I have not played Midnight Club II for very long, so this is isn't my favourite game and I don't know much about it, so you might want to look at the other guides for this game because they're probably better. Anyway, I'm not very good at introducing myself in FAQs, so let's just get on with the guide, OK!? I borrowed this game off a friend not too long ago and completed it. He agreed to let me borrow it until I complete this guide, quite generous of him. Anyway, all of the walkthrough is complete, and most of the guide is complete. Don't expect a lot more updates. +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 2.0 Basics/Controls ---------------------------------------------------------- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* If you want to play the game, you'll need to no the controls. The further you get in the game (which should be no problem with my FAQ...heh heh...), the more controls and special features you can use, like nitrous (boost) and weight transfer. This section will tell you how to use the basic controls. If you are not clear on how to use them, there is a much clearer version on the options menu in the game. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Button | What the button does | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------- | | ------ Left analogue stick --------- | --------- Moves your car ---------- | | ----- Right analogue stick --------- | ----- Accelerate/Decelerate ------- | | -------------- R3 ------------------ | ------------- Horn ---------------- | | -------------- L3 ------------------ | --------- Flash Lights ------------ | | -------------- R1 ------------------ | ----------- Handbrake ------------- | | -------------- R2 ------------------ | ------------- Nitro --------------- | | -------------- L1 ------------------ | -------- Weight Transfer ---------- | | -------------- L2 ------------------ | ---------- Look Behind ------------ | | ------------ Circle ---------------- | ----------- Handbrake ------------- | | ------------ Square ---------------- | ------------ Reverse -------------- | | --------------- X ------------------ | ----------- Accelerate ------------ | | ----------- Triangle --------------- | --------- Change Camera ----------- | | ----------- Up D-Pad --------------- | ------ Show full screen map ------- | | -------- Left/Right D-Pad ---------- | ---------- Change Song ------------ | | ------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Basic Controls Explained: ========================= Left Analogue Stick: Basically, when you're car is moving, the left analogue stick moves your car in the same direction you move the stick. Be careful, though, because some cars and motorcycles can easily skid out of control. Right Anaolgue Stick: The right analogue stick can move your car. Most people use X and Square to accelerate and reverse, but you can also use the right anaologue stick. If you push it up, you will accelerate, and if you push it down, you will reverse. This is quite useful if you want to move at a certain speed. R3: This beeps your horn. Doesn't really have a purpose. L3: This flashes the lights at the front of your car/bike. This button is only used to show other street racers that you want to race with them. Other than that, I can't think of any other reason why you should use this button. R1: The handbrake. Basically, if you're going really fast and you need to pull a sharp turn, press or hold this button. It will make your turn easier and your vehicle will usually skid. Be careful using this button, though, because you can sometimes spin out of control. R2: This uses your nitrous. A nitrous is just a boost, but your car can only hold so many of them (the maximum is 5). Pressing R2 will also perform a Slipstream Turbo, but look at the section below on more info on that. L1: Again, check the section below to find out more about weight transfer. L2: Holding L2 will change your camera angle so you can see what's behind you. You shouldn't use this much because you can easily crash because you can't see where you're going. This is usually used to see what the vehicles behind you are up to. Circle: The handbrake. Basically, if you're going really fast and you need to pull a sharp turn, press or hold this button. It will make your turn easier and your vehicle will usually skid. Be careful using this button, though, because you can sometimes spin out of control. Square: This slows down your vehicle, but not as fast as the handbrake. Once this has slowed down your vehicle, you will reverse. X: This accelerates your vehicle. Obviously, the longer you hold it, the faster your car goes because no car gets to its top speed straight away. Never take your thumb off this button unless you really need to stop straight away. Traingle: All this does is change your camera angle/view. If you don't like the default camera angle for some reason, you can change it to first person view or other angles. You might want to play about with this button at first to get used to the different camera angles so you know what one you like best. Up D-Pad: Pressing this will show you the whole map of the city you are racing in. It will take up your whole screen though, so only use it briefly or you'll crash, unless you can see through the map outline. Left/right D-Pad: This will change the song you are listening to. All three of the cities have about 10 different tracks. Los Angeles tends to have more rap/hip hop music, Paris has some dance/club music, and