CLOSING *********************************************************************** *********************** I. PURPOSE OF BEING ************************* *********************************************************************** I wrote this FAQ for Haven to hopefully give gamers out there some help with the game. This is my second FAQ. The other FAQ I have written is for "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers." In this FAQ, I tried to document almost every aspect of the game HAVEN. Hopefully, this will "walk" people through the game. It's kind of a long FAQ, but I hope that at least in some small way, it will be helpful to those who use it. *********************************************************************** **************** II. CONTACT INFO & LEGAL SCRIBBLES ****************** *********************************************************************** My e-mail is Fable12@hotmail.com if any of you want to throw me a message. Thanks! *********************************************************************** ************************ III. USING THIS FAQ ************************** *********************************************************************** In this walkthrough, I have tried to document every level of the game and provide strategies on how to combat each situation or puzzle. However, the strategies presented in this guide are by no means the only way to deal with any given situation in the adventure. It just happens to be the way I did it. ==================== LEVELS & SILVER KEYS ==================== I have written this walkthrough, giving strategies for each level. For levels with Silver Keys and Runestones, I have also provided strategies on how to acquire the keys and Runestones at the end of each level description. I treat the Silver Keys and Runestones as a sort of "side quest" that does not have to be completed to beat the level. Because of this, my descriptions on how to get the Silver Keys and Runestones are written in a way that assumes you have either completed the level normally or at least have a firm grasp of the level's layout beforehand. At the end of each appropriate level description is a section which is encased and marked "Optional: Silver Keys & Runestone." Here, you will find tips on how to acquire all the Silver Keys for that level, open the Rune Pot, and get the Runestone for that level. You can either play through the level, beat it, and THEN go back to get the Silver Keys and Runestone, OR you can try to get them as you play through a level for the first time. When reading through the normal level descriptions in this guide, you might notice a marker that looks like this: ***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!*** This marker means that a Silver Key is nearby in that area of the level. I have included labels with each marker (such as "First Key") that correspond to the Silver Key descriptions at the end of each level. When you run across a ***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!*** marker, refer to the tip under the "Silver Keys & Runstone" section for that level that corresponds to the key you are looking for to find tips on how to get that key. Example: ***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(First Key)*** Under "Optional: Silver Keys & Runestone" look for: "First: (Insert tips on how to get first Silver Key here.)" *********************************************************************** ******************* IV. THE HUD (HEADS-UP DISPLAY) ******************** *********************************************************************** The HUD appears at most times during the game in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. It contains vital information pertinent to Haven and his adventures, such as statistics on HEALTH, WEAPON POWER, SHIELD ENERGY, and ANTIDOTE (CATANA) SUPPLY. HEALTH ------ On the left portion of the ring on the HUD are five red dots. This is your health. You begin each level with a default amount of three full dots. You can increase your life to five dots by collecting hearts. WEAPON POWER ------------ When Haven acquires different types of weapons, his default weapon (the Mag-Ball) can be modified into different weapons. Each weapon can only be used for a certain amount of time. When the Weapon Power Meter depletes, the Mag-Ball will return to normal. ANTIDOTE METER -------------- On the right portion of the ring on the HUD seven green dots. This is an approximation of the amount of antidote (Catana) Haven is carrying. The less green dots, the less antidote Haven has. When he has no Catana, he will be overtaken by his deadly virus. SHIELD ENERGY ------------- On the right of the HUD is a wing with filled with a blue color. This is your Shield Energy meter. When Haven is on foot, he can use his Shield Energy to deflect enemy fire, perform attacks like Shield Smashes, and power up different kinds of machinery and energy pads. When Haven pilots vehicles, and stuff the Shield Energy meter serves as the "health" gauge