This is my first FAQ, and hopefully not my last. Please bear with me if it's not up to snuff in some places. Anyways, this FAQ is, of course, on Killzone. I'll try my best to put story parts in order, so don't skip ahead if you give a crap about spoilers. Killzone is a first person shooter (FPS) that takes place in the future with futuristic weapons and vehicles and so forth. It's much different than most FPS due to the fact that you can't just charge through and beat the game that easily. If you do, you will be taken down quickly-no doubt about it (unless you're using codes). I've been wanting to get this game for the longest time, well before it came out. I was looking forward to this almost as much as I was looking forward to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I was not disappointed. This game is wonderful; it has great gameplay, a great story....and well just great everything. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: SECTION 2: COPYRIGHT AND EMAIL POLICIES :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: This FAQ is copyrighted 2005 Brandyn Lee. I'm a little less restrictive on AIM or MSN. I don't like people to spam me with stuff that has nothing to do with anything. If I get too many people talking to me, I'll have to make it to where noone except my friends will be able to IM me and I'll remove my AIM sn from the top of this. You will then have to resort to email for your questions. Sorry. Also, SEND ME QUESTIONS! What's a FAQ/walkthrough without a FAQ? The ones that are asked the most will be put into the FAQ section. And if you find anything missing that you can help me with, send that in along with your name so I can give you credit. :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: SECTION 3: GAME BASICS :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: :::::::: Controls :::::::: (keep in mind these are only the default controls and can be changed at the options menu) L2: Crouch R2: Secondary Fire/ Fire weapon (if the weapon has no secondary fire) L1: Throw grenade R1: Primary fire/ fire weapon Square button: Heat vision (Luger only, other characters don't need the square button) O (circle) button: (hold) pick up weapon/ (tap) cycle through weapons /_\ (triangle) button: Reload weapon X button: Action (climb, melee, hop over wall, etc) Left analog stick: Move right analog stick: Aim/ Look R3 (click right analog stick): Zoom L3 (click left analog stick): (hold) Sprint Start button: Pause Select button: Objectives :::::::::: Techniques :::::::::: As I said in the introduction, Killzone is much different than most other FPS. You can't just go gung-ho and charge through the rooms and actually expect to win the game. You have to take it methodically, one step at a time, without rushing. This involves a few things I'll explain in this section. Let's start with the easy stuff. Sniping ------- Sniping is a bit different in this game than it is in most other games. It's a bit more difficult for some and for others it's easier. First off, the orange glow can sometimes hinder visibility, especially in the outdoor levels. In the indoor ones it works out fine. Another thing different about sniping is the scrolling. Instead of the crosshair staying in the center of the screen while the camera moves, the camera stays still while the crosshair moves. When the crosshair gets close to the edge of the screen the camera moves in the direction the crosshair is going. Sniping is a skill that will be very useful in some levels. You might want to practice it in deathmath or other Battlefield modes. One more thing, always, always, ALWAYS try to go for headshots. They're more efficient and look better on your profile. Using cover ----------- You'll want to get behind your surroundings so it will take the bullets instead of you. In order to get behind low-to-the-ground objects, press L2 on your controller to crouch. It will make you harder to see for the enemy plus it makes you a smaller target. This is the best way to fight, especially if you're trying to fight off several enemies at once (which you will be doing most of the time). When not fighting, you might want to stay crouched most of the time just in case someone comes out of nowhere and shoots you (unless you know it's safe or you're needing to run). Also, when grenades are thrown at you or near you, run like hell to get away (just thought I'd note that :-D). Using your gun -------------- You never want to fire in long strings because your gun well lose it's acurracy quickly if it's a automatic weapon (especially Helghast guns). The only exception to this rule is when you're trying to keep someone pinned down, then accuracy means less as long as you fire into their general area. Just watch out when you do that because most clips on guns don't last terribly long and while you're reloading the person can shoot back at you (then you can duck behind something and use cover, but the roles will be switched and you will be pinned down). When you're with allies, however, they can keep firing while you reload to keep the person pinned down. Using grenades -------------- Grenades are pretty simple...or so you might think. If you don't use them properly, you'll end up with a body full of frag and a game over screen. Have you ever seen those shows where one guy kicks open a door and another guy chucks a grenade in there to clear it out and they all storm and and shoot everything that moves? That works in the game too! Well...sorta. If you throw a grenade where you're sure enemies are, you can take them all out in one fatal blast. Watch out though, they may richochet back