Tokyo has more Techno music. I'm not sure if you'll like much of the songs but oh well. +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 3.0 Unlocked Controls -------------------------------------------------------- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* As you proceed during the game, you will be told that you unlocked something other than a car. The things that you unlock during the game should improve your driving skills. I'm writing this little section to tell you how to use these controls properly, and where to find your special driving skills. NOTE: Nearly all of the unlocked controls are unlocked in LA. Just so you know and I don't get any stupid Emails. =---------= + Nitrous + =---------= I wouldn't usually call this an extra maneuver, because you unlock it just by beating the first race. Anyway, your nitrous is just a boost. Pressing R2 will turn on your nitrous. Two blue flames of fire should appear at the back of your car, giving you an extra boost. However, you only have a limited amount of nitrous'. At the early stages of the game, you only have one nitrous per race. But, you can earn a maximum of five boosts, but only at the very latter stages of the game that is. =---------= + Burnout + =---------= At the start of any race or whenever your car is still, hold down the handbrake and the accelerator at the same time. Your wheels will produce smoke and the meter on the right of the screen will fill up. Release the handbrake and your car/bike will get an extra boost. Once you have unlocked this trick, always do a burnout whenever your car is still. It helps a lot and it will get you out of tight situations. =-----------------= + In-air controls + =-----------------= When you drive up a ramp and your car is in the air, hold down the L1 button and move the left stick in the direction you want the car to land. In-air controls are best used when you hit a ramp from a slightly different angle and you lose control in the air. This should also make landing a lot easier. =-------------------= + Slip-stream Turbo + =-------------------= When you are behind a car, the metre on the right of the screen will fill up. When it is full, press the R2 button to get an extra boost without losing a Nitrous. Pretty cool, eh. Use this quite often as it is a very helpful trick. =-------------------= + Two Wheel Driving + =-------------------= When you are driving on the road and you want to squeeze through a tight space, hold down the L1 button and move the left stick in the direction you want your car to go on two wheels. It looks cool and it is quite hard to pull off so don't try too hard to use it in races. I would just use it for show. +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 4.0 Tips in Racing ----------------------------------------------------------- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* This section is basically just a few tips on how to complete this game as soon as possible and lower frustration to the minimum level. Midnight club II is by far the best street racing game I have ever played but however, it can make you so angry at sometimes, (especially during Tokyo in career mode) it's the sort of thing that makes you want to smash your PS2 into the ground and bury it somewhere where nobody will find it. I'm here to make sure you don't do that and to make you the best illegal street racer in the world. Always do a burnout before the race actually starts, and if you are facing in the wrong direction, just position yourself to where you want to go by pressing left or right (Donut) whilst holding down X + R1, and you'll blast off like a rocket. And if you take a massive hit and you are not moving, do a burnout or a donut to get back to your normal speed and catch up with the other racers. Whenever you need to squeeze through tight spaces, go on two wheels as you're driving. Try not to flip over on the roof of the car, though, because that will lose precious seconds and it may lose you the race. When you are racing against motorbikes, try and knock them off their bike to get in front of them easily. Bikes are faster than cars so if you cheat and knock them off their bikes, you can easily get in front. This tip is always a good way to win a race. Whenever you're behind someone, hit their back wheel to make them skid and turn around, so that they're facing in the wrong direction, allowing you to quickly get in front of them and hopefully win the race, if done correctly. Note: When you ram there back wheel, (either side) the person you hit will usually come back for revenge and do just what you did to them. An easy way to avoid this is to find a pole, a wall or a tree that doesn't break when you drive into it, and just as the driver is coming up behind you, drive up to one of the objects that I mentioned before and quickly turn away from the object, making the other racer crash into it. This is also a good way to get rid of the police. If you only have one nitrous, save it until the end of the race. If you have more than one nitrous, use it just before a huge jump or ramp to get a little extra speed. Don't do this on every level, though, because you might need to use a nitreous or two when you're WAY behind from the other racers. Whenever you're on your bike, do a wheelie (L1 + down) to pick up a lot of speed. By doing this you have a much greater advantage over cars because it's like an extra nitrous, only you can do it whenever you want to. I would advise you to not to do a wheelie when