This is the e-mail policy portion of this FAQ. We are going to list what we believe to be "acceptable" or "unacceptable" e-mails. Of course, it would be very wise of you to correctly e-mail us if you are hoping for a response. Also, if you have made a mistake when e-mailing us, it is very likely we will block you so that you cannot send us any more messages. So, now that you all know what will happen if you incorrectly e-mail us, you have to find out what is acceptable and what is unacceptable. Please read below. Do you have information that we have not covered in this FAQ? Well, read below. If you happen to know something in the FAQ please e-mail us. We are always interested in adding information from readers, but there are a few exceptions. If this FAQ is NOT labeled "Final" as its version, your added information may not neccessarily be used. We could possibly already know your information, but have not gotten to that section yet. So, do not guarantee that we will post your comments just because you were nice enough to e-mail us. Now, for a little more about an "acceptable" e-mail, let's talk about the subject of the e-mail. We get a lot of e-mails about other FAQs that we have written, so we can easily miss your e-mail unless you identify it. So, in the subject line, please include the words "Lord of the Rings: TT" in your subject line. This makes it a lot easier to sort things out in our e-mail. If you do not refer to what game you are commenting/asking for help on, we will most likely ignore the entire e-mail. The last aspect that we would like to talk about is reading the FAQ. If you are in doubt, check around the entire FAQ before coming to us for direct help. It is likely that information is in other parts of the FAQ, and not neccessarily the part that you are looking at during that very moment. Any comments that are already answered in this FAQ will simply be ignored and blocked, as we have taken a lot of time to write this guide for you, you can do a little something for us as well. If any of the above guidelines are not followed correctly your e-mails will be considered "unacceptable" and I am sure you know what that means. We personally think that it will be simple to follow the guidelines, and you will not have to worry very much about the process. Thanks you, again, for your cooperation. ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ |***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***| ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ 2. I love tihs game, and am experienced with Lord of the Rings, after watching the movie several times, and beating the game. Nm14 is a good friend and has helped me get motivated into FAQing once again. This project was very fun and we both worked very hard to complete it rather quickly. I hope you enojoy the guide! nm14's Introduction: My good buddy muddy_lee, new to the FAQing world, has asked me to write a FAQ with him, probably because I am good at it, and having his name next to mine is already an accomplishment. Hehe, just kidding around of course. Muddy did an excellent job with his part, keeping on schedule (just the way I like it) and doing a nice job helping you, the gamer, through this game. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers if a fun game, but rather short. However, there are many difficult parts that you will encounter throughout the game, so you should find a lot of helpful strategies within the course of this guide. He is very good with the sword, and is likely perceived as the leader of the three characters in this game. He likes to use one sword, usually heavier to kill the tougher enemies easily, such as the Uruk-Hai. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Character #2: Legolas =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Proficiency: Bows and Arrows Hair Color: Blonde Legolas is a cool character because he is really good with his bow and arrows. On top of that, he looks really cool. Legolas can also use swords, but he prefers to use two swords, one in each hand, opposed to the one sword used by Aragorn. All in all, he is a well rounded player, good for beginners. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Character #3: Gimli =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Proficiency: Axes Hair Color: Red Gimli is probably a bit tougher to play with than the other two characters, but is still a really cool dwarf. He is is usually worried and grouchy, but always brings a sense of humor along the journey. He is proficient with the axe, and never uses a bow and arrow, like the other two, throughout the entire game. ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ |***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***| ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ 4. Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli are your three options. I am going to take you through this game with Aragorn because he is probably the most popular character to choose among novice gamers. If you are playing as a different character, please do not fret. You are not going to notice any differences that will severly affect your gaming. Anyway, let us move on to the actual prologue. Isildur is who you must play as, and there is not much wrong with that because he is 10x better than any of your characters. He is in level 10, while your character must start at level 1. Various cutscenes from the movie and game will take place, eventually giving you control. This level is really easy, so you are not going to have to worry too much. Orcs will attack you from the left and right. Your allys are not going to help much, you are going to have to do the majority of the dirty work. The game will also give you a few tips in killing the Orcs, which you might find useful was you progress. However, you cannot die here, so just keep attacking and swinging your sword in the Orc's direction. Just to get the basics of the controls, I will give you a small rundown. You can press the X button to perform quick hits, but probably the least effective. The Triangle button will do a fierce attack, which basically swings your enemy to the ground, stunning him for a few seconds. Once he is down on the ground, you can press the R2 button to stab in, instantly killing the enemy. The Circle button allows your character to evade a situation, basically jumping back. Finally, the Square button is the parry move. Blocks almost all attacks that come in your way. Keeping fighting until the rating screen comes up, basically showing how many Poors, Fairs, Goods, and Perfects you achieved while in gameplay. If you are going through for the first time, you shouldn't get too discouraged by any of your results. You get more Experience for better kills, in case you were wondering. --------------------- Mission 2: Weathertop --------------------- Enemies encountered: Ringwraiths Aragorn, son of Arathorn, and descendant of Isildur is now introduced into the game. He is the only one available to be in this fight, but he's pretty good so that isn't much of a problem. Aragorn and Frodo are attacked during the night as they camp on Weathertop by Ringwraiths. The odd thing about these creatures is that they cannot be damaged by normal attacks. Instead, you must you the torch in your hand. While the torch is lit, press the triangle button to hit the Ringwraiths. They will catch fire, but it will take a few more hits to down them completely. This level is one of the easiest levels in the game to get perfect on, as there are so few enemies and attacking with the torch is considered a fierce attack which adds greatly to your skill meter. When your torch goes out, quickly run over to the campfire in the middle of the level and use a fierce attack to run the torch through the fire to light it up once again. The game starts out with Frodo's health in the upper right-hand corner, but ignore it for the first part of the battle. These Ringwraiths aren't much of a threat; they only do the occasional slash attack at you, and they make it blatantly obvious that they are about to do so. So when one of them brings its sword back to strike, you know that you must parry. However, when they do hit you it does a bit of damage and it knocks you over, which diminishes the flame on your torch. After about 5 or 7 hits, they yell out a loud and terrible scream and run away. At this part of the level, only two attack you. After dispatching them, a cutscene occures where Frodo cries for help and puts on the One Ring (genius!). The Ringwraiths immediately turn to him. He turns part white and part invisible, so you can see him running about around you. Now you must worry about his health. As long as you keep the attention focused on you instead of him, there will be no problem winning this. Notice that if you keep attacking, the Ringwraith never gets the oppurtunity to attack you. That way, you can keep pressing until he perishes without every having to put up your guard. There's but one Ringwraith in this section of the level. Kill him. In the next cutscene, Frodo will trip backwards and fall on a log. Two Ringwraiths will approach him and one will stab him. He finally takes off the Ring, though, and appears normal. I believe that, not only does he take damage from the Ringwraiths, he also is taking damage from his wound. Quickly kill the two enemies that show up here to end the level. If Frodo dies, then the level ends. The video shows a Ringwraith running away with a torch sticking in its face. Frodo is taken to Rivendale, where it is decided that Frodo will take the Ring to get it destroyed. Several people offer to join him on his quest. Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn are among them. ----------------------------- Mission 3: The Gates of Moria ----------------------------- Enemies encountered: Goblins Archers The Watcher (Boss) Finally, you can choose between all three characters. Remember, I am assuming the role or Aragorn, but the gameplay is basically the same for whoever you chose. Run down the pathway (the only one that is feasible). Gimli, being the helpful little dwarf that he is, warns you and Legolas that Orcs are coming down the path, heading straight for us! Oh well, we have the manpower to take care of those suckers. Personally, I play hack, hack, and hack some more. If you want to use arrows or parries, be my guest. I, however, like to press the Triangle button, followed by R2 stab. You will get pretty good ratings and will be able to kill your opponents pretty quickly. Note that these Orcs are pretty quick, so evading them is probably not the best idea, in case you are trying new things. Continue down the path, only to be greeted by a few stupid Orcs that were hiding in the walls. They will crash out and attack you. Take care of these suckers by hacking them. Too bad they wasted so much time hiding in those walls only to die. Anyway, continue and a cutscene will take place. Luckily Legolas is damn good with his bow, as he saves Gimli. This part gets a bit more difficult for the average gamer. Basically, your first objective is to kill the Orc shooting arrows. Parry the arrows so you do not take any damage, and move up to him and slice. Of course, you can shoot him with arrows, but your rating won't be so high. Before you cross the bridge, take out as many Orcs as you can with your bow. This will make your job easier down the road, and you won't lose as much health when you get over there. Remember, archers are your first priority, so take those suckers out first. Continue to the left and into the narrow gap. More Orcs will entertain you for a few minutes. Remember, archers are most important to kill than the others. Continue down the path until you reach the swamp. The swamp is rather annoying. You move slowly and Orcs come from out the water so you can kill them. Sorry if I am making this sound easier than it is, but they honestly need to give up sometime. Collect as much health as you can after you kill the Orcs and proceed until you reach land. Notice the Orcs hiding. You will be able to pick a few off before they can hit you if you are fast. Take out the rest of the Orcs and then get ready for the boss fight. -------------------- Boss #1: The Watcher -------------------- This boss is hard (if you don't know what to do). But, that is what I am here for. This guy is simple if you know what to do. The boss has tentacles, which are the key to this fight. It will swing various tentacles, one at a time, at you. You must parry this, by pressing Square. The tentacle will be stunned as it goes back into position. This is your chance to cause some damage. Chop off the tentacle with your sword. The Boss will reveal its head above the water. Now you are able to shoot him in the head with arrows. One will suffice, as you are not going to have the chance to hit him more than once. I often run out of arrows because I suck at aiming, so you might want to head back and look for ammo on the shoreline. I believe health is available as well, if you need it. Repeat the procedure and this guy is history. ----------------------- Mission 4: Balin's Tomb ----------------------- Enemies encountered: Goblins Shielded Goblins Mountain Troll (Boss) The video show Gimli crying over Balin's tomb. The scene then shifts to Gandalf reading a diary talking about goblins and stuff attacking them. Then orcs start to bang at the door. Legolas and Aragorn get a few with their arrows as they are coming through, but many more are on the way. This level is also spread out into three parts. The first part is regular fighting and the last two is a two part boss battle. Don't worry, nobody can die here except you. Alright, the first part of this level is mindless slaughter of tons of goblins, shielded and unshielded. Isildur's Swift Terror is useful here in destroying enemy shields and knocking them over, which is a good oppurtunity for a killing blow which adds to your skill meter. Also, health potions aplenty are here, so don't worry too much about health. This fight lasts a good long time until... All of the little goblins currently there get the living crap scared out of them as this big lumbering troll staggers in. He gets hit in the shoulder by an arrow, but that doesn't stop him. He crushed Balin's tomb with his weapon before turning on you. ----------------------- Boss #2: Mountain Troll ----------------------- Part 1 As mentioned before, there are two stages to this fight. The first stage is you fighting the troll in