of that vehicle. When the Shield Energy meter is depleted, the vehicle will be destroyed, and that's not cool. ORB --- In the middle of the HUD is an "orb" that looks like a screen. In various situations, it will instruct him on items to collect and how to operate machinery. In some cases, it will also act as a RADAR. VALUABLE ITEMS *************************** *********************************************************************** ===== ITEMS ===== Hearts: Little red hearts. Collecting these will add one life point to Haven's Health Meter. He can have up to 5 life points. Catana: Little white spears. Vetch has poisoned Haven and the rest of the slaves. Without this antidote Catana, Haven will be overtaken by the deadly virus. Collect Catana constantly to help keep him alive. Haven can carry up to 79 Catana, but they deplete rather quickly. Shield Energy: Little floating blue luminous balls. Collect these to restore Haven's Shield Energy Meter. Feathers: They are either Red or Blue. Collect these to complete various tasks and gain the aid of Talon. Cogs: Golden circular mechanical items. Collect an adequate number of cogs to restore or repair certain mechanisms and complete various tasks. Shield Dragon: Look closely at Fire Pots - some have blue flames. Those that do, contain Shield Dragons. Break the pot and deploy your Energy Shield to lead the Shield Dragon around. He will follow. Have the little blue guy break those stubborn Flaming Pots. A Shield Dragon can also provide light in those Dark, dingy areas . . . (A Shielded Dragon that gets too close to a Fire Pot might get sucked into the Fire Pot. Just break it with your Energy Shield to get him back.) Hero Stones: Yellow Triangular Stones (tip points up) found on Isle of Heroes. Haven must collect these to prove his worth so he can talk to the Elder Wiseman. Silver Keys: Big, well, Silver Keys (hard to miss). Some levels have these. Collect enough of these, and Haven will get to open those locked Rune Pots. These help you get Runestones. Runestones: Certain levels have Rune Pots that hold Runestones. There are 12 Runestones in the game. Collect Silver Keys to open Rune Pots and gather the Runestones to unlock great secrets. ==== POTS ==== Good ---- Standard Pots: Your basic beige-colored pot. You'll see enough of these to know what they are. Weapon Pots: Look like Standard Pots, but with no lid. Strike one and a Weapon Power-up will appear. Energy Pots: Purple pots with blue energy inside. Hop inside these to recharge Haven's Shield Energy. Also, while inside, press (C) to launch Haven into the air. However, launching Haven will deplete all his Shield Energy. Hint Pots: Green Pots. Strike one, and it will send valuable information and hints to Haven's HUD. Shield Dragon Pots: Looks like a Fire Pot, but look closer at it because it has a blue hue in its flame. Break it with your Energy Shield to get a Shield Dragon. Smoke Pots: Yellow Pots. Strike it to release a thick cloud of fog that will distract enemies and allow Haven to go through an area undetected for a limited time. Rune Pots: Blue pots with yellow designs and wing-like ornaments on the lid. These hold Runestones and are sometimes hard to get to. Collect enough Silver Keys to open these bad boys and get the Runestone inside. Bad --- Spiky Pots: These look like Standard Pots, except they have, well, spikes. Don't touch them - they hurt! You can destroy them with different sorts of Weapon Power-ups. Blinking Pots: These wire-frame pots blink. Strike one and other wire- frame pots around the area will "fill in" and become solid. The new pots could be helpful or hurtful - it's hard to tell until you strike the Blinking Pot. Shielded Pots: Okay, these aren't really bad pots. They're just hard to open. They look like Standard Pots with a white shield coating around them. They usually contain tasty goodies. Break them with Shield Smashes to obtain their contents, but doing so will completely deplete your Shield Energy. Fire Pots: These pots are red. Some hop around and others just have a flame coming out of the top. Either way, they hurt when you strike them. Avoid getting hurt and break them with your Energy Shield. Flaming Pots: These guys look like Standard Pots, but they are engulfed in orange flames. Don't touch the flames, unless you like barbecuing your fingers. They usually have some sort of goodie in them. The only way these guys can be opened is with a Shield Dragon. Really Bad ---------- Bomb Pots: These are red and look like Fire Pots. But if you get too close, they will light. If you stick around them, they will explode and hit you. Not cool. Deploy your Energy Shield to survive the blast. Green Acid Pots: These are red pots that spew green ooze. Don't get close to them because they will explode and hit you. Shield yourself with your Energy Shield. Pot Bots: These guys are nasty. They look like Standard Pots, but when you get close, they transform into robots and start attacking you. Get away as fast as you