you are about to turn; it might cause you to crash. Another trick with your motorbike is the weight transfer. Holding L1 will make your character duck down allowing you to turn easier and go a little bit faster. Usually when you are just about to race up a long ramp, you might lose your balance while you are in the air. Hold down L1 when you're in the air and the direction (left, right, up or down) you would like to land in. If you do this correctly, you should save a lot of time and speed. If you are stuck on a race and you don't know what car to use, exit to front end on the pause menu and then look at your cars. Press square to see the car statistics and what cars are best at what. +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 5.0 Walkthrough -------------------------------------------------------------- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Career mode is basically the main part of the game. It lets you race other people around the city and win their cars. Career mode lets you complete most of the game; the other part in the game is earned in the arcade mode. The further you get in the game, the better the cars you get. Races gradually get harder the more you play the game, the more you play the game the more fun it should get. Slowly you will gain a reputation around the world and soon be champion of the world. You may think it but there is no disadvantage with what car you have to what car you are racing. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+- 5.1 Los Angeles -+-+-+-+-+-+-+- There are three cities in the game, L.A, Paris and Tokyo. Out of the three, I would say L.A is the worst, least Fun City in the game, and it's the easiest too. It hardly has any short-cuts, and there's really only just one huge freeway that runs around the whole city. But there's one thing that I really like about L.A and it's the Dam. You can do some heavy jumps in it. It is used in most of the races in L.A. =-=-=-=-=-=-= 5.1a) Moses =-=-=-=-=-=-= Moses is one of the main characters in L.A, he is the first person you race and he sets you up with other racers around town. When you start the game, you are told to flash your lights at Moses (L3) and follow him to the race point. ============ Initiation ============ This is the first race of the game; of course it's going to be easy. You don't really need directions; it's just a straight road with minor curves. Try and beat 1.00 without cheats. ===================== Welcome to the club ===================== This just one of the many proper races that you'll have in the game, you shouldn't find it to hard to beat. Go around the police car and turn right at the first checkpoint. Try and over-take Moses here and race up the stairs. You should land on the highway, when you do land on the highway, turn left. Just clear the next few checkpoints without hassle. When the last checkpoint is on your mini-map, instead of turning left then right, go through the narrow alley to find that the final checkpoint is on your left. You have won the Citi. You now have the Nitrous, which is an extra boost when you press R2. =-=-=-=-=-=-=- 5.1b) Steven =-=-=-=-=-=-=- ============== Takeoff time ============== This isn't really a race, you have a time limit, and every time you clear a point, you get time added on to get the next checkpoint. Head straight to the first checkpoint; go through the gates for the next one. You should easily be able to find the next two checkpoints without directions. =============== Triple threat =============== This is the first race that you have where can collect the checkpoints in any order. I'm going to give you the easiest route to take, you might find another route but mine is quicker. Go straight ahead to the first one, turns right and the rest of the checkpoints are easy to find. If you don't understand my route, just follow Steven to the end the first time round, then just do the same route as Steven but faster. You win the Emu. =-=-=-=-=-=-= 5.1c) Maria =-=-=-=-=-=-= After you follow Maria, it will tell you that you have unlocked in-air controls. The best car to use for the next two races is the Citi. =============== Freeway rally =============== Most of this race is on the highway, so watch out for the traffic. Cut through the grass and dodge the trees. You have to jump off of where you are now and onto the highway, stay with the other racers and dodge the traffic. There is a police helicopter shining a light on the highway, try not to get caught in the light, sometimes police cars come and catch you if you stay in the light for too long. There is one point where a massive lorry turns in front of you, chill don't panic, just go in-between the wheels and find yourself in front (Most of the other cars crash here). Just go through the next few checkpoints the next and last time you get off of the highway, there is one sharp turn. =============== Corner cutter =============== This race is just you and Maria. Every time you clear a point, you get time added on for the next one. It's just like Steven's first race only this time your racing someone. Just smoothly complete this one by just making a few sharp turns. Nothing to look out for apart the police road block towards the end of the race and keep your balance when you jump off the grass at the end of the race. You win the Torrida =-=-=-=-=-=-= 5.1d) Angel =-=-=-=-=-=-= The Torrida is the best car to use for the next three races ==================== Hollywood Hysteria ==================== I only have