Walkthrough - Scorpion FAQMortal Kombat: Deception Scorpion FAQ Version 1.0 (Final) By: Anthony Ngo 'anigz @ gamefaqs.com' 'anigz @ neoseeker.com' Date written: December 8, 2004 contact info: i_m_raven_x@hotmail.com Table of Contents: 1) Biography (Parts 1 & 2, first person perspective) 2) Why Scorpion? 3) Moves - Hapkido - Moi Fah - Mugai Ryu - Special Moves - Fatalities w/ratings 4) Combos - Hapkido - Moi Fah - Mugai Ryu - Style Branching Combos 5) Strategies 6) Credits 1) Biography Part 1: "In my haste to confront my nemesis, Quan Chi, I was ambushed by two oni and cast into a powerful soulnado. I would surely have been ripped apart by the souls trapped there had I not managed to escape into the Void. It was there that I first set eyes upon the fabled Elder Gods. I would be forever changed by this encounter." Part 2: "While in the Void, I witnessed, along with the Elder Gods, the death of Raiden and the re-emergence of the Dragon King. Suddenly aware of my presence, the Elder Gods transformed me into their servant and gave me a new purpose: to prevent the Dragon King from merging the realms." 2) Why Scorpion? He's been around forever. He's lived, been murdered, returned to life to avenge his murder, survived Hell (the Netherrealm), ressurected again to avenge his family's murder, discovers his true family/clan's murderer, and continues to pursue his vengeance. Somebody THAT persistent should be on hell of a fighter. And he lives up to that reputation without question as one of the most powerful fighters in Mortal Kombat HISTORY! 3) Moves (as seen in the move lists) Controls (Abbreviation) XBOX PS2 Up (U) D-Pad Up D-Pad Up Down (D) D-Pad Down D-Pad Down Toward (T) D-Pad Left/Right D-Pad Left/Right Back (B) D-Pad Left/Right D-Pad Left/Right Attack 1 (1) X Square Attack 2 (2) Y Triangle Attack 3 (3) A X Attack 4 (4) B Circle Change Style (CS) L. Scorpion uses the Bloody Spear to dismember his opponent, removing an arm and a leg. He then walks up to his opponent, who is begging for mercy, and without much hesitation, snaps his opponent's neck, raising his own arm in victory. anigz rates this: 5/5 Fatality 2: T,D,T,T + 1 (S) Classic MK Fatality. Scorpion throws his hand into his opponent's neck. He then pulls off his opponent's head with the spinal cord still attached. Isn't this fatality supposed to be Sub-Zero's from MK 1? anigz rates this: 5/5 (for bringing back a classic!) Hara-Kiri (Suicide): D,D,U,B + 1 Scorpion goes down on his knees, and snaps his neck. It appears to be very ceremonial. anigz rates this: 5/5 (I like ceremonies) 4) Combos - Hapkido Name Button Combination Hits/Damage Flowing Water 2,2,1 3/17% Inner Power 2,2,4 3/19% Spectre Blast 3,B + 1 3/15% Lethal Legs 4,B + 4 2/17% Liftoff 4,U + 4 2/16% Burning Soul 2,3,U + 4 4/22% Sinking Leaf T + 3, B + 3 2/16% Doom Bringer 2,3,B + 1 4/24% - Moi Fah Name Button Combination Hits/Damage Low Fury T + 3,3 2/6% Fingers of Death 1,1,1 3/14% Double Tap Kick 3,3 2/9% Pain Taps 3,3,3 3/12% Chain Kombo 1,1,3,3,3 5/18% Sharp as Hell 1,1,B + 1 3/16% Krazy Rush 1,1,4 3/16% - Mugai Ryu Name Button Combination Hits/Damage Bloodfire 2,2 2/12% Bloodbath 2,2,1 3/20% Swift Fire 2,2,4 3/20% - Style Branching Combos Abbreviations H - Start from Hapkido Style: Name Button Combination Hits/Damage H: Painless 2,2,CS,1,B + 1 5/25% H: Death Fingers 2,2,CS,1,1 5/24% H: Kruncher 2,2,CS,1,4 5/25% H: Flurry Kicks 2,2,CS,1,3,3,3 7/26% H: Hell on Earth 2,2,CS,1,3,3,CS 7/28% 5) Strategies Many players would suggest abusing the use of the Mugai Ryu because it has an insane amount of power. I don't believe that it does. Considering the 3 combos provided by the move list, the Mugai Ryu is not overly powerful at all. My suggestion would be to stick to Hapkido, because you can style branch from there for more devastating combos, or juggle with Hapkido combos. If you manage to pull of a bloody spear and connecting (easier against CPU, not against veteran players), you can use the following juggle combos: anigz Hapkido Combo #1: Bloody Spear,2,3,U + 4,U + 4,2,3,U + 4 (11/33%) anigz Hapkido Combo #2: Bloody Spear,2,3,U + 4,U + 4,2,3,B + 1 (11/33%) Scorpion was made to be a juggle crazy combo character. He was similarly juggle crazy in MK: DA. You can use the Bloody Spear to set up many combos, as has been the case for all these years of Mortal Kombat. Hellfire can be used at the end of a combo, but it's highly dangerous if it misses. Backflip kick is a powerful special move, and teleport attack is an easy surprise, and can also (you have to be VERY quick) set up the Bloody Spear. To sum it up, Hapkido is obviously more powerful than the Mugai Ryu and doesn't have it's drawbacks (weaker defense when weapon is drawn), so mastering how to juggle and combo with Hapkido is much more useful. Against Onaga: since you CAN'T juggle Onaga (imagine if you could?!?!), stick to style branching combos. As with most characters, you should probably use combos after touching a kamidogu. Teleport kick sometimes works well here as well, but if it's blocked, you're in for a Dragon Throw, a big uppercut, or the three hit Dragon Combo that Onaga uses a lot. 6) Credits Thanks to Midway for adding another great game to an overall amazing fighting game series.
