Having just made it back into the streets of Liberty City after a long stretch inside, Tommy Vercetti is sent to Vice City by his old boss, Sonny Forelli. But all does not go smoothly upon his arrival in the glamorous, hedonistic metropolis of Vice City. Tommy is set up and loses everything. Sonny wants his money back, but the biker gangs, Cuban gangsters, and corrupt politicians stand in his way. Most of Vice City seems to want Tommy dead. His only answer is to fight back and take over the city himself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Guide/ US Version For the Playstation 2 Version FINAL (April 1st, 2003) Guide by Myke - mykeownz (at) yahoo (dot) com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1 Player Memory Card (for PS2) - 500 kb Analog Control Vibration Function Pressure Sensitive ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ *WARNING* DO NOT EMAIL me anything about this game that have been answered in this guide, I know you are really hyped up or into the game, and at least a million reserved it or that's what I heard. So, I know my mailbox will be filled with tons of beginner questions or questions that are answered in the document that I won't even bother responding it back for you. I don't care if you got the game, I don't care if you are ahead of me in the game and I absolutely won't care if you email me and start showing off, I hope you understand. Let me play and enjoy the game first and make this document the best source for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City out there as possible. Now, you may email me if you have a better strategy for those missions I've been through and completed already or a better car information than I have in the Vehicle List, and the same for weapons, etc. If there are 3 or 4 alternate strategies for one mission, DO NOT email me for more, I appreciate it but I think enough is enough, I'm not trying to sound mean, but I can't just stuff all of them in here. Thanks. *CHEATING LOWERS YOUR CRIMINAL RATING* from Snyder I just noticed something that ALL cheaters and GTA gamers need to know if they dont know already. Using a major cheat such as a car spawning cheat DRAMATICALLY lowers your Criminal Rating... *WANT TO FIX THAT ERROR MESSAGE?* Credits to ShadowMafia Okay, I have recieved this damn thing already . I decided to find a fix for it,so here goes. If you use a few select codes, apparantly your save is left alone. I have 4 saves on my memory card...2 are corrupted, and 2 are normal. The codes you CAN use without getting a error message are : All weapons, Full armor, Full health, and No Wanted Level. I tested a few other codes but they all gave the error message if combined. As for the cheat code still being enabled if you reset your console, heres the fix. Apparantly it doesnt corrupt saved games that WEREN'T saved while the 'corrupting' code was on. I recieved this message also, and reset the console only to get it again. The way to get past it is : Turn off your PS2,not just reset it, then try your game. I didnt recieve the errors until after I had used 'corrupting' codes. The 4 above that will not corrupt your game are basically all you will need anyways. *SAVED FILE CORRUPTED?* from Brian Myke, I'm sure you get tons of e-mail a day about Vice City, (Brian, I get more than just tons, like 100 per day, but hey, they are pretty useful emails) but this is in regards to the "DID YOU CHEAT?" section of yout guide. While I can't confirm the part about the choppers not being available, something interesting did happen when I used a cheat. I had just beat a mission and saved. I decided to do a little hellraising then. So I enabled the Group I weapons and flying cars cheat. I played for about 15 minutes and decided to do another mission. So I RESET the PS2 WITHOUT saving after I cheated. After I rebooted the game I played a mission. Everything seemed normal (no flying cars, same old weapons I had before), but when I went to save, it gave me a message about saving a game with cheats enabled. But I didn't save the game with cheats on, I just reset it. Sure enough, it "corrupted" my only 2 save game files I had. Could the game or PS2 somehow write the cheats into a savegame without me actually saving? It seems that it did. So I woud tell people to beware of cheats, for the game may actually "change" you savegames by itself. So I had to restart the game. *RENT THE GAME?