can! *********************************************************************** ********************* VII. MACHINES & DEVICES ************************* *********************************************************************** Power Sticks: Silver Rods with yellow tops. These hold energy and activate various devices. Stand next to one to use your Shield Energy to charge one. Strike one to transfer energy from the Power Stick to your Shield Energy Meter. Magrider: Blue energy tracks that, when charged, serve as transportation devices. After Haven steps on the air wave device next to the Magrider, his Mag-Ball can attach to Magriders, and he can glide along. Energy Spinner: Green devices that look like crystals with metal casing. Hit the Spinner with your Mag-Ball and it will begin to generate Shield Energy. Spheri Shield: When Haven steps on a Spheri Shield Pad, he will be engulfed by a silver Energy Ball that will protect him in extreme situations. However, the Spheri Shield depletes Shield Energy quickly, so continuously stock up on Shield Energy to keep it functional. Glass Shield: When Haven steps on the proper pad, his body will become transparent and will be protected momentarily from enemy fire. Collect Shield Energy constantly to keep it functional, otherwise, it will deplete Haven's Shield Energy. Mag-Ball Grind: Purple energy tracks above that, when charged, allow Haven to attach his Mag-Ball to it and ride for great distances. You can also steer Haven on these (somewhat). You will have to steer sometimes, because Haven will fall if you run off the track. Obelisks: These look like fancy cocoons that hang from sticks. Bring the right amount of feathers to these to call Talon for assistance. Talon: Haven's mechanical bird friend. Call him with Obelisks. Talon will assist you in a variety of ways if you do. *********************************************************************** ************************** VIII. POWER-UPS **************************** *********************************************************************** ======= WEAPONS ======= Laser Shot (Yellow): Basic projectile Rapid Fire (Blue): Uninterrupted shot Ricochet Cannon (Green): Shot bounces off walls Five-way Shot (Purple): Fires a spread of projectiles at enemies Plasma Shot (Purple): Really big. Really loud. Really painful. Flash Light (Light Blue): Not a weapon, but lights up dark areas for a certain amount of time. ========== SUN SURFER ========== Double Shot: Gives you twin cannons on the Sun Surfer Plasma Torpedoes: Disable shield generators and do triple the damage of normal shots. Hull Shield: Offers ten seconds of protection by converting Energy into a shield. Arial Mines: Not helpful to you at all. They will damage your surfer. They look like power-ups from a distance, so be careful. AND NOW . . . *********************************************************************** ************************* IX. DA WALKTHROUGH ************************** *********************************************************************** HAVEN: CALL OF THE KING is split into levels which offer differing types of gameplay. I have tried to log each level and document it according to its gameplay type. ======================================================================= ---------------------------- 1. ROCK FALL ----------------------------- ======================================================================= LEVEL TYPE: PLATFORMING ========== OBJECTIVES ========== Escape the collapsing mine ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Lord Vetch and the Overlord talk about The Voice and mention something about the slave named "Haven" - how there has been some trouble regarding him. Then, the scene cuts to Haven in his home. He's building a mechanical bird. He calls it Talon. Haven is late for work, so he heads off to the mines. There, he finds his friend Chess. She is being hassled by some guard. The henchman notices Haven is watching, so he turns and fires his laser at Haven. But, he misses, instead taking out a chunk of the wall. And now the mine starts to collapse. Get out - before Haven is crushed! ---------------- THE GREAT ESCAPE ---------------- Note: You must run at the screen, so you will have a limited amount of time to see what is ahead. If you miss Catana - don't worry about going back to get it, or the rocks will flatten you. While running at the screen: Drift left to pick up some Catana and avoid the pit on the right. Next is a chasm that stretches across your path. You must double- jump (X,X) over the chasm. Note: When double-jumping, you can make Haven jump farther by waiting briefly between pressing (X). For example: (X...X) Ahead is another chasm. Double-jump over that one too. Note: Sometimes, Haven may not fully complete a jump. If he is close enough to the ledge, he will automatically grab on to the ledge. Just hold "forward" on the left Analog stick to make him flip up to safe ground. Now, drift to the right to avoid a large crate with a giant