hand-to-hand combat. You're going to have to use speed here, because you cannot defend against the troll's massive attacks. Not only that, but goblins and more goblins will still be all over you. Plus, speed attacks don't do any damage, only fierce ones. His attacks do quite a bit of damage so the safest way to live is to go in quickly for one or two attacks and perform a "jump-back" move (R2) to get out of the troll's range. Once you take out about 40% of its health, it moves into the second part of the boss fight. Part 2 Aragorn runs up on the ledge next to the fight. There are 5 pillars here, each one can take only a few hits from the troll's chain before breaking. The trick here is to get into a place where the troll is hitting the pillars, but you are hitting the troll. That position is a little to one side of the pillar a short distance away from it. From there, charge up your bow attacks (X) and fire upon the troll. Each arrow completely charged will take a good bit of health away from him.If you run low on arrows, there are ones on each end of the ledge. If you run low on health, the occasional goblin will run up for you to kill for a health potion. Keep following this strategy until the troll is finished. The level ends with the troll collapsing. Dead. ------------------- Mission 5: Amon Hen ------------------- Enemies encountered: Urak-Hai Urak-Hai Archers Lurtz (Boss) You have to kill a total of 75 Uruk-Hai in this level. Also, Frodo is in danger. You cannot let his meter go all the way down. Meet what we like to call the Uru dead. No, actually its Uruk-Hai Orcs, but they are quite hard. But tougher than those pathetic Orcs you fought in the previous two missions. This mission starts off with a neat cutscene, where Aragorn kicks the crap out of pathetic clumsy orcs. As the cutscene ends, you will have to help your party kill a group of Uruk-Hai. The best way to do this is probably to press the Triangle button, followed by R2 stab. These guys are a lot tougher than the small Orcs, so the X slash will be very ineffective at this time. Once you have killed all of the Orcs, move along the path. This next area has two main hindrances. The first contains three Uruk-Hai Orcs and one archer shooting from above. I will say it again, please kill the archer before the rest. Then, take the others down with the driving attack followed by a stab. To be honest, this combination can easily get you through this game without much problem. Anyway, move along. You will see three archers in the distance. Notice to the left and right that Uruk-Hai are lined up. As the archers scout the area, they will call for backup if they see you. Try to shoot the Uruk-Hai with your arrows. If you can kill all of them, proceed and kill the archers. If not, kill the archers than kill the rest that come out of the forest. Move on. Under the bridge, a little ways down you will find three more archers. These guys are not too tough, especially with the wall to cover you. Take all three out using your arrows and continue passed them. Once you head down the stairs you will notice an archer. Quickly take him out and then be prepared to be attacked by a few Uruk-Hai from the forest. Take them out and continue to the base of the stairway. This part is rather hard. A few archers and quite a few Uruk-Hai are in your way. If you have any special attacks, I suggest using them. If not, use the Triangle + R2 method. Take the archers out last, since they do not hurt you as much as the Uruk-Hai do in this particular scenerio. Quickly continue passed the bridge and help your buddies out. Finally, a little backup. Kill the remaining Uruk-Hai and then be prepared for a boss fight. A cutscene will first take place with Frodo escaping. Watch the remainder of the cutscene and then get ready for the boss fight. -------------- Boss #3: Lurtz -------------- Lurtz, much like the sea creature that you fought in the third mission, is only hard if you do not know what to do. Each time you face him, things get easier and easier. Lurtz is really skilled with his arrows, so that is going to be the first principle for the fight. First of all, pillars surround you, providing cover and a little help, as you will see in a moment. As Lurtz shoots his arrows at you, parry them pressing the square button, and quickly shoot a few of your arrows at him. Continue this procedure until a Uruk-Hai, just like the ones you fought in the game, appears. QUICKLY take him out and focus on Lurtz using the arrow technique. Once in a while, Lurtz will come out with his beastly sword and jump at you. When he does this, go towards a pillar. He will swing and then hit the pillar. When he is trying to get his sword out of the hard concrete, hit him with your own sword to damage him. Repeat this process a few times and he is dead. ------------------------- Mission 