You've got time traveling dinosaurs, a wierd girl who's mute most of the time, and some World War 2 pilot who's definitely not where he should be. The difficulty of this game is also just as crazy, with ridiculously low time limits and ridiculoulsly high amounts of dinos in your way. Hopefully, this walkthrough I made will be able to get you past all these difficulties, and it will put some method to the madness that this game has. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ####################################################################### ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 2: Revision History VERSION 1.0 - 01/05/03 - 72 KB My first FAQ of 2003. Anyway, this is the first edition. Pretty much everything has been completed. If I update this again, don't expect much new information. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ####################################################################### ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 3: Contact Policy *************************************************************************** Please DO: *************************************************************************** - put the name of the game in the subject title and/or in the message itself. It's VERY IMPORTANT the name of the game is in the subject. I have numerous spam filters set up to catch certain messages. If you only put in the game's title in the subject I guarantee you the message will get through. Not only that, I will know what game you're talking about. I've got more guides out there than just this one, so it's critical I know what game you need help on. - read the guide to answer a question you may have BEFORE you send an email. At least read the sections that could probably answer your question. Use Ctrl + F to help you seek out specific items. If you have time to waste your life away on video games, then you have enough time to scan my document for a few minutes for an answer to a problem. - use proper spelling and grammar. Don't write something like: "hym an dou ha vecodez furt his game." You may not think it's a big deal, but I appreciate it when somebody takes the time to type out a message correctly. - send a message in English. English is the only language I can effectively communicate with. I know a little Spanish, and a handful of random words from other languages, but that's about as far as my knowledge of foreign languages goes. *************************************************************************** Please DO NOT: *************************************************************************** - send emails in excess of 100KB without prior warning. The Klez virus emails have been pouring into my email accounts every day. Since the emails always exceed 100KB, I delete them the moment I see them. If you send some large attachment, then there's a very good chance I'll delete the message right away without looking at it. - ask me to send you a copy of my guide. If you want a copy of my guide, just go to an address where it's being displayed, click "File" on top of your screen, and then click "Save As." - send several messages at once. It's okay if you accidentally hit the send button twice, but please don't spam my inbox with three or more messages at the same time. Put everything that you need to talk about in one email. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ####################################################################### ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4: Game Basics *********************************************************************** 4A - CONTROLS *********************************************************************** GUNCON 2 CONTROLS (TYPE A) ========================================== D PAD - move character D PAD (when using snipe shot) - move crosshair TRIGGER (when aimed at screen) - fire currently equipped weapon TRIGGER (when not aimed at screen) - "rewoad" A BUTTON - strafe left B BUTTON - strafe right C BUTTON - change weapons A OR B BUTTON (press twice quickly) - quick search A OR B BUTTON (held down together) - snipe shot START - subscreen - skip FMV DUAL SHOCK 2 CONTROLS (TYPE A) ========================================== D PAD - move character RIGHT STICK - aim crosshair X BUTTON - "rewoad" SQUARE BUTTON - single shot CIRCLE BUTTON - special weapon TRIANGLE BUTTON - snipe shot L1 - quick search R1 - fire currently equipped weapon L2 - strafe left R2 - strafe right START - subscreen SELECT - skip FMV WHICH IS BETTER? ========================================== GUNCON 2 -------- PROS: - aiming your gun is very fast and easy. - reloads are quick. - actually being able to aim the gun yourself is a lot of fun! CONS: - your hands will ache until you get used to using the gun. - movement is awkward because the buttons are in awkward places. - snipe shot mode is somewhat cumbersome since you have to hold down both the A and B BUTTONS, and then use the D PAD on the back of the gun to aim. DUAL SHOCK 2 ------------ PROS: - you won't wear your hands out in three minutes using this controller. - movement is easy. - snipe shot is much easier to use. - you get to use the vibration function on the controller. - the game almost feels like a decent first person shooter. CONS: - aiming is a little tricky, since the RIGHT STICK is a little sensitive. - it's easy to accidentally hit the wrong button on the controller and go into snipe shot while there's three hundred raptors surrounding you. - not having an actual light gun to aim with takes some of the fun away. THE VERDICT? ------------ Out of the two, I prefer the Guncon 2. This game was meant to be played with a light gun after all. You'll be