Kojima made a name for himself in New Japan Pro Wrestling as a member of Masahiro Chono's nWo Japan stable, and as one half of TenKoji, a stellar tag team with Hiroyoshi Tenzan. TenKoji are considered by some to be one of, if not the best tag team in the history of Japanese wrestling. Unfortunately Kojima's partnership with Tenzan would dissolve as Kojima chose to leave New Japan with mentor Keiji Mutoh to work for rival promotion All Japan, where he is a constant threat for the Triple Crown Championship. At the January 2003 New Japan Tokyo Dome show, Kojima and Tenzan had an emotional reunion, reforming as TenKoji and going over Masahiro Chono and former tag partner Manabu Nakanishi. ======================================== ==SECTION 2: SKILL AND PARAMETER STATS== ======================================== SKILL ----- Real Name.................Satoshi Kojima FPZ Name...................Satoru Kijima Promotion........All Japan Pro Wrestling FPZ Promotion................Olive Japan Size..............................Medium Class..............................Heavy Height............................183 cm Weight............................112 kg Country............................Japan Birthdate......................9/14/1970 Stance.............................Power Offensive Skill.................Orthodox Return Skill.......................Power Critical Type...................Finisher Special Skill....................Stardom Recovery..........................Medium Recovery (when bleeding)..........Medium Respiratory........................Above Respiratory (when bleeding).......Medium Awareness.........................Medium Awareness (when bleeding).........Medium Neck Strength.....................Medium Arm Strength........................High Waist Strength......................High Foot Strength.....................Medium Movement Speed....................Medium Ascend Speed......................Medium Ascend Skill..................Can Ascend PARAMETER - OFFENSE PARAMETER - DEFENSE ------------------- ------------------- Punch.............6 Punch.............8 Kick..............4 Kick..............7 Suplex............5 Suplex............6 Submission........4 Submission........5 Stretch...........5 Stretch...........7 Power.............8 Flying............7 Instant-P.........6 Crush.............7 Arm Power.........8 Vs Lariat.........7 Technical.........4 Technical.........4 Rough.............4 Rough.............6 Ground............3 Ground............4 TOTAL SKILL POINTS (on a scale from 0-300): 175 SKILL CHANGES FROM FIRE PRO D TO FIRE PRO Z: * Switched from New Japan promotion to All Japan. * Offensive power skill changed from 7 to 8. * Respiratory skill changed from "Medium" to "Above". ======================= ==SECTION 3: MOVELIST== ======================= NOTE: This movelist is my direct translation of the Japanese Fire Pro Z Player's Guide, there may be some minor errors. Statistically speaking, he has no weak points. He uses a wide variety of elbow strikes and lariats in combination with some solid technical grapples to put together a potent offense. Kojima is also well stacked in the defense department. He has no problem going toe-to-toe with his opponent, and can usually outlast them in a long battle. He is only at a very slight disadvantage vs. technical moves, which unfortunately describes up a lot of the moves in FPZ. Don't worry, just make sure you're winning the grapple war and you should do just fine with Kojima. Satoshi Kojima should be able to chew up and spit out 90% of the FPZ Junior roster, so have no fear against them. Your only disadvantage, as with most pure pro wrestlers in FPZ, may come against shooters in an MMA environment. When the opponent is down on the mat and near defeat, pick them up so they are standing dazed, then run at them with the Tatakitsuke Lariat Attack. Do this and do it often! Also when the opponent is down, the patented Koji MAX Hold submission is very effective in dampening your opponent's spirits. Satoshi Kojima has the uncommon Special Skill of "Stardom", which means you'll want to taunt every now and then, especially if you're taking a beating. If Kojima's worn down enough and he taunts, his offensive power can actually increase (and I'll bet you thought taunting was good for nothing!). Overall, the emphasis on Kojima is to go primarly offensive, never backing down and always initiating the grapple. And don't worry about getting beat down too much, Koji can take it! STRIKES Kojima has an 8 rating in Arm Power, which means his lariat attacks are very effective, not to mention his running lariat is his finisher and has "CRITICAL!" potential. I cannot stress enough how often this attack should be used with Kojima. Aside from the lariats, Kojima's elbow strikes are also potent, not to mention the new elbow strike in FPZ just looks terrific. GRAPPLES As far as grappling goes, Kojima has enough great moves to put together a very exciting match, as he often does in real life. He has an 8 Power rating, and nearly all of his strong grapples are power based. As with any wrestler in FPZ, you're going to want to work your way up to the strong grapple with Kojima as quickly as possible (if your sole intent is winning the match that is). But the Powerbomb, Fisherman Buster and especially the Diamond Cutter are effective. ====================== ==SECTION 5: CLOSING== ====================== In closing, I would like to thank: * www.puroresufan.com for historical reference. * CJayC and GameFAQs for hosting this guide.