6: Fangorn Forest ------------------------- Enemies encountered: Archers Goblins Orcs Shielded Orcs Long Sworded Urak-Hai Trolls Merry and Pippin are kidnapped by several Urak-Hai. They are followed by the group to Fangorn Forest. However, you will be alone on this level as Legolas recommends that they should split up rather than stick together here. That way, they can find them faster. Move ahead and ignore the goblin climbing up the tree next to you. Destroy the fallen tree that gets in your way and continue to wooden thing where a few shielded orcs and unshielded goblins will break through and attack you. After slaughtering them all, continue past where the orcs and goblins attacked you through that wooden thing. As you run through, an Urak-Hai with a really long sword breaks through the top of the structure behind you. A good way to easily rid yourself of these annoying creatures is to block an attack and immediately do a two combo fierce attack to knock him over, and perform a killing move while he lays there. After he is dead, continue through to the end of this wooden structure. After destroying the log and continuing forward, a cutscene will occur where two goblins are thrown through the forest next to you. You will hear the familiar sounds of a troll here. Continue around the path and he will bust through in front of you. Do the same thing you did when you were fighting the last troll and this will be a piece of cake. Two fierce attacks and jump back. If you do it quickly enough, you can easily get a perfect here. Destroy the wooden gate to continue. There is a cutscene where some orcs are being a bully to a poor little goblin. They through him down into a pit where there is a monster, apprently, that eats him right up. While they're looking over this, kick one of them into the pit. Throughout this short battle, use the pit to your advantage and kick everyone you can in, unless you kill them normally first. On the other side of the pit is a chest with a green potion in it. Continue down the path past the pit. Get into the river, and to you right will be a few archers and an orc. Kill them and go the opposite way through the water. As when you were at the Gates of Moria, several enemies will attack you while you wade through the water. Along with that is some creepy music. Kill everything you see and go to the end of the river and through the waterfall. A short way into this cave, you will be attacked by yet another troll. Use the same technique that you've been using. Hack 'em twice and jump back. This one also throws stuff at you, so watch out for that. Get what's in the chest where the troll came from, and destroy the wooden fence that blocks your way (walk towards the screen). As you start to approach the end of the cave, several tree branches block your way, Destroy them and bats fly out from behind and another Urak-Hai with a really long sword attacks. Kill him like you did the other one. Continue down the path with water running down the middle of it and you will be ambushed by two orcs and an archer. Once they are dispatched, another orc will attack you. Kill them all, and break the log to move on. Many orcs and goblins will attack you over time, so be careful and kill them all. ----------------- Boss #4: Troll x2 ----------------- These things being the living crap out of the two goblins there. There is two ways to get to them, though. To the left is several logs and to the right is a bunch of branches and a green potion. Save that until you really need it. What I did here was a bit tricky, but I made it to where one troll was always in line with the other. Make sure only one troll is in front of you or you will be killed. That way, you only have to face one at a time and the other one can't even get to you. If you get low on health, use that green potion I mentioned earlier. Once both have fallen, get the stuff in the chest and break the branches to end the level. In the next scene, Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn come together. Legolas feels someone is there. It turns out to be Gandalf, who tells them to go to Rohan. -------------------------- Mission 7: Plains of Rohan -------------------------- Enemies encountered: Armored Urak-Hai Urak-Hai Archers Get nice and comfortable with this beginning part because you may be seeing it quite a few times. Anyway, the health bar in the top is the civilians, and as it goes down, you are closer to losing the mission. In order to stop it from going down, you must save as many people as possible. Don't worry, follow my directions carefully and you will be completely fine. So, move forward and you will find two Uruk-Hai. Gandalf is with you! Let him kill those suckers with a magical spell. Once the gates open, move through. Gandalf will harm a few of the Uruk-Hai, but this part can