able to easily hit enemies, since you have an actual light gun to aim with. The game just isn't as much fun on a regular controller. Your hands will get used to the gun after a few games. *********************************************************************** 4B - ADVANCED TACTICS *********************************************************************** RADAR ----- The game calls this a Motion Sensor, but I prefer radar. Anyway, this thing at the bottom of your screen picks up dinosaurs that are on the move. Dinosaurs that are represented by white dots are not hostile and won't attack you. Dinosaurs indicated by orange dots, however, indicate dinosaurs that are coming over to kick your butt. Shoot the dinosaurs that are orange immediately so you don't get attacked by them. Beware, white dinosaurs will usually become orange dinosaurs once they detect you in the area. To keep this from happening, stay stealty by shooting them from afar and staying out of thier sight. WEAK POINTS ----------- The weak point of almost every enemy is its head. One or two bullets can kill an enemy as tough as a plesiosaurus even. So, always go for a headshot if you want to take out an enemy quickly. You can also shoot an enemy's legs if you want it to make it stop running for a short time. DODGING ATTACKS --------------- Run backwards while shooting if you're being overrun by enemies. Most enemies in this game can only attack you if you're standing right next to them, so this is very effective in keeping yourself out of harm's way. Also, if you're using the controller, learn to strafe. Strafing is when you sidestep. You can sidestep attacks while backing up to hit enemies. It's not as easy to do with the Guncon 2 though, but your fast aim should make up for it. COMBOS ------ A combo is when you kill an enemy, and then you kill another enemy within a short time limit after the first enemy. You can tell how much time is left by looking for a little green line on the left side of the screen that appears after the score indicator disappears. This green line shrinks over time and it shows how much time you have left to get another kill. If the line shrinks to nothing, your combo chain will reset to zero. The more enemies you kill within the time limit, the higher your combo count goes. Why go for high combos? There's two reasons: you get more points the higher the combo goes, and you get a blue tachyon for every tenth kill in a combo chain. Note that you can shoot bugs to increase your combo count, but you can't get blue tachyons for them. Make sure that your tenth kills are not bugs if you want to get the 30 second blue tachyons. You can also shoot objects in the background for points, but you won't increase your combo for destroying those. SNIPE SHOT ---------- When you go into snipe shot, you'll change to the view of a scope. You will be able to shoot enemies that are very far away like this. They'll usually die with one shot, and they'll always drop at least a pink tachyon. However, never use this when enemies in the area have been alerted to your presence. You can't move while you're using snipe shot, and it's hard to hit enemies that are standing right next to you when your scope is zoomed in. I don't really use this a lot, since it takes a long time to zoom in and hit your target. It's much faster just to fire several regular shots at the enemy. SPECIAL WEAPONS --------------- Special weapons are weapons you find in the levels. There are 17 in all. With the exception of the Handgun and the Magnum, you cannot reload any of these weapons. They will be thrown away when you run out of ammo. Also, you can only have one special weapon with you at a time. If you pick up another special weapon, you'll throw the first special weapon away. So, unless I say otherwise in the walkthrough, you should use your special weapons as soon as possible since you can only have one with you at a time. *********************************************************************** 4C - ITEMS AND SPECIAL WEAPONS *********************************************************************** These are all the items and special weapons you'll be seeing during the game. You collect all these items by picking them up. Unless the item you want to pick up is a tachyon, DO NOT shoot any of these objects! That will cause them to disappear. You can still shoot tachyons to pick them up though. ITEMS ===== RECOVERY AID - This recovers one block of your vitality when you pick it up. If your health meter is full, it will be stored in your inventory until you need it. Collect as many of these as you can early on, because they get scarce later in the game. RESUSCITATION PAK - This brings you back to life when you die. Think of it as a continue. They're kind of scarce later in the game, so pick them up as much as you can. ANTIDOTE - This will cure you if you are poisoned. If you're not poisoned, it will be stored in your inventory until you need it. You don't get poisoned much in this game, but it's great to have one of these to prevent the blurry effect when you do get poisoned. POWER BULLETS - These special black and purple bullets will take the place of your regular bullets in your regular gun. They can take down enemies in much fewer shots than your normal ammo. Unlike special weapons, you can hoard these. AMPLE - I see Capcom has stolen an item off of Silent Hill here. Anyway, this increases the amount of time you have to keep your combos going by double. You'll use these automatically when you start a combo. If your combo counter is flashing, the ample is doing its work. TACHYON - These increase the amount of time you have in your time limit. Pink tachyons give you three seconds, and