emerald. Pick up more Catana if you want and drift left to avoid the oncoming pit. Straight ahead is another chasm. Double-jump over it. Now, be careful because you don't want to run straight into another pit in front of you. Dash quickly to your right and around it. Run between the two metal towers and get ready to do another double- jump over the chasm coming up. Next, drift to your left to avoid the pit. Keep running to come to another chasm. Double-jump it. Now, quickly dash left and dodge the pit on the right. You'll come to another chasm. Double-jump that one too. (But, while you're jumping here, guide Haven over to the right because there is another pit on the left, and it comes quickly.) Dash right, around the pit. Haven will trip and fall. But lucky for you, you completed the level! ======================================================================= ------------------------ 2. VIRESCENT VILLAGE ------------------------- ======================================================================= LEVEL TYPE: PLATFORMING ========== OBJECTIVES ========== Use a MagRider to reach a Cog Grind over the river to reach a Cog Shoot the pots in the Practice Zone to obtain a Cog Collect 3 Cogs and activate the lift into the mines Optional: Silver Keys & Runestone ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Haven is nursed back to health by the helpful Dr. Spong. Haven wants to find Chess. He decides to look for her. You begin the level outside Haven's House. ---------------- GRIND OVER RIVER ---------------- Ahead of you is a group of people and two guards. Run over to them and use your Mag-Ball to knock out the guards. Keep running until you come to a Mag-Ball Grind (big purple thing) that stretches across the river. Jump on the platform and ride the grind across the river to find a Cog. ------------- PRACTICE ZONE ------------- After getting the first Cog, run to your left until you reach the village square. There, you'll see a well, some people, and a guard or two. Take out the guards with your Mag-Ball and run to the well. From the well, you can go four different directions. Assuming you have come from the direction of the Mag Grind and have just entered the square, face the rock wall with the lamppost. Take the left path and run into the "Practice Zone." Here, you can practice shooting various weapons in "First-Person" view. In the Practice Zone, you'll find an Energy Pot (with Catana and a Heart), a green Hint Pot, a Laser Shot power-up, and a Blinking Pot. Above all of this floats a Cog. To get it, run to the Laser Shot Power-up and pick it up. Now, switch to "First-Person" view (L3). Up on the ledge, you'll notice many pots of varying types. To the left of these pots are many floating mines. Shoot all of the pots on the ledge AND the floating mines. Once you've done all this, the Cog will descend from the heavens, allowing you to pick it up and put it in your pocket. Note: Various weapon power-ups deplete quickly. This yellow Laser Shot is no different. However, it reappears in the same spot frequently. If you stand right where the power-up reappears, your Weapon Power Meter will refill constantly. Also, if you want different types of ammo, walk over to the Blinking Pot and strike it. Two pots will appear - one with a Rapid Fire Cannon (Blue), and the other with a Ricochet Cannon (Green). ----------------- MAG-RIDER & A COG ----------------- Run back to the well in the village square so that you are facing in the direction of the river. Take a right and run past the Fire Pots next to the building on your right. Go out to the river to find an Energy Pot with a Heart above it. Climb in and launch Haven (C) to get it if you want. Continuing further into the area, you will find a Power Stick. Next to it is the Mag-Rider and a Hint Pot. The Mag- Rider doesn't work yet. You must charge the nearby Power Stick first. Farther down is a big rock with little balls of blue Shield Energy floating around it. Collect these to charge your Shield Energy Meter (if you have to). Run back to the Power Stick and stand next to it to charge it. When it's fully charged, it will shoot energy into the Mag-Rider and the Mag-Rider will rise. Step on to the purple platform with the air waves, and it will launch Haven up to the Mag-Rider. This will take you around the area and drop you at a platform with a Cog! ----------------- ACTIVATE THE LIFT ----------------- With all three Cogs, dash back to the well in the village square. Face the rock wall with the lamppost. This time, instead of taking a left and heading into the Practice Zone, take the other path to the right. You'll pass 3 Standard Pots. Make your way down the path past a few guards. (These guys drop a Silver Key - more on that below . . .) Watch out for the Fire Pots and Acid Pots. You will come to a brown rocky area with some boxes. This is the entrance to the mines. Run past the boxes, and you'll soon come to a wooden boardwalk with a pot surrounded by Catana. Go to the end of the boardwalk