Platform - Playstation2 Players - 1 Release Date - Oct. 29 (NTSC) Nov. 8 (PAL) Produced - Rockstar Games + Rockstar North Author - Psy (Psycopsy@hotmail.com) Version - 0.87 Start Date - October 27, 2002. Last Update - February 15, 2003. *********************************************************** *Please Check Out My Site With Lots Of Vice City Stuff On:* * www.psycopsy.com * *********************************************************** Now, I know there is a lot of text in this guide, so dont be put off and think, OMG I gotta read all that, but there is so much to do in Vice City, and I have tried to include it in here, so please be appreciative of my, and contributors hard work. ==================================================================== UPDATES: Version 0.87: Not really anything new as such, but I'm getting there. I have decided to pretty much re-write all of my mission descriptions in more detail, but for now I have just done some of the ones I think will be most helpful (and the ones that I was on playing my 3rd game in search of 100% again). Anyway, I have added a bit more on the Driver section, because I know how hard people find it (Just for the record, I BEAT IT FIRST TIME!! :p) I've also added the script from the game which can be found lower down in the guide, with a huge thanx to Jason_C. And, with a huge thanx to Jnc904, I now have a car locations section which can be found under the other vehicle info. I'm gonna work for quite a while on the guide this weekend, and I hope that I an get all of the missions done soon. So... In the next few days I hope to have all missions completed in the guide, possibly all offroad missions, and R3 missions. There is still a lot of work I need to do on the guide, but keep reading, and it'll be done before you know it. Version 0.85: Getting closer to Version 1.0, but until I finish all of the missions in the guide that wont happen. I have added a few things, including an updated Unique Jumps guide, Vehicle Stats from Little_Jewell and pretty much every Gameshark Code made so far for both PAL + NTSC Versions. With any luck, the next update will be the 1.0 version, but my school work is coming in strong now that I'm only a matter of weeks from my final exams. Oh, and yes, for all of you readers, I'm only 15 years old, and I still go to school. I live in England, but that doesn't mean I dont know EVERYTHING about Vice City! Oh, and practically no-one in England talks with that stupid accent that everyone else thinks we do! Version 0.80: Really haven't added much because schoolwork is constantly coming in, not that I do any of it, but i cant get to my pc because of the piles of it on the floor ;) Anyway, i added a few more of the assets missons, Some "Secrets" + Stuff with a huge credit to THAguyINgta3. Also added some possible car colours, which, as stupid as that may sound, has been requested a few times. I have added some real basics of VC for true n00bs. I corrected the links to the pics of the cars on Psycopsy.com, as I have just re-linked the whole site. Speaking of the site, can everyone who reads this guide register on my message boards which can be found here: ********************************************************** * http://www.database.psycopsy.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi * ********************************************************** Hmm.... not much else happening here, but im working on the last few missions and stuff now and so the guide should be *complete* in about a week, depending on how i get on with crappy school work. Oh Yeah... i changed the guide around a bit, u can see by looking at the table of contents. WAIT, one more thing!!! STOP SENDING ME VIRUSES YOU LOSERS! (No offence to anyone who is a fan of the guide), but i seriously get 20 viruses a day, luckily Norton 2003 takes care of em, but its the thought that counts. Version 0.75: Haven't really added that much lately, seeing as I have 3 other Vice City guides on GameFAQs I have been getting a lot of Instant Messages + Emails from people, plus the fact that I'm back to school doesnt really help, but anyway, I hope to have the missions finished within the next week. Anyway, Some info on gangs has been added, thats pretty much it. Version 0.70: HOLY ****. Major Updates!!! Added almost every mission, Rampage Guide (thanx to qwertyuiopasd), 100% list, car list + links to pics, Unique jumps, store robbing, Weapons, police, my review, and a hell of a lot more, check it out. GAMEFAQS ACCEPTED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Passes Out With Happiness* Version 0.30: Added quite a few missions, corrected my mistakes, changed the FAQ around a bit, since I know what I’m doing now! Version 0.20: Added about 8 missions, Radio, and a bunch of other stuff. Just wanna say thanx to everyone who’s sending me stuff, you are really helping me! Version 0.10: Wrote a bit of the FAQ, started the first few missions. ==================================================================== All information found in this document is Copyright of Psy (Simon Elliott) unless stated otherwise. Welcome to the 1980s. Having just made it back onto the streets of Liberty City after a long stretch in maximum security, Tommy Vercetti is sent to Vice City by his old boss, Sonny Forelli. They were understandably nervous about his re-appearance in Liberty City, so a trip down south seemed like a good idea. But all does not go smoothly upon his arrival in the glamorous, hedonistic metropolis of Vice City. He's set up and is left with no money and no merchandise. Sonny wants his money back, but the biker gangs, Cuban gangsters, and corrupt politicians stand in his way. Most of Vice City seems to want Tommy