I N T R O D U C T I O N Hello there. RamzaBeoulve259 here. Yeah. That's what they call me. Well, today I shall write a FAQ for Dynasty Warriors 4: Xtreme Legends. This game is an expansion pack to the game titled Dynasty Warriors 4. Both games use same characters, and same weapons, but Dynasty Warriors 4: Xtreme Legends has more features. But, however, Dynasty Warriors 4 has a Musou Mode and Free Mode, whereas Dynasty Warriors 4: Xtreme Legends does not. You could use a disk swap. Concerning that later. In this game, you pretty much fight. You have certain objectives to fulfill, and certain losses to prevent. You are in the era of the Three Kingdoms, well, in the game, that is. You fight enemies and all. Have fun with this game! 2. F R E Q U E N T L Y A S K E D Q U E S T I O N S Questions to come. Anyone need help? Q: When you use Load Original and turn off the Playstation 2, do u have to reload Original back on even if you have saved mousu data from DW4XL? A: Yes. As soon as you turn off the Playstation 2, you have to use the Load Original option to get Musou Mode and Free Mode when you want to get them again. Q: Where can I find information about the characters in Dynasty Warriors 4? A: You can go to http://www.kongming.net to get information about more characters, including generic ones. 3. C O N T R O L S Here are the controls of the game. Oh yeah, one thing: You need a DualShock2 Playstation 2 controller to play this game, because those only work with this game. B A S I C S Okay, this game is basically about war. You need to know three things. Morale, officers, and commanders. Morale is the dependent factor on which officer of two will win when they battle each other. If your ally officer units battles an enemy officer unit, they may say something about them being weak, or strong. If they say they're weak, then they will most likely be able to win. If they say they're strong, they will most likely lose. There are some ways to raise your army's morale. Defeating enemy officers may help to raise the morale of some officers. Each 50 kills you score may raise morale. Also, completing certain events can help to raise your morale. There are also some ways to lower enemy morale. You can lower an enemy officer's morale if you defeat any sub-officers that they may have. You should defeat all enemy officers in a battle, even sub-officers. This can help to level up your weapon for a freshly, newly trained character. It also helps to change the tide of battle. You have objectives in a battle. Victory states that you must fulfill a condition to win the battle. Defeat states that if a certain event occurs (usually when your commander dies) you will lose the battle. Try to keep your commander away from danger. If you let them fall into danger, they will die, and if they die, you will most likely lose. Try to clear all enemies around your commander so that all is safe. You should try the game on Easy Mode first. Hard Mode and Expert Mode for a new character is not going to be easy. The AI is very intelligent on Hard and Expert Mode. They know how to counter your attacks and they juggle and attack a lot if your guard is down. There are in-battle items in the game. You should try to find them. They can really, really help a lot in dire situation. You can usually find them in boxes, pots, and from killing enemy soldiers. More to that on Section 5. These are pretty much the basics of the game. Use these if you're a beginner to this game. 5. I T E M S Items are helpful in this game. You can find many types of items. Some are special items. Instead, you'll have to hunt them down in treasure boxes. Item Hunting Method 1 --------------------- Now, here's a good way to get good leveled items in Expert Difficulty when you level up any character to his or her max and got his or her Level 10 or Level 11 Weapon. Play Meng Huo's Legend, Nanman Warfare, in Expert difficulty. This stage will be easy even in Expert difficulty. Defeat all enemy officers except for Sima Zhao and rescue all ally officers. It's not required, but do it nonetheless. Now it's item hunting time. Before you hunt the item boxes down, save and