to find the lift. But it doesn't work yet. See that big machine to your left? Walk up to it and press the square (S) button to install the Cogs. -------- THE LIFT -------- The lift works now, so get on and prepare for a ride because the view changes and Haven rides the lift directly at the screen. But you have to guide him safely through this area so he can reach the mines. On the lift, Haven can still move and jump to avoid oncoming obstacles. And, boy, it's a good thing he can - because if he gets hit, it hurts! Okay, the lift will start moving once you get on. First thing, this is a pipe spraying water on the left. Move as far to the right as you can to avoid it. Then, rocks start to fall (and will continue to fall). Try to dodge them, but also stay to the right because flames pass through the left side of the lift. Next, quickly run to the left to avoid another pipe and water. Right after this, flames pass through the center of the lift, move to the right side of the lift to avoid them and a water pipe spraying from the left. After this, quickly run to the left side of the lift to avoid more flames. Stay to the left because a water pipe passes on the right. After this, the lift will start swinging. It breaks and careens into the mines. You survived, but what will you do hanging from that cliff? |---------------------------------------------------------------------| |OPTIONAL - SILVER KEYS & RUNESTONE | |---------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | Silver Keys | | | | First: From Haven's house, run forward to the group of people. | | There is a giant rock on your right. Behind that rock is | | a Shielded Pot. Do a Shield Smash on the pot to break it | | and find a Silver Key. | | | | Second: Grind across the river to the rest of the village. Go to | | the well in the village square and face the rock wall | | with the lamppost. Now, go down the path to the right | | (toward the mines). In this area, there will be about | | three guards. Knock them all out, and the last one will | | drop a Silver Key! | | | | Third: Now, head back to the fountain in the village square. | | Face in the direction of the river. Now, on your right, | | there will be an overhang with 3 Fire Pots and a Shield | | Dragon Pot. Behind these pots is a Shielded Pot. First, | | break the 3 Fire Pots and the Shield Dragon Pot to get to | | the Shielded Pot. Use a Shield Smash to break the | | Shielded Pot and find another Silver Key. | | | | Note: You'll probably have to recharge your Shield Energy after | | breaking the first 4 pots and before you break the Shield | | Pot - remember you need at least SOME Shield Energy to break | | a Shielded Pot. | | | | Fourth: Now, head back down to the river where the Mag-Ball Grind | | is. You can leave the Shield Dragon where he is for now. | | On your way back to the Mag-Ball Grind, you'll see an | | octagonal silver cage. Near that (by the building) is a | | blinking pot is a Blinking Pot. Strike the Blinking Pot. | | Now, turn right and head around the building back into | | the village square to find three Flaming Pots under an | | overhang and behind some boxes. | | | | Note: Before striking the Blinking Pot, the Flaming Pot in the | | center was just a wire frame and therefore inaccessible. | | | | Now, pick up the Shielded Dragon from where you left | | him. Deploy your Energy Shield to have the Dragon | | follow you. Return to the three Flaming Pots. Have the | | Dragon break them. In the middle one, you'll find a | | Silver Key. | | | | Fifth: Now, lead the Shield Dragon over to that cage by the | | river. The little guy will go inside, and the cage will | | start to hover. Jump on it. The Silver Key you want is | | floating a few feet away over the river. Deploy your | | Energy Shield again (if it's not already out) and point | | Haven toward the river and the key. The Shield Dragon | | will want to follow your Energy Shield and therefore will | | guide the cage closer to the floating to the floating | | key. Then, double-jump over to the | | shore and head to Haven's house. From there, take a right and run | | to the Mag-Ball Grinder made of wooden pylons. Step on the | | platform and ride the Grinder. | | | | Note: In order to successfully make it to the Rune Pot, you must | | steer Haven on the Mag-Ball Grinder. Otherwise, he will | | fall off. It might take a couple of tries, but keep at it! | | | | The Mag-Ball Grinder will drop you off on a platform just before | | the Rune Pot. You must double-jump to get to the Rune Pot. Press | | the square (S) button to open the Rune Pot and grab the Runestone. | |---------------------------------------------------------------------| ======================================================================= ------------------------ 3. VIRESCENT MINES --------------------------- ======================================================================= LEVEL TYPE: PLATFORMING ========== OBJECTIVES ========== Find the 2 Cogs to Operate the Hand Cart