one route to win this race, there are others but I personally think my route is best but you might think differently. Start facing the right and then make a right at every checkpoint until you are at the snake road. This is when it gets tricky. You have to make the second right and then left at the checkpoint and make your way back to the snake road, try and stay with the other cars. Now follow the other cars until you are on the really straight road, here's where you use your nitrous. You have unlocked the burnout. ====== Drag ====== On this one you are racing Angel's Dad. Do a burnout; avoid the bus and then jump off of the road. The checkpoints are basically just on the LA river. Watch out for the two ramps, hit the one on the right and keep a good balance in the air, you'll need it. The next two checkpoints are on the slanted wall on the left, stay on the wall until you get the second one. Gets back on the floor and use your Nitrous. The next checkpoint is straight ahead. Once you've collected it jump the wall on your right. If you have enough speed, jump over the buildings, and if you're in front of him by far then slow down at the last blue checkpoint and get on the road to find yourself at home. You win the 1971 Bestia ==================== Cheaters never win ==================== In this race, if you fall behind, you'll probably catch up again, so don't restart the race. Make the first left and hit the back of Angel's car, now turn right across the bridge, left and then another left across the bridge. Now, there are different ways to go from here. I'm going to tell you two ways. 1) You can turn right when you get off of the bridge and make the first left. 2) This is a short cut that I found when I crashed into a car. Anyway, If you turn right once you're off the bridge again, there is a very narrow alley on the left. Slow down if you don't know where it is. Try the race a few times and know where it is, turn right out of the alley, trust me it's quicker. Now, clear the next point and head across the long and straight road. Now, before this checkpoint, do a 180 degrees turn so that the back of your car hits the point. Do a burnout, and avoid the truck, left, right or under to avoid the truck. Use your nitrous and smash through the glass and slightly to the right is the next checkpoint, now go towards the road on the left at top speed. Turn right once you're on the road to get the next one. Take the second right, and then take the first left. Smash through the fence on your right and go under the building-site and turn right. You win the Interna =-=-=-=-=-=- 5.1d) Gina =-=-=-=-=-=- =================== Unexpected Guests =================== You should take the lead early on if you do a burnout. Take the obvious turns at the first three checkpoints. Head straight for the next one, now there are a set of stairs on your left. Jump them and head for the next checkpoint. Keep going straight until you can see the next checkpoint inside a car park, get the checkpoint and quickly escape the car park on your right. The rest is simple, find your way to the end and just follow your nose. It should be a lot easier doing it yourself than following my directions. ========== Showdown ========== This is your the first race that includes motorcycles so, a little tip: knock anyone who is in front of you off their bikes! This race is quite short, so you won't need directions for it, but, when you're on the bit where you have to left, right, left, right etc. Start going left first and do not crash. When you are back on the main road, boost when the orange checkpoint is on your map. You win the Cohete ================= Weight Training ================= This isn't actually a race; it's just for you to get used to a bike. Just head to the checkpoint on the other side of the city doing wheelies and stuff. If you don't complete this on your first try, you'll have a problem completing the next race. ====================== Flight to the Finish ====================== Traffic is high in this race, so I would use the Cohete. Get onto the highway, if you are behind, does a wheelie. Once you've collected the third checkpoint, you have to turn right, it's a sharp turn so hold down L1. Now you should be on the airport road that goes round in circles. Watch out for turning vehicles, especially limos and buses. Once you clear the airport bit, turn right; watch out for the cops. Turn left at the next point and go through the parking lot. Turn left once you're out of the parking lot to get the next checkpoint. Continue going straight to get the next two. The next one is on the grass, use L1 to turn here. Follow the road to the next one and brake through the fence into the construction site and jump the ramp. You win the Citi Turbo =-=-=-=-=-=-=- 5.1e) Hector =-=-=-=-=-=-=- =============== Lose the Cops =============== This one is so easy, I completed it on my first try. It's not actually a race; you just have to lose the cops. Head towards the checkpoint and go down any alleyway or jump any ramps you can find. When you've lost the cops, quickly make your way to the next race. ============= Block Party ============= This is another race where you can collect the checkpoints in any order. Start by going in the direction you're facing in (follow the pack) and take a left across the bridge. The first checkpoint is right in front of you, get it and turn right, now turn left. Turn at the second right and there should be two checkpoints in front of you, turn right at