dead. His only answer is to fight back and take over the city himself. From the decade of big hair, excess and pastel suits comes a story of one man's rise to the top of the criminal pile as Grand Theft Auto returns to the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system this October. Vice City is a huge urban sprawl ranging from the beach to the swamps and the glitz to the ghetto, and is the most varied, complete and alive digital city ever created. Combining non-linear game play with a character driven narrative, you arrive in a town brimming with delights and degradation and are given the opportunity to take it over as you choose. As a major gateway to South America and the Caribbean and attracting migrants, Vice City is brimming with diverse characters, so there's a friend for everyone. It is a sociable place and the new guy in town is sure to meet all manner of friendly people in the sunshine capital of America. Athletes, pop stars, real estate developers, politicians, trailer trash, everyone is moving to Vice City to find out what makes it the number one growth city in America. But, as Tommy quickly finds out, trust is still the rarest of commodities. Vice City offers vehicular pleasures to suit every taste. For the speed enthusiast, there's high-performance cars and motorbikes. For the sportsman, a powerboat or a golf buggy lets you enjoy the great outdoors. For those that need that sense of freedom and escape, why not charter a helicopter and see the beauty of Vice City from the air? As the party capital of America, you would expect your ears to be seduced by a host of sultry melodies and pumping beats, but the city is truly rocking. You'll be AMAZED as you sweep through Vice City's FM dial. If you are feeling like trouble, you can tune into some driving rock, or some crucial electro, or maybe you want to slow down with some sweet soul, and there will always be some great romantic anthems if you want to really take your mind off things. For the action man, or outdoors type, there's tons of fun things to do and adventures to be had… guaranteed. For the secretive or creepy type, Vice City is full of surprises, a place where you'll constantly be surprised by the vivacious, fun-loving types who live there and the things you can discover. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is the most diverse and ambitious piece of interactive entertainment yet created. The game is developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. ==================================================================== ********************************************************************* 2. __ ___ o ___ | ' (__/_ (__| | (__/_ (__(__( ********************************************************************* ==================================================================== 2.1 Psy’z Review: Grand Theft Auto : Vice City is the best game I have ever played. The freedom you get, and the hundreds of different things you do makes this game so fun. There are a large amount of missions in this game, there are hundreds of vehicles, including Heli's and Bikes and there are millions of ways to keep yourself occupied. This game is based on the engine of GTA3, which is why people may think it's not much different, but just look at the improvements, better graphics, more vehicles, ability to rob stores, cops chase other people, pizza + Ice cream missions, Buy food to get health... There are a huge number of things, pop car tires... enter buildings... the list goes on, and that's why this is the best game ever created. Graphics 7/10 - Ok, they look kinda cartoony, but they r much better than GTA3 and the water looks real! Sound 9/10 - Hundreds of new ped sayings + the different car engine sounds and hours of radio material. PURE QUALITY! Gameplay 10/10 - Is there anything you cant do? seriously, this game lets you do it all. Replay Value 10/10 - You can play this for 24 hours a day and not get bored of it, its great fun, there are lots of records for you to try and set, and lots of fun things to do. I RECOMMEND EVERYONE GETS THIS GAME... NOW!!!! ==================================================================== ********************************************************************* 3. |__ __ __ o __ __ __ _|_ __ |__) (__( __) | (___ __) (__) | (__| (___ ********************************************************************* ==================================================================== 3.1 CONTROLS: ==================================================================== On Foot: ==================================================================== L1---------------------Centre Camera L2---------------------Cycle Weapons Left L3---------------------Crouch R1---------------------Target R2---------------------Cycle Weapons Right R3---------------------Look Behind Triangle---------------Enter Vehicles Square-----------------Jump X----------------------Sprint Circle-----------------Attack Start------------------Pause Game / Bring Up Stats + Options Select-----------------Select Camera Modes Left Analogue Stick----Walk / Control Movement Right Analogue Stick---First Person Camera View D-Pad------------------Walk / Control Movement ==================================================================== In Car: ==================================================================== L1---------------------Change Radio Station L2---------------------Look Left (Hold O With Uzi To Drive-By Left) L3---------------------Horn / Siren / Jump When Available (Taxi or Perfect Driving Cheat) R1---------------------Hand Brake R2---------------------Look Right (Hold O With Uzi To Drive-By Right) R3---------------------Begin Sub Mission Triangle---------------Exit Car