still be tedious. I must stress that you should kill the Uruk-Hai that are attacking the civilians...not necessarily you. This way, you can concentrate on saving your life later, which is much easier. Pick up any health available from the dead Orcs. Move into the burning house once Gandalf blows open the door. As you head through, you will notice a lot of fire. Hit the barrel so that the water ebbs much of the fire. Quickly get out your arrows and aim at the doorway. A Uruk Hai will be entering, and he can do some SERIOUS damage if you don't kill him fast. Shoot a few arrows into him and then proceed up the stairs. This part is not that hard, but must be completed quickly. Shoot arrows like mad. They will kill these guys the quickest. Kill the archer that eventually appears in the stairway as well. Move outside. Holy crap! I hate these guys. Yes, it is the Orc that swings his sword like mad. Anyway, I finally figured out how to kill this guy really easily. All you have to do is kick him into the fire. He will eventually die that way. Continue down the path. Shoot the barrel to take out the fire and then chop the hindrance. Once the path is cleared move forward and shoot arrows at the Orcs up ahead. Pass the man that runs on fire and enter the house that he came from. Kill the Uruk-Hai that you meet at the base of the stairs, and the one that comes through the door. Quickly, run outside and help Gandalf take care of the few Uruk-Hai that has created an impasse for Gandalf. Once you have taken care of these, which really is easy, you come to the hard as hell part. Lots of guys here, and that includes a crazy Orc (the one that you had to kick into the fire). First, take him out by shooting as many arrows as it takes. Then use your combos to quickly kill the remaining Uruk-Hai before the health limit is up. To be honest, you have to be skillful with your combos, and a little lucky to beat this part. If you are successul bravo! This is one of the hardest places in the game by far. You beat the mission. ----------------------- Mission 8: The Westfold ----------------------- Enemies encountered: Bomber Urak-Hai Orcs Shielded Orcs Urak-Hai Armored Urak-Hai The intro has an Urak-Hai with a bomb-type thing on his back blowing up a few soldiers near you. Despite what this introduction makes you think, this is actually one of the easier levels. It also shows Aragorn shooting an arrow at some explosives, blowing it up. Keep in mind that when enemies are near the barrels, this is what you should do, too. Blow up the barrels to get rid of the Urak-Hai that have begun to attack you. Down the path, several Urak-Hai and one orc attacks. When the barrels are in the middle of the group, shoot it to kill all of them. Aragorn should say "That should slow them". Then destroy another barrel to the right to kill the archer. You may have to kill a few left over, however. Go across the little river here and kill the orcs that ambush you. Around the corner, several Urak-Hai with bombs strapped to them attack you. Kill them from afar with your arrows so as to not get yourself hurt by the blast. Past that, many Urak-Hai will attack. A good strategy here to wait until the ones with bombs approach, and blow them up while they are near the other Urak-Hai. That will save you some trouble. However, I believe at this small area, there are infinite bomb-carrying enemies, so keep shooting them as they approach. At the gate on the other end, a cutscene will show several Urak-Hai moving explosives down the path. A few brave soldiers will try to hold them at the gate, but they are quickly overrun. When you go down the path, you'll see a rather large group of enemies. This may look difficult, but it isn't. Just shoot all the barrels and that will kill most of the enemies here. Clear up the rest of them and move to the gate. Past that, several enemies will charge towards you. Blow up the barrels when they get near them to get rid of most of them. Several Urak-Hai with bombs attack too, so watch it. Keep shooting the Urak-Hai with bombs, to create a chain reaction that will kill several of them with one shot. In the next area, it will be much like you encountered earlier with the barrels all around the place. Take care of all of those there and break the wooden thing blocking your way to the left. The cutscene will show an Urak-Hai loading up something with more barrels. Then two archers move out of hiding. Kill them and anyone else that is attacking you. While you move across this place, you will be attacked by several enemies coming from the water, archers from the other side, and the occasional bomber Urak-Hai running towards you. Just slowly make your way to the other side until you get in bow range of the stack of barrels. Shoot them to end the level. The cutscene shows a chain reaction of tons of barrels