Outdoor Adventures is another 'successful' hunting game. Basically, you travel to different locations and hunt all sorts of animals. Your main goal is to gain more trophies and a good reputation as a hunter. Cabela's is in fact an outdoor accessories store based in the U.S, but in time, they based videogames on themselves, but the real credit goes to Activision for creating yet another great game. They released this title on 09/14/05 (in the U.S). You should take some time to get used to the game, and figure out all of the characteristics and features. In time, I believe that everyone would love this game if they gave it a chance. -THE GUIDE- Hello, and welcome to my guide for the game. This is my 7th guide as of now, and I am proud to inform that it is probably one of my best ever. Recording the game data almost killed me in the end, but I finally did it. This guide will run you through everything there is to know about Outdoor Adventures 2006. One major feature is that I have even provided a slight walkthrough/strategy guide for the missions. And of course, all the other basic and in depth data is in here as well. On one quick final note, I would like to say one thing, tables. Get used to them because I have used them a lot on this guide, and once you look through them for a while you should get used to it. So anyway, let's get on with the show! ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 2) CONTROLS | '---------------------------------------------------------------------------' I have listed every control system possible. If you have played any of the other common shooting games on Playstation 2 then you should be able to get familiar with these controls without any issues. So here they are. I advise that you read each section carefully as it will pretty much walk you through everything you need to know to be a successful hunter in the game. Everything is here, so you shouldn't have trouble playing the game so long as you read this part :) If you have any further problems while playing the game, then feel free to email me for help. Anyway, heres everything you need to know: *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* EXPERT TIPS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Well these aren't really the tips of an expert, they are from me. But when you think about it, there's really no difference ^_^ These will help you dearly while hunting, and will ensure that even the hardest of hunts are made easier. - Try to approach an animal while the wind is blowing against you. This will decrease the chances of the animal spotting or hearing you. - When an animal is facing you, crouch down and stand perfectly still until you get a clean shot of it. - Orange clothing is good to wear when hunting for deer only as they are colour-blind to orange. - ALWAYS CROUCH WHEN APPROACHING AN ANIMAL! - If you are tired and breathing loudly, DO NOT approach an animal as they may hear your loud breathes and run away. - When using animal calls near animals, wait for a reply from them. If you hear one then this means that they are coming towards you and are looking for other friendly animals. Keep using the call to bring them closer until you have a clean shot. - It is always a good idea to set up decoys and use animal calls while hiding in tents or stands. - While you are at heights from hills etc, use your scope to look for animals. - Don't try to deliberately shoot an animal in the head. While it may be better for your reputation points, it is very hard to actually get them in the head. The best and easiest place to shoot them is directly in the body section. Most times, they will die instantly but if it is weak firearm, they will only be wounded. - Always wear white winter clothing and snowshoes when hunting in the winter season. This will decrease the chances of an animal seeing you as you will blend in with the snow. And even if they do spot you, you will have a running advantage with the snowshoes. You will be very surprised at how hard it is for animals to run in the snow. - If you are running after an animal, try to get within arms reach of them. At this point (either as a part of a glitch or your character grabbing the animal), the animal will stop for a moment and stay still. At this point, take your shot as soon as possible! - Deer stands are always good places to hide from animals. Also, the height advantage will allow you to scan the nearby area of animals. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* REGULATIONS AND LAWS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* While some missions have their own specified rules, all other hunts and missions have the basic laws which you must follow. They include: - You may not shoot any animal you do not have a tag for - You may not fire within 50 yards of any building - You may not use your vehicle to harm animals Breaking any of these rules will result in the following: - First time offence: first warning - Second time offence: Second warning - Third time offence: warned again and $200 fine - Fourth time offence: you will be forced to leave the area and restart the hunt. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* HEALTH METER *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Your health status is represented by the human shape icon in the bottom left corner. Each time you start a new hunt, it will start out as a fully filled green icon. Getting attacked by animals, falling from heights, staying underwater or even sprinting too much will result in the meter decreasing. When it reaches the bottom, then this means you are at a critical level and cannot continue the hunt. Sometimes you may suffer, but the meter will not go down, but instead change colour. This means that you are low on energy. When this is the case, you will not be able to sprint as much and your health will decrease quicker. You can refill your health and energy level by eating food (including caught fish), sleeping in tents, using hydration items and using medical kits. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* STEALTH METER *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Your stealth meter represents how likely an animal is of seeing or hearing you. It is represented by the green bar to the left of the health meter. Your meter will stay steady as long as you move slowly and also crouch. Sprinting or running will decrease the meter, giving the animal more of a chance of spotting you. You should keep an eye on this constantly when stalking animals. As your stealth statistic increases, the meter will stay steadier even when you are sprinting. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* STAMINA METER *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* This meter is located on the bottom left corner of the screen, directly to the right of the health meter. It represents how much stamina you have to sprint or run. The meter decreases while you run or sprint for a long period of time. Once it reaches the bottom, you will only have enough stamina to walk slowly and can only sprint or run again when its refills. You must wait for it to refill by staying still. If it gets too low, then your hunter will start to breath loudly and this may scare of some animals. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* MINI-MAP *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Your mini-map should be constantly viewed. It shows your current direction (North, East, South or West), the direction the wind is blowing and all the animals around the location. The animals are represented by the coloured dots. Yellow dots represent the deer, green dots represent big game animals, the purple dots are the small game animals and the blue dots are dead animals. The dots will always be visible on the map so to find the animal all you have to do is follow the dots which represent them. If you wound an animal, it will be represented by the same coloured dot but this time it will be flashing. Right next to the mini-map is fan like object spinning. This notifies you of the direction the wind is blowing, allowing you to judge the likeliness of the animal hearing or smelling you from the distance. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* SHOOTING *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* You already know what button fires the weapon, but you need to be aware of how to shoot etc. The crosshair will always be placed directly in front of your gun and will let you see where exactly the shot is aimed and where the bullet will shoot. It requires a lot of accuracy and practice to be able to shoot an animal with the naked crosshair. Most other times, you will be prompted to shoot them with the zoomed in scope. This makes it a lot more accurate and easier t take down the animal. Holding the L1 button at any time will activate the lock on feature. This will allow you to keep the crosshair still and lock it onto a certain animal. Doing this while zoomed in while lock onto the target automatically. When this is done, the crosshair will turn red, meaning you have a clear shot. However, this is only available on the easiest difficulty. Each weapon can hold up to a certain amount of bullets at one time. After you shoot all the bullets in the ammo clip, the firearm will reload automatically. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* HUNTING *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Yes, you do hunt but there is more to the process of just 'hunting'. There are 2 different types hunting styles you can try while playing. And also, some other things you need to be aware of. Observe. a) Stand hunting - just like the name suggests, this is hunting from a stand. Once you find a suitable place to set up your stand, do so and then wait. Using this technique relies on you constantly using the game calls, lures and decoys. This will eventually (after patient waiting) bring the animal to you, giving you an opportunity to take it down. When using the calls, keep listening out for a reply. If you hear one then keep using the call again and again until the animal is within sight. b) Wilderness tracking - this involves you looking for your specified animal with the use of optics and navigation