Version 1.1 (04/03/05) - Finished Imagicards and completed a portion of Chapter 3. Version 1.2 (09/03/05) - Updated the formatting. Version 1.3 (11/27/05) - Finally finished the guide. Sorry for the wait. Version 1.4 (02/28/06) - New format and ASCII, hurray! Version 1.5 (01/13/07) - Complete format overhaul. To be frank, I was disgusted by this FAQ. It looked really ugly, hence the update. Oh yeah, and I added a bestiary. ______________________________________________________________________________ 2] CONTROLS [0200] ______________________________________________________________________________ .-----------------------------.----------------------------------------------. | D-Pad | Change Target | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | Left Analog Stick | Walk, Run | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | Right Analog Stick | Move Camera | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | Start | Open/ Close Menu | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | Select | N/A | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | X Button | Jump/Talk/Carry, Confirm (Menu) | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | Square Button | Attack (Katana) | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | Triangle Button | Attack (Great Oar), Cancel (Menu) | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | O Button | Perform Selected Ability | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | R1 Button | Lock On, Cycle Forward (Menu) | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | R2 Button | View Quick Menu, View Quick Map | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | L1 Button | Defend, Cycle Menu Back (Menu) | |-----------------------------|----------------------------------------------| | L2 Button | Use Latant Power | '-----------------------------'----------------------------------------------' ______________________________________________________________________________ 3] CHARACTERS [0300] ______________________________________________________________________________ Note: Information taken from the Official Bradygames Guide ~- Musashi -~ ============================================================================== Musashi is a young aspiring samurai who arrives in Wellspring Woods with neither an understanding of where he is nor why he's here. Fortunately for the Mystics who are depending on him, he is a quick learner. Armed with his trusty katana, Musashi sets out across expansive and dangerous lands to rescue those who fled their village and also reclaim the five sacred swords. ~- Princess Mycella -~ ============================================================================== Princess Mycella is believe to possess the most magical power of all the Mystics and, as a result, is Gandrake's primary target. The people of her village care deepenly for her and hope that Musashi can defy the odds and rescue this sweet girl. Over the course of his time in Antheum, Musashi and Mycella will become good friends; she will miss him when he has to return home. ~- Burrini -~ ============================================================================== Burrini, the Maiden of the Earth, is oftenFound at Tunnbrod's Bread shop. She is a very kind person who loves nature and its creatures. A long time ago, she created a magical maze on the outskirts of Wellspring Woods calld Manglewood. She's the only person who knows her way through it, bue even she finds it too dangerous to be alone. ~- Fontina -~ ============================================================================== Of all the inhabitants in Antheum, Fontina is the only one who was reluctant to summon Musashi. She is an extremely proud scholar who would like to believe that the answer to the Mystics' problem with Gandrake is containted in a book. As the Maiden of Water, she is reluctant to help Musashi locate the Sword of Water. ~- Mirabo & Maribo -~ ============================================================================== Mirabo and Maribo are the twin Maidens of Fire and, when they're not getting into troulbe, they are working on their studies at the Academy. These two girls may be young, but they are quite worldly. Musashi must be careful when dealing with Mirabo and Maribo, as they may be developing a crush on him! ~- Istara -~ ============================================================================== Unlike the other Mystics, Istara doesn't live in Antheum. This Maiden of Wind prefers to live amongst the Picobeans and the great Arachnolia in Picodon Jungle. Once a Champion at the Arena, her days of fighting monsters to entertain the Mystics are behind her. ~- Master Mew -~ ============================================================================== Nobody becomes a samurai legend without the benefit of learning from a true master. Master Mew may be a bit on the short side, but his wisdom is grand. He takes Musashi under his own tutelage and duplication. Musashi will learn a great deal from Master Mew over the course of his adventure. ~- Chief Banon -~ ============================================================================== Banon, leader of the Mystics, is also the Chief of Antheum. He is a proub but levelheaded man who wants nothing more than for is daughter, Mycella, to be returned and for his village to be free from Gandrake's tyranny. Musashi can visit Banon in his office frequently to study the World Map he keeps there. ~- President Gandrake -~ ============================================================================== Gandrake is a masterful samurai who hasFound his way to becoming the presiden of his own greedy corporation. Gandrake seeks to acquire all of the