss. (This is something I've done more times than you can count.) -This does no damage on it's own, so only use it to push worms into the water, mines, fire, or off the edge of cliffs. -Want to REALLY humiliate your opponent? Finish them off with the mighty prod! ________________ | 3.5. F5 Weapons\ |________________/ The Dynamite style weapons, as well as animal weapons can be found here. Just press F5. Name: Dynamite Shortcut Key: F5 x 1 Damage Potential: 75 pts. How to use: Press Space to drop the stick of Dynamite. Tips/ Strategies: -Drop it off the edge of cliffs onto enemy worms below! -You only get one of these, so use it wisely. (Go after groups of worms.) -A common way of using this weapon is to drop it from a rope. (See the information for the Ninja Rope (In the F8 Weapons section) to find out how to do this.) -If you run out of Dynamite, use Grenades or Mines as substitutes. -Try to knock Worms high into the air with this weapon. To do so, drop the Dynamite slightly to the side of the enemy worm. When it goes boom, the enemy will be sent flying away. Name: Mine Shortcut Key: F5 x 2 Damage Potential: 50 pts. How to use: Same as Dynamite Tips/ Strategies: -Even though Mines that are on the level at the start of the round may be duds, mines that are dropped by worms are always live, and always have a 3 second fuse. -Walk up to Mines and clobber them with a Baseball Bat to knock them away. You may even get lucky and have the mine blow up right in your enemy's face! (This tactic is only advisable if the mines have a long fuse time!) -If you're using 'Darkside' tactics (digging underground, hiding away and letting everybody else do the dirty work for you), use Mines to stop others from gaining access to any tunnels you have created. -If an enemy freezes, hit them with a Mine to crate havoc when they unfreeze. -Dynamite tactics also apply to Mines. Name: Sheep Shortcut Key: F5 x 3 Damage Potential: 75 pts. How to use: Press Space to release your fluffy friend, and when you want to blow it up, press Space again. If you wait too long, the sheep will blow itself up. Tips/ Strategies: -Probably the most famous of all the weapons, the sheep is very powerful... and very erratic. For this reason, try to use something more reliable instead. -Remember that it can collect crates for you. -Make sure that it has a clear path to the target; build a path out of girders if necessary. Name: Super Sheep- SPECIAL WEAPON! Shortcut Key: F5 x 4 Damage Potential: 75 pts. How to use: Press Space to launch, and Space again to make the sheep fly! Steer using the arrow keys. Press Space a third time to make the sheep come crashing back down to Earth. Tips/ Strategies: -If you're good at steering these things, having this weapon can give you a great advantage. If you're absolutely rubbish though, this is pretty much a liability. -Use it to hit worms that would otherwise be impossible to get to. -You can also use it to grab crates. -If you need to practice flying these things, go to the 'Super Sheep Racing' section of training. -You can also use these as regular Sheep. Name: Aqua Sheep- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F5 x 4 Damage Potential: 75 pts. How to use: Same as Super Sheep. Tips/ Strategies: -If you get one of these, it will replace the Super Sheep in the weapon selection menu. -This is exactly the same as the Super Sheep, but it can swim as well as fly! -Take full advantage of the swimming function; you may not be able to hit some worms without it. Name: Mole Bomb- SPECIAL WEAPON! Shortcut key: F5 x 5 Damage Potential: 30 pts. How to use: Press Space to release, and Space again to make it burrow down into the ground. Press Space again to detonate Tips/ Strategies: -Remember that it jumps up before burrowing down into the ground, so don't use it if there is some land just above your head, otherwise it will burrow into that land instead! -Use to gain access to tunnels created by 'Darksiders', then chuck something powerful down the newly-made hole to blast them out! -When choosing your special weapon, choose something else (unless you have a serious grudge against 'Darksiders')as this is the weakest of the 8 weapons available. ________________ | 3.6. F6 weapons\ |________________/ The next 5 weapons are all strikes of some sort, and can be used by pressing F6. Name: Air Strike Shortcut Key: F6 x 1 Damage Potential: 30 per Missile (5 Missiles) How to use: Click your target to call in the strike, no need to press Space. You can change which direction the strike comes from by pressing the left/right arrow keys. Tips/ Strategies: -Try to go after worms located in hard to reach places. -Take advantage of the direction change function to get more accurate hits. -Try to save it until the end of the round; you probably need it better then. -This goes for all strikes: Remember that you can't call it in if you are playing a cavern level. Name: Napalm Strike Shortcut Key: F6 x 2 Damage Potential: 50-60 pts. on average How to use: Same as Air Strike Tips/ Strategies: -The napalm is affected by