tools and your skills in tracking. Keep looking around for animal tracks as they will tell you which animal has passed (gender, species etc) and the direction it went. To analyse a track, you must be crouching. This hunting style is also helped with the use of calls and lures etc. In other words, you come to the animal, it doesn't come to you. c) Instant actions - these occur at any random time during a hunt. They are extra objectives which you will be given the option of accepting, or declining and continuing with your normal hunt. Although, sometimes you cannot refuse them as they will be mandatory. d) Difficulty levels - There are 3 different difficulty levels to choose from. Each one gets harder and harder. The 3 levels are: *Greenhorn - the easiest of all. This is highly recommended for beginners of the game. In this mode, you will be able to lock onto an animal automatically (even if they are not in sight) and finding and luring animals will be much easier. *Sportsman - on this difficulty, finding the animal is much more difficult. The lock on feature is disabled (but you can still use the steady aim feature) and luring the animals is harder. Calls and lures are less effective. Hunting animals in this mode requires more skill and patience. *Simulation - the hardest of all difficulty levels. This is extremely difficult and should only be chosen by much more experienced hunters. Both the lock on and steady aim is disabled, making shooting an animal much more harder, no matter how close they are to you. Animal lures and calls are a lot less efficient and do not work as effectively. The mini-map is also disabled so you have no way of knowing where an animal is etc. Playing on this difficulty requires a massive amount of patience, skill and stealth. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* FISHING *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* As well as hunting animals on land, you will be engaged in fishing. Some missions/hunts require you to fish as a part of your objectives, but even when it is not needed, it's still good to always carry a rod and be prepared. Each location has its own fish to hunt. Fishing can get very difficult, but once you learn how to do it, you will be able to easily catch any type of fish. It took me a while as well, especially seeing as the game only gives a brief (and hard to understand) run through of how to do it. So here is my guide to fishing. See the controls section for a list of the controls when fishing. Basically, when you approach any river or dam, you will see a message at the bottom of the screen saying "Press X to enter fishing mode". While in fishing mode, you can exit it anytime by pressing X again. Anyway, press R1 to throw out your hook. The longer you hold the button, the further the hook will be thrown. Keeping your hook still in the water will do nothing. To get a bite from a fish, you need to constantly be reeling in your hook. Do this by holding down L1. Hold it down only slightly as there is more of a chance of the fish getting caught to the hook if it only travels slowly. Once a fish is caught on your hook, a picture of your directional buttons pad will be shown at the top left hand corner of the screen. You will see that the green light travels around and lights up each of the directional buttons. This is where you must be quick. Press any directional button when it is lighten up by the green light. Once you do so, you will be taken to the underwater view which shows the fish stuck on your rod. First of, keep an eye on the fishing meter at the right. When it is red, press and hold the R2 button. The fish will be swimming away while still caught on your hook. Once the fishing meter turns green and the fish stops, this is when you can reel him in. Hold the L1 button to reel in your hook. Hold it harder this time as this will allow you to reel faster. In time, the fish will again fight off the hook and start swimming away again (thus the meter will turn red). When this happens, just press and hold the R2 button again until the fish stops, at which point you are again free to reel in. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* TRACKING ANIMALS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Finding an animal can become difficult. Thus, you can always look for tracks of animals. Tracks will only be located around areas which animals hang around. To examine a track, you must be crouching. You will se a message at the bottom of the screen saying "press X to analyse track". Once you analyse a track, you will be given information on which animal has passed (gender and species) and the direction it went. The automatic tracking feature is activated by pressing the L3 button. This will search for nearby tracks and show you signs of tracks. Tracking animals is a very vital part of hunting; I suggest you get used to it. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* SCORING SYSTEM *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* For each animal you kill, you will be given an official score for it. Along with that, the screen will also notify you of where you shot the animal, the species of animal it is, the range of your shot and the amount of reputation points you earned from the kill. Overall scores for animals are based on the animal size etc. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* DRIVING *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* In almost every hunt, you will find some sort of transport. Whether it is a car, quad motorbike, snow mobile or boat. You can use these to get to places quicker and easier without wasting energy. See the controls section for a list of the controls when handling a vehicle. The disadvantages of using vehicles is that you can easily lose control and crash, which will damage your health quite largely. Also, the sounds of vehicles are certain to scare off nearby animals who hear it. ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 4) MAIN MENU | '---------------------------------------------------------------------------' There are many selections on the main menu. Here is a brief description of each option. - OPEN SEASONS - The best way to get into the game quickly. This will take you to play any randomly selected hunt in any location. All the necessary equipment will be automatically equipped for you. - ADVENTURE MODE - This is the main mode of the game. In this mode, you start a career as a hunter. You can do either hunts or missions to progress through the game. You are required to purchase and equip your own firearms and accessories. Do this from the CABELA'S option. You must also build up your own character by completing missions and hunts and earning reputation points. Adventure Mode also has the contests and shooting range option. - HELP - From here, you can get more information about hunting, fishing and driving. - HIGH SCORES - View your longest shots and best overall scores from here. - OPTIONS - Set up the control and audio settings from here. - CREDITS - View the credits of the game. ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 5) ADVENTURE MODE | '---------------------------------------------------------------------------' As you already know, adventure mode gives you the actual hunting experience the game is made for. You travel through many different locations and hunt different animals on your journey. You can also do some excess challenging missions. In this mode, you must first choose the difficulty level and then create you characters type and appearance. Each character has their own statistics which include the following. ACCURACY - How well you shoot. In other words, how much of a chance you have of hitting the animal with your shot. This is a real big help in long range shots. STRENGTH - The more strength you have, the more equipment you can carry and longer you can sprint for. This is also very essential. If you have a high strength level, you can carry a lot more equipment in your backpack while hunting. STEALTH - This is the amount of skills you have when it comes to sneaking around animals without them spotting you. The higher your stealth, the less likely an animal is to spot you at any time. A higher stealth level also means that the stealth meter will decrease less often. RESILIENCE - How quickly you run out of energy and lose health. If your resilience is high, then you can take more damage before being crucially injured and the more you can sprint without getting tired. This also effects how you hunt in hard weather such as snow. TRACKING - How much skill you have when it comes to tracking animals and finding tracks etc. As you progress through adventure mode, you will gain more statistics which improve your hunting abilities. You can choose one of these following characters when you start (some need to be unlocked first): O======o==========o=========o==========o============o==========O | TYPE | ACCURACY | STEALTH | STRENGTH | RESILIENCE | TRACKING | O======o==========o=========o==========o============o==========O | 1 | 45 | 45 | 40 | 55 | 40 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 2 | 50 | 55 | 50 | 60 | 50 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 3 | 60 | 40 | 60 | 45 | 70 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 4 | 50 | 40 | 45 | 50 | 35 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 5 | 60 | 50 | 55 | 50 | 45 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 6 | 60 | 60 | 75 | 60 | 55 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 7 | 70 | 55 | 60 | 55 | 60 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 8 | 70 | 70 | 70 | 65 | 65 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 9 | 80 | 60 | 70 | 55 | 70 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 10 | 90 | 75 | 80 | 75 | 75 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o - - - Once all that is out of the way, you can get on with the actual game! In this mode, you must progress through a variety of different hunts and missions. To purchase new items and equip them in your backpack, select the Cabela's option, and then the Shopping option. Once you have purchased items, select the backpack option to equip them. You can also visit deer country under the Cabela's option. This is where all your hunted animals are displayed. It's always good to stop by here and see your accomplishments. Anyway, the most important options in this are Hunts and Missions. Each will become all more difficult as your progress. Each time you begin in a new location, your guide will briefly run you through the characteristics of it. Completing hunts and missions unlocks new items and earns you new reputation points. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* HUNTS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* [For those of you who are confused when I say Buck or Doe, then take note that a Buck is a male deer and a doe is a female.] With that, here are all your hunts in the game, along with additional information on them. He will praise you for your accomplishment and reveal something very cool to you...what is it? Well, you'll have to complete the hunts to find out :) *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* MISSIONS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* The missions are some extra levels you can play. Each one gets more difficult than the other until eventually, it gets to a point which I like to call 'EXTREMELY DIFFICULT'. Seriously, some of them are flat out hard so don't be surprised if it takes you a while to complete them all. Completing some missions will also unlock you some new items and reputation points. Well since the missions are usually the same every time you play them, I am able to provide a basic walkthrough on them. Hope it helps. MISSION #1 - CATCH 3 WALLEYE AND SHOOT ONE FOX WITH A SHOTGUN FROM UNDER 50 --------- YARDS This one shouldn't be too difficult, and it is a very good first mission to start practicing for future obstacles. Catching the fish will be your first task, head to the dam and find the fishing spot (its good to bring a map). Just take your time as there is no limit. Once you catch the fish, take out your shotgun and head for one of the purple dots on the map, they are all foxes. Now this can be difficult seeing as you're only a beginner so just keep practicing. ITEM UNLOCKED: .22-250 Bolt Action Rifle MISSION #2 - TAKE A ROCKY MOUNTAIN ELK FROM ANY STAND IN UNDER 3 HOURS ---------- This is a winter level, so if you have unlocked the snowshoes, I recommend you bring them. It's better to just bring a tree stand rather than a tripod because the tripod can only be placed on flat land, and there is not much of it in this mission location so once again, bring the tree stand. Finding the elk shouldn't be a problem, unless you play on the hardest difficulty level. Bring a scent cover as they will get scared if they know you are present in the area. Don't forget to spray yourself with the cover as soon as you start, now head for the green dots on the map. Before you get too close to them, set up your tree stand whenever you feel the elk is nearby. This will allow you to search for him with your scope (you do have a scope right? If you don't then I suggest you go back and get one). If you are on the easy difficulty, then you can use your lock on feature to find him. REWARD: $200 MISSION #3 - CATCH 3 RAINBOW TROUT AND TAKE ONE BOBCAT WITH A BOW ---------- The fishing area is directly in front of you as soon as you start. Go forward and start fishing. If you're having trouble finding fish then you can move across to the right to the other fishing spot. Once you catch your 3 trouts, go search for a bobcat. If you have the compact bow unlocked, then bring it as it is much more powerful. The bobcats are small game so follow the purple dots on your map. Be well aware that they will attack you if they see you so a medical kit is essential in this mission. Try to sneak up on them to avoid another dangerous battle with a beast. ^_^ A tree stand should also prove useful in this mission. REWARD: $300 MISSION #4 - FIND AND TAKE THE TROPHY LEGEND ROCKY MOUNTAIN MULE DEER ---------- First off, I highly recommend that you bring a tree or tripod stand, and a ground blind. This is because of the fact that these trophy sized animals are fairly faster than you, so if you do end up finding one and he spots you, you will have to find him again. Also, bring the basic scent cover and a grunt call. If you feel like doing things more skilfully, then you can bring the mineral lick or decoys instead. I usually find this guy relaxing around tree areas and such. This location is well known for its deer so finding them isn't hard at all. The real task here is to find the trophy legend deer which doesn't even look much different from the regular ones. However, one main characteristic which you can tell them apart from is the largeness of the rack and/or antlers. If you see a deer like that, then he is your target so take him down immediately. I also recommend a strong rifle for this mission. Oh and one more thing, the quad motorbike shouldn't be used too much throughout this hunt as it will scare the animals away. Feel free to use it to get away from the cabin area though. ITEM UNLOCKED: Rangefinding scope MISSION #5 - TAKE ONE RACCOON AND ONE