blue tachyons give you 30 seconds. Unlike the other items, you can collect these by shooting them in addition to just picking them up. Shoot tachyons whenever you can, since most of the levels have tight time limits. BOMB - DON'T pick this up when you see it, or you'll lose a lot of health in the ensuing explosion. After a short amount of time, this object will blow up on its own as well. However, you can shoot this to blow it up instantly. Sometimes it can take out enemies. SPECIAL WEAPONS ========================================== HANDGUN - It's kind of pointless to pick up this gun considering it's about as strong as your regular gun. It can fire a little faster and it's got infinite ammo though. MAGNUM - This is a very powerful handgun. One bullet can usually kill a raptor or an oviraptor. It also has infinite ammo. However, there's a long waiting period between shots. If you miss what you're trying to hit, you'll be vulnerable for a second or two. BOWGUN - Curse Capcom! Why must we continually be tortured by this weak weapon that has plagued the Resident Evil series?! Anyway, it fires very weak darts at a very fast rate. It's kind of fun to see darts sticking out of your enemies though, but the regular gun's more useful since its bullets are stronger. MACHINE GUN - Each individual bullet isn't very powerful, but this gun can fire off multiple shots quickly. The recoil is bad though, so don't use it on long distance targets. HAND GRENADE - Toss one of these and then press the reload button to cause it to explode. If you don't reload, it will blow up by itself after a short amount of time. It's great for packs of dinosaurs that are too close for comfort. LASER GUN - This weapon shoots powerful lasers. They're a little more powerful than your regular gun, and it fires quicker too. MINE THROWER - Remember this weapon from Resident Evil 3? This gun fires small explosive darts, but they won't detonate right away. You have to either press the reload button or wait for a short amount of time for them to explode. It's quite similar to using the Hand Grenades, only the bullets can travel farther and they can stick to enemies. FLAME THROWER - Wave this thing around while firing and watch all the dinosaurs before you get barbecued alive. It's got a limited range, but it's great for in-your-face battles. SPARK GUN - This weapon sends a lethal spark through the dinosaur it hits. If there are other dinosaurs nearby, the spark will jump through the dinosaur and it will travel through all the other dinosaurs. This is a great gun for when the oviraptor packs pop out of the sand in level 4. SHOTGUN - It's a boomstick that shoots pellets that will cover a wide area. Despite the fact that shotguns in real life are meant for close range fights, the wide area covered by the pellets makes it an excellent sniping weapon. GRENADE LAUNCHER - This is one of my favorite guns. Shoot off a grenade. When it comes in contact with an enemy or the ground, it will create a large explosion that'll send bodies flying. It's murderously fun to blow up packs of oviraptors with this. FLAME GRENADE - It's like the Grenade Launcher, but when this comes in contact with an enemy or the ground, it will cause a flame wave that streaks away from the impact area for a distance. Remember to shoot the grenade in front of your enemy so the flame wave will hit the enemies. It's really great for enemies that are standing in a line. The flame wave will knock them over like bowling pins. PLASMA GUN - This gun causes enemies to dissolve out of existence when they are shot with it. The laser it fires can travel through enemies, so it might hit enemies that are lined up behind the first one you shoot. I don't find this to be a terribly useful gun though. ROCKET LAUNCHER - It fires large rockets that cause a lot of damage. However, there's a long time lag between shots, so make sure you hit everything with one shot. You'll be vulnerable for about two seconds after you fire. This is the perfect weapon for fighting the carnotauruses with. GATTLING GUN - Do like Arnold did in Terminator 2 and send a hailstorm of lead flying all over the place. It has a ridiculously large amount of ammo, so you can pretty much just fire away all you like. However, it takes about two seconds for the gun to start spinning so it can fire. You'll be vulnerable while you wait for the gun to rev up. MISSILE LAUNCHER - It's similar to the rocket launcher, except for the fact the missiles home in on the target. It's very useful for bosses. MISSILE POD - You'll only get this gun during the final battle. You may recognize this as the rocket launcher from the original Resident Evil. It fires four rockets at a time. These rockets cause major damage to whatever they hit. They even home in on their target a little! Just be careful of the long time lag between shots, and be sure not to miss since you only have four sets of missiles to fire per launcher. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ####################################################################### ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 5: Walkthrough THIS WALKTHROUGH IS FOR NORMAL MODE. In Easy mode there will be a more generous time limit, a larger amount of items, and weaker enemies. In Hard mode there will be a tighter time limit, fewer items, and stronger enemies. *********************************************************************** PROLOGUE *********************************************************************** In the year 1943, there is a large battle occuring between the American and German forces in the Atlantic Ocean. Mike Wired is flying his P-51 Mustang around while shooting down the attacking German fighters. After his plane gets shot though, Mike opens the hatch and jumps out. An enemy plane loops around to shoot him, but there's a strange flash of light and Mike is now in clear skies. He opens his parachute, and then notices a flock of birds coming towards him. He sees that they aren't birds as they come closer though, but pterodactyls! Suddenly, there are two more flashes of light and now Mike is equipped with a strange rifle and a device on his wrist. As the pterodactyls close in, Mike prepares to fight. *********************************************************************** STAGE 1 - CRETACEOUS CREATURES *********************************************************************** At the start of the level, you'll be confronted by several black pterodactyls. They shouldn't even get a scratch on you, since you can easily put them down with one bullet. Keep an eye on your radar and rotate to find where they are flying. Notice that you also have a Handgun with you at all times during this level as well. Also notice that you can see bits and pieces of fighter planes falling through the sky. Your combo counter won't go up when you destroy them, but you will get a few extra points for doing it anyway. You should probably shoot the wreckage, since the pieces appear on your radar and they can confuse you while you're trying to search for the pterodactyls. A bit later in the level, you'll fall through some heavy clouds. After you pass through the clouds you'll see the jungle below. At this time tachyons will rain from the sky to the north. Be sure you shoot them since they give you more time. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS FIGHT - PTERODACTYL PACK You'll now be attacked by yellow pterodactyls from the north. They are a little harder to kill than the black pterodactyls you've been seeing, since they take two bullets instead of one to kill. Anyway, blast away at the pack that attacks you when they appear. If you don't, they'll run into you and cause some damage. After the initial attack, they'll fly in circles around you. Make sure you keep rotating to keep them in sight. Rotate a little in front of them so you'll have more time to shoot. Remember that you need to hit them twice before they go down. If you take too long to hit them while they're flying in circles, they'll suddenly turn towards you to make an attack. This is like the attack they made when they first appeared. Be sure you blast them before they can get to you. Since they're headed in a straight line towards you however, this is a prime time for you to kill the pterodactyls if you have bad aim. Make sure to take advantage of it. After all the pterodactyls have been killed, you'll clear the stage. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ *********************************************************************** Mike lands in the jungle below. Before he can figure out where he is though, he is attacked by raptors. He takes off through the jungle to keep from getting eaten. Suddenly, he gets a garbled transmission over his wrist device that a "catastrophe" is about to occur. Mike has no time to wonder what the message is about as the raptors catch up to him. *********************************************************************** STAGE 2 - STRANGERS *********************************************************************** In this level, you need to move at a good clip. As tempting as it may be, don't stop to explore the level too much. You just don't have time to do that. You can blast vines, trees, and other foilage to get more tachyons and extra points, but don't waste too much time doing that. However, if you see a box on the ground you should shoot it. There might be an item inside that you could use. Also, remember you can shoot the bugs flying around the level to keep your combo going. Anyway, blast the two raptors in front of you right after the level begins. To your left are three hard-to-see boxes you can blow up for items. When you're ready, head north through the jungle and blast the raptors you encounter on the way. Eventually you'll come to a path with some boxes. Before you open the boxes though, shoot the compys further down the path before they can run away. There's a very good chance they'll drop Recovery Aids. After that, shoot the boxes for items. Follow this path through the jungle, while blasting raptors and item boxes. Remember to keep an eye out for compys so you can shoot them for Recovery Aids. You're gonna need all the medical supplies you can get for the last few levels, so be sure you collect them now while they're still plentiful. The path should lead you to a clearing after awhile. There's four boxes in the middle as well as Special Bullets and a Resuscitation Pak, but shoot the raptors you see first before collecting items. As you approach the barricade of fallen logs to the southeast, a group of raptors will come to attack you. Note the brown raptor that jumped over the barricade. Be sure to shoot him first, because he can absorb more damage than the regular green raptors. Open up the boxes and gather all the items, then shoot away the fallen logs to reveal a new path. Shoot the blue crystal hovering over the top of the waterfall. After doing that, jump down the ledges to the river below. Be sure you look behind the waterfall to the right for a Resuscitation Pak. You are now standing in what I like to call the River Valley. On the south side of the river is a clearing that many raptors are in, and on the north side of the river is the poison plants forest. You should restrict yourself to exploring only one side of the river. If you explore both, you might not have enough time