the second one to get the next one. Don't turn left now, keep going straight and collect the next three checkpoints - on the right - in any order. Now, make your way to the last four checkpoints and collect them so that the one you get last is nearest to the last one. (If that makes sense. Think about it) You unlocked the Slipstream Turbo. ===================== Slipstream Chicanes ===================== This one is too easy, and if you win it, you get to race the champ. I'm to lazy to give you street racers directions that you don't really need, so I'm just gonna give you one little shortcut. Once you've cleared the last blue checkpoint, cross the small bridge and just to your left is a brown and rusty fence. Smash through it and go up the ramp at top speed and you should land on some rooftops. Keep going straight to find your self with the Monstruo. You win the Monstruo =-=-=-=-=-=- 3.1f) Dice =-=-=-=-=-=- This guy is on the front cover of the game, I don't know if that means anything, but I thought I'd just like to say. He is also the champion of Los Angeles and he'll give you the two toughest races so far in career mode. =========== Crossover =========== This race takes quite long to start, so keep on your mark; the game has not frozen. If you get a very good start, stay at the front of the pack, but if you get a bad start, stay at the back because nearly all of the racers crash when you turn right. Get the first checkpoint and turn left, try and use the Slipstream Turbo if you get the chance. Turn left and clear the next two checkpoints, now you have to go in and out of the trees, clear all of those points and go down the hill. There is a really sharp turn coming up on your right. Make your way onto the highway and follow the checkpoints until you have to jump off of the highway onto a construction site bellow. Smash through the fence and the rest is quite simple, there are a lot of different routes here, pick the one you're familiar with, or just follow the other racers. It shouldn't be too hard if you try it a couple of times. If you fall behind, don't give up. It's a very long course so you've got a lot of time to catch up. ==================== Droppin' Knowledge ==================== The checkpoints on this race are very far apart so there are millions of different routes. I'm only going to tell you the way I think is best. I found that if you jump the steps and go down the road on your left and smash through the glass in front of you, and approach the checkpoint from the left. Now, go onto the s-type road and get the next checkpoint, avoiding the other racers. Keep going until you are under the stadium. Keep making the obvious turns and be sure to hit the jump over the Dam. You should now be on the last blue checkpoint. There is some glass slightly to the right. Smash through it and use your Nitrous. There is a huge jump ahead, hit it and you'll see huge writing telling you that you have unlocked two-wheel driving. You unlocked the Jersy XS and are now the champion of L.A -+-+-+-+- 5.2 Paris -+-+-+-+- Paris is my favourite city in the game; it's got the most shortcuts in the whole game. I really enjoy going up ramps. When I'm bored, I put on infinite Nitrous (See cheats at the bottom) and go on a little cruise around the city with the SLF45OX. =-=-=-=-=-=- 5.2a) Blog =-=-=-=-=-=- ================ Eiffel Visions ================ Blog is the very first street racer you race in Paris. He is a DJ and he makes his money everywhere around the world. He comes from East London, which is a bit annoying because that's quite near to where I live. Anyway, I just hope you can put up with his annoying voice. For the first race in Paris, this race is pretty easy. I would use the Jersy XS. When you start, try and put the Slipstream Turbo to some use and make sure that the back of your car hits the first checkpoint by doing a 180 on the grass and doing a burnout. Sometimes, it's a good time to use your Nitrous on the way back to where you started. A sharp right turn is coming up, then another one left. There aren't any major shortcuts in this race. You shouldn't be stuck on this race for very long. Use your Nitrous when the last checkpoint is in sight. If you've got loads of time at the end of the race, pop up on two wheels to zoom through the three pillars. It looks really cool, but your car might tip upside-down and you'll lose the race. But hey, you've got nothing to lose. ================= Rooftops Vistas ================= This is probably one of the most enjoyable races in the game. It was actually the first race I had a go at; I played it at my friend's house, so thanks to Frankie "Frank-master" for showing me all of the shortcuts and jumps. Start by going straight and turning right after the second bridge crossing. Now, there is a very useful shortcut, turn left the moment you get the next checkpoint through the gate. In front of you, you should see a massive red, long ramp. Speed up it and use your Nitrous to fly high up into the sky. You might land out of the course but, if you land on the wooden floor that slows you down, you're in the right place. Now, there is another useful shortcut here. As soon as you hit the next checkpoint, turn left down an alleyway. Go left up the ramp and now turn right. You should be going up an alleyway now and approaching a ramp off some rooftops. NOTE: There are a lot of neat jumps around here. When you land on the road, turn right. Follow the checkpoints to an alley that leads to another set of