* http://www.lilmikey.com/bitbin/gtamap.gif (Credits to M. Nov. 2nd, 2002 I was gone for one day and I got almost 80 emails and most Version 0.4 of them were about Vice City. I was gone all day. Starting tomorrow, I will get into work and try to go farther in the game as I can. Nov. 3rd, 2002 Stop pestering me about where you can find a hideout, Version 0.5 I have added a new section of those hideouts I can find in the game, happy? Walkthrough updated, and the same goes with the weapons and vehicles. Nov. 4th, 2002 Updated the walkthrough, Diaz is dead, Cortez left and I'm Version 0.6 trying to beat Shakedown. Version 0.7 Nov. 5th, 2002 Walkthrough updated to both Rock Band and the Biker. Version 0.8 Thanks to the people confirming that the cheating rumour isn't true. I do have one question though, what part of the game will be affected if you do cheat? I heard that you get a message? Nov. 6th, 2002 Read the "Saved File Corrupted?" message above. Anyway, Version 0.9 walkthrough is done for both the Love Fist and Mitch Baker. I still need to do the final mission for Vercetti, I bought some companies, and I need to go meet 2 other people and a phone mission to do, after that, I'll get to the depth of the game such as Hidden Packages, Side Missions, etc. Hey, I might add an Easter Eggs section, because alot of things in the game are from past GTA games, so I figured why not have something fun to read/look through? Nov. 7th, 2002 Added the Kaufman Cab missions, Umberto Robina's missions, Version 1.0 some boats are added to the Vehicle list...I also bought the Film Studio and Sunshine Autos and I'll get to them after Auntie Poulet's missions. Nov. 8th, 2002 Umberto's and Auntie Poulet's missions are completed, Version 1.1 Sunshine Autos is also completed. I have to do the Film Studio missions, Vercetti's missions, I need to go buy the PrintWork and the Malibu Club and then the Hidden Packages locations last. Nov. 10th, 2002 Not much, added 3 Film Studio missions and some alternate Version 1.2 strategies. Nov. 12th, 2002 Hooray! All of the assets' missions are completed, the Version 1.3 Vercetti missions are completed except for the last one, I will get to the Unique Jumps and Hidden Packages on the next update, including the Street Races, the Hyman Stadium races and some other vehicle funs. I will also work on the Items locations (such as Police Bribes, Health, and Armor) There is this new thing called "Rampage", I'll get to that as well. Nov. 13th, 2002 Phil Cassidy's missions are in and that means the main Version 1.4 part of the game is completed. I will get to the other things such as Hidden Packages, Rampages and such. Nov. 15th, 2002 45 Hidden Packages down so far, I will be busy with other Version 1.5 projects next week, so, I won't be updating this guide as much as I used to. Nov. 18th, 2002 More Hidden Packages are written down, including a new Version 1.6 section called "Rob a Store Locations" and thanks goes out to Anton for submitting it. Nov. 19th, 2002 Police Bribe locations added, Rampage locations added, Version 1.7 Rob a Store Locations updated, this guide is about to be completed. Dec. 7th, 2002 Unique Jumps section added, everything in this document Version 1.8 is completed, you most won't likely see any more update after this version, maybe one or two before the next GTA game come out. Jan. 3rd, 2003 Some strategies from several readers are added. If one pulled you out of the car, you'll be busted that way too. ** - Two or three police cars will be after you and try to take you down. Get to the Pay 'n Spray or grab the Police Bribe somewhere in the game. *** - Helicopter will track you down with the spotlight while police cars and a new vehicle in the chase, the Cheetah will be in pursuit after you. Sometimes they will set up a roadblock or two police cars to act like a barricade to hold you down. *** - Heavy units coming in! Police cars are driving more aggresively than * before and they arrive and catch you quickly as well. A new vehicle in the chase, the Enforcer, and the police start using stop strips *** - You got the FBI after you in their black Rancher! Good job! Now they ** are getting serious about this and try to gun you down. *** - When will you ever give up?! The military are after you along with the *** FBIs, Helicopters, Cheetahs and Police Cars. The military will carry the Rhino and the Barrack OLs with them to get your butt in jail. -Go to any fast food place in the malls or the pizza place and order food and your health will go back to 100 (Credits to Dave Z) ---------------------------------- The first thing you have to do is to head for the hotel, which is the pink dot on the radar, you can take the Admiral or any other vehicle to get there. Enter the building where the pink dot is, you can either save the game (tape cassette) or go on to see what your first mission is. An Old Friend ------------------------ A conversation between Tommy and Sonny took place, Sonny asked if Tommy have the money and Tommy told him no. Sonny got mad and said it was his money and he doesn't like to be put down. Tommy told Sonny that he will take care of it. After the conversation, head to the Lawyer's Office, which is where the "L" is in the Washington Beach area. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1: Ken Rosenberg ------------------------ I. The Party ------------------------ The lawyer tells you about this guy, Colonel Juan Cortez, is the one who set the deal up with him and he has a party going on in the yacht somewhere and the lawyer have been invited but he does not want to go there because there are big guys after him. Tommy shutted him up and he tells the lawyer that he will take care of it. Stop by Rafael's first, his place is in the Washington Beach area, he will give you a nice blue Armani suit! well...maybe not Armani...but its nice though. A scene of a biker shows up, nice bike he says, take it if you want to. Go to the party at Colonel Juan Cortez's yacht. If you can't find it, it is a little bit to the south of the southern bridge that connects the two islands, and you'll see that pink dot on your radar. You'll meet up with Juan Cortez and then he'll introduce you to his daughter, Mercedes. Mercedes will take you around the yacht and tell you about each one of the guests on the boat, then she wants you to take her to the Pole Position Club. Pick a car and go to the Pole Position Club, it isn't far from here. Once you drop her off, you will be rewarded $100. ------------------------ II. Back Alley Brawl ------------------------ Go back to Ken Rosenberg, the lawyer, to see what to do next. He will tell you about this guy, Kent Paul and Ken says that he's always at the Malibu Club, so go pay him a visit. Take your vehicle and head straight to the Malibu Club, it is located right in the middle of the island you are on, but it said its in the Vice Point area. Anyway, head on inside and you'll find the drunk Kent trying to pick up a girl inside the club. He has nothing to give you, Tommy pushed him down and then head outside. Your next objective is to find the chef on Ocean Drive. A yellow dot will appear on your map and that is where the chef is, drive or run over there and you'll find the chef in the alley. Beat him up and take the cellphone, a black man shows up and tried to be partner with you because he saw what happened. More chefs behind you, ignore them and follow the guy back to the car. This time, go to the Ammu-Nation, a gun shop, up in Vice Point. Go to where the Gun symbol is on your map to get there. There are only two guns available to buy, a Colt 45 and Ingram Mac 10. Exit out of Ammu-Nation and then go back to the hotel to complete this mission and collect $200. Head back to the lawyer's office. ------------------------ III. Jury Fury ------------------------ Ken found out that there are guys coming down there and take him out, he thought Tommy said he is taking care of this, he also ask for the money. Tommy told him to relax and he hasn't got to the money part. After you leave the office, the guy standing in front of you got ran over and left behind a hammer, take it! There are two yellow dots on your radar, they were where the juror's car is, go to one of them and then smash the car up, do the same with the other car and you'll receive $400 for this. ------------------------ IV. Riot ------------------------ Finally, something fun to do. Avery wants you to stir up a riot over on the island near Washington Beach. Stop by Rafael's to get new clothes and then head over to the destinated spot. Beat up 4 workers in the area to start a riot, then if you have a weapon, blow up the barrels in the area. If you don't have a weapon, then beat up the police first, grab the gun off him and then target the barrel next to the two vans (press R1) and then fire! One more van to blow up but the barrel is too far away from it and its radius blast isn't big enough to hit the last van. So, beat up some cops and take the pistols from them and start firing at the van. Whenever you see a flame emerges from the front of the van from all the bullet going in, that means the van will explode, mission accomplished, $1000 will go in your hands. That's it for Ken Rosenberg, and you can move on and do some things for Avery, he is the "A" marked on your radar. EMAIL FROM: Mike Christoffel For the Riot Mission - you can enter the third van and just drive it into walls until it lights on fire, to destroy it. Ths is much better than wasting ammo on it. EMAIL FROM: calicat You don't need a gun to destroy the vans. You can just use a hammer or a bat and just keep beating each van until it catches fire. Make sure and back away from the explosion or your toast. It takes a minute or so of whaling on each van but the rioters don't bother you. Rather than fighting your way through the mob to escape, just climb the boxes behind one of the vans and jump over the fence into the construction yard and you can walk away safely. EMAIL FROM: thegremlin When doing Riot you don't actually need to 'attack' 4 guys. Running them over in a car works. Just ram a car into the crowd, back up, run a few more over and then drive out. The guys will chase you down and pull you out of the car though, so drive a bit off and then run back. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.2 - Avery Carrington ------------------------ I. Four Iron ------------------------ Avery wants you to go to a golf club because a big man is there that he does not like, he also gives you a free membership card to get in the golf club. You need some clothing though, head over to JockSport to get the golf clothes. A chick is checking you out, hm, thanks! The golf club isn't far from here, go across the nearby bridge and turn right to enter the club. When you go through the metal detector, you'll notice that you can't carry guns in there and they are left behind. Pick up the golf club to the right and then take the Caddy to where the yellow dot is on your radar. Go up the stairs and one of the guys in black suit will come over you then the big guy will jump in the golf cart and drive away. Quickly jump in the golf cart and chase down after him, but run over the group of guys in black suit first so they won't be any trouble to you. You can try to knock the big guy over on his golf cart and then beat him up. If he has already left the golf club and is on the road, hurry out of the club and jump in a fast car and then keep following him. Once you catch up to him, ram into him as hard as you can and exit out of the vehicle, drag him out and beat him up with your golf club. $500! EMAIL FROM: R. Galovan My strategy is for "Four Iron". First go to where the guy you are supposed to kill, and his bodygaurds are. As soon as they see you, jump into a golf cart and go to the entrance to the club. (dont worry about killing the body guards). Right outside, there should be a white car w/ someone in it. Go ahead and take steal the car. Stay in the parking lot and run over anyone who comes out of the enterance to get you. Wait a while, and the man you are supposed to kill will exit the golf club. He can't go anywhere because you have is getaway car! Just run him over when he comes out, and the mission is over, there is no way he can get away. EMAIL FROM: calicat If you have guns you can smuggle them into the golf course by parking your car next to the big gray oval thing to the left of the country club entrance. Jump on the car and jump over the gray thing. Run around the back of the country club and swipe a golf cart. Then proceed with the mission as usual by going to the driving range. But now you can shoot the bodyguards and and the target. EMAIL FROM: Brandon Roberts for the mission where you go to the golf club go to the entrance and there is a porsche looking car, just drive it straight up along the building, hop on top of it and jump over the fence, so that way you can keep all of your guns EMAIL FROM: thegremlin For Four Iron, you can't go through the metal detector with a gun... but you can take them onto the golf course. As you face the front of the entrance you should be able to see a ramp on the left side by the fence. I suppose this is so you can drive a golf cart around the city. But you can use it to get into the club. Just park a car by it and hop on the hood of the car. From the car jump onto the ramp. Volia, you're inside the golf course. Just hop a ride, drive over to the guy, whip out a gun and plug him from a safe distance. His gomba's didn't even try and fight back when I did this. EMAIL FROM: substance J When you arrive at the country club, you'll notice a ramp on the other side of the fence, to the left of the entrance. Take the Comet that's parked opposite to it, and use that to climb over the fence. Now you're inside, with all your firearms. To make the mission even simpler, take the golf carts parked by the driving range and push them into the water. Your target will have no means of escape. ------------------------ II. Demolition Man ------------------------ Avery will be out of town and he needs you to go to the construction site and demolish it. Run to the Top Fun van to start the mission. You get to fly in the helicopter, pick up the bomb and go to any one of the four pink dots, but with how hard to control the helicopter, you've been given a good amount of time of 7 minutes to get all 4 bombs in each one of their own spot. Pick up the first bomb by pressing [] and then fly the helicopter over to the construction site (where you see 4 pink blips on the radar), drop the bomb on the first and lowest barrel, then head back to pick up another bomb. The 2nd barrel is 1 floor up, the 3rd is 2 floors up and the last barrel is the 3rd floor up. To drop the bomb, press O. EMAIL FROM: hemorse You get the helicopter, and you first learn how to fly it. Fly into the bottom floor of the building, always moving forward and pressing x to gain elevation when you need to. You'll notice that the construction workers follow you. When