at you, and if you cooked the grenade you don't have a chance. Which brings me to the subject of cooking. Cooking a grenade is when you hold onto the grenade for longer so your enemies have less of a chance to get away in time unscathed. There is a counter on the grenades that beep and a light turns on the longer you hold on to them. If all the lights turn on, the grenade detonates. To cook a grenade, simply hold the throw grenade button (L1). Avoiding fragmentation ---------------------- This section is for when you're on the recieving end of a frag. There isn't much to avoiding a grenade. Just try to pay attention to the noises around you and when an enemy says "Frag out!", run like hell to get away from there as quickly as possible. When the enemy yells that, it's most likely a type of frag that explodes on impact instead of a timer. Fragmentations have a distinct noise when they explode that you will learn to listen for. I can't explain it with words but you will soon learn the sound. Understanding your Heads Up Display (HUD) ----------------------------------------- This section will explain to you what all the symbols means on your HUD. In the center of your screen is the cross-hair. It tells you where your bullets will go. When it turns read it means your aiming at an enemy. When it turns green it means your aiming at an ally. At the lower left-hand corner of your screen are two meters. The big one on top is your health and the thin one on bottom is your stamina meter. When your health meter goes down, it changes color and when it finally empties, you die. It regenerates part way over time (any other part you'll need health to regenerate it). The stamina meter measures how long you can sprint. Press L3 to sprint. You can't fire or change weapons when you do. When the meter turns red that means you can't sprint until it changes to a bluish color. The symbols in the lower right are all your weapons symbols. The one on the leftmost part of these symbols is the grenades symbol. It says how many grenades you have (duh!). The next one over shows your secondary fire ammo. With most guns you can only carry a limited amount of secondary ammo and your gun carries only one. The number on bottom shows how much secondary ammo you have (not including what's in your gun). If your gun doesn't have any secondary fire, this will be blank. Finally, is the symbol on the far right. This is the primary ammo. The number on bottom is the number of bullets you're cuurently carrying (not including what's in your gun). The symbols on top shows how much is in the gun. When this empties, your character automatically reloads and takes away from the number on bottom. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Differences Between Difficulty Levels ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Easy ---- Simple, easy, good for beginners. The enemies are less intelligent and use many stupid tactics. This mode is great for those who are new to Killzone or FPS in general. The enemies are also taken down faster. Normal ------ The default difficulty level. This is good for those who may be new to Killzone but know how FPS work. The enemies are stronger, smarter, and faster than before. The game is still very beatable, of course. Hard ---- Now this is a real challenge. Enemies are almost human. They are intelligent, strong, fast, and their weapons can easily take you out. Instead of your allies being able to take as much damage as needed, they can actually die and you must finish the level on your own. They do come back in the next level, however. :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: SECTION 4: VEHICLES :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: ISA Lancer ---------- Threat: None (it's your ally) Weapons: Cannon Description: This is basically just an ISA tank. It has the fire power of the rocket launcher. As far as I know, you only see this once during the entire game and that's during mission 1, part 4. Helghast Tank ------------- Threat: High Weapons: Cannon, machine gun on top Description: This tank reminds me a bit of a spider. It's machine guns are extremely powerful and can take you out in just a few seconds. It's rocket cannon can kill you or take out most of your health in one hit. When you encounter one, hope that you have a missle launcher. Helghast Dropship ----------------- Threat: Slightly low Weapons: Soldiers, machine gun Description: All it does is just flies in, deploys it's troops and then leaves. Machine guns provide covering fire for the troops it carries while they're getting out. It usually drops 8 soldiers. Helghast Jetbike ---------------- Threat: Medium Weapons: machine guns Description: This flying vehicle strafes with it's guns to kill ISA soldiers. The guns are usually pretty easy to dodge due to surrounding cover. However, if they do hit you, they cause quite a bit of damage. Most of the time you need not bother killing them. Helghast Carrier ---------------- Threat: Medium-high Weapons: Soldiers, machine gun Description: While troops are climbing out the back you always want to take down the soldier manning the machine gun or else he'll keep you pinned down with heavy covering fire. The bullets are strong and it deploys quite a bit of men. Helghast Attack Boat -------------------- Threat: Medium Weapons: Soldiers, MG Description: As far as I know, they only appear on mission six (the swamp). They cause a bit of damage but they're so easily taken out with regular bullets it isn't even a challenge to destory them. :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: SECTION 5: WEAPONS (thanks to Official