rooftops. When you're jumping off of the rooftops, keep to the right and make sure that you actually jump over the rooftop. Head left across river, when you get the next checkpoint, quickly take a left down another alley to save a lot of time. Once you're out of the alley turn right down the road into a big, open space next to the ramp you went up in the beginning. Head to the top left corner of the huge space into some alleyways; try not to get lost here. Once you clear the next point, go left down an alley and another left onto the road. Make a hard right into another alley that bends slightly for another little shortcut. There is another alley ahead of you just as you leave the last one. Slide down these narrow alleyways and you'll be back at that massive, open space again. Go through the checkpoint in the open space and through yet another alley. There is a tunnel coming up so, keep to the right. Race up the road that runs along the river and slow down when you go up onto a bridge on the left, otherwise, you'll lose. Head along the bridge, past the first road to the left and on your left you should see an alleyway with a bit of grass in it. Zoom out of it onto some grass, go up the little ramp slowly and head into the Cathedral. You win the Boost =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 5.2b) Jewel & Julie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ============ Twin Turbo ============ Jewel & Julie are twins who say that they are the best duel racers in the world. You're better than them, so it shouldn't be too hard to show them up. You can collect the checkpoints in any order in this race, and the checkpoints are in a loop. There are three different cars in this race, your car, (Boost recommended) Bryanston V(s) and Jersy XS(s). The Bryanston Vs start on the right, and the Jersy XSs start on the left. I would go with the Bryanston Vs. Just follow the checkpoints one-by-one. When you reach the checkpoint that connects the loop, go through the parking lot on your right to avoid the Jersy XSs coming the other way. There are roadblocks ahead, you can smash through the green ones, but the black ones are as hard as rocks. At the end you can either jump the ramp or go around it. Jump it, just for the fun of it and make sure you land properly, because this jump once lost me this race. ================ Roller Coaster ================ Try and use your Slipstream Turbo at the very start of the race, but don't go too fast or you'll miss the turning. It's a sharp right turn to your right, and then you have to make another right turn onto a straight road, try and use your Slipstream Turbo here. When everyone is turning right here, slow down, but don't turn yet. There is an alley with a bright red P on it, crash through the two fences and continue through another set of alleyways. Once you're out of the alleyways, you can either turn left and through another alleyway on your right. Or you can take the right. I would take the right and tag the shadow of the checkpoint on the grass and zoom through the alley on the right. Now you'll have to jump onto the freeway, heading left. Make a hard left into the gas station after the checkpoint on the freeway. Go up the ramp on your right and make your way back into yet another alleyway. Once you're out of the alley, there will be a massive hill of grass with steps in the middle. Jump the grass on the right side of the hill using the Nitrous. Aim to the right of the checkpoint to avoid the buildings. When you land, there should be two hills going down, go down the hill on your right. Zoom out of the hill and head under the arches and there should be a roundabout. Go to the left side of the roundabout and jump the ramp, through the glass to get the finish line. You win the Bryanston V =-=-=-=-=-=-= 5.2c) Primo =-=-=-=-=-=-= ============== Seine Insane ============== You can collect the checkpoints in any order in this race. Start by getting the two in front of you, when you get the third one-which is just ahead-turn right. Get the one in front of you and make a really sharp right turn onto the road next to the river. (underneath you) Get the one on the road and the next two are just ahead. For the next one, you have to jump the hill, when you are jumping, aim just slightly to the left to avoid the tree. Clear the next one and go under the tunnel that bends slightly. The next one is on the bend, but watch out for the other racers coming in the other direction. The next two are obvious, but after the second one, you have to turn right to get the next one. After you collect that one, get the one in front of you and make your way to the road again. You have to jump the road again now for the next three. For the next one, instead of jumping the road again, slow down and turn off the road and head in the other direction. I think you can find the last one by yourself now. Make the obvious turns and the last one is in that big open space again. ======== Swerve ======== I would use the Jersy XS for this race, because I changed the route a bit at the beginning. Do a burnout at the beginning and turn your car around, there is an alley to the left, go down it and turn right. It's easier with the Jersy XS because you can turn quicker while doing a burnout, trust me it's quicker. Go straight and brake through the small fence onto the freeway. Be aware that you have to change sides of the freeway into the gas station. Go through it and change sides again. When you get the checkpoint on the