knocn sources of nebulite and he intends to use the power of the Mystics to do so. Gandrake is extremely skilled with a sword and has the ability to summon Ninjaroids on the spot. ~- Glogg: Director of Negotiations -~ ============================================================================== Glogg relies on his tremendous strength to get by in Gandrake's organization but, truth be told, he's not much of a worker. Known to sneak away to go surfing whenever possible, Glogg's dedication to his job is often brought into question. Despite his constant bickering with Riesling, the two make a great team and are seldom seen apart. ~- Malbec: Director of Research and Development -~ ============================================================================== Malbec, Gandrake's "boy wonder", is the breains behind the various creations produced by Gandrake Enterprises. Malbec may not be much of a swordsman, but he is extremely clever and capable of inventing some of the most dastardly weapons and monsters ever seen! ~- Rothschild: Director of Administration -~ ============================================================================== Rothschild is the suave lieutenant in Gandrake's army. He is exceptionately smart and always calm; he doesn't let much get to him. Rothschild is a master of the arcane and can use the powers of his staff to unleash many nasty surprises. ~- Shiraz: Director of Intelligence -~ ============================================================================== Of all the members in Gandrake's organization, Shiraz is arguably the most sinister. This cat-like Director of Intelligence is an extremely deft combatant who can attack up close with its claws or back off and use its magical tail to do its fighting. ~- Riesling: Director of Security -~ ============================================================================== Unlike Shiraz and Rothschild, Riesling isn't all that bright. In fact, he's a bit of a buffoon- at least that's what Glogg thinks. Riesling is consistantly getting into arguments with Glogg and is the butt of the other board members' jokes. Riesling will definitely have something to prove when he meets up with Musashi. ______________________________________________________________________________ 4] WALKTHROUGH [0400] ______________________________________________________________________________ ============================================================================== 4.01] PROLOGUE [0401] ============================================================================== A princess is shown performing some sort of ritual. She is standing in the center of a large room with a staff at her hand. A guard shouts to her that there are intruders in the building. All of a sudden, Ninjaroids invade the room being accompanied by a strange man. The girl finishes what she calls, "a summoning", and the Ninjaroids rush towards her. The guard is taken down, and the strange man kidnaps the princess after they exchange words. A meteor is shown careening towards earth. It lands in a forest, and a young boy with a metal oar is shown laying on the forest floor. ~- Wellspring Woods -~ ============================================================================== Time to Train ------------- The game starts off in Wellspring Woods. Continue forward from the starting point until you reach the cat. That's Master Mew, and he will start your training, so you know, you can get used to the game. He will tell you the basics to the game. Walk around and slash at the barrels to collect HP and MP. Master Mew will summon an enemy. Use the Square Button to slash the Ninjaroid. Keep slashing him until he dies. Mew summons more and tells you to defend. Press L1 to defend against attacks. Lock on to one of the Ninjaroids and attack, blocking if the other gets too close. Keep killing enemies until you level up. Go into the Main Menu and select "Status". You can level up attributes from there. From now, just select the one that evenly distributes your attributes so all of your stats can get an even boost. Two flowers will pop out of the water once you exit the menu. Hop across and talk to Mew. Jump towards the ledge and you will hang on the edge. Press up on the Left Analog Stick to climb up, then proceed. Mew will teach about carrying people. Press X to pick someone up, Circle to toss them up in the air, and press Square to perform a spinning slash if you threw the person in the air. Press Square to thrust the person being carried into enemies. Press Triangle to drop them. Now that you understand the basics, Master Mew will set up a simple puzzle for Musashi. Mew's Puzzle ------------ This is a relatively simple puzzle if you've been paying attention. Pick up Mew and proceed through the clearing up ahead. A Ninjaroid will come forth; thrust Mew into it several times to kill it. See that orb that's overing the object stuck in the ground? Deactivate it by placing Mew onto the glowing area. The orb will disappear once Mew is standing on the glowing platform. Press X once next to the object to pull it out of the ground: obtaining the Great Oar. You can press Triangle to perform a slow but strong overhead slash with the Great Oar. This weapon has a Latent Power. Three Ninjaroids will appear in front of you. Now's a perfect time to test it out. Press L2 and Triangle to perform it's Latent Power: Maelstrom. It will probably kill them all in one hit. Graduation Day -------------- This is your final test, and a very important technique in battle. Master Mew will teach you how to duplicate and have the ability to perform certain enemies powers. When you lock on to an enemy, a little bar on the side will start to fill up. Once