blowing up. Then your allies start to cheer. The man fighting with you says that the future of Rohan is at Helm's Deep, and every is now making there way there. ----------------------- Mission 9: Gap of Rohan ----------------------- Enemies encountered: Wargs The Overseer (Boss) This mission essentially deals with Warg Riders and nothing else. All you have to do is killa few of them and you are done! Sounds, easy...and it is. To start the mission off, you will get a little practice. Two Riders will come at you, both extremely easy to kill. You can shoot some arrows at them or you can use a Power move by pressing the triangle button. Stab them with R2 if they are not dead yet. Once you have killed both of them continue through. ------------------------------------ Boss #5: The Warg Riders of Isengard ------------------------------------ Ok...two wargs to kill. Not that bad. Just use the power attack and bam, they are both on the ground wishing they didn't mess with Big Boss (sorry, I love Metal Gear Solid, hehe.) Anyway, once you have taken care of the easy dudes, you will have to fight the main boss. This guy is much bigger and not as easy as the previous four wargs that you fought. This guy is like a broken record, spinning around and around, repeating the same thing over and over. Basically, he will run through the middle, trying to attack you. He usually goes back and forth once each. Once he completes his round, he will kick his horse up into the air. That is your time to attack. Once the horse is in the air, power attack or combo quickly. Then, get ready for more dodging/parrying. If you parry while the horse runs over you, you will not lose any health. Finally, if you are not quick enough, another warg will hop into the arena. Quickly kill it for some easy health, and continue with the process that I have just told you. Congratulations, you just beat one of the easiest missions in the entire game. Helms Deep is all that is left! ----------------------------------------- Mission 10: Helm's Deep: The Deeping Wall ----------------------------------------- Enemies encountered: Long Sworded Urak-Hai Armored Urak-Hai Orcs Shielded Goblins Shielded Orcs Catapults (non-killable) Urak-Hai Archers (non-killable) This level starts with the infamous Helm's Deep scene from the movie where an entire movie starts to attack. Then it switched to a competition between Gimli and Legolas to see who can knock down the most ladders. Look in the upper right hand corner of the screen. The red dots there are ladders that you must kick down with the o button. Then there is a picture there that changes colors as more enemies come up there. When it is blue, you're ok. Yellow is a little worse. Seriously watch out for Red. When it is red and flashing, you're almost guranteed a mission's end. To get the meter back down, kill the orcs PLUS knock down the ladders. You can't just do either one or the other or you WILL lose. The first part consists of just going around and knocking down the ladders and killing the enemies while you do so. the Orc Bane is useful for getting rid of the enemies quickly and safetly. Only get health from the containers if you really need it, as you may want to save it for the harder parts of the level. At the beginning of the level, all of the Elven archers are going to annoy you by getting in your way, but they clear out after a short time. Soon, something happens... Urak-Hai will begin to fire arrows at you. Kill everyone you can and try to keep the meter below the red while also taking out the ladders. Don't worry too much about the arrows, they do only a small amount of damage. This part of the level will last a great deal longer then the last part of the level, so be sure to hang on. Towards the end of it, Urak-Hai will start to attack as well. Then the catapults attack. Keep fighting as hard as you can but MAKE SURE you dodge the shots from them. They can kill you easily. Now you want to use all of the health in the containers around the level. Plus, the Urak-Hai with the long swords join the fray. If you have the Bane of Saruman, you are in luck. Otherwise, Just fight the best that you can. Just keep holding on until the level finally ends. In the cutscene, the tide turns in your favor. Several Elven bowman take out all of the attacking enemies with arrows. Apparently, Legolas' and Gimli's competition turn out to be a tie at 19. -------------------------------------------- Mission 11: Helms Deep #2: The Breached Wall -------------------------------------------- Enemies Encountered: Uruk-Hai with Dynamite Orcs Shielded Orcs Archers Cave Troll This missions is pretty tiring because you don't move very much, and you have to defend your castle for quite a while. But, if you stick to your usual tactics and get combos that work well with you, you should be fine