other side, you have to go in and out of the pillars of the bridge. When you have got the next one, you have to get off the freeway. Go to the right turn of the roundabout ahead and turn right at the next point. Ahead is an alleyway with a few checkpoints in it; once you're out of the alleyway, you have to get back on the freeway. Once you're on the freeway, you have to get straight back off it again. Go through another alleyway on the right once you're of the freeway. The last bit of the race is straight forwards with minor curves. The last checkpoint is on some grass. You win the Schneller V8 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 5.2d) Stephane =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ================ Roundabout Run ================ You can collect the checkpoints in any order in this race; Stephane picks the best route. Start by collecting the first three checkpoints going anti- clockwise. Once the third one is done, go down the road in front of you. Take the second left for the next three and again go anti-clockwise. Get out of that bit and take the third left, take the next right through the arches for the next two checkpoints. Keep going straight through some more arches and over a small, wooden bridge. Go through a set of alleyways slightly to the right once you've crossed the bridge. When you're out of the alleyways, turn left and collect the next three checkpoints, in an anti-clockwise order and zoom down the road ahead. The next three checkpoints are just ahead, collect them in an anti-clockwise order again and go to the road to the left if you collect them in an anti-clockwise order. The rest is simple. ================ Over and Under ================ Start by going up the hill with the rest of the group and try and use your Slipstream Turbo, keep good balance in the air. Go down the next hill and make a diagonal turn left down another hill. At the next one turn right; watch out for the police roadblock ahead, Keep going straight for the next one. You have to make a diagonal turn right and make a hard turn right underground. Clear the points easily and once you're out of their, use your Nitrous to jump the Pyramid thing and get the next checkpoint in the air. Go under the tunnel to your left and once you're out of the tunnel; slow down to get the next checkpoint to the right, and go through the alley and turn left. Make a hard left again and make your way back under the tunnel. Halfway through the tunnel, you'll come between a right and left, go right. Now go left this time. Again, Slow down as you leave the tunnel and turn left through yet another alleyway. Turn right out of the alleyway. Turn right at the next checkpoint and there will be two hills, go up the right one. The rest is too easy. The finish line is on the Freeway. You win the Alarade =-=-=-=-=-= 5.2e) Ian =-=-=-=-=-= =================== The Art of Racing =================== The beginning of this race is really hard. When you start, go on two wheels to avoid the red carriages going round in circles. The next bit's tricky, you have to go in and out of some concrete with grass on it that's as hard as rock. When you're out of there, there should be a small roundabout in front of you, go left through the arches and watch out for the buses. Go to the end of the road and turn right. Once the one in front of you is cleared, turn right down an alleyway and left out of the alley for the next point Continue to drive forwards and down a small alleyway. Turn right out of it and head for the next checkpoint. When you have cleared it, just to the right is a ramp that leads through some glass. Jump it and the next checkpoint is right in front. Get the one in the grass thing again and go straight out of it. You have to go through that huge wheel now that has red carriages, Here's where you squeeze R2 for a Nitrous. The next checkpoint is in the middle of that giant arch and you have to turn right as soon as you're out of it and down a road. Get the next couple of checkpoints and jump of them steps and don't land in the water fountain. You have to now go on that road that you went down in Primo's first race. Get off of that road with the first chance you get. You have to finish the race now with that huge pyramid jump again. ===================== Few and Far Between ===================== This race is quite hard, considering that you are racing against motorcycles. Traffic is low and the checkpoints are really far apart. I am not going to give you directions. There aren't any shortcuts really, just go on two wheels when you come across narrow arches. Use your Nitrous on the river jump and don't follow the motorcycles. You win the Fripon X ================= Monsoni Monsoon ================= You won Ian's car and now he wants to win it back on a bike. He says he's good on a bike and I'm not sure if that's true or not, just watch out. Start by knocking the other bikers of their bikes and going down the alley in front of you. Turn left out of the alley and then right. The next one is on a roundabout. Go around the roundabout anticlockwise so you clear the checkpoint from the right. Go down the road in front of you when you clear the checkpoint and turn left at the turning before the end of the road. Turn left somewhere for the next one and then turn right. Make the first right again and the next one is on another roundabout. Approach the checkpoint the same way you did on the first one. Go for the next point and turn right onto the freeway. After