completely filled up, you will be able to duplicate an enemy's attack. If your targeting reticule on the enemy is blue, that means that it has an ability that you can duplicate. Fortunately, the Ninjaroid that appears has an ability that you can duplicate. Lock on and wait for the bar to fill up. Once filled up, let it attack you. Once it's about to hit you, and exclamation point will pop up. Press Square once it pops up to start duplicating the attack. A message will appear telling you what to do in order to duplicate the attack. For this case, press Square repeatedly in order to duplicate the Ninjaroid's ability: Chain Attack. Now you can chain up to five slashes in a row. It doesn't consume any MP, so don't fret. Your last session with Master Mew will be completed once you duplicate and destroy the enemy. Mew will lead you to a path with a blue floating orb. This is a capsule which you can break with your Great Oar. Press Triangle to slash the orb, releasing a Mystic. You must release and rescue all 28 Mystics, which are scattered around the whole game. This capsule contains Modena, a shopkeeper at the village. Mew will tell you that your new quest is to rescue Princess Mycella, who was kidnapped by Gandrake, a leader of a corrupt company planning to so some, well, evil stuff. Enter the tunnel to continue on out of the forest. ~- Tunnel -~ ============================================================================== On His Own ---------- Just like the quest is entitled, Musashi is on his own from now on. Once you enter the tunnel, a Falvabot will come forth. These guys are strong and have a long-range attack. Duplicate his attack by rotating the Left Analog Stick once, then hitting Square. You will learn another technique called Three Sixty, where Musashi spins around, slicing anyone around him. No MP is used for this technique as well as Chain Attack. Take out the Galvabot if he's still alive, then open the chests. You wil recieve a Funky Mask and Iron Parts. These are useless at the time and need to be appraised. A Ninjaroid accompanies two Galvabots as you move forward. Take out them, using Three Sixty if you get surrounded. Hop on the bike to fly through the barricade. You will be travelling through a long tunnel. Use the Left Analog Stick to move and press Square to attack. Hold and release Square for a charged attack. You will encounter Ninja Riders up ahead. Press up to speed forward, slashing them as you pass by. Crash through the barricades for points. Try to position yourself in between two to take them both out for bonuses. A road full of Blasterbots is up ahead. They fire rapid streams of bullets, so move from side to side, slashing at their sides to destroy them. Take out the approaching Galvabots that come your way. More Ninja Riders will come from behind and try to attack. Slash them each as they ride by, and the Red Ninja Rider will come forth. He's a lot stronger than normal ninjas. He will speed in front of you and roll bombs behind himself towards you. Dodge the bombs and he will slow down. Speed up and slash him once or twice or use a charged shot. When he rears back his sword, defend with L1 or slow down to completely dodge the attack. Speed back up and take him out with some more slashes. You will earn money for the number of barracades smashed and number of enemies defeated. Hop off of the bike and open the chest containing Torch Parchment. Walk through the checkpoint so that if you die, you will be restored there. Break the capsule containing the Mystic Shiranzo and exit the tunnel. ~- Nebulium Tower -~ ============================================================================== You will now have to travel across the long bridge towards Nebulium Tower. The bridge is guarded by a massive amount of Galvabots. Walk across the bridge to have around 5 come towards and fight you. Use Three Sixty often to scatter them and use Chain Attack to send one or two flying. Proceed across the next section of the bridge, taking out more Galvabots. Use Three Sixty constantly, since it doesn't waste any MP. Head to the circular platform to attract some Ninjaroids. Take them out and break the machines on the edges for some HP and MP. Go across the two final bridges, destroying any Galvabot in your path. On the last section before the tower, a lot more Galvabots will approach you. Lure them all next to each other and use Mealstrom to take them all out. Proceed through the door into the tower. Continue up the spiral pathway on the edge of the wall. Take out any Ninjaroids in your way. Keep heading up until you reach an elevator. Continue to the dead end to find another capsule. Break it open to release Palou, then go back and enter the elevator. On the second floor, continue up the spiral pathway littered with Ninjaroids and Blasterbots. Take them out and guard when needed. You should soon arrive at a room. Enter to find the princess. Destroy the machine next to the chamber that she's being held in to release her. They introduce each other, and Musashi tells her that they need to escape. You will have to carry Mycella througout the tower. Thrust her into any oncoming enemies for massive damage. When you get on the elevator, it takes you up instead of down. Musashi and Mycella end up on the tower apex when the elevator stops. Musashi decides to jump off with Mycella to escape, but a scream is heard from behind him. A shadowy figure grabs Mycella and jumps on a tall structure. He introduces himself as Gandrake, the corrupt leader of an evil organization. He kidnaps Mycella and teleports away, leaving Musashi with his latest creation: The Vaporbot. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS: Vaporbot The Vaporbot is a big tough machine that has several attacks. For its first attack, he will lower his arms to the ground and start spinning towards you. Simply run in the opposite direction to avoid any collision. If you get too far away, he will smash his hands together and shoot them at you at a high speed, making it somewhat hard to get out of the way. Get up close to the Vaporbot and strike the yellow orb with the spike at its end. Repeatedly slash it to deal some damage to it. The Vaporbot will curl into a ball and shoot itself at a wall and ricochet around the room, pinball style. You will most likely get hurt because the attack in general is very hard to dodge. The Vaporbot will then float in the air in the circular form like before. Watch his big shadow and stay away from it. He will fall, breaking into three pieces. Attack the central part with the red insignia on it and use Maelstrom to deal massive damage. He will then rebuild himself again, so go and slash the glowing orb more. The Vaporbot's last attack is a gun-type attack where he aims towards Musashi and fires bullets out of his fingertips. Stay in between the rows of gunfire and wait for the bullets to stop. Slash the core, dodge the ball form, and wait for the Vaporbot to crash down again. Keep repeating this process and the Vaporbot will be totaled. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Master Mew will appear and teleport Musashi to Antheum, the home of the Mystics. You have just finished the Prolouge. ============================================================================== 4.02] OF SWORDS AND MAIDENS [0402] ============================================================================== ~- Antheum -~ ============================================================================== A Village Palaver ----------------- Master Mew introduced Musashi to Chief Banon and his wife, Fermiere. Banon is the leader of the Mystics and Princess Mycella's father. Banon explains that the summoning Mycella used earlier actually summoned Musashi to Antheum, where he was to rescue the princess. Musashi is the only hope in stopping Gandrake from using the Mystics' power for himself and his Enterprise and in rescuing Mycella. The Mystics rely on a mineral called Nebulite. Gandrake is taking all of the Nebulite for their Enterprises. They run an engine which uses Nebulite as fuel, and with the shortage of Nebulite, Gandrake Enterprises is using the Mystics to locate more Nebulite. Antheum is a city that's actually on the back of a giant flying whale called the Anthedon. The Anthedon has a mystical power and magical forces, and with the help of Mycella and the Mystics, it can actually return Musashi home. Mew explains that without the prescence of the 5 Sacred Swords, the Anthedon isn't strong enough to send Musashi home. So Musashi's task is to rescue Mycella, collect all 5 Sacred Swords, and rescue all of the Mystics from Gandrake. Of course, here's a little info about the various places in Antheum. Only four students are enrolled, but the teacher, Mrs. Tilsit, has a hard time controlling them. Visit the Academy every once and a while to have conversation with the teacher and her students. Dojo ---- Since Musashi isn't a master samurai yet, Master Mew set up a dojo for the two to train. Here, you can learn two new duplication abilities, which can be quite useful in the outside world. Chief's Quarters ---------------- This is the home to Banon, Fermiere, and Mycella. You can visit to talk with the chief's family or to access the Chamber of Rites with a Mystic or of course, a Maiden. Alright, once you've gotten the feel of Antheum, head to Tunnbrod's Bread. Talk to Tunnbrod for him to tell you that the Maiden of Earth, Burrini, headed out to Manglewood. Go to Banon's Office on the first floor. Here, you will be transported to Wellspring Woods once again. ~- Wellspring Woods -~ ============================================================================== Find the Maiden --------------- Musashi will start in the woods where he started in the beginning of the game. Head up towards the lake, then left and hop across the flowers. Taking out oncoming Ninjaroids should be a lot easier since you're had a lot of time to practice in the Prologue. Hop up on the ledge and climb on top of it. Proceed forward. Break the capsule containing Asadero. Keep going forward. This area is the same place where Mew taught you about carrying. There are new enemies here, which are the Ripper Bats. You can duplicate Sonic Thrust from them by pressing up on the Left Analog Stick and hitting Square. Take them out with your newly acquired technique. Keep going down the path to find Burrini, who seems to be in some trouble. Musashi sees that Burrini is being pursued by Ninjaroids and that strange man who captured Mycella in the opening cutscene. He introduces himself as Rothschild, Director of Administration. Musashi runs to the scene, and Rothschild flees with the Ninjaroids to deal with Musashi and Burrini. Take them out with a Maelstrom and take out any stragglers. Burrini will thank you for saving her, but comments on how she can't stand. Manglewood Madness ------------------ Pick her up and return to the previous area. Once back at the area with the lake at the center, jump down off of the ledge. Ninjaroids will attack, but I find it easy to thrust Burrini into them and aim for the water. If you hit them into the water, they'll instantly die. Head left from the ledge and go up the pathway. A capsule containing Allegee is up ahead. Break it to free the mysterious fortune teller. Take out the Ninjaroid and enter Manglewood. ~- Manglewood -~ ============================================================================== Manglewood