here. The basic scenerio of this level is that enemies will be flocking from the top of your screen, coming down and breaking the barrier of your men. You must kill all of them, saving this section of the castle from falling. Get ready for a fun, thrilling adventure folks! For the first part of this fight, you must concentrate solely on two things. That no one is attacking the door, because your objective is to make sure nothing gets through. The other thing is that you must always be aware when the Uruk-Hai with dynamite attached to them are running towards you. So, this is how you want to approach this section. First, kill the dynamitors with a bunch of arrows. Once regular Orcs start bombarding the area, attacking the door, kill all of them quickly! If you have to, leave them and kill the Uruk Hai with dynamite because they will overlap, when you are fighting the Orcs. Then, go over and finish off those Orcs. Once the swinger Orc (the one that is like impossible to kill) comes along, you have to use serious strategy. I was really lucky, but I got behind him and pressed Triangle. He was down and I quickly stabbed the sucker. Just keep trying to get him down, or shoot a crap load of arrows to kill him. Keep clearing out the door area as well. The cave troll will appear with a bunch of other Orcs. Ignore the troll for now, and just kill the Orcs. If you have the chance, get a few hits on the troll and then go back and save the door. Repeat this, with patience, to get rid of the Orcs and the Cave Troll. Another cutscene will save you (for a brief moment, haha). A catapult is rolled in and they are going to try to knock down the door. You have to get rid of this catapult fast. First, kill the flock of Orcs with shields right in front of you AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. Please use combos, they are the only things that will save you here. Get to the archers and shoot them quickly. There are three wooden sections that you must destroy on this catapult. Each is guarded by a few men. Kill the men and then destroy the barrier. The catapult will be damaged, and you just beat the level. WOW, take a breath, drink a Mountain Dew and get ready for the craziest last level that I have ever played! --------------------------------------------- Mission 12: Helms Deep #3: Hornburg Courtyard --------------------------------------------- Enemies encountered: Armored Urak-Hai Shielded Goblins Orcs Shielded Orcs Urak-Hai Archers Long Sworded Urak-Hai Trolls This is, by far, the most difficult level in the entire game. The enemy army charges through the halls. While allies take down some of them, it is well more then they can handle. There is the door health in the corner. If it goes down to nothing, it's game over. Also, it looks more and more damaged as it gets more damage, so that'll be a clue too. Use fierce attacks and attacks like the Banes and the Wrath of Numenor to help you get perfect. Isildur's swift terror is also pretty useful here. Start slaughtering enemies like mad. Keep them away from the door at all cost. Gimli will be helping you here, but he doesn't take much of the burden. After a few minutes of mindless slaughter, a cutscene will happen. Legolas is having trouble taking out Urak-Hai in his corner. He's taking a few of them out with his bow, but there are still many coming after him. His health appears alongside the door health. Now you must leave the enemies at the gate to Gimli and go help Legolas. If he dies, it's Game Over. Go up the stairs to your right and make your way around enemies and allies to come to Legolas' aid. Kill everyone around him until his health bar disappears from the corner. Now make your way back to the door, avoiding enemies and catapult attacks. In a cutscene, Gimli is killing many of the Urak-Hai. However, two make their way past him to attack the door. Hurry and eliminate these two and go back to start helping Gimli fight off these Urak-Hai. After a short time, someone will cry out about archers attacking. Go back up the stairs and take care of all of them with your bow. Afterwards, go back down to the door and take care of the Urak-Hai with the long swords. Soon, two trolls attack. Take them out just like you have every other time. A cutscene will happen where one of the trolls will fall over and break open the door. Archers, however, will kill the enemies who are attacking. Then Gandalf will come with his troops to help in the fight. They kick butt and the battle will be won. Gandalf tells Aragorn that he is afraid of him. Congratulations, you have completed the main part of the game! Now you can fight in the Tower of Orthanc. ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ |***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***|~~+~~|***| ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ ŻŻŻŻŻ ŻŻŻ 5.