wind, so check the wind gauge before firing. -Need more fire? Target Oil Drums. The napalm will make them overheat and explode, spewing even more fire everywhere! -Target worms that are near the water. All that fire will send them bouncing around, hopefully into the drink. Name: Mail Strike- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F6 x 3 Damage Potential: 50 per Letter (5 Letters) How to use: Same as Air Strike Tips/ Strategies: -This too is affected by wind; check the wind gauge before firing. -Air strike tactics also apply here Name: Mine Strike- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F6 x 4 Damage Potential: 50 per Mine (5 Mines) How to use: Same as Air Strike Tips/ Strategies: -Remember that Mines bounce a lot; take this into account when deciding where to strike. -Drop this in a valley where there are enemy worms. The sides of the valley will funnel the Mines towards them. -Or create a chute out of girders to get a similar effect. Name: Mole Squadron- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F6 x 5 Damage Potential: 30 per Mole (5 Moles) How to use: Same as Air Strike. Press Space to detonate the moles. Tips/ Strategies: -Use this when somebody is 'Darksiding' to really screw them over by exposing them to attack. -As with the Mole Bomb, drop Grenades, Cluster bombs etc. down the newly-made holes to blow up the darksiders! -Can be used as a substitute for a regular Air Strike by blowing up the moles as soon as they hit the ground. ________________ | 3.7. F7 Weapons\ |________________/ Here are the F7 Weapons. Most of these are tools that 'Darksiders' normally use. Name: Blowtorch Shortcut Key: F7 x 1 Damage Potential: 15 per Hit How to use: Press Space to start torching. Adjust the angle of the Blowtorch with the up and down keys. Press Space again to stop torching. Tips/ Strategies: -Hide away by tunnelling into the land with this weapon. This is by far the most popular way of using this weapon, but it's considered cheap and is called 'Darksiding'. -The only other real use for this weapon is to torch the other worms with it. (And effectively using the torch instead of the Prod, but this actually does damage.) Name: Drill Shortcut Key: F7 x 2 Damage Potential: 15 per Hit How to use: Like the Blowtorch, but you can only dig straight down. Tips/ Strategies: -Like the Blowtorch, use for Darksiding, if you wish to stoop that low. -Stand on another worm's head and Drill it to cause the most damage. -Be careful when using this, as you become a sitting duck for the likes of Dynamite and Mines. Name: Girder Shortcut Key: F7 x 3 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Use the arrow keys to rotate the Girder, Left click to place it. You can get double length Girders by rotating it until it appears twice as long. Tips/ Strategies: -There are many ways to use a Girder. Here are some: -Use as a grenade deflector. -Create a path for sheep. -Block up entrances to your tunnels if you're a Darksider. -Create a funnel for Grenades. -Block in other worms to stop them from moving. (A VERY cheap strategy.) Name: Baseball Bat Shortcut Key: F7 x 4 Damage Potential: 30 pts. How to use: Simply walk up to a worm, aim the bat and press Space to smack it! Tips/ Strategies: -Combine with Low Gravity to hit worms a million miles! -Best used to knock worms into the water. -Try to hit worms into other worms in order to damage/ kill both of them. -Also try knocking worms into Mines, or even smashing the Mines away! Name: Girder Starter Pack- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F7 x 5 Damage Potential: N/A How to use : Same as Girder Tips/ Strategies: -See the tips for how to use Girders, as the only difference is that you may place 5 in one turn with the Starter Pack. ________________ | 3.8. F8 Weapons\ |________________/ Hit F8 to get at these weapons. Most are movement tools: Name: Ninja Rope Shortcut Key: F8 x 1 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Aim the rope, then press Space to fire. Swing with the left/ right keys, adjust the length with the up/ down keys. Release the rope by pressing Space again, but you can re-attach it by hitting Space yet again. Drop weapons from the rope by selecting the weapon while on the rope, and pressing Enter. Tips/ Strategies: -There are way too many rope tips to list here, so here are just a few: -Take advantage of the repeat swing function to cover large distances in just one turn. -Try to set off Mines as you swing by to cause some mayhem. (Only advisable if the Mines have a long fuse time!) -Use Girders to create a 'base' to attach the rope to. -Dynamite is a very popular weapon to drop from the rope. -Some people don't like this tactic, but you can swing towards enemy worms, then press Space just before you reach them to detach the rope, sending you flying into them and knocking them away. This is called 'Rope Knocking' -If you need to practice, check out the 'Crazy Crates' section of training. Name: Bungee Shortcut Key: F8 x 2 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Press Space to