Red Hare Harness
Found: Battle of Xia Pi
Force: Lu Bu's Forces
Effects: Start a stage mounted on Red Hare. Among men, Lu Bu. Among horses, Red Hare. The
figurative translation is rather mundane, but Red Hare is the fastest horse in the stable
- unfortunately, it sucks compared to Shadow Runner since you can get knocked off.
However, if you need to be in a place in a real hurry, there is no substitue (except for
teleportation).
Unlock: Do not dispatch any officers until after Guan Yu seizes Red Hare (it's a set time
pass event). Once Guan Yu and Red Hare are one, force a premature separation by force of
arms. Guan Yu has high attack and defence in this particular stage and you may have a time
trying to kill him (even with a high level officer with a Level 10 weapon). Once Guan Yu
has his face torn off, an item report will come in with the harness's location.
Hex Mark Harness
Found: Campaign Against Liu Bei (Musou Mode only, awww...)
Force: Yellow Turban's Campaign
Effect: Start stage mounted on Hex Mark. Hex Mark brought bad luck to all its owners, but
here your officer's luck will be increased while riding Hex Mark. But compared to Shadow
Runner, it sucks.
Unlock: During Act I, choose to play the Yellow Turban Fortress, then opt to finish off
the Campaign Against Liu Bei. At the Campaign against Liu Bei, slay both Zhao Yun and Guan
Yu before Shu reinforcements appear, then proceed to attack but do not kill Liu Bei.
Reduce his life to half and an item report should appear marking the harness's location.
Storm Runner Harness
Found: Campaign Against Cao Cao
Force: Lu Bu's Forces
Effect: Start a stage mounted on Storm Runner. Storm Runner increase Mounted Attack
independently of the Horned Helmet, so this a horse for all you cavalry monsters. It still
sucks compared to Shadow Runner.
Unlock: Attack either Xu Huang to the east (or Yue Jin to the West) and a message will
notify you of the ambush parties. You need to search the area where the other ambush party
is suspected (before they are found by your allies) for Xiahou Dun to appear. Ignore Cao
Ren's ambush and concetrate on this task. Once the second ambush party is "discovered",
proceed into the main castle where Cao Cao is and Xiahou Dun will appear with an ambush on
the north half of the battlefield. Kill the Guard Captain to escape the castle and take
out Xiahou Dun. An item report will place the red box near Cao Cao - be sure to get it
before you kill him!
Shadow Runner Harness
Found: Battle of Tong Gate
Force: Shu Forces
Effect: Start stage mounted on Shadow Runner. Shadow Runner is the best horse since you
cannot fall off when hit, unless it is by a rolling boulder, a steam geyser, or an
elephant. This will let officers like Ma Chao a big advantage when they equip the Horned
Helmet while riding!
Unlock: This will take some time, so two players may make it better if both know what
they're doing. Slay all the flag officers in the southern half (Cao Hong, Xiahou Yuan,
Dian Wei, Cao Ren) and the Ice Fortress' gates will open. Dispatch all the officers under
Cao Cao (Jia Xu, Xu Zhu) and if possible Yu Jin and Xu Huang as well. Once this is done,
work over Cao Cao's unit by slaying his men to reduce Wei morale to one star or less. It's
imerative that you accomplish all this within 10 minutes, since at 50:00, Han Sui will
defect to Wei ranks if Cao Cao stands a chance of winning. If Han Sui doesn't defect, an
item report will appear shortly after telling you where the red box is.
Elephant Harness
Found: Nanman Campaign
Force: Nanman Forces
Effect: Start stage mounted on Stampy the Elephant. Stampy can be used to destroy
watchtowers (you get rid of archers quickly) and is almost imperative in any Nan Zhong
Province stage. Stampy is relatively slow, so don't use him for any mission where you need
to be speedy. It's best to simply consider him a very mobile ram.
Unlock: The stage is easy (esp. if you rout Ma Su and let Wu Tugu's unit bear the brunt of
the assault on Zhuge Liang), but meeting the conditions for the red box to appear is hard.
You need to ride an elephant into Zhuge Liang's camp in the north. The hard way is to
follow an elephant rider and hope that an enemy gets lucky and knocks him or her off (it's
easier if the difficulty is set higher, but you'll have a harder time finishing the
stage). The easy way is to exploit Huang Gai's love of bombs and blow one of your buddies
off the elephant, jack it, and ride into Zhuge Liang's camp. Once you do, check your
history box for the location of the red box.