Find the Reactor and destroy the 4 Fuel Cells Make your way to the Seismech III Mineral Mining Zone Optional: Silver Keys & Runestone ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Haven is still hanging from the grate on the cliff. -------------------- 2 COGS & A HAND CART -------------------- ***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(First Key)*** First: Pick up the Catana and Heart as Haven is hanging from the grate. Then, inch over to the right edge of the grate and press (X) to drop down to the grate below. (Don't hit the Fire Pots on your way down.) When you land, run to the right, off the grate. Ahead of you will be 4 Catana in a straight line. Pick them up and head in the direction of the two Fire Pots. Double-jump to get the Heart between the Fire Pots. Next to these Fire Pots are 4 rocks in the lava that periodically submerge. Jump to each rock when it appears to make it across the lava. Note: When the first rock appears, wait for the second to appear. Then, quickly jump to the first rock and diagonally to the second. Then, jump diagonally right to the third rock. Quickly jump left to the fourth rock and then ahead to the fifth rock. After that, jump straight to the other side. You must move quickly from rock to rock before each submerges. When you make it to the other shore, turn to the right, avoid the Acid Pots, and run along the path until you come to a lava fall (like a waterfall, only with lava)and some wire frame pots. Stop there and look right. A giant rock will periodically emerge from the lava fall and wait. When the rock emerges and pauses under the Catana, double-jump to it and then double-jump straight across the river of lava to the other shore. Upon landing on the other shore, you will notice a Cog surrounded by Fire Pots. Jump into the middle of the Fire Pots and jump out to get the Cog. DON'T use your Mag-Ball or you'll get hurt! Second: Next run on down the path. You will come to a platform that raises high into the air and some giant turbines. Turn right at the turbines and run along the lava's edge, past a miner, to find a Cog! Hand Cart: Now, return to the giant raising platform. When it comes down to ground level, step on and ride it up. Now, jump on to the tops of the turbines. Keep jumping forward across more turbines and platforms until you come to a platform with a Hint Pot. On the corner of this platform, you'll find the Hand Cart. Step in and follow the button sequence to operate the cart and pull yourself to the next platform above. Note: The Hand Cart button sequence is different every time you use the cart. ----------- THE REACTOR ----------- When the Hand Cart reaches the desired destination, quickly jump out of the cart to the platform. Jump to the next platform to find a Blinking Pot. Strike it to get 2 pots with Hearts and 6 Bomb Pots that block your path. Run up to the Bomb Pots to light them, then get away quickly to and watch them explode. Ahead of you are two moving grates - going back and forth. Just step on the first one and double-jump to the next platform. On this platform is another Hint Pot and a Shield Dragon Pot. Break the Shield Dragon Pot with your Energy Shield (recharge it if you want to with the nearby Energy). Deploy your Energy Shield and carefully step to one of the two moving grates when they come your way - the Dragon will follow. Ride the grate until you can step on the next grate and ride it to the next platform. Note: I don't recommend jumping here while trying to keep your Energy Shield open. You might end up doing a Shield Smash, which will send you down into the scorching lava below! ***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(Second Key)*** On the last platform, you'll find 3 Flaming Pots. Have the Dragon break them all to find 2 Hearts and Catana. Now, double-jump to the cliff ahead. You can leave the Shield Dragon on the platform. Next, run into the cave to find some robots digging. They spew boulders everywhere. You can either wait for them to stop (which they periodically do), or you can just deploy your Energy Shield and run straight on through. Up ahead is a "Light" Power-up and a room where it gets dark. Pick up the "Light" Power-up. In the room, you'll notice a gun that rotates. If it spots you, it will fire - and that's not something you want, so wait for it to rotate past you. Then, run through the room to the other side (basically straight, but taking the left path). Be sure to avoid the pit in the middle of the room. Enter a tunnel with huge gray spinning machines. Pick up the "Light" Power-up so you can see, and run through the tunnel, avoiding the machines. ***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(Third & Fourth Keys)*** You will come to some stairs that lead to the Reactor Room. Run up the stairs and go left around the corner of the structure to find a pot with a Heart and a Ricochet Cannon (green) Power-up. Pick it up and take out the guards that come at you. Keep running around the structure