ROCKY MOUNTAIN GOAT WITH A MUZZLELOADER ---------- Time to test how good your accuracy really is. In this mission, shooting a small racoon with a muzzleloader may become difficult at first so don't stress too much about it. Just head for the purple dots on the map and find yourself a nice raccoon to hunt. Don't worry if it sees you because they cannot run fast anyway so catching them isn't a worry. Get within a very close distance of them, and then take your shot, BYE BYE raccoon! Next is a mountain goat. I'm not really sure of how good their sensing is but I do know that they will run away as they are very protective animals with very good sight. I recommend that you bring some camouflage clothing which helps you blend in with the surroundings. Also, I like to think that the scent cover helps here as well so bring that along too. One thing which I definitely recommend is a stand. These are very essential when hunting mountain goat because you will be practically invisible to them from heights. The mountain goat will be represented by the green dots on the map display. ITEM UNLOCKED: GPS economy MISSION #6 - FIND AND TAKE THE TROPHY LEGEND COLUMBIAN BLACKTAILED DEER ---------- This is just another simple buck hunting mission. As said previously, look for bucks which have slightly larger antlers than normal because they are your trophy target. Hunting this trophy legend buck requires the same skills and items as before, which again are things like scent cover, a strong weapon, grunt call and decoys. A tree stand will also prove useful in this mission. REWARD: $400 MISSION #7 - TAKE 3 TIMBER WOLVES WITH A BOW ---------- I strongly recommend you wait until you have the compound bow unlocked before you do this mission. The reason being because it is much more advanced than the recurve bow. First of all, make sure you have medical kits in your backpack. Believe me, you will need them. Follow the green dots on the map and you should find wolves. A really big blow is that most of the time they stick together so they will most likely be in packs. And for some reason, they will run away when they see you, but then immediately turn back at you and attack. As recommended by your guide, you should also bring a stand with you. I would use the sneaking skill to hunt the wolves but if you feel you will do better by running in and massacring them, then feel free to do so. One thing you must make sure of is that you only take a shot at the wolves when you know that you have a clean shot. If they are attacking you while you reload your bow, then you will be dead by the time you're done. REWARD: $500 MISSION #8 - CATCH 3 MUSKIE AND SHOOT 3 SKUNKS ---------- This is yet another winter season hunt. You should have the snowshoes unlocked by now so bring them along as it will make it much easier to walk. As soon as you begin (depending on where you select to spawn off) there should be a snowmobile somewhere nearby. Hop onto it and drive towards the fishing area. The Muskie are very common in the waters so catching them shouldn't take too long. Once you have all 3 of them, hop back onto the snowmobile and go towards the purple dots. Skunks are also common so finding them is easy. Once you are in good distance of a skunk, hop off the snowmobile and shoot the skunk. They can't move very fast either because of the snow. ITEM UNLOCKED: Special blend lure MISSION #9 - IN THE SPACE OF 3 DAYS, FIND AND TAKE A SLEEPING SITKA BUCK WITH A ---------- MUZZLELOADER. YOU CAN ONLY SHOOT THE ANIMAL BETWEEN 11am AND 4pm You will mainly need patience in this mission. When you start, the time is about 8am so you will need to wait around for a while. A common technique is to sleep in a tent until 11am. Or you can search around this great looking location and find the possible sleeping areas in advance. Anyway, when you are in the correct time to shoot an animal, no tracking will be needed as the deer is sleeping somewhere. Search your map for deer and go to them. If you find one that is sleeping, then you are allowed to shoot him, thus completing the mission when he dies. DO NOT use any calls or fire any unnecessary bullets as there is a chance you might scare the sleeping buck away. The only thing I recommend you bring is as usual a scent cover, a tree stand and a ground blind/tent. Remember, patience is important! REWARD: $600 MISSION #10 - FIND AND TAKE THE TROPHY LEGEND SITKA BUCK ----------- By now, you should have done this kind of hunts already so check my description on the previous trophy hunts. Just bring the basic deer hunting equipment, and you will be fine. Look for the trophy sized doe, and take it down. ITEM UNLOCKED: .22 LR S-A rifle MISSION #11 - FIND THE WATERING HOLE OF A DESERT BIGHORN SHEEP AND TAKE ONE ----------- DOWN WITH A SHOTGUN FROM UNDER 40 YARDS I don't know how many 'watering holes' there are in this location, but I can only see one on the map so that must be it. To be honest, this is the only mission I have not completed so I really don't know what to do either. My guess is to just WAIT at the watering hole for the sheep to come. Remember that it |