Playstation Magazine for the names) :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: Note: The max ammo carrying capactity does not include the amount of ammo already in the gun. It's only what you can carry without the gun. ::: ISA ::: Implaced Machine Gun -------------------- Scope: Yes Secondary Fire: No Clip capacity: Unlimited MaxAmmo Carrying Capacity: You can't carry it Description: Exactly what the name implies. It's just a strong machine gun with infinite ammo that can decimate your opponents. You just can't carry it around. Oh, and it does over heat so be careful. Chain Machine Gun ----------------- Scope: No Secondary Fire: Missle Clip Capacity: 800 Max Ammo Capacity: 800 Description:A powerful gun that Rico uses. It slows you down though. In campaign mode you started with....wait for it....800 FREAKING ROUNDS. Plus you don't have to reload. In Battlefields it starts with 300 rounds. Grenade Launcher (thanks to David for info) ---------------- Scope: No Secondary fire: ? Clip Capacity: 6 Max Ammo Capacity:6 Description: What do you think? It shoots frags that explode on impact. Nuff' said. Missle Launcher (thanks to David) --------------- Scope: Yes Secondary Fire: laser guided missle Clip Capacity: 1 Max Ammo Capacity: 3 Description: The primary fire shoots a missle straight ahead. The secondary fire has a missle that tries to follow your laser thing. ISA Assault Rifle ----------------- Scope: Yes Secondary Fire: Shoots grenade thing that drops into the ground and explodes Clip capacity: 30 Max Ammo: 450 (6 grenades) Description: Basic assault rifle that's more accurate than the Helghast rifle but has a slower rate of fire. It works well for most situations. ISA Knife --------- Scope: No Secondary Fire: No Clip Capacity: None Max Ammo Capacity: None Description: Just a knife. It's instant death in Luger's hands though. Grenade ------- Scope: No Secondary Fire: You can cook it...does that count? Clip Capacity: You can only carry one in your hand. Max Ammo Capacity: 5 Description: You just chuck it and it explodes. Whammo. ISA Pistol (thanks to David for info) ---------- Scope: No Secondary Fire: No Clip Capacity: 7 Max Ammo Capacity: 80 Description: A plain ol' one shot pistol. I usually trade it out before I use it Sub-Machine Gun --------------- Scope: Yes Secondary Fire: Grenade Clip Capacity: I don't know Max Ammo Capacity: I don't know Description: Just another gun. I rarely use it. It has a semi-high rate of fire. Silenced Sub-Machine Gun ------------------------ Everything is the same as above except that it's silenced and it's for some reason more powerful. Shotgun (thanks to David for info) ------- Scope: Do you need one? Secondary Fire: Two shots Clip Capacity: 8 Max Ammo Capacity:40 Description: Very powerful in close-quarter combat. Effiency decreases rastically over distance. Luger's Sniper Rifle -------------------- Scope: Yes Secondary Fire: No Clip Capacity: ? Max Ammo Capacity: ? Description: Another nifty rifle. When zoomed in, press square to go into night vision to help you see. :::::::: Helghast :::::::: ALAT ---- Scope: I don't think so Secondary fire: None Clip Capacity: Unlimited? Max Ammo Capacity: Unlimited? Description: Big honkin' anti-armor emplacement. I don't think you can actually use it. Anti-Aircraft Gun ----------------- Scope: Yes Secondary Fire: None Clip Capacity: Unlimited Max Ammo Capacity: Unlimited Description: You only use this once on the second level. When you get on it, you have a lot of fire power but you're out in the open so you're pretty vulnurable. Emplaced Machine Gun -------------------- Scope: Yes Secondary Fire: None Clip Capacity: Unlimited Max Ammo Capacity: Unlimited Description: You see several of those. They have an insanely high rate of fire but they're really inaccurate. Just hope you're not on the recieving end of it. Missle Launcher (thanks to David) --------------- Scope: No Secondary Fire: Triple shot Clip Capacity: 1 Max Ammo capacity: 3 Description: It turns out it DOES exist. Still never used it. The secondary fire is also horribly inaccurate. ADAT ---- Same as Above Knife ----- Look at the ISA knife description. It just looks different. Battle Pistol ------------- Scope: No Secondary Fire: None Clip Capacity: 1 Max Ammo Capacity: 7 Description: It shoots grenades with a pistol. Useful for clearing out a group of people. I personally don't like it too much. Helghast Pistol --------------- Scope: No Secondary Fire: Single Shot Clip Capacity: 15 Max Ammo Capacity: ? Description: It's semi automatic and fires in short bursts. Other than that it's like the ISA pistol. Helghast Assault Rifle ---------------------- Scope: Yes Secondary Fire: Shotgun like round Clip Capacity: 50 Max Ammo Capacity: 300 Description: Like the ISA one except it has a higher rate of fire with lower accuracy. Light Machine Gun ----------------- Scope: No Secondary Fire: None Clip Capacity: 100 Max Ammo Capacity: 300 Description: Has a high rate of fire, low acuracy, blah blah...The aiming is harder without a zoom feature though. It has a nice clip. Sniper Rifle ------------ Scope: Yes....no shit... Secondary Fire: none Clip Capacity: 6 Max Ammo Capacity: 24 Description: It has nice range. I like using it. Except for that orange glow that will kill you in outdoor levels. The scope is fixed until you move the crosshair against the side of the screen, then it moves. I has a one shot kill most of the time. Good for taking gunners out on tanks. If your enemy has it though, stay covered. Even then you have a chance of getting kill if you come out a little bit. Just check out the park