the first checkpoint you clear on the freeway, you have to change sides of the freeway. You have to swap sides again after the first checkpoint on the other side. Go through the gas station and clear the point just outside it. Now, get off the freeway, clear the point and turn right. The next two are straightforward. The last one is in a car park with a bright P on it like most car parks and alleyways. You win the Monsoni =-=-=-=-=-=-= 5.2f) Farid =-=-=-=-=-=-= =================== Catacomb Criminal =================== Farid is an underground street racer escaping the cops, whatever you do, don't use a bike. He is not a very good racer and his first race is easy. Once you're out of the first sewage tunnel, the next underground tunnel is just behind the pillars in front of you. Next, you are outside for about a second. Turn right as soon as you hit the checkpoint and go back inside another sewage tunnel. Pillars are in the way of the next tunnel again, but this time the tunnel is on the right. Now you are outside. (Turn left out of the tunnel.) Watch out for the Ambulance crossing the road and go straight on. Past the Ambulance take the first left and then turn right through the arches. The next checkpoint leads you underground again into another sewage tunnel. Once you're out of the tunnel, go straight through the grass and into the Cathedral. Turn right out of the Cathedral and then left. Police try and pull you over here so, try and crash them into walls. Get the checkpoint on the grass and go down the road to the right of the Cathedral. Make your first or second left, it doesn't matter and go down the alley for the next one. Go straight and use your Nitrous to jump the river and through the arches. If you're going fast enough you will jump over the arches but that's unlikely to happen. The last checkpoint is opposite the pyramid thing leading underground. =============== Lose the Cops =============== This isn't really a race; you just have to lose the cops like on Hector's first race. You have to get to the checkpoint without the cops following you there. I would suggest that you go underground whenever you get the chance. You have only got two minutes so don't take too long hiding underground. You can find cops on the mini map, there the blue arrows. You win the Stadt =========== Extortion =========== You are racing someone other than Farid. This time, you're racing against Owen. He needs something from Farid's car, but instead of arresting you, he wants to race you. Boy, he must be confident. He is probably a better racer than Farid so don't expect to beat him on your first attempt. It should take you a couple of times to beat this guy, so don't get frustrated when you lose on your first race. Start by going up the steps and through some arches, go down the grass, clear the point and go left down another hill. Turn right as soon as you can and clear the checkpoint on the grass. Turn left and then right at the roundabout. Turn left onto the freeway, clear the point and change sides of the freeway. You have to change sides again to get the next checkpoint and then turn left through the gas station. Turn right coming out of the gas station and down the alley. Turn right onto the road and then turn right again. You now have to turn left onto the freeway. Swap sides of the freeway after the first checkpoint on the freeway for the next point. Swap sides again and turn left off the freeway. A roundabout is just ahead and you have to turn right at the roundabout down an alleyway. It's quite hard to see. The next checkpoints are in a zigzag in and out of the alleyways. On the last blue checkpoint, turn right through a fence and jump the ramp. The final checkpoint is in another alleyway with some grass in it. You win the Victory =-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 5.2g) Parfait =-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Parfait is on the front cover as well as Dice and she is the Paris champ. She will give you two tough races. If you beat her you get a cool car, are champion of Paris and can now move on to race in Tokyo. ================= View From Above ================= You start behind in this race but that doesn't matter. At the start of this race you can both get on the main road, take the first right and go left through an alley that leads to a ramp. Or you can stay on the main roads. The jump is quicker but harder and the main road is slower and easier. Get the next checkpoint and turn right through another alleyway and cut through the grass on your right. (Watch out for the trees here) Get the checkpoint and turn left. Straight-ahead is an alleyway that leads to a jump over the river, gets onto the ramp but don't use your Nitrous or you'll fly off course. You should land in a little tunnel that ends in the middle of loads of alleys. Go down the one on the left. Get the checkpoint and go right up a huge red ramp. When you land, go left and on the road, go down the one in front of you. Follow this road and take the second right up a bumpy hill. Get the checkpoint and go left then right. You should be on a bending road. Jump off the hill and go through the alleyway in the top right corner. Turn left and then take a right. Follow this road and turn right, go down the alleyway in front of you and jump onto some rooftops. Now keep going through a straight red tunnel and jump over the river. The next checkpoint is on some grass, get it and brake through the underground tunnel. When you're out of the |
