An easy way to hit homeruns is to go to game tuning in the options
menu and turn contact and power to full and then do an exhibition or a
quick game and it will be alot easier to hit homeruns.

To make sure your player gets enough at-bats and playing time, make his fielding rating as high as possible. If your player is a bad fielder, he will get substituted for a defensive replacement quite frequently, especially if it is a close game in the later innings.