level. :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: SECTION 6: STORYLINE :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: Killzone has a fantastic storyline (at least for a FPS). In this section I will explain everything that has happened up to the beginning of the game. In the walkthrough, I will explain everything that's happening as you move along. Helghan is a planet that has been colonized by our decendants. Its atmosphere and its other enviromental things were damaging the the colonies at first. Its inhabitents were sickened and weakened; many died. But the sickness then became a strength. It made their bodies larger, more muscular, almost superhuman. However, it did not make them invincible. The Helghan leaders now claim that the ISA has suppressed and conquered them like beasts. They say the ISA is evil and they have made a call to arms. Thousands, hell, even millions across the planet of Helghan have answered. The Third Helghan Army launched an attack on Vekta, a planet near Helghan, in order to unleash revenge. The Stationary Defense platforms attempted to launch an attack on them but for some bizzare reason failed. Many Helghan ships have crossed the Vektan atmosphere and have landed on the planet. They slaughter mercilessly. If you stand against them, they will kill you. If you join them they will brainwash you into submission or they'll kill you for the heck of it. ISA forces on Vekta on outnumbered and out-gunned. Meager attempts at resistance have been made, nearly all of it has failed. They're taking over and nothing can be done to stop them. Communications are being taken down. Soldiers are being cut off and killed. Helghan is taking over. However, there is one particular, unimportant line of defense that holds Vektas only hope. His name is Captain Templar. You play as Captain Templar as you try to save Vekta from the clutches of evil. You will have the oppurtunity to play as 3 other characters who I will explain in the next section. :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: Section 7: Characters :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: ::::::::::::::::::: Playable Characters ::::::::::::::::::: Captain Templar --------------- Part of the force: Rapid Reaction Force (RRF) Description: Templar is the basic, all-around kinda guy. He has pretty good skills in all the weapons, and he has nice speed too. He's great for beginners. I usually used him most of the game. Level Available: The whole game Default weapons: Assault Rifle, Pistol The manual's description of RRF: Using advanced skills, tactical acumen and firepower, the RRF was set up to insure Vekta's first line of defense remains the ultimate deterrent to potention aggressors. RRF members possess a good mix of skills and attributes, but it is in the area of leadership that their true value is found - their motivation and aptitude form a focal point for ISA resistance forces that allow even small outnumbered squads to come out on top in general combat situations. Shadow Marshal Luger -------------------- Part of the force: Shadow Marshalls Description: A lightly armed, lightly armored speedster that flys around killing people with her knife. She can be easily killed though, so remain cautious. She's the only on who can use the heat vision which helps you see enemies. She's best in the hands of advanced players. Level available: after level 2 Default weapons: A silenced Sub-Machine gun (she's the only one who uses it), and a knife which she can instantly kill with. The manual's description of the Shadow Marshalls: The elite unit of modern day special operatives. Relying on cover, atheleticism, covert weaponry or just their bare hands, the Marshals' menacing reputation is fully deserved. More mobile than their other ISA counterparts, Shadow Marshals are able to quickly vault and climb ladders and ropes and crawl through vents; creating minimum disturbance and gaining entry to areas that would otherwise be inaccessible, or that enemies or comrades not even be aware of. Shadow Marshals are also equipped with nightvision goggles. Rico (I forgot his rank) ---- Part of the force: ISA Regulars Description: A massive, powerful, tank of a man. He carries around one of the strongest weapons in the entire game. He's also slow, but some may not be bothered by that. If there is one character you can go gung-ho with, it's this guy (though I wouldn't recommend it). I guess he's pretty much ok with all levels of player skill, though I think beginners should learn how to play with Templar before trying with this guy. He also hates Hackah. Level Available: after level 3 Default weapon: Chain Gun (800 freaking rounds! no reloading!) The manual's description of the ISA Regulars: The life blood of the ISA forces, these soldiers can harness their natural aggression during combat and utilise their heavy weapons training to devestating effect. With a high resistance to incoming fire and enemy traps and mines that would instantly kill their slighter counterpartsm every ISA squad needs at least one soldier like this. Their powerful weaponry is also essential in the destruction of some enemy emplacements, but the added weight hinders movement manoeuverability, leaving these human bulldozers with no option but to take the most direct route. Colonel Hakha ------------- Part of the force: Field Operatives Description: He's kind of like Templar's counterpart. I haven't played much with him but for some reason I couldn't stay alive. He has a bit more armor than Luger but less speed, so he's a little more pointed to the speedster part of the abilities. Level Available: After level 