This is a quick-and-easy reference chart for the job system for humanoid
characters in Disgaea.  I wrote this up to help out anyone looking to open up
jobs in the game.  Be warned--if you're looking to open every job in the game,
you're in for a long, long effort.  It's a lot of fun along the way though!
Quick explanation of things-that-should-be-obvious:  Jobs are organized by
type--the jobs in a single section will appear in the same row in the character
creation area ("Fighter" through "Budo Master" comprise a single row, for
example).  The "Job" column contains my (probably poor) translation of the job
title into English, followed by the Japanese job title in parenthesis.  If you
disagree with my English interpretation of a job title, please let me know, but
not without suggesting something better!  My translation will probably NOT match
up with the job titles in Atlus' release of the game when they put it out this
fall.  After the English release, I may change these to reflect Atlus'
translations of the job titles.
The "Prerequisite(s)" column contains the prerequisites which must be met
before a character of this job may be created.  "-" here indicates no
prerequisites--the job is available from the beginning of the game.  A number
(like "5+") indicates that there must be a character of the same job type (in
the same row) with at least the specified level.  Thus, "50+" next to Budo
Master indicates that there must be a Fighter, Sub. Instructor, Instructor, or
Expert with level 50 or greater.  Job types which aren't available from the
beginning of the game are opened up by having other job types at certain levels
or higher.  It doesn't matter which specific job.  So, if "male fighter 10+" is
specified, any male fighter-type character of level 10+ is sufficient.

This chart was whipped up in a couple of hours by a gamer, for gamers.  Feel
free to use it elsewhere, though if you do, I'd appreciate credit.  ...though
I'm probably too lazy to do anything even if I do find that it's been stolen
and sold for large amounts of cash without my consent.  It's a little bloody
chart!  Who cares!

Revision log:
1.01 (June 16, 2003):
Fixed mage/skull category to reflect actual requirements (galaxy requires
rainbow, etc).  Added multiple job levels in the galactic officer, angel, and
demon groups.  Fixed formatting so things line up prettily (mostly) in IE.

Extraneous miscellany:
Q.)  What are my favorite jobs/what jobs do I recommend?
A.)  Well, that's a hard one.  I personally don't really like archers or
thieves or priests.  Demons and angels are always fun if you actually
have the time to open them up--demons are incredibly strong.  Mages are cute,
and skulls make funny noises so I like them too, but on a completely
practical level I really like fighters and samurai, and find myself using
them more than other standard jobs.  An army of axe-wielding samurai is
both amusing and powerful.  After you actually open up demons, they're about
the strongest fighters you'll get.
Q.)  Why aren't monster races documented here?
A.)  A monster race opens up for creation when you kill a monster of the given
race.  Simple, no?
Q.)  I want more Disgaea info./You should write another FAQ!
A.)  I might write more if I have more time.  Write me and let me know what

Q.)  When is this game coming out in the US?
A.)  Atlus has a Fall 2003 bilingual release (able to choose between original
Japanese vocals/soundtrack with translated text ("subtitles") or entirely
English version (English vocals and text)) scheduled for Disgaea--please
support them by going out and buying this game when it's released!  You won't
regret it!