Square-----------------Brake / Reverse X----------------------Accelerate Circle-----------------Fire Gun (Must Hold L2 or R2) Start------------------Pause Game / Bring Up Stats + Options Select-----------------Select Camera Modes Left Analogue Stick----Control Movement Of Car Right Analogue Stick---Turret Control For Rhino / Hose For Firetruck D-Pad------------------Steering / Control Movement ==================================================================== Motorbike Controls: ==================================================================== L1---------------------Change Radio Station L2---------------------Look Left (Hold O With Uzi To Drive-By Left) L3---------------------Horn R1---------------------Hand Brake R2---------------------Look Right (Hold O With Uzi To Drive-By Right) R3---------------------N/A Triangle---------------Exit Bike Square-----------------Brake / Reverse X----------------------Accelerate Circle-----------------Fire Gun Forwards (Or hold L2 or R2 to fire to the side) Start------------------Pause Game / Bring Up Stats + Options Select-----------------Select Camera Modes Left Analogue Stick----Control Movement Of Bike Right Analogue Stick---N/A D-Pad------------------Steering / Control Movement When you have enough speed: Square + Up------------Stoppie Down + X---------------Wheelie (tap X to go for longer) ==================================================================== Helicopter Controls: ==================================================================== L2---------------------Tail Movement Right (Turn Left) R2---------------------Tail Movement Left (Turn Right) Triangle---------------Bail Out Square-----------------Decrease Altitude X----------------------Increase Altitude Circle-----------------Fire Weapon (if it has one) Left Analogue Stick----Push UP To Go Forwards/ DOWN To Go Backwards Right Analogue Stick---Push UP To Go Down/ DOWN To GO Up, LEFT To Turn Right, RIGHT To Turn Left. This is displayed at the bottom left of your screen. It is extremely useful when doing missions as it will be one of your only ways to tell where to go. Here are what the colours indicate: Blue = Water Green = Grass Black = Road Yellow = Sand Grey = Grey Road / Path such as car parks. ==================================================================== 3.3 Wanted Level: At the top right of your screen you will see 6 Black stars. These indicate your wanted level. When you do something illegal and the cops see you, your wanted level will increase. This could be stealing a car, killing a pedestrian, killing a cop, blowing up a car, or lots more. When your wanted level increases, a black star will flash then turn gold. They will start from the right and work along to the left. ==================================================================== 3.4 Health + Armour: Your health and armour are alo displayed at the top right of the screen. The Pink Heart icon is your health and the grey vest is your armour. To start with you will be able to gain a max of 100 health and 100 armour, but as you play through the game it will increase, and eventually you will have a max of 200 health + 200 armour! If you lose all of your health you will be "Wasted". Read down to see about being Wasted. ==================================================================== 3.5 Weapons: At the furthest right of the screen you will see your currently selected weapon + its ammo if it has any. you can change weapons by pressing L2 or R2. ==================================================================== 3.6 Time: The time is the highest thing on the right of the screen, its in 24 hour format, and will be useful. It is just like real time, where 11:00 would be 11 am and 23:00 is 11 pm. As you would expect, as it gets later, or earlier the day on vice City will change. At night cars will put their headlights on, and it will get dark, and in the morning you will see the sunrise. Depending on what direction you face, you can see the sun rays shining in your eyes, which is pretty cool, until you drive into the water... ==================================================================== 3.7 Money: Its very important to know how much money you have in Vice City. There are a lot of things to blow your money on, and so you have to plan how you're gonna get enough to buy that new mansion, or business. Your money value is displayed at the top right of the screen. ==================================================================== 3.8 Options: When you pause the game you will see the options screen, these consist of: ==================================================================== 3.8.1 Map: This shows the whole radar of the islands, and useful places to visit such as mission locations, stores or hideouts. you can turn off the Map Legend here, and zoom in or out to have a good look around. ==================================================================== 3.8.2 Brief: This shows the last few messages that were put on the screen, in case you missed them. Mainly from missions, although stats like Insane Jumps are recorded. ==================================================================== 3.8.3 Load: Here you have the option to load a saved game or start a new game. ==================================================================== 3.8.4 Stats: Here are all the stats that you can do in the game, they show you how well your playing, and also how much of a criminal you are. Good to keep check of, to see how your doing. Read quite a bit further down for a list of every possible stat. ==================================================================== 3.8.5 Controls: This shows the layout and the buttins for the controller, I'm gonna presume you'll keep