4 Default Weapon: Helghan Assault rifle, Helghan pistol (I think) The manual's description of the Field Operatives: This squad of undercover agents rely on nerv and diplomacy and can often equal the different between success and failure. Whilst they recieve standard weapon and tactical training, operatives most also maintain a high level of physical fitness, allowing them to vault, climb, etc, in the field. One special Field Operative division is made up of Human/Helghast half-breeds; these soldiers can bypass Helghast sensors, mines and senty bots without detection. They are also expierienced operators of both Human and Helghast machinery and equipment. ::::::::::::::: Plot Characters ::::::::::::::: General Vaughton ---------------- Commander of the forces on Vekta. After the SD platforms fail, he tries to get Templar to find the security to return to him so he can repair the platforms, but things go awry. He also sends Templar to find Hackah and bring him back with his information. Captain Templar is his favorite Captain and constantly calls on him for missions. General Adams ------------- Commands the SD platforms which fail. He's very angry, always yelling at the man who is supposed to fix the platforms but can't without the security. His loyalty to the ISA is...questionable. Watch out for him. Private Sanchez --------------- You only see him a few times during the game, but he's quite a help so I thought I'd go ahead and add him. He's just a regular soldier that helps out Templar in the first level and he also controls the tutorial. He also helps one other time, later in the game but you'll have to find out for yourself how (or just cheat and look down in the walkthrough). General Lente ------------- Leader of the Third Helghan Army. He's in the video before the main menu pops up. You only actually meet him once in the game, and that doesn't turn out well. :::::::::::::::: Enemy Characters :::::::::::::::: Regular Helghast Soldier ------------------------ The most common enemy in the entire game. They have a metal helmet on and they have oxygen masks and oxygen pipes. Their outfits are darkly colored and the guys of their masks are a deep freaky looking orange. They carry Helghast Assault rifles. They aren't too strong; they're only the grunts of the army so of course they don't present much of a challenge so don't worry about them. A few have sniper rifles that are pretty dangerous. If you run into a squad of them you might want to be cautious. Helghast Elite -------------- They're the bald Helghast that carry the light machine guns. They're a bit stronger than the Regular Helghast Soldier but not much more powerful. A few head shot will take them down pretty easy. The light machine guns can be a bit of a problem due to the high clip capaticy and high rate of fire. If they die and you have a crappy weapon you don't want anymore go ahead and pick it up. A weaker version of Helghast Elite (I didn't know what to call it) ---------------------------------- These guys are freaking easy to kill. They're just a bit more powerful than the regular Helghast Soldier. They also carry the same assault rifle. Don't even worry about them, they'll barely present a challenge. Helghast Officer ---------------- The Officer takes a few shots to take down but they don't carry much firepower. They only carry the Helghast pistol. You'll be able to tell which ones are the officers due to the fact that they'll be firing pistols at you and they'll be wearing a uniform similar to the old Nazi one. Helghast Super Elite -------------------- They're the second hardest in the game to kill. They carry anything from the grenade launcher to the assault rifle to the light machine gun. Their armor is mad out of metal so it will take a nice bit of shots before they're finally taken out. If you encounter a squad...well...good luck. Helghast Super Duper Elite (I'm sorry, I'm really bad with names) -------------------------- Oh...man...watch out for these guys. They carry all Helghast weapons available. They're nearly impossible to kill but lukily they only show up on the last level near the very end. I can only hope you survive if you encounter a group. They might kill you with frags if you hide behind something but if you go out in the open they'll kill you then with normal guns. Sentry Robots ------------- Just regular ol' robots. Only take a few hits to kill. They shoot a pretty good rate of fire, though. You don't encounter many of these throughout the game. :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: SECTION 8: WALKTHROUGH :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: :::::::::::::::: Helghast Assault :::::::::::::::: Part 1 The game starts out with Templar and crew being attack in a trench. The comms are out to they have problems communicating and are cut off. Pvt. Sanchez slides down and explains there's a minefield that will hold the Helghast so they can retreat. Then he says that he can help lead the retreat group. The game starts there. Defend the Foxhole ------------------ You start off in the trench with something on the top explaing all the buttons (it doesn't just use the default control, it goes with however you set it). Sanchez is helping you along. When he tells you to, watch out for guys coming towards the trench and open fire. You'll also see a tank, don't worry about it yet. When the first wave is done, crouch down and reload to prepare for the second wave. When you're done, go ahead and zoom in and look for the next wave. If you start to get shot, just duck down until your health comes back. Once the second wave is done, reload and turn