How am i supposed to get farther in chapter two?I'm waiting for the train but it wont seem to come.

After the room with the acid flow and the searchlight, How do I destroy the searchlight that keeps me from entering the room without sounding the alarm. Where is THAT ledge to which I jump on? Pray tell