the controls as default (setup 1) throughout this guide. You have the option to: Change the controller configuration. Change the controller display. Turn vibration on or off. Turn "invert look in first person" on or off. ==================================================================== 3.8.6 Audio: The audio is the place where you can choose the volume levels for the Music in game, or the Sound FX. You can also change radio station, and listen to them while on this page. Finally you can change the output to Stereo. ==================================================================== 3.8.7 Display: This is one of the most important sections of the options. You can adjust the brightness levels, Turn trails on or off, Trails basically make the game blurry, and show trails from moving objects. Turn subtitles on or off. turn wide screen on or off. change the Radar mode, this is useful, as you can turn the radar off, make it blips only, or have maps and blips, depending on how hard you want to make it. Next you can turn the HUD on and off (which is your money / score display at the top right). Lastly, you can change the screen position if its wrong. ==================================================================== 3.8.8 Language: Change the language to: English French German Italian Spanish ==================================================================== 3.9 Hospitals: When you die you are returned to a hospital, these are buildings where you will usually find an ambulance outside it, and a health pickup. The health pickup costs you $20 dollars though. There are hospitals in... Downtown Vice Port Ocean Beach Little Havana ==================================================================== 3.10 Ammu-Nation: Ammu-Nation is a gun store, where you will almost Definitely have to go to pick up some firepower. You can find it by going to the Gun item on your radar. Inside you can buy a range of weapons from pistols, to shotguns, to rugers to sniper rifles, and even body armour. Obviously the stuff aint cheap, but its worth it, so start saving up now! You can find them... North Point Mall Ocean Beach Downtown ==================================================================== 3.11 Police Station: When you are busted you are returned to a police station, at these buildings you will usually find a police car outside it. There are police stations in... Ocean Beach Vice Point Downtown ==================================================================== 3.12 Pink Circles: As you explore vice City you will see a variety of Pink Circles, these do various things, but mainly are for accepting a mission, or doing something in a mission. For example to accept a mission, walk into the Pink Circle then you will see the cut scene. ==================================================================== 3.13 Taxi: If you die or get busted when on a mission, and are returned to the hospital or police station, there will be a Cabbie waiting outside. Get inside it and it will take you back to where you accepted the mission, for a small price of $9. ==================================================================== 3.14 Wasted: "Wasted" is GTA's term for Dying. If you are shot to death you are wasted. When you are wasted you are returned to the nearest hospital. You will lose all weapons and the doctors will take some cash for patching you up. You wil find ways of healing or protecting yourself the more you play the game. ==================================================================== 3.15 Busted: "Busted" is GTA's term for being arrested. If the police catch you, you are busted. When you are busted you will be returned to the nearest Police station. The cops will take all your weapons, and some or your cash as a bribe. Any missions you were on will be failed. You will only be arrested if you have a wanted level. Your wanted level is represented by the row of stars in the top right of the screen. As your wanted level increases you will attract more powerful forms of law enforcement. ==================================================================== 3.16 Characters: Throughout Vice City you will meet a lot of new faces. Tommy Vercetti: You play as my Vercetti, he has been in prison for 15 years for a murder that went worng, and now that he's out his boss, Sonny Forelli has sent him to vice City to get some Cocaine. the deal goes wrong and you're stuck on vice City trying to get Forellis money back. ==================================================================== Sonny Forelli: Tommy Vercetti's boss, he is the one who sent Tommy to Vice City and the one who gave him the money for the coke, but since the deal went wrong, he's pissed and constantly wants you to get the money back. ==================================================================== Ken Rosenburg: He's your first friend in Vice City, a lawyer. Scared to do pretty much anything and likes snorting cocaine. ==================================================================== Avery Carrington: Redneck who owns a construction company, he knows what he wants, and he knows how to get it, and with your help not only can he construct stuff, but he can demolish it too. ==================================================================== Colonel Juan Garcia Cortez: A Colonel who has an accent. Has a daughter who is a hoe. Doesnt like the French. Lives on his ship. ==================================================================== Mercedes Cortez: HAHAHAHAH What a name. This is the Colonels slutty daughter. Likes pleasing EVERYONE! ==================================================================== Ricardo Diaz: Cuban Crimelord. Owns a mansion on Starfish island and knows what he wants. Not