select the Bungee, then just walk of a cliff, and it will automatically activate. Press Space again to detach the Bungee, or select a weapon and press Enter to drop it while bouncing around. Tips/ Strategies: -Use it to drop off a cliff without worrying about falling and hurting yourself. -Make sure that there are no Mines on the ground where you will land! -Don't drop weapons that are too powerful, or you will be caught in the blast. Name: Parachute Shortcut Key: F8 x 3 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Pretty much the same as the Bungee. Use the arrow keys to control your worm's movement. Tips/ Strategies: -You are affected by the wind, to check the wind gauge before using the 'chute. -Make sure that your expected landing area is clear of Mines. -Combine with low gravity to float a looooooong way! Name: Teleport Shortcut Key: F8 x 4 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Simply press Space to select, then click where you want to teleport to. Tips/ Strategies: -Use to get out of a bad position. -The best places to teleport are: Away from cliffs, Mines and Oil Drums. Avoid teleporting where you could easily be knocked into the water. -Other bad places to teleport are: Next to one of your own worms, Directly below cliffs and on Bridges where, if you fall off, you will be hurt/ killed. -If it's 'Sudden Death' and the water is rising, teleport as high as you can. -If you have Crate Spy, teleport to the good crates to save those ropes. Name: Scales of Justice- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F8 x 5 Damage Potential: Evens out everybody's energy. How to use: All you have to do is press Space to redistribute everybody's energy. Tips/ Strategies: -There's not a lot to say about this one. Only use it when you're behind (Obviously). -This can really change the complexion of the match. If you had a single 1 HP worm before, and your opponent had eight 100 HP worms, you will now have a 400 HP worm, and your opponent's worms will be down to 50 HP each. Generally speaking, the team with the most worms left will have a slight advantage after you use this. ________________ | 3.9. F9 Weapons\ |________________/ All of these weapons are either special or super weapons, and can be selected with the F9 key: Name: Super Banana Bomb- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F9 x 1 Damage Potential: 75 per Banana (5 Bananas) How to use: Throw like a normal Banana Bomb, but you choose when to detonate it. Just press Space to blow up the original banana, then Space again to blow up the other bananas. Tips/ Strategies: -Press space twice in quick succession to make a REALLY big bang. You can do 400+ points of damage with this move! -Regular Banana Bomb tactics also apply to this weapon. Name: Holy Hand Grenade- SPECIAL WEAPON! Shortcut Key: F9 x 2 Damage Potential: 100 pts. How to use: Same as a regular Grenade, but you can't change the fuse time or set a high/ low bounce. Tips/ Strategies: -If you're good with Grenades, or like dropping weapons from the Ninja Rope, this special weapon is a good choice. -Remember that you can't change the fuse time, and that it only blows up when it comes to rest. -Make sure that you are well clear of the blast, as it leaves a rather large crater. -Combining this with Double Damage = The ultimate in large explosions! Name: Flamethrower- SPECIAL WEAPON! Shortcut Key: F9 x 3 Damage Potential: 50-75 pts. on average How to use: Aim, then press Space to light up the opposition! Press the up and down keys to change your aim when firing. Tips/ Strategies: -A good choice of special weapon if you're good with the gun type weapons. -Remember that the fire is affected by wind- as always, check the wind gauge first, or you may end up burning yourself :-( -Go for worms standing next to walls to do the most damage, as the fire pins them up against the wall. You can do over 100 pts. if you're good! -It is possible to push worms up into the air with this weapon. -Heat up Oil Drums until they explode for even more fire! Name: Salvation Army- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F9 x 4 Damage Potential: 75 + 75 per Tambourine (5 Tambourines) How to use: Press Space to send the cranky old lady on her way, and press Space a second time to blow her up and release the tambourines. Tips/ Strategies: -For the most damage, blow it up in a confined space. A 400 point blast is possible if you do this. -She can also collect crates for you. -Dropping it from a rope is a popular way of using this weapon. -Make sure that you aren't standing too close when you detonate it; this thing has a serious amount of power. Name: MB Bomb- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F9 x 5 Damage Potential: 100 pts. How to use: Click to mark your target and send a rather large bomb falling down from the heavens. Tips/ Strategies: -It's greatly affected by the wind, so check that wind gauge. -Drop on Oil Drums or Crates to get fire as well as a big blast! -Try to knock worms into the water with the huge blast. -In case you were wondering, MB