quit. Then load up the game again. These are the locations of the item boxes found in Meng Huo's Legend. When you complete the stage, if you're not satisfied with the items, do a reset by pressing Start and Select, and then hunt them down again. If you're satisfied, then that's good. Box 1: In the middle of the southeast horizontal path. Box 2: In the middle of the middle east horizontal path. Box 3: Just west of Sima Zhao's position. Box 4: Just east of Sima Zhao's position. Item Hunting Method 2 --------------------- If you have the original Dynasty Warriors 4 disc, load it up. Then go to Free Mode, and play Battle of Wu Zhang Plains with a maxed out character with a Level 10 or Level 11 Weapon. In this stage, there are five item boxes. If you play in Hard or Expert Mode, you can nab some good items here. Now first, regardless of which side you join, defeat all enemy officers except for the enemy commander. Then save and quit. Then load up the game again. When you complete the stage, if you're not satisfied with the items, do a reset by pressing Start and Select, and then hunt them down again. If you're satisfied, then that's good. Box 1: It's at a dead end cliff to the left of Zhuge Liang's camp building. Box 2: From Zhuge Liang's camp, make a right at the lowest right path. When you have to turn upwards, at the area where you have to turn, find a box containing an item box. Box 3: When entering the gate where Xiahou Yuan charges out, just hug the right cliff wall and you'll find a lone box with an item box in it. Box 4: It's somewhere in the northwest. Box 5: It's a box in the very north, inside the Wei camp. 6. G L I T C H E S A N D L I T T L E T H I N G S Well, not many glitches are found yet. Stay tuned! Prevent the enemy from attacking you in a duel ============================================== If you're worried that you're going to lose in a duel, simply bear to a wall, and then use your bow and point away from your enemy. He/she won't attack you, and you can keep doing this until time runs out. The A. I. Trick =============== This trick lowers the A. I. of enemy officers. They'll still be able to cause the same amount of damage for one hit, but they will be less aggressive. 1) Start the game on Expert difficulty. 2) At any time during the game, press Start and quit the game. Use the Quit function, and not Start and Select. 3) Go to options and set the difficulty to Beginner mode. 4) Do NOT continue the game, instead, start a new game, and select 'Yes' when it asks you if you want to start a new game 5) Any time during the new game, press Start and Select to reset the game. 6) Continue your game. 7. L E G E N D M O D E Well, here's the Legend Mode. Each character has one Legend stage. It pretty much reflects on their historical actions. But some of these Legends are not real. Also, once you beat a Legend with the default officer for the first time, when you play that Legend again, you can play it with characters. You also get ranks for completing a Legend. It's a letter rank. S is the highest, but you can get that only by playing in Expert difficulty. I suggest you do not do it until you are skilled enough. Oh yeah, to use the Unit Info correctly, if there is a hyphen (-) next to an officer's name, that means that the officer is a sub-officer under the above officer. If there is an asterisk (*) next to an officer's name, that means that they appear later as enemy reinforcements or enemy ambushes. If there is a number next to an officer, it means the number of times the officer has appeared in that battle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- _____ _ _ _ _ | ___| | | | | | | | | | |___ | |_| | | | | | |___ | | _ | | | | | ___| | | | | | | |_| | |_____| |_| |_| |_____| The Shu Kingdom ----------------------------------------------------------------------- __ __ __ / |__| |__| | | \_/ | | |\ | /_ | | | | |__| | |__| | \| Zhao Yun The Chang Ban Run Story: In the year of 208 A. D. Liu Bei was settling in Jing Province. Then Cao Cao's massive army had marched to attack Liu Bei. Liu Bei knew that he could not defeat Cao Cao, so he took his peasants and army to escape. But since the march went slowly due to the peasants, Cao Cao had eventually caught up with Liu Bei's forces in Chang Ban. Liu Chan, Liu Bei's son, was abandoned in the battle. All of a sudden, Zhao Yun, one of Liu Bei's generals, decided to turn back and rescue Liu Chan. Zhao Yun must now rescue the young baby, and return to Liu Bei to escape. Liu Chan is found. 