afraid to use the work "Dickheads". ==================================================================== Lance Vance: Likes fast cars, the Infernus in particular. Appears to be Tommy's friend although they dont meet in the kinda ways friends do. Says he and Tommy Want the same thing. Can he be trusted? ==================================================================== Kent Paul: English Cockney, likes the girls, although he doesn't have much luck getting them. He has good contact with the Scottish Band Love Fist. ==================================================================== Big Mitch Baker: Leader of a biker gang, seems tough at first, but when you get to know him, hes a cool guy. ==================================================================== Phil Cassidy: Crazy gun wielding maniac. Likes explosives and has a large storage of heavy duty weapons which you can eventually buy from him. ==================================================================== Love Fist: Scottish rock band, like sex, drugs and rock & roll... ==================================================================== *MORE COMING SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE* ==================================================================== 3.17 Saving You're Game: To save your game all you have to do is walk into a Pink Video Tape. You can find one by following your radar to a Pink Square. The more places you buy, the more places you have to save. BE AWARE THAT SAVING AT THE ICE CREAM FACTORY CAN FUCK UP YOUR GAME SAVE! ==================================================================== 3.18 Garages: When you buy a savehouse, sometimes it will come with a garage. If you put a car in here, when you save your game, it will be there when you reload it. ==================================================================== 3.19 Houses: You can buy your own houses in Vice City, but you need sufficient Funds first. Once you buy a house you can save your game there. ==================================================================== 3.20 Police: The cops on Vice City dont take it easy on you, you do anything to break the law, and they WILL stop you, or at least try to. 1 Star - A few on foot cops, maybe a car chase. Star will disappear after a minute or so. 2 Stars - Cops in cars, 3 or 4 cops on foot, shooting and chasing you. Stars wont disappear, so u better find bribes, or a Pay & Spray. 3 Stars - VCPD undercover cops in Cheetahs, police on foot. Spike strips to pop your tires. Cheetahs are fast, and wont stop. 4 Stars - Swat team, numerous Police cars, spike strips, cheetahs, guns, your in deep shit now! 5 Stars - FBI in Ranchers and Washington's, machine guns, good aim, your pretty much screwed. 6 Stars - ARMY!!! Tanks + Barracks OL's! RUN FOR IT! ==================================================================== 3.21 Survival: To survive in Vice City, you have to know where to go, who to trust, and what to do! Your main way of surviving is by getting Health or Body Armour. You will also need to pack some heat (get a weapon... you fool...). It is essential to know where the rare police bribes are, and they pay and sprays because you will definitely need them. Locations of all the things you will need can be found further down in the document. ==================================================================== 3.22 Gangs: There are a number of gangs in Vice City, probably more than in GTA3, and they can make a nice mess of you! Here are the names of the shops, the stuff you can buy, and how much it costs. You will however, lose health when you bail. If you are going too slow then pushing the TRIANGLE button will stop the vehicle, but if you are moving at a relatively fast speed then you will bail. When you bail you will quite simply fall out of the car onto the ground and roll. When you bail from the bike you will jump off the back of the bike and land on your feet. ==================================================================== Carjackers / Car Jacking: This game is not for wusses, you don't have to wait and win cars, or unlock them or buy them.... YOU STEAL THEM, after all, this is GRAND THEFT AUTO! if you see a nice car, or any car driving around you can just take it! If you can catch up to the vehicle all you have to do is push TRIANGLE next to the vehicle and you will pull the driver out and then you are free to roam the streets in your new vehicle. But watch out! You’re not the only one who likes taking other peoples cars. if you have something that takes a car jackers fancy then they WILL take it, so be prepared to give chase to a car jacker once he steals your bike! ==================================================================== Vehicle Damage: Like real life, the vehicles aren't invincible, even if you make a small collision you will end up scraping some of the paint off, or smashing a window. As you wreck your vehicle (as you will most likely do as you speed around, completely dis-obeying the law) there will be smoke coming from the engine. You don't need to worry about WHITE smoke too much, but once you get to the BLACK its time to start panicking because the car is gonna catch fire at any second, and will then blow up! Not only is it collisions that can damage cars, now on Vice City, you can shoot out the windscreen and kill the driver with any First Person View shooting gun, and you can also destroy the various parts of the cars with Bats, Chainsaws and the works like that. There are some destructive weapons that can completely blow up a vehicle in 1 shot such as Grenades or the Rocket Launcher, so you can have fun once you get one of those. More advanced damage features has been added to the cars in Vice |