stands for Martyn Brown, the boss of Team 17. __________________ | 3.10. F10 Weapons\ |__________________/ Most of these weapons are Super Weapons. It's F10 to select them. Name: Petrol Bomb Shortcut Key: F10 x 1 Damage Potential: 30 + Fire Damage How to use: Same as a Grenade, but it explodes on contact; you do not set a fuse time. Tips/ Strategies: -Simulate Napalm Strikes in caverns by throwing the bomb into the ceiling. The fire will drop back down, hopefully all over your enemies. -Go after worms in confined spaces to do the most damage. -Use the fire to block off your enemies. -If an enemy has used the Freeze weapon, Petrol Bomb their next worm. As soon as it unfreezes, it will touch the fire and take damage, instantly ending it's turn. Name: Skunk Shortcut Key: F10 x 2 Damage Potential: 30 pts. (Poison: 5 per turn) How to use: Press Space to release, Space again to release the poison, and Space a third time to detonate the Skunk. Tips/ Strategies: -Can be used as a substitute for a Sheep, but does far less damage. -Try to poison large groups of enemy worms at once. -If it starts heading back toward you, detonate it or you may be hit by the poison. -Sending it down Blowtorch tunnels to poison Darksiders is a popular way of using this weapon. Name: Priceless Ming Vase- SUPER WEAPON! Shortcut Key: F10 x 3 Damage Potential: 75 + 75 per Fragment (3 Fragments) How to use: Same as Dynamite Tips/ Strategies: -Try to drop it from a rope if possible, as the blast is very big. -Another weapon that's best used in confined spaces. -Dynamite tactics also apply here. Name: French Sheep Strike- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F10 x 4 Damage Potential: 50 per Sheep per Bounce (5 Sheep, 2 Bounces)+ Fire Damage How to use: Same as Air Strike Tips/ Strategies: -Make sure that your own worms are well out of the way as those Sheep can bounce anywhere! -Best used on worms in valleys to stop the Sheep from bouncing away from your target. -If the fire that this brings isn't enough for you, target Oil Drums and crates to blow them up and cause yet more mayhem! Name: Mike's Carpet Bomb- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F10 x 5 Damage Potential: 30 per Carpet per Bounce (5 Carpets, 5 Bounces) How to use: Same as Air Strike Tips/ Strategies: -With a total potential damage of 750 points, the Carpet Bomb is the 3rd most powerful weapon in the game, so make sure that your own worms are well clear! -Like the Sheep Strike, go after worms in valleys to stop the carpets from bouncing away. -Go after big groups of worms to get the most out of this devastating weapon. __________________ | 3.11. F11 Weapons\ |__________________/ F11 is yet another key reserved for special and super weapons. 5 of the most powerful weapons in the game are found here: Name: Mad Cow- SPECIAL WEAPON! Shortcut Key: F11 x 1 Damage Potential: 75 per Cow (Up to 5 Cows) How to use: Select the number of cows you want to release with the 1-5 keys, then press Space to let them loose. Press Space to detonate. Tips/ Strategies: -This is the Special weapon that I use, because every aspect of this weapon seems good to me. It's powerful, you can release more than one at a time, and you get 2 of them if you select it as your special weapon. (Most other special weapons only give you 1.) -When releasing more than one cow, you can turn around after releasing each cow, to send some to the left and some to the right, and therefore doing damage on both sides of you. -Drop them down a hole if there's a worm down there to do loads of damage. Can do 300+ points if you use 5 cows. However, the hole will need to be fairly wide or else the cows will touch the side of the hole and explode prematurely. -They aren't the most reliable things, so make sure that they have a clear path to the target. Name: Old Woman- SPECIAL WEAPON! Shortcut Key: F11 x 2 Damage Potential: 75 pts. How to use: Just press Space to drop the Old Woman. Tips/ Strategies: -This is probably the worst special weapon of the 8 that you can choose from. You get similar results with Sheep or Mad Cows, and the Old Woman can't be manually detonated. -She can however, collect crates for you. -Dropping it from a rope is one fairly common way of using it. -If you can, drop it between two enemy worms, so that you don't have to try and judge how far the cranky old woman can walk in the 5 seconds before it detonates. Name: Concrete Donkey- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F11 x 3 Damage Potential: 100 per Bounce How to use: Just click the target to call in the donkey. Tips/ Strategies: -This is the 2nd most powerful weapon in the game. No matter how well the Darksiders are dug in, it is certain to get them. You have been warned. -To get the most out of the Donkey, target large groups of worms. -Stand well back! -If you're wondering what happens if you set indestructible land, then the donkey will just keep bouncing lower and lower until it comes to a standstill, then it explodes. This can do about 1,000 points of damage, maybe even more! Name: Indian Nuclear Test- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F11 x 4 Damage Potential: 2 per turn How to use: Just press Space to drop the nuke. Tips/ Strategies: -This will cause the water to rise by quite a lot, so make sure that none of your worms are near the bottom of the level. -If you set a Nuke to be dropped at the start of Sudden Death, it will take away 5 points per turn, not 2. -Remember that the Nuclear Radiation can't kill worms; the most it can do is reduce their health to 1 HP. Name: Armageddon- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F11 x 5 Damage Potential: 75 per Meteor (Many Meteors) How to use: Just press Space to start the rain of meteors! Tips/ Strategies: -THIS IS IT!!!! The most powerful weapon in the game, bar none! If you want to stand chance of surviving this, you will either need to be extremely lucky or extremely well protected. -Best used if you're incredibly well protected, or if you're trailing the enemy by a mile, as it will most likely kill every worm on the level and therefore ending the round in a draw. -At least half of the terrain will be gone by the time the barrage of meteors is over. Most worms will have drowned, and those that haven't been slammed into the drink will have most likely been killed from all those explosions. __________________ | 3.12. F12 Weapons\ |__________________/ The last group of weapons, the F12 weapons. Stuff which doesn't belong anywhere else can be found here. Name: Skip Go Shortcut Key: F12 x 1 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Press Space to skip your turn. Tips/ Strategies: -There's not a whole lot to this one; Try to use a weapon instead, and if you REALLY can't think of anything to do, use this instead. -If Sudden Death is approaching, if may be beneficial to just let the turn time run out instead. Name: Surrender Shortcut Key: F12 x 2 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Press Space to Surrender. Tips/ Strategies: -This was just included for the sake of completeness; there's no real good reason to Surrender, unless you don't want to let your opponent get credit for finishing you off. -Worms that have surrendered can still be killed by wiping out all of their energy; use the explosion they make when they die to your advantage by killing them when enemies are nearby. Name: Select Worm Shortcut Key: F12 x 3 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Press Space to activate, then use the Tab key to choose a worm to move. Once you have chosen one, just move or select a weapon as usual. Tips/ Strategies: -The best way of using it is to move worms out of bad positions. These are: Near to the water, near to Mines or Oil Drums, near to or below cliff edges, or on a bridge with nothing below it. -Or you can just use it so you can get a better shot at the enemy. Name: Freeze- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F12 x 4 Damage Potential: N/A How to use: Press Space to freeze every worm on your team in blocks of ice. Tips/ Strategies: -Your team can't be damaged while frozen, and Nukes also have no effect, so if you know there's a Nuke coming (like at the start of Sudden Death), freeze your worms! -Beware of Petrol Bombs when using the Freeze. If somebody Petrol Bombs the next worm in your rotation, when you unfreeze, the worm will be damaged by the fire and you will instantly lose your turn. -Or people may just try to blow away all the land underneath your worms, causing them to drown. -Also try dropping mines next to frozen enemies; the Mine will not activate until they unfreeze. Name: Patsy's Magic Bullet- SUPER WEAPON!! Shortcut Key: F12 x 5 Damage Potential: 100 pts. How to use: Same as Homing Pigeon. Tips/ Strategies: -This is the most accurate homing weapon of them all. It will rarely, if ever, miss as long as it is possible to get to your target. -Like the Homing Missile, it can travel underwater. -It's very powerful, so try to use it on groups of worms if possible. -If you get one, save it until the end of the round. If the last worms end up on opposite sides of the terrain, it will give you a huge advantage. ____________________________ | 3.13. Collectable Utilities\ |____________________________/ That's it for the weapons; here we go with the Utilities. There are two types: Collectable and Instant-Effect. This section will cover Collectable Utilities, which can be used whenever you want to. There are no shortcut keys for Utilities. Name: Jetpack How to use: Press Space to activate, then fly your worm around using the arrow keys. The number next to the worm is the amount of fuel remaining. Select a weapon, then press Enter to drop it from the Jetpack. Tips/ Strategies: -Keep an eye on the amount of fuel remaining; you don't want to run out in mid-flight. -Jet over to worms in hard to reach places, then hit the with the weapon of your choice! -After dropping a weapon from the Jetpack, retreat to a safe spot. You have unlimited fuel when retreating. Name: Low Gravity How to use: Simply press Space to activate. Tips Strategies: -Combine