to complete the level later. Below, I'll outline strategies for both areas. ===================================== POISON PLANTS FOREST In this jungle you'll encounter the poison plants. They look like giant red spheres. If a plant senses you standing nearby, it will spit out a cloud of poison gas. If you get hit by this gas, you'll be poisoned. However, as long as you don't stand in front of the plants (marked by the cross marking), this won't be a problem. Despite the danger of the plants, they will often drop Antidotes if you shoot them. Also, if you need items, walk along the river and you'll find item boxes. You will also find more boxes as you leave the forest area. RAPTOR CLEARING This area has many raptors walking around in it. It's easy to move quickly through this area, since there aren't many obstacles in the way. If you are after items, walk along the cliff wall to the south and you'll see boxes near it. Just before you're about to reach the river's end, you'll find several more item boxes and a Machine Gun. ===================================== Once you've reached the end of the River Valley, you'll come to an area with deep grass. I tell you, this is one of my most hated areas in the game. The raptors know this is the perfect place to spring an ambush, since it's almost impossible to see them in the deep grass. Whenever you pick up a blip on your radar, you might want to try walking out of the grassy fields so you can see the raptors you're trying to shoot. However, this will waste some time. I would advise grabbing a special weapon before traveling through this area so you can waste the raptors easier. Explosives are a big help around here. After traveling through the grass fields, you'll be in a rocky area. If you just want to clear this are as fast as possible, destroy the rocks to the southwest, cross over the natural bridge they were blocking, and then go down the passageway to the northwest. Kill the raptors that get in the way. However, if you'd like to look around, you can find a Grenade Launcher and a Recovery Aid in the ditch in this area, as well as some item boxes. There's a passageway out of the ditch to the east when you're ready to get out of there. Also, don't forget to shoot the tachyons hovering over the cliffs to the southwest and the east. Anyway, when you're ready, jump down the northwest ledges to reach the next area. Once you have jumped down all the ledges, you'll run into a strange girl. Mike tells her everything that's been happening to him lately, but the girl won't say anything. Mike asks her to say something, but suddenly there's a loud growl. Standing on the cliffs above is a strange gray dinosaur. The girl says "Trinity!" before running away. Mike tries to follow her, but a raptor pack attacks him. Apparently, Trinity is that dinosaur and she leads the raptors. Anyway, you're now involved in a boss fight! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS FIGHT - RAPTOR PACK This arena is a large grassy clearing with what seems to be a meteorite of some kind in the middle. There's a Recovery Aid hidden behind the meteorite, and there's a Rocket launcher on the southwestern side of the clearing. You can also find a blue crystal on the northeastern side of the arena, on top of the cliffs. Anyway, fire away at the raptors while walking backwards. This is a very effective way to damage the raptors while keeping yourself out of harm's way. However, don't use the Rocket Launcher. You're going to need it for something more important in a minute. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ After you have fought off the raptors for awhile, Trinity will signal her raptors to run away. Two carnotauruses arrive on the scene and they start chowing down on the raptors who are too slow to escape. Trinity and the rest of the raptors flee while you're left alone to fight off these two new threats. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS FIGHT - CARNOTAURUS TAG TEAM These guys have really tough skin. Their weak point is their head. You can shoot their body, but it will only do a little damage. They both share a life meter, so you don't have to worry about having to empty two separate ones. Anyway, you should stay as far away from these terrible twins as possible. A carnotaurus likes to attack either by biting or head butting you, or by hitting you with its tail. In this way, you're not safe even if you're standing behind the carnotaurus! Fortunately, the carnotauruses will only attack you one at a time. One of them will usually charge across the clearing at you for a head butt. However, you can stop its charge by shooting the carnotaurus's head with one rocket from the Rocket Launcher. This is why I advised you not to use it during the part where the raptors attacked. If you don't have the Rocket Launcher though, a Grenade Launcher appears in the northwestern corner of the arena after the battle starts. It's good for stopping charges, but it's not as effective as the Rocket Launcher. Run backwards while firing to keep the carnotaurus from getting to you for awhile. The regular gun can also be used, but it's not an effective weapon. You have to shoot the head multiple times before a carnotaurus will stop charging. If that doesn't work, sometimes the head butt attack will miss if you're running away while the carnotaurus uses it. Another weakness the carnotauruses have is that they waste a lot of time roaring. Use this time to whittle down their health with your regular gun. You should only use the rocket launcher to stop the charging attacks. Once their life meter has been drained, you'll clear the stage. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ *********************************************************************** After the carnotauruses run away, Mike runs through the jungle and tries to find the girl he saw. He hears a strange noise in the distance. He follows the sound to the edge of a lake and sees that the sound is a boat's motor. The girl has gotten into an inflatable raft and she's traveling across the lake. Mike gets another inflatable raft nearby to pursue the girl. Unfortunately, he's stopped when several plesiosauruses appear around the raft. *********************************************************************** STAGE 3 - TRACKING *********************************************************************** Throughout this level you'll be attacked by plesiosauruses. Those are the water dinosaurs with the long necks. They take multiple shots to take down, but you can quickly eliminate them with one bullet to the noggin. Also, you can shoot their main bodies under the water if you have poor accuracy. You will be attacked by the crocodile-like kronosauruses swimming through the water. They like to suddenly jump out of the water in front of you for a sneak attack. However, you do not have to wait for them to jump to shoot them. It is possible to hit them in the water. Just watch for the splashes they make. At the start of the level, you'll be in a lake and you'll be surrounded by plesiosauruses. Give them some bullets to the noggin so they won't be able to hit you with their necks. Soon afterwards, kronosauruses will go past. Shoot them, but be careful not to hit the Power Bullets or the Recovery Aid you can see in the distance. Also, hit the plesiosauruses you can see in the distance before they can get close enough to attack you. Just after you reach the Recovery Aid, a Kronosaurus will jump at you. You have to have really good timing to be able to hit the krono while at the same time not shooting too early to hit the item. You should be able to see the shoreline now. There will also be rocks in the water. Make sure you shoot those rocks. Sometimes they leave behind tachyons. After a short time of traveling down the river here, you'll see high cliffs on either side of the water. Make sure you shoot the tachyons you can see sitting on the shores. Once you have passed the high cliffs, you'll now be inside a canyon. The dinosaurs like to ambush you here by suddenly popping up out of the water. Keep an eye on the water so you'll be able to see the enemies before they can jump out and surprise you. If you see them first, you can shoot them in the water while they're sitting still and vulnerable. Shortly after you pick up a Resuscitation in the canyon, you'll get a cutscene of a cliff falling into the water in front of you. This should provide a little hint to you that there's more cliffs ahead that will drop into the water as well. If you get hit by one of these falling cliffs, you'll take damage. Until you get out of the canyon area, shoot and destroy every cliff that looks like it could fall on you. If you don't find a falling cliff right away, you'll be warned it will fall when you see dust rise from the cliff. Also, there will be more rocks in the water. Some of these rocks will be in your boat's path, so shoot them before you get damaged when you run over them. Once you're out of the canyon, you will get a special weapon. You'll now be in an area that I call the Pterodactyl Bridges. Every so often, you'll come to a natural bridge over the water a few pterodactyls are perched on. Shoot those pterodactyls before they can swoop down and hit you. You can also blast more rocks in the water here to get more tachyons, or you can shoot the tachyons that are already visible. After the bridges, you'll enter a cave where you'll get a new special weapon and a Recovery Aid. You can blast the stalagtites on the ceiling for more tachyons too. Anyway, you'll be frequently be attacked by kronosauruses in the water. They'll come from the front. However, you can easily shoot them before they can get to you, because they make a lot of splashes that give away where they are. Whenever you see some splashes in front of you, shoot at them so you'll hit the kronosauruses that are making them. After traveling through the cave for awhile, you'll find a second special weapon. Right before you get it though, the kronosauruses will launch one final assault. You might just want to sacrifice the second special weapon, because the kronosauruses will jump all over you right after you get it. Just fire away when you see the splashes and don't worry about hitting the new gun. Soon after the final kronosaurus attack, Mike will stop in a large chamber in the cave. Suddenly, a whole flock of plesiosauruses will pop out of the water all around his raft! Looks like it's time for another boss fight... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS FIGHT - PLESIOSAURUS PACK Throughout this fight, you'll be attacked by three or four plesiosauruses at a time. These plesiosauruses will circle around your raft for a little while, and then they'll come up close to give you a smack with their necks. Your job is to kill them before their necks become a pain in the neck to you. When the plesiosauruses first appear on radar, they'll be underwater. During this time, the plesiosauruses are quite vulnerable. If you shoot fast enough, you can kill them before they even manage to surface. Once they do surface, it's kind of difficult to hit their heads or necks with the way they bob them around like that. Aim for the big lower body instead if you've got poor accuracy. Notice that sometimes the plesiosauruses are indicated by white dots and orange dots. Hit the ones that are indicated by orange dots first, because they will be the ones who will come to attack you. The white dot plesiosauruses will only attack if you shoot at them. Once you have killed all the plesiosauruses, the level will be over. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ *********************************************************************** The final plesiosaurus dies as its neck crushes Mike's raft and destroys a nearby cave wall. Mike manages to dodge the falling neck, but the new hole in the wall now has water passing out of it to form a raging waterfall! Mike struggles against the flow of water, but he goes over the falls anyway. Sometime later, Mike regains consiousness on the river's shore. He gets up and walks through the desert he washed up in. Suddenly, he sees the ruins of an ancient Greek temple nearby. Even more surprising is the top half of the Statue of Liberty in the distance! *********************************************************************** STAGE 4 - DIFFERENT WORLD *********************************************************************** This level is crawling with oviraptors. There's so many of them that they'll pop out of the sand in front of you with every few steps. Let me tell you, I DESPISE OVIRAPTORS! I don't just dislike them or hate them, I DESPISE THEM! They're always getting in your way, spitting poison your face, and stealing your stuff too. It's easy to put down an oviraptor, but you have to stay on your guard since they usually attack several at a time. Remember that red oviraptors will try to attack you, while green oviraptors will steal your items. To get back an item, shoot the oviraptor as it runs away but be careful not to accidentally shoot the item. If you do it will vanish. After you have killed the oviraptor, take back the item. This first part of the level has you in a very large and wide open desert area. There are many things to look at out here, but like in level 2 you shouldn't spend time stopping to look around. If you do that you'll run out of time before you can get to the exit on the north side of the desert. Throughout this part of the level you will find oviraptor nests. While you can usually get items from them, be cautious when you get close. The oviraptors will usually spring an attack when you go near a nest. The central part of the desert also has quite a few items as well if you go looking around there. Look around the monuments on the edges of this level. A lot of them are hiding blue tachyons. In fact, the Arc de Triumph behind you at the level's start has one. Note the explosive barrels around the desert. If you shoot these, you can blow up oviraptors along with them. I think the best way to take on this area is to travel north along one of the level perimeters or through the middle of the level. You'll find quite a few items while not wasting time trekking over the sand. When you are about to exit the desert through the northern passageway, make sure you've got a special weapon with you. Just before you reach the exit, several oviraptors will spring an ambush. After the ovi ambush is gone, walk towards the strange glowing green portal you can see at the exit. Mike then looks over the edge of a cliff and sees a strange swirling green vortes. The man explains over the wrist device that Mike is not in the real world. Suddenly, a car falls out of the sky from a bright light and nearly crushes Mike. Now there are all sorts of odd objects falling to the ground from above! Mike asks the man to explain why this is happening. Instead, the man orders Mike to find Paula, which is the girl he's been chasing. Mike looks out into the distance, and he sees Paula sheltering underneath an aircraft carrier from some raptors. You have to save her! It's now time for the second part of the level to begin. Your time limit has also been given a significant boost. This part of the level is somewhat similar to level 2. You're walking down a relatively predetermined path, but you can still move around on your own. Remember though, you should spend as little time as possible checking out the sights and instead focus on the finish. Anyway, the oviraptors in this part of the level like to be clever. Sometimes they'll hide behind a rock and they won't move at all so you can't pick them up on your radar. Stay alert so you don't walk right into an ambush. You will find a Magnum nearby at the start. Take it if you want to. Walk past the rocks and through the narrow passageway at the north end of this little area. You will now be in a dry canyon. Jump down from the ledge and take the Resuscitation Pak on the left. There's also some more supplies hidden behind the large rock to the west of the Resuscitation Pak. You will find some Power Bullets behind the large rock on the east side of the canyon as well. As you get to the end of this section of the canyon, look on the left and right sides of the narrow passageway for items. In the next area, there will be a blue tachyon hidden on top of a cliff in front of you. There's also Power Bullets to the right, hidden behind a lot of debris. Head down the small walkway between the cliffs and shoot any obstacles that get in your way. You can find a Recovery Aid hidden behind some rocks and logs on the right side of this passage as well. Once you've exited the cliff's passage, you'll be in another big canyon. This time, you need to take the walkway (the one with the Bowgun on it) that runs through the middle of the canyon to get to the next area. However, you can search the lower areas for items if you need them. To the west, you'll find an item box and a blue tachyon at the end of that side of the canyon. On the eastern side, you can find