2. Both Player and Liu Bei reach Escape Point. Defeat-Liu Bei is defeated. TIME LEFT: 60'00'00 SPECIAL RULES: No bodyguards The stage starts with Liu Bei trying to escape and Zhao Yun declaring "I shall rescue the young lord!" You have to find Liu Chan. He's trapped in a box inside the Chang Ban Fortress. There are many boxes around, but one holds the baby. Note that the one holding Liu Chan is random, but also the boxes are at set positions. Anyway, when you do find Liu Chan, your next goal is to escape outside the fortress and meet up with Liu Bei. Well, finding the baby rewards you with the 1 minute Musou attack. Defeat Xu Huang and Cao Ren to open up the fortress's north gate. Once you do, Cao Cao will say "Hmm... Such a brave warrior is wasted on Liu Bei. Capture him! I will have him serve me!" Xu Zhu will then charge. Also when you make your way to Liu Bei, who is being ambushed by Yu Jin and Yue Jin, Xiahou Dun and Xun Yu will appear. First make it to Liu Bei ASAP. Then defeat Xiahou Yuan, Yu Jin, and Yue Jin. Zhuge Liang may have arrived by now. He will help you. Defeat all the enemy officers that approach you, and then waltz to the escape point with Liu Bei. It should be easy, but a bit difficult on Hard and Expert Mode. __ __ | _ | | |__| |\ | \_/ | | |__| |__| | | | \| | |__| Guan Yu Defense of Xu Story: Escaping from Cao Cao, Liu Bei had settled in the Xu Province, but he found no rest there. In 200 A. D. Cao Cao had led a giant army to attack Liu Bei in the Xu Province. Liu Bei and Zhang Fei attempted to defend Xiao Pei and Guan Yu tried to defend Xia Pi. But their efforts were futile, as Cao Cao defeated them. Liu Bei and Zhang Fei were separated from not only Guan Yu, but also Liu Bei's wife. Now Guan Yu must protect the lady at all costs. Liu Bei's Forces VS Cao Cao's Forces Guan Yu COMMANDER Zhang Liao UNIT INFO Liu Bei's Forces Cao Cao's Forces ---------------- ---------------- Guan Yu *Yu Jin (1) Carriage *Yue Jin (1) *Guan Ping *Li Dian (1) *Zhou Cang *Cheng Yu *Yu Jin (2) (Note) *Yue Jin (2) (Note) *Li Dian (2) (Note) *Zhang Liao Note: If you defeat Yu Jin, Yue Jin, and/or Li Dian on his/their first appearance, he/they will not make a second appearance. Yu Jin retreats after Guan Ping appears. Yue Jin and Li Dian will retreat after Zhou Cang appears. OBJECTIVE: Victory-1. Carriage is successfully defended 2. Both Player and Carriage reach Escape Point Defeat-Carriage is destroyed. TIME LEFT: 30'00'00 SPECIAL RULES: No items This is in my opinion a hard legend stage. Guan Yu has to defend Liu Bei's wife in a carriage. Cao Cao has sent his troops to attack Guan Yu. You have to defend the carriage at first, and then later escort it north to the escape point, where you will confront Zhang Liao. First you have to guard the carriage. Enemy soldiers are invading Xia Pi and you have to kill them to ensure the safety of the carriage. There are gongs next to the west, south, east, and northeast gates. If you ring the gongs (hit them with your weapon), they will close the respective gate and a guard captain will appear. If the guard captain is defeated, the gate will open, but you can close it again. Eventually Yu Jin will appear outside the castle after 3 minutes. As much as you may want to defeat him, I suggest you don't. At least not yet. Stay near the carriage at all times. Kill the enemy soldiers and try to have the gates as closed as long. Some time after Yu Jin appears, Guan Yu will order the carriage to move to the interior southeast section of Xia Pi. But if the west and south gates are opened, the lady will be confused about the invasion. You have to close the west and south gates. Move along with the carriage, making sure that you defeat enemies near it. Guan Ping will appear to hold back Yu Jin, and Yu Jin will