A - There are various ways to acquire new weaponry, some examples include killing or incapacitating a soldier wielding a weapon or calling in a supply drop from the Merchant of Menace etc. 2. Q - How do I go about getting a vehicle? A - Roam around until you locate one, then hijack it at will. You may also purchase certain vehicles from the Merchant of Menace website. 3. Q - Can I kill any soldier/civilian in this game. A - Yes. 4. Q - What penalties are there for killing the different soldiers? A - When you kill a soldier your relation to the soldiers faction is decreased. A very low faction bar results in a hostile relation to that faction. 5. Q - What is Collateral Damage? A - Collateral Damage is when civilians die due to the crossfires of a battle when the civilian was not an intended target. 6. Q - How many weapons can I hold at one time? A - You can possess two main weapons at any given time which are holstered on your back, not counting grenades and various support items. 7. Q - Can I have both weapons holstered and then use my fists? A - No you cannot, although both weapons will be holstered when you choose to use a support item. 8. Q - Can I recruit soldiers and create my own faction? A - No, but you can get in a vehicle and honk the horn (O button) and nearby friendly soldiers will get in the vehicle as long there are open seats. 9. Q - Can I kill myself? A - Yes, there are many ways to, but I do not see any viable reason for this besides wanting to retry a mission or respawning after getting stuck in a glitch. 10. Q - Can I save vehicles in a type of garage? A - As far as I know, No. 11. Q - Can I store acquired weapons in some sort of showroom for future use? A - No, although I see no need for this when there is the convenient Merchant of Menace at our fingertips. 12. Q - What is this Merchant of Menace? A - The Merchant of Menace is the Black Market in the game run by the Russian Mafia. You can order in vehicles, supplies, and air strikes to be delivered to your current location. Access the shop through your PDA or by pressing the right directional button. 13. Q - If I unwillingly kill a soldier, does it count as a negative to the faction the soldier represents? A - As long as a soldier dies because of your direct fire, or area of effect damage caused by your weapons it will count as a negative to the respective faction. There are some exceptions. 14. Q - Are there explosive barrels? A - Yes, there are yellow barrels scattered across the map. Shoot at it to cause incendiary damage to the surrounding area damaging nearby vehicles and infantry. There are also bigger yellow containers which are flammable just the same. 15. Q - Can I approach my objective covertly? A - Yes, two weapons allow you to sneak around with power which are the Covert SMG and Sniper Rifle and you can also disguise yourself as part of another faction by commandeering one of the respective factions vehicles. 16. Q - Can I mix and match passengers? A - Yes, you can have passengers of different factions in your vehicle at once. 17. Q - What is Action Hijacking? A - Action Hijacking is when you hijack certain vehicles thats already being driven/piloted and are ready for combat such as tanks and helicopters. Your mercenary will perform a quick attack maneuver to rid the vehicle of its driver and then take control. These certain vehicles are usually helicopters, tanks, etc. You cannot action hijack a vehicle until you finish off any secondary gunners that may be in the vehicle. To action hijack a helicopter, it must be low enough to the point where you see it kicking up dust. 18. Q - How can I make bailing out of choppers safer. A - Bailing is not such a good choice in this game since we don't have a parachute. When you bail from really high up, you will probably die when you hit the ground and if you bail and survive the fall, it is very likely the chopper will fall on or near you killing you anyway. What seems to work better is to just stay in the chopper and slam it into the ground and there will be a chance that your merc will not get damaged much if at all. 19. Q - How can I get my question in the FAQ section? A - As long your question is connected to information in this guide, I will add it in here. Check the "Contact Information" section on how to contact me. No joke questions please. -------------- II. Find out what kind of resistance there will be, its good to go in prepared. - You can use the binoculars to get an ID on your target. You can wield two main weapons, have up to 12 grenades in all (6 Fragmentation grenades, 6 Stun Grenades) and have a menu of support items you allocate through various places such as the Merchant of Menace. C4 explosives are one of the main support items you have access to during much of the game. Choose your gear carefully, it may mean a life or death situation on the battlefield. ____ /Note\ ------------------------------------------------------------------- - All of the weapons will eventually be available from the Merchant of Menace shop. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ___ /Tip\ -------------------------------------------------------------------- - Supply crates are located all across the map. Granted the chopper will be slightly damaged from the shot and the fall, but it still flies. Clip Size - 5 Total Round Capacity - 15 Useful Against: Infantry/Light Armor ---------( 3. )---------- --( Anti-Tank Missile )-- ------------------------- Info - The name says it all. Vehicles ----------- There are many vehicles in Mercenaries ranging from civilian automobiles to heavy assault helicopters. You can hijack any vehicle and aircraft in this game excluding airplanes. Each vehicle is unique in some way, whether it be because of its shape, armor, weapons etc. All vehicles are at your disposal whenever you want as long as you can find them. The Merchant of Menace shop in the game provides you with access to certain vehicles (29 vehicles to be exact) whenever you want as long you are near an open, flat surface and have enough funds. _____ /Notes\ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- - If you have information on the location of a vehicle, feel free to contact me so I can include it in the guide crediting you. - You will see numerical information within arrow brackets <> This is the ammunition capacity for the respective weapon on the vehicle. A plain number (example: 300) usually means that weapon has continuous fire. A number separated by a forward slash means that weapon has a clip size and a total round capacity (example: 10/30 = Clip Size/Total Capacity). - When you bring a vehicle to the Mafia Chop Shop, the reward you get depends on the condition of the vehicle. I will be adding the maximum reward only to the chop shop section, and you get the maximum amount if the vehicle is in perfect shape. Also the chop shop does not accept aircraft and non-mobile vehicles (artillery etc.), and they do not give a reward for bringing them Russian Mafia vehicles, so I will not be adding a chop shop section for those. - Southern Province = 1st map Northern Province = 2nd map ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ____ /Tips\ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Getting in a vehicle and waiting a certain amount of time will disguise you as part of the faction the vehicle represents, allowing you to evade them without sparking trouble. Acting suspiciously like honking your horn or committing hostile actions will remove the disguise. Officers of factions can also see through your disguise, they are indicated by special blinking red icons. Also, Officers always have a faction icon above their head even if you have faction icons turned off. - For aircraft, an easy way to get one down from the air for use is to either snipe the pilot with the anti-material sniper or shoot the pilot with another chopper, preferably a light chopper for easier mobility. - Helicopters in the game come with a winch which can be used to pick up things in the game like ammo crates, vehicles etc. To release the winch for use, press the down directional button and then descend towards your target and the magnetic hold of the winch will grab it. To release anything on the winch, press the down directional button. To retract the winch back into the helicopter, press the up directional button when there is nothing on it. - (Tip submitted by Bobjoe119900) To figure out if something damages something else, just fire at it. If the target blinks, you have caused damage. If the target does not blink, then no damage has been done. For example, I fire an Anti-Material sniper round at a Sungri Scout. It blinks, so I know I have done damage. But when I fire at a tank, it does not blink, therefore I know I have not caused damage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ========= a.