until you come to some stairs and a giant circular gate. Jump through the gate and up to the incased space where the Reactor awaits, avoiding the lava below. The Reactor is a giant red tube. Around it are the 4 smaller red Fuel Cells. Use your Mag-Ball to destroy the Fuel Cells. A gear will then shoot off of the Reactor, blowing out a portion of the fence. ------------------ TO THE MINING ZONE ------------------ It appears the gear also knocked a metal grate walkway down, creating a new path for Haven. Run up the walkway. In the tunnel ahead, there'll be some guards - look out. Now, here you can either go straight ahead, or take a right and run through the water. Either way, you'll end up in the same spot. There is a guard in the water, though. So, moving forward, make your way to another room with metal grating. You'll find a Blinking Pot next to the entrance. On the right, after walking through the door is a Heart. Don't hit the Blinking Pot, or you'll get an Acid Pot and 4 Bomb Pots to deal with. Walk along the metal grate pathway and on to the wooden bridge. The bridge will collapse, and Haven will be forced to swim. Here's a reminder on the Underwater Controls: Underwater Controls ------------------- (X)...........................Tread/Ascend/Jump Out of Water Left Analog Stick.............Swim/Dive Left Analog Stick + (X).......Surface Crawl Stroke From where you land in the water, have Haven do a Surface Crawl Stroke to the left where two platforms are resting at water level. Jump on to the first platform and then jump up to the second to find a Heart and some Shield Energy. From there, look around; you'll see another platform not far away with a Power Stick and a Mag Rider. Jump toward the Power Stick platform and swim to it. Surface, and jump on to it. When you get to the platform with the Power Stick, you'll see a Hint Pot, which will tell you to use the Mag Rider to get back to the bridge. Well, you have to charge the Mag Rider first, so step over to the Power Stick and use your Shield Energy to charge it. When it's fully charged, the Mag Rider will lift off. Step on the purple pad with the airwaves to get to the other section of the bridge. From the bridge, run up the rocky path, collecting the Shield Energy. When you get to the top of the path, you will see a Laser Shot (yellow) Power-up and a giant teslacoil device zapping energy across the path. Wait for the energy to momentarily cease, then dash through the open area to the pot ahead. It has a Heart. ***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(Fifth Key)*** On the right is a giant tunnel infested with floating robot bugs. Run through the tunnel, shooting them down. Deploy your Energy Shield, if you must, to make it through unscathed. Coming out of the tunnel, you'll notice a HUGE chasm and some rock towers spaced evenly apart. You must jump your way across each rock tower to make it safely to the other side. Note: The rock towers will start to crumble once you land on them, so you must jump quickly to each rock tower unless you want to tumble into the depths. I'm guessing you don't, so move quickly here using double-jumps. Once you make it safely across the chasm, to the other side, there is a hole. Drop into it. It's not over yet, so get ready . . . --------- LAVA RUSH --------- Okay, you'll drop down to a tunnel, and Haven will have to run at the screen - and do it FAST because lava is rushing behind him to swallow him up! While running at the screen, weave right then left around two Fire Pots. Then, run in the center of the path to avoid two more Fire Pots. Drift around another and get back in the center to weave between two Standard Pots. Then, you'll come to a metal car that obstructs your path - jump over it. And don't forget to double-jump over three more Fire Pots that stretch across your path. Ahead is another row of Fire Pots - well, double-jump over those too. Run on ahead and weave left, then right around two Fire Pots. Jump over a row of three Standard Pots. Pick up some Shield Energy in the center of the path. Deploy your Energy Shield and run straight through the row of Fire Pots ahead. Next, head to the right, then cut left a quick left through some boxes. Weave right once more to get around another box. After this, stay to the right to avoid a Fire Pot. Run past a box and cut left to avoid a Fire Pot. Cut right to get around a box. Jump over a bar - look out for the Fire Pots in the center. Then jump over another bar. Ahead are three pots that cover your path. They are spread out and go from left to right (you'll see what I mean). Double-jump diagonally over them. Stay to the left and dash past a couple of Fire Pots. Run on ahead to find a similar layout - 3 pots spread out across your path, going left to right. The one in the middle is a Standard Pot - the others are Fire Pots. Break the Standard Pot with your Mag-Ball or jump over it. Ahead is another Standard Pot. Beyond that is a series of Fire Pots laid out in a wave formation |
