im stuck on where you go through the quicksand patches in the Mission LOST i need help!!!

I am a great gamer, but when it comes to strategy I'm falling short. Please tell me how to get through the crocodile pond.

I am on "where the sun don't shine" and can't seem to find a way out. The guy from the cave with the hurt ankle is following me, but I can;t find us a way out.