withdraw for a while. When the carriage reaches the waterway, an enemy ambush will appear. Defeat the enemies in the ambush and move along with the carriage. Once the carriage passes the waterway, enemy reinforcements will appear to the east. Make sure that you close the northeast and east gates when they open. Yue Jin and Li Dian will eventually appear, giving a morale boost to their own forces. Guard the carriage. Try to find Speed Boots by killing enemy soldiers. They really help a lot. Around 11 minutes Guan Yu will order the carriage to mobilize to the northwest section, and Zhou Cang will appear causing Yue Jin and Li Dian will retreat. When the carriage reaches the north end of the waterway, another enemy ambush will appear. Yu Jin will also appear here if you did not defeat him in his first appearance. He has a horse, which will give you a speed advantage. Defeat Yu Jin and kill all enemy soldiers. Take his horse as well. :P After the carriage passes the waterway, Cheng Yu and a huge enemy force will appear as enemy reinforcements to the southwest. Guan Yu will then realize that retreat must be done, and now an escape point is formed to the north. You have to escort the carriage there. Xia Pi's north west gate will then open. Move along with the carriage. Enemy ambush parties will appear. Also, Yue Jin and Li Dian will appear here if you did not defeat them before. Defeat them both, and ensure the safety of the carriage. When the carriage reaches the escape point, Zhang Liao will appear. Confront Zhang Liao and they'll talk. Zhang Liao tells Guan Yu not to be stubborn, and Guan Yu will agree to serve Cao Cao for a while, saying that resistance will endanger the lady. Mission complete. __ __ __ __ __ / |__| |__| |\ | | _ |__ |__ | /_ | | | | | \| |__| | |__ | Zhang Fei Defense of Chang Ban Story: In 208 A. D. You just have to defend Chang Ban Bridge and kill all enemy soldiers. If too many enemy soldiers cross the bridge then Liu Bei will be defeated. You have to protect his rear. Try to find War God Axes. They double your attack power. After killing 50 enemies, Cao Cao will be mad about it and will send Xiahou Dun, Xiahou Yuan, and Yu Jin to attack. Defeat those three. Then Zhang He, Cao Ren, and Li Dian will appear. Defeat them three. Once they're gotten rid of, kill all enemy soldiers. A last trio will appear after, consisting of Xu Huang, Xu Zhu, and Yue Jin. After defeat them, Zhao Yun will appear from rescuing Liu Chan. Cao Cao will appear, dealing with you himself. Go ahead and defeat Cao Cao. Or if the time limit passes, you also win. Meh. Defeat-Player is slain. TIME LEFT: 60'00'00 SPECIAL RULES: No bodyguards Oooh, what a romantic one. Zhuge Liang must basically defeat Yue Ying 7 times if he wants to marry her. But Yan Yan, Fa Zheng, and Ma Dai have also fallen in love with her and want to marry her as well. You have to defeat them as well. Anyway, Yue Ying is right there, so go defeat her. She's going to be annoying with those soldiers around her, so defeat them all. Once Yue Ying is defeated for the first time, she will then reappear to the southeastern corner, with more troops. Here's the trick, actually: Each time you defeat Yue Ying, you will get a message that says if Zhuge Liang won by what margin. You want to basically defeat her quickly to get a wide margin. She reappears seven times, the last time on the very top of the mountain, with some Juggernauts. Anyway, defeat Yue Ying for a second time. Then go up and left. You should encounter Ma Dai. He claims that "It is I who saw the maiden first!" Defeat him, yes, defeat him. After that, Yue Ying should reappear to the western area. Go and defeat her again. Then she will reappear a bit north ahead of your current point (where you SHOULD be), this time on a horse and with horsewomen... yeah... If you need health, defeat the peons, as they provide lots of meat buns. Once again defeat Yue Ying. By this time you should have defeated her for a total of five times. After defeating her for the fifth time, advance eastward. You should find Fa Zheng. "She belongs to me!" ...yeah, whatever Fa Zheng. Keep dreaming. Defeat Fa |