a little to your right. The third wave will come from there. Sanchez will turn back and start to find a way out so you'll have to take the guys out without him. Move to the next foxhole ------------------------ Turn around and head to your left. Sanchez will be moving some barbed wire so you cane leave that area. Follow Sanchez in the trench to the next foxhole and start taking out people. Defend the second foxhole ------------------------- If you see bullets landing near you, go aheadand duck down for a second and reload if you want. Eventually, someone will saythat there are ISA survivors coming and you need to protect them. Just keepshooting people until they get near you. They will give you the assault rifle's secondary weapon. A grenade launcher type thing. Several more Helghast will come from the distance and join the ones already up front. Carefully aim one (remember they don't go straight, they drop) and take them out. If you miss, don't try again, you might need the other one. Just clean up what's left. Run to vehicle wreck for cover ------------------------------ Turn around and sprint (L3) to the vehicle. Grab the health if you need it. When your stamina meter fills up, sprint the rest of the way to the next trench. You may get a little damage from tanks but don't worry too much about it. Defend the main trench ---------------------- This part may take a little while because it's hard to kill the enemies from this distance and visibility and they often make you duck down with fire. Just zoom in and take out the guys that are firing at you. A few might get near the trench and you may have to get in some semi-close quarter combat. If they die close enough you'll get their weapon though. Retake the main trench ---------------------- Head out the door you came and take a right (you came from the left). Past the barbed wire, follow this until you come to a turn. Right around this turn is a Helghast soldier. Duck down and press the action button while near him (x) to him and kill him. If he turns around, watch out for his shotgun fire and whack him one. You'll get his gun, a Helghast assault rifle. I only use those when I need to. Turn back around and get the health near the dead ally if you need it. Past the Helghast dude, you'll see a emplaced machine gun. Press the action button near it to take control of it. Be careful not to fire your gun too much or else it will over heat it, something you don't want. It wastes precious time that you can be getting shot during. Enter the Industrial Area ------------------------- Get off the gun and head to the door opposite from the one you came into. Down this trench you'll see an ISA guy and you'll automatically pick up grenades. Do what he says and carefully throw it into the room. It will kill the enemy inside. (L1 is to throw a grenade) Be careful not to bounce the grenade back at you. Run in and take his secondary bullet. Once past that, go ahead and jump down to the next area, you don't need to cross the bridge thing since it doesn't get you anything. Go through the red doorway thing and clear the next room with a grenade, same as before. Past the door is a sharp left turn. Don't turn with haste, you may be shot down by two Helghast. I usually used my grenade launcher on my assult rife here. If they start shooting at you, just go back and shoot back at them when they start to reload. Take a sharp right up here. The guy you're with tells you to cook a grenade. Hold down the grenade button and chuck it in the room at the last second. Head past this area to find three enemies up above shooting at your guys down below. Just shoot and kill them. They won't pay any attention to you. Go up a little slop to get to the next area. A soldier will start telling you to go to the next place. Go across the wooden bridge and go to the darkened area to complete this part. Part 2 Kill the snipers ---------------- The guy at the beggining of this part will tell you that snipers are pinning them down and they need you to go up the water tower to get a sniper rifle. Move along the trench until you reach the end. Then exit. Look for a fence to your right and go through the doorway there. Connected to the red water tower is a ladder. Hit the action button near it and push the left analog stick up to move up it. As soon as you get up the ladder, there will be the rifle. Switch to your pistol and hold (o) to switch them out. Head over to the side opposite the ladder, duck down, and turn on zoom. At the end of the street there will be an opening with bullets coming down from it. Zoom in until you see the Helghast. Go ahead and try for a headshot here. If not, that's ok because it will most likely kill him anyway. One sniper down! Now, look for your men down below and don't go down that ladder. Look across the street. There will be a few enemies ambushing your men. Go ahead and get some practice with your sniper rifle. Watch out because they WILL shoot at you. A mission objective will be added that says "Enter shuttle repair bays". Don't worry about that just yet. Follow your men around the corner. Look to your left for a little area for cover or to your right for a pillar (I prefer the pillar) and sprint to it. You'll need the cover. One or more of your men will be taken down by the sniper. There are two enemies so make sure you take them both out before moving along. Sniper bullets can cause a ton of damage, so watch out. Enter the shuttle repair bays ----------------------------- When the big pipe ahead explodes, a few people from an area up above will be shooting at you. I usually don't bother with them but there are some