Fight against Cut Man:
Press Left, Circle, Up, Triangle, Down, X, Right, Square, L1, R1, L2, R2 when "Press Start" appears at the title screen. Start a new game under the normal or hard difficulty setting. Cut Man will be your opponent at the end of Optic Sunflower's stage.

Sigma Blade:
Press L3(2), R3, L3(2), R3, L3(2), R3, L3(2), R3 when "Press Start" appears at the title screen. Start a new game under the normal or hard difficulty setting. The Sigma Blade can now be purchased at the development shop.

Play as Alia:
Press Down, R1, Up, L1, Square, X, Triangle, Circle when "Press Start" appears at the title screen. Start a new game under the normal or hard difficulty setting. Alia can now be purchased at the development shop.

Play as Black Zero:
Press L1(2), R1(2), L1(4) when "Press Start" appears at the title screen. Start a new game under the normal or hard difficulty setting. Black Zero can now be purchased at the development shop.


Play as Layer:
Press Square(2), Right, X, R1 when "Press Start" appears at the title screen. Start a new game under the normal or hard difficulty setting. Layer can now be purchased at the development shop.

Play as Palette:
Press R1, X, Left, Square(2) when "Press Start" appears at the title screen. Start a new game under the normal or hard difficulty setting. Palette can now be purchased at the development shop.


Play as Ultimate Armor X:
Press Left(3), Right(3), Left(4), Right(4) when "Press Start" appears at the title screen. Start a new game under the normal or hard difficulty setting. Ultimate Armor X can now be purchased at the development shop.


Play as White Axl:
Press L2(3), R2(3), L2(3), R2 when "Press Start" appears at the title screen. Start a new game under the normal or hard difficulty setting. White Axl can now be purchased at the development shop.


Bonus characters:
Successfully complete the game and load your cleared saved file. The navigator used most to complete the levels will be unlocked (Alia, Layer, or Palette). Alia is similar to X with an X-buster, but cannot use armor pieces. Layer is similar to Zero with a Z-saber. Palette is similar to Axl, but has no DNA-copy abilities.

Alternate ending sequence:
The character that kills... 

Noah Valley:  First, the first water fall you see, go right in front
and use zero`s upward freeze thingy then second jump and there is a rare
metal on the ledge. Second, I'm not sure of the exact location, but
there is a rock above you that stands out like a sore thumb. once you
have head part I, use mega man and jump into the rock above. it  will
shatter. There is a rare metal there.
Booster Forest: Use axl and copy the little
rolling thingy and save it till a little later.once yur at the first
place with the panels, drop to the bottom and have axl turn into the
roller thing.he rolls into a tiny hole and  tada, another rare metal.
Troia Base:Beat troia base twice while
staying on the hardest mode in the training things.You MUST NOT ever go
down a level or you do not get the metals.You can do this twice only
after you do it twice,you just get some  metal(like 700 or so).

The following is the recommended order of Boss to take on based on weapon weaknesses. Note: Vile is weak against Yeti's ice weapon.

Unlockable Items
Axl's White Armor:
Beat the game and have all of Axl's metals, then beat the last boss with a double attack using Axl.

Zero's Black Armor:
Successfully beat the game and have all Zero's metals purchased.

Zero's Sigma-Blade:
Successfully beat the game and use the cleared save and the Sigma-Blade can be bought at the lab.
X's Ultimate Armor:
Successfully beat the game with all of X's metals and all 8 pieces of armor.

Endings:
To see one of the three different endings get the final hit on the boss with Axl, X, or Zero.

I don't know if this is more of a glitch or a cheat, but it makes it easy to get your metal count raised to the max almost instantaneously.

Start by getting one of the Life Tank Rare Metals in either the Optic Sunflower or Dark Mantis' stage.

Buy a bunch of items until your metal count is below the cost of a Life Charge (this is less than 50 without the metal discount item). Once you're below that amount, buy a life charge. Your metal count will go to 0. Now enter any stage, and pick up any metal. Your metal count will start rapidly increasing. Now pause the game, and your metal count will be completely maxed out.

Start the game with a Mega Man X: Command Mission saved game file on your memory card. Immediately before you fight Sunflower, you navigator will say something about a signal marked "CM". A portal will open, and you can fight Cutman. He can be killed with a charged Buster Shot.