with the Baseball Bat to hit worms a looooooong way! -With this, you can safely walk off a cliff without hurting yourself. (Unless the cliff is very high). -Your jumps will also be higher and longer. -Remember that your weapons are affected by this too; Grenades will hang in the air longer, Bazooka shots will curve less etc. Name: Fast Walk How to use: Press Space to activate Tips/ Strategies: -Try to avoid jumping if you have this; you will move faster by just walking. -Save this until you want to move a long way in one turn. -This is also useful if you wish to drop something powerful (Dynamite, for example), on a worm's head, and need to get out of there quickly to avoid being hurt. Name: Laser Sight How to use: Press Space to activate. A dotted line will appear to help you aim. Tips/ Strategies: -This works with all the F3 weapons, as well as the Kamikaze. -Remember that the bullets from guns spread out slightly as the distance increases. Name: Invisibility How to use: Press Space to make your entire team invisible! Only available in network or internet games. Tips/ Strategies: -Remember that just because you're invisible, you can still be damaged. -If one of your opponents has collected this, try to remember where their worms were so that you still have a chance of hitting them. -Press the Home key to go to the current worm's location. This will give you an idea of where it is. -Of course, you can still walk over the top of the hidden worms. This will show you exactly where they are. _______________________________ | 3.14. Instant-Effect Utilities\ |_______________________________/ These utilities are activated as soon as the crate is collected. For this reason, the 'How to use' section has been removed from this part of the guide. Name: Crate Shower Tips/ Strategies: -The rarest of all the utilities. This drops a few weapon crates onto the landscape. -There is usually at least one super weapon dropped, so these crates are worth collecting. Once I got very lucky- 3 of the 5 crates dropped were Super Weapons! Name: Crate Spy Tips/ Strategies: -These let you see what's in any weapon or utility crate. The Crate Spy icon will appear just above the wind gauge when it is active. Lasts for a whole round. -Go for the crates that contain the better weapons, and don't bother with the others. If you can't get to a good crate, shoot it so that your enemies can't reap the rewards. (Intentionally shooting Crates is called 'Fire Bombing'). -If you're going to go Fire Bombing, shoot crates that contain sheep weapons. The Sheep will jump out and explode, hopefully doing damage to your enemies. Name: Double Damage Tips/ Strategies: -This does exactly what it says; doubles all damage done during that turn. The Double Damage icon will appear above the wind gauge when this is active. -If you get one of these, try to use the less powerful weapons. Your more powerful stuff can probably kill worms without the aid of this, so save it for later on. -Be very careful when using this. You don't want to do a whole load of damage to yourself because you were careless. Name: Double Turn Time Tips/ Strategies: -This one doubles the amount of time left on your current turn. Can be very useful for long assaults, but if you've only got a few seconds left when you grab the crate, it doesn't do much. -If you get this early in your turn, you should have more than enough time to complete it, so don't rush; take things slowly. Well, that's all 70 of the weapons and utilities covered, so on we go to... _____________________________________________________________________________ | 4. Tables Of Weapon Data \ |_____________________________________________________________________________/ In this section are a couple of tables that have data for all the Weapons and Utilities. If you want more specific information for one particular Weapon or Utility, all of that can be found in the above section. Let's go! _________________________ | 4.1. Weapons with long names are abbreviated. Shortcut: The Key you can press to access it. Damage Potential: The amount of Damage that the weapon can do (For 3 Star power settings). Some weapons have symbols after the amount of damage. This is what they mean: * = The Damage listed is per cluster. ** = The damage listed is per cluster per bounce. ? = The damage listed is an average, not a maximum. + = Add fire damage to the amount of damage listed. (X) = This weapon also poisons worms at a rate of X HP per turn. Amount: How many of this particular weapon you are given at the start of the round. Delay: The number of turns that must pass before you may use this weapon. 0 means that the weapon is available from the start of the round. Crates: How often the weapon appears in crates. From lowest to highest probability the ratings are: N/A -> Rare -> Average -> Common. Wind: If the weapon is affected by wind or not. If 'Fire' or 'Poison' is listed, it means that any fire or poison produced by this weapon is affected by wind, but no other parts of the weapon are. All data is for the Intermediate settings.