stairs near them if you want to kill them. Or just use the sniper rifle. When you make it through the pipe, there will be three enemies down below, look for their orange eyes and fire. Head across this platform and exit out via a broken wall that's just big enough for you. Head over to the guy that's calling for you and follow him to the next area. A tank will come and start firing at some allies down below. Once the guy with the launcher dies, jump down, vault over the pipe, and switch out your sniper rifle with the launcher. Duck down and make your way to find some cover up ahead. Pop up just long enough to fire at the tank and go back down to reload. Keep doing that until it explodes. Watch out, those guns can cause a heap of damage. A buttload of Helghast well come from around the corner. Go ahead and use the rocket launcher to kill them. Turn to your right after they're dead and go through that doorway. You'll get a grenade for your assault rifle. Grab some cover while the Helghast start coming. You might want to ease out of the area slowly to get a few that are hiding. Once they are dead, look behind you to see who's calling your name and go down the street to them. Part 3 Reach the ISA HQ ---------------- The level starts off with an ISA soldier that you need to use the building to cross over to the next area. When a guy yells "Incoming jet bike" run over to a metal boxed shaped thing that you can use for cover. Just hide there until the jetbike leaves you alone. You may take a few bullets, however. If any ISA guys die, take their weapons. You might need the ammo. As the jetbike makes it's final pass (it only goes by you twice), Helghast soldiers will charge through an opening just past the box your hiding behind on the other side. If you have any grenades in your assault rifle, now is the time to use them. If not, use normal grenades. If you don't have that, switch to the Helghast assault rifle and use the shotgun feature. If you don't even have that, just shoot with your ISA assault rifle while using the metal box as cover until they're all dead and grab their guns and ammo. Once they're all dead, someone will open up a new path to the stairs near the box. Go ahead and run up them (don't worry, there aren't any enemies up there yet). Switch out your rocket launcher for the sniper rifle and ammo. Trust me, you'll need it. Switch back to your ISA assault rifle. A Helghast will come up the left path on the bridge. If you don't feel like killing them let your partners do it. Other wise, just shoot them. Slowly make your way down whichever path you choose, right or left. They both lead to the same place. A Helghast may come down the stairs and shoot at you. Shoot through the stairs and kill them. Slowly head up the stairs that the Soldier just came up. Throw a grenade up and over the concrete thing that's blocking your view and hope you might kill someone. Three Helghast soldiers will be shooting at you from across the wide open space (opposite the stairs). One will be on a platform jutting out of the building across from you. Another one will be a little bit down and to the right hiding behind some boxes. The final one will be on the same platform as the second one, but on the right side of it. He's hiding behind a wall. Take some cover behind the Stack of metal boxes you just passed by (not the ones next to the stairs, the ones next to one of the paths you could have taken to get there). Pull out your sniper rifle and wait for them to come out of hiding. When they do, try to get the headshot and take them down with one hit. If you get a shot anywhere else in the body, they'll probably die anyway. Try to kill them before they get too many shots off. Slowly head up the stairway that you were just at. There may be a few Helghast on top ready to ambush you if you couldn't take them out with grenades. There are some boxes right next to the stairs for cover. Pull out your Helghast assault rifle and use the shotgun secondary fire for a quick kill. If they're close enough. After you have killed them, you might want to pull out your sniper rifle for a quick kill on any Helghast coming your way. Be careful when you get close to the bridge on your right. A jetbike will come and start shooting at you. He can hit you if your underneath the roof of the building near those boxes I mentioned earlier, not just near the bridge. If you're running across when he comes, just sprint to the other side to avoid his fire. Once you cross the bridge, you'll see an area similar to the one you just came from. The pathway on your right holds a few Helghast that won't shoot at you at first, but don't start shooting at them. A Helghast will come on your left and you'll have to shoot him before dealing with the other guys. Get on the right side of the boxes after you kill him. There is a Helghast shooting at you on your direct left in that blurred area. Pull out your sniper rifle and whack him one. If any come too close, blow them away with the secondary fire on your Helghast assault rifle. Head down the right, past the destoryed bridge and look for some boxes right in the middle of the next area. Two Helghast are hiding behind those. Use a grenade and flush them out. Don't get too close, the grenade might kill you or hurt you. Shoot them down if they don't die immediatly but watch out, they can get a few bullets in you before they die. Destory the Helghast Tanks (the previous objective isn't over but I'm kinda -------------------------- sick of it) Pull out a grenade, hurry down a little bit of the stairs in front of you until you see several Helghast. Throw the grenade at