a Gattingl Gun beneath the ledge at the end of the eastern side of the canyon. It would be a very good idea to pick up the Gattingl Gun before you head onto the next part of the level. The only way to get it is to jump down from the cliff above. There's also a Handgun on a ledge beneath the right side of the central walkway, and there's a Resuscitation Pak in a dead end passageway on the far east side of this area. Once you have walked over the central walkway, you will be on a ledge above the canyon you crossed over. The oviraptors will spring an ambush at this time. Kill them off. After you've gotten the Gattingl Gun (if you want it) from the last canyon, go through the passageway to the north. You'll now be standing on a ledge above a clearing where the aircraft carrier is. Before you hop down there though, be sure you break open the item boxes on your right. Also, to the left, you'll see many tachyons hovering over rocks in a pit. Be sure you shoot these to get extra time. When you're ready, hop down into the clearing from the ledge above. The carnotauruses choose this moment to spring an attack! You'll have to fight them off before you can rescue Paula. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS FIGHT - CARNOTAURUS TAG TEAM: THE REMATCH These guys have really tough skin. If you've got the Gattingl Gun, rev up the gun at the start of the fight. Shoot the carnotauruses multiple times in the head with it while they're busy roaring to the sky. You can knock off over half their health if you've got good aim and if you don't stop shooting. This is why I advised you to pick it up from the last canyon. Fortunately, when the carnotauruses do start to attack, theywill only attack you one at a time. One of them will usually charge across the clearing at you for a head butt. However, you can stop its charge by shooting the carnotaurus's head multiple times with the Gattingl Gun. If you don't have it though, you can get a Shotgun in the northwestern corner of the clearing. One shell will usually make a Carnotaurus back off from an attack. The regular gun can also be used, but it's not an effective weapon. You have to shoot the head multiple times before a carnotaurus will stop charging. Run backwards while you're firing to stay out of harm's way for as long as you can. Sometimes the head butt attack will miss if you're running away while the carnotaurus uses it. Another weakness the carnotauruses have is that they waste a lot of time roaring. Use this time to whittle down their health with your regular gun or the Gattling Gun. Once their life meter has been drained, you'll clear the stage. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ *********************************************************************** After the carnotauruses run away, Mike goes over to the aircraft carrier to meet Paula. After he asks her about where they are, she presses a button on his wrist device. The wrist device opens up to reveal a small computer. A recording on the computer explains all the events that caused this madness to occur. You can hear most of what is talked about in this game's opening. Anyway, at the end of the tape, the man introduces himself as Dylan Morton. Paula then grabs Mike and leads him across the desert. They arrive at an abandoned city as night falls. Mike receives a message from Dylan that Trinity is coming. After Mike asks him for his name and what a Trinity, the man says he is Dylan Morton, and that he'll send a file describing Trinity. The file explains that Trinity originated from the Mother Computer, and that she is able to control all the dinosaurs at will. Since she was programmed to kill anything that opposes her or the dinosaurs, Trinity is now hunting Paula and Mike. Trinity then chooses that moment to attack with her minions. Fortunately, the pair of humans locate and commandeer a nearby army jeep. *********************************************************************** STAGE 5 - PITCH BLACK TYRANNOSAURUS *********************************************************************** At the start of the level, you'll be in the city area. Most of the raptors will come from behind the jeep. A few raptors however will sometimes run alongside your jeep, so be sure to look beside you for raptors trying to sneak in an attack there. Also, keep an eye out for tachyons hovering alongside the jeep's path. During this level, you'll pick up two Machine Guns. Save them for raptors that get close to the jeep, because the Machine Gun's accuracy is too poor to hit raptors that are far away. After collecting the first machine gun, your jeep will make a left turn, and then a right turn. During the right turn, look to the right, and you'll see a blue tachyon. Also, after collecting the third special weapon (which is usually random) and an Antidote, there will be a blue tachyon on the right near a double-decker bus. Be sure you hit it before the game forces you to face forward for the incoming oviraptor attack. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS FIGHT - OVIRAPTOR PACK In this part, oviraptors will appear from a destroyed building in front of you. If you don't shoot them, they'll climb out of the debris and they'll start attacking you up close and personal. You'd better make sure to take them down before they can do that. Don't use your special weapon on the oviraptors unless you're about to get hit, or unless the enemies are in a group. You don't want to waste a whole round from a Shotgun on just one enemy by itself, do you? The enemies tend to group together a lot once they get close to you, so that's an excellent time to use the special weapon. Also, you need to beware the oviraptors in |