you have a feel for the building, and you note that staircase, you're good to go. Fly back to the bombs, turn around so you're facing the building, pick one up, and haul butt towards the basement. I always have a problem with time and never with the guards, so don't worry about them too much. Now this is important: start on the ground floor and drop your bomb there (don't worry about accuracy; the game is pretty lenient). Get another and progress up to the second floor, then the third, then the fourth. There's a spot on each floor; fly around until you find it then go back and get another bomb. Don't worry about the guards. On the third floor is a security guard who shoots at you. Don't worry about him either. Now as soon as you place the fourth bomb on the fourth floor, the building goes. Doing this I managed to complete the mission with 1:30 left on the timer, but if you don't leave the fourth floor for last the mission will be a pain in your butt. EMAIL FROM: Charles First of all, get familiar with the rc copter before picking up the first bomb and starting the timer. I find that tapping the x button, as opposed to holding it down makes the copter fly in a better straight line. As for the mission itself, instead of starting with the target on the ground level, go up the inner staircase of the building and start with the highest target, and work your way down. That way, if you're running low on time, your last target will be at ground level, and you'll have a straight shot in, instead of having to race the clock up the stairs. EMAIL FROM: Charly Martin DON'T TOUCH THE BOMBS YET! First just go into the building at a high level... Find a worker and cut him with your blades on your copter... *****Do this on all the floors so that everyone is dead.***** That should make the mission much easier... Then take your time and drop the first bomb at the top and work your way down.... ------------------------ III. Two Bit Hit ------------------------ Avery introduces you to Donald Love, from GTA III, and Avery wants you to stir up a conflict between the Cubans and the Haitians. Go to the clothing store in Little Havana to get a disguise. Head over to where the pink blip is. Block the car where the gang leader is and throw a bomb in there if you have one. If the gang leader has already left in his Romero Hearse, grab a car and chase him down but try not to TAILGATE the Romero Hearse because it will begin to drop coffins and if you run over one, it will blow up. Drive along beside the Romero Hearse and bang into either side and try to get it to hit the wall or get stuck somewhere and then blow it up using a bomb or something. EMAIL FROM: Zinnpage I used the rocket launcher on this mission. Because of the number of gang members in the area, I had to soften up the target a little first. I used the SPAS shotgun to mow down a few rows of bangers, and as soon as the leader pulled off in the herse, I switched to the RPG, and blew up the Hearse. (I can't remember where I found the SPAS shotgun, but it is AWSOME) EMAIL FROM: rooster I found an easier way to complete the mission. First, when you get to where the gang members have the road blocked, make a left and then make a right into an alley. Drive to an open space across from the target. Take the ruger, aim and fire. Make sure you are facing the way you came in before you shoot. After you shoot, floor it and get out of there. Much easier than running him down. EMAIL FROM: A. Bixler I just stomped on the gas, through the small roadblock, jumped the curb and ran over the guy. Then made my way out through the back alley. Mission took all of 3 seconds. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.3 - Colonel Juan Cortez ------------------------ I. Treacherous Swine ------------------------ Cortex tells you about Gonzalez and how he got to a new level and Cortez didn't like where Gonzalez is going, so he needed you to take the chainsaw, whoa...a chainsaw? now that's going too far, but hey! why not do the job for money? Go to where the pink dot is on the map. Head inside and you'll find Gonzalez, head down there and cut him up with the chainsaw. If he escape out of the building, you can just jack a car and run him over, the police will be after you after you kill Gonzalez, so hurry and go to the new pink dot on the map, which is the Pay 'n' Spray, park your car in the garage to lose the warrant and you don't have to pay $100, but next time you park your car in any one of the Pay 'n' Spray garages in the game, you will lose $100. EMAIL FROM: kialindo After killing the swine I was able to complete the mission by grabbing the police bribe to the left of the building as you exit and then I managed to find another bribe in an alleyway nearby. Suffice it to say you don't need to go to the Pay 'n' Spray but just have to get rid of your wanted level in any |