them but watch out, they can take your health out very quickly. You might want to throw another one if one doesn't work. You're in a very awkward position and can easily be shot. You want to make your job as easy as possible. To make matters worse, when you go back up, you'll be shot at by Helghast across in the building to your left. He's below you so you'll have to get near the edge to kill him. He's behind the right wall. Down below, there is a lot of ISA ammo near the dead ISA guy. Don't go across the bridge just yet because you'll have to go back anyway and you might be killed. Switch out your sniper rifle for the rocket launcher and look down. Two Helghast tanks will be down there and they'll start to fire at you. They can give out a ton of damage FAST. They'll each take 2-3 rockets to destory. Once destroyed, switch back to your sniper rifle and cross the bridge to the end the level. If you never destroyed the jetbike, he's back and at it again. Just ignore it. Area complete! Part 4 Report to ISA HQ ---------------- You start off inside a building. Go across the walkway until you reach the stairs and go down them. A guy will be there and he will tell you that they've been expecting you. He says he'll take you to their C.O. and to follow him. He's a bit of a faster runner unless you sprint but that isn't neccesary. Just follow in the general direction you know he's going. Anyways, he will head down the corridor and take a left. There will be a big doorway up ahead and the guy you're following will hide behind one of the little doorway edges to make sure the coast it clear. Don't worry, there won't be any Helghast...yet. Follow him down the street and into what looks to be the ruins of a building. The C.O. is there. Don't worry, there aren't any Helghast...yet. Defend the HQ perimeter (once again, the previous objective isn't over) ----------------------- The Sarge will start trying to explain something, but as soon as he tries to start talking, his walkie-talkie will speak up. The voice on the walkie-talkie says that Helghast armor is coming your way. Right on cue, they show up. In the corner and against the wall next to the "doorway" you just came in is some ammo and health if you need it. In the middle area of the building is an exploded ramp-looking thing that people can walk over. There is also a ramp in the final area. Head over to the third area over or the area that you just came into and get up against the wall to the left of the way you just came in. Pull out your sniper rifle. When the vehicle stops moving and starts firing at you, try to shoot and kill the soldier manning the guns. Around 5-7 guys will climb out of the vehicle and start running up the hills. Put away your rifle, you won't need it for a few minutes. Take out your assault rifle (doesn't matter which one, there is plenty of ammo for both) and start gunning them down. If any come up the small mini-ramp in the second and third areas, don't try to melee them, you might get shotgunned by their assault rifles. Instead, either throw a grenade, let your troops take care of it, or gun him down yourself (the shotgun secondary fire works wonders). Be sure to use the low walls for cover. Not a few seconds after the final man from that squad dies, another will come to take their place. Once again, use the wall for cover, snipe, etc, etc. The only difference is (I think) a few more guys. After those guys are dead, a real tank shows up. Just duck down and don't bother wasting any ammo. Someone will shout "Look, Lancer!". That means a tank from the ISA will come and get you out of this mess. Just watch the Helghast be slaughtered. Report to ISA HQ (same as before) ---------------- Over the walkie-talkie someone will shout that the Helghast have broken though one of the perimeters. Then comeone will call for you behind you. Go back out the door you came in but go towards a large doorway near you. The ISA soldier says that he's to take you to General Vaughton and to follow him. Go ahead and do so (not after refilling on ammo from the battlefield of course). Follow him on a walkway through some rubble. He says that it's clear ahead...don't believe him. You will go into a wear house with several boxes. The warehouse has many Helghast troops in it. You might have to go through the old fashioned "jump up and shoot and then duck really fast" method. You can use grenades of course but I don't know if they'll be much good. There's a dead ISA guy up past the last set of boxes but he doesn't have anything. Take a left past the dead guy and a right past the boxes. The man escorting you will tell you that there's an MG (machine gun) upstairs that you can use. Head up the stairs and mount the gun. This part isn't difficult to complete due to the fact that the enemy is surrounded and you have an MG. This part doesn't need explaining. The enemy can only get a few shots on you because you're a small target since you're hiding behind a gun. Just let loose and fire but be careful not to let the gun over heat. Note: On the other side of the area and slightly to your right is the corner of the building opposite of you. The enemy likes to hide there. Once those guys are dead, unmount the MG, take look your left for a door way. Exit out of the doorway and to the outside to find a ladder at the end of the platform. Get on the ladder and slide down. Start making your way to the central area but not too fast. A dropship will come storming in holding 8 men. You have two real options here. You can attack them using only your normal weapons or you can return to your MG and not waste any ammo. These guys hide |