is one giant maze. Each area is forked four times, with four different ways to go. The areas look like this: North | | | West------+------East | | | South This maze repeats itself over and over, where you can only go a certain way each time. If you want to exit Manglewood, just go south to exit the maze. Ninjaroids will appear at each crossroad. Bring Burrini to the center of the intersection. She will tell you which direction to go. To make your way through the maze easily, just follow these directions: - North - East - North - West - North Once you follow those directions, you will exit Manglewood. You will enter another part of Wellspring Woods where Burrini has kept the Sword of Earth. She explains that she sealed an evil monster in the urn up ahead. She used the Sword of Earth to seal the massive beast in the urn. She suggests that you break the seal and take the sword, because the monster, Gorpus, is very old after being sealed in there for all those years and he shouldn't be a problem. Climb up the large urn and walk towards the sword embedded in the top of the structure. Musashi will pull out the sword and Gorpus will smash out of the urn, sending part of the structure careening towards the entrance. The urn lands in the entranceway, sealing the entrance and splitting Burrini and Musashi up. The enraged beast roars at Musashi. It's time to fight! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS: Gorpus Gorpus is a giant mechanical scorpion with an attitude. You can take out its arms, but they will regrow soon. Gorpus's main attack is to slice at you with its massive claws. Run towards it to have it attack you, and run away from you get hit. He's stationary with this attack, so it won't follow you. Gorpus will jump in the air and land shortly after. He's quick and large, so try to stay out of the impact and get away from the casted shadow. Slash at his protective jaw plate over its eye whenever you have a chance. The scorpion will glow red and charge at you if you keep your distance. This is the way to go, because he slowly runs towards you, making it easy to dodge. Gorpus has one last attack, but it's dangerous. He will charge up its tail as it starts to glow. Gorpus will shoot multiple fireballs out of its tail towards Musashi. Run from side to side in order to dodge them. They are fast, so be prepared to use Rye Bread or Burnt Biscuits if you get hit at all. Once the fireballs cease, Gorpus will collapse to the ground, totally exhausted. Quickly dash in front of the mechanical monster and slash the jaw piece covering its eye. It may take one or two successful tries to destroy the place. If he gets up, the dodge more attacks and wait for him to shoot fireballs again. Once the jaw place is off, use your Great Oar to swing into Gorpus's eyeball. It will rear back in pain and a new jaw plate will appear. It will become faster with its attacks and try to strike you since you're up close. Run away from the beasts claws or dodge them and slash at the claws. If you break off a claw, dodging the attack will be much easier for there's only one claw to deal with and the other doesn't grow back for a while. You can take out both of its claws, totally eliminating that attack until the claws regrow. Gorpus will shoot more fireballs every time its eye is damaged so take note of that. It will take three hits to the eye to kill the creature, but remember that you must destroy the jaw piece each time. Once Gorpus is slain, you recieve the Sword of Earth. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~- Antheum -~ ============================================================================== The Rite of Transfer -------------------- As you return to Antheum, Tunnbrod and Burrini will both thank you for your help back in Manglewood. Burrini says that in order for the Sword of Earth's power to be used, they must go to the Chamber of Rites and release its Latent Power. Proceed to the third floor and go into the Chief's Quarters and step on the teleport pad. After the ritual, Musashi will be able to use Tremor Thrust, the Sword of Earth's Latent Power bye pressing L2 and Triangle. It also restored some power to the Anthedon, making it stronger. Meanwhile, at Gandrake Headquarters, the organization is being called for a meeting. Malbec, Glogg, Rothschild, Shiraz, and Riesling are having a conversation. TheyFound out that Musashi has destroyed the Vaporbot, and they aren't liking it. Clochette, Gandrake's Assistant, starts the meeting as Gandrake comes forward. Glogg isn't happy, and he wants a piece of Musashi. Gandrake tells Glogg that he should stay away from Musashi at all costs, because he is a dangerous foe. Glogg is actually relieved by that statement, and the meeting ends. ============================================================================== 4.03] BROKEN GLASSES [0403] ============================================================================== ~- Antheum -~ ============================================================================== Another Maiden Gone Missing --------------------------- Head to Banon's Office to hear some grave news. Gandrake's henchmen has kidnapped Fontina, Maiden of Water, and is keeping her in Roquefort Mine. They specifically kidnapped her because she is the wisest of the Maidens and has the most knowlege of Nebulite. If they could get her to talk, then she could leak possible info about Nebulite. Musashi takes the request and goes to save her. Talk to Banon to access the World Map. Move up towards the words "Roquefort Mine" and the Anthedon wil fly there. Press X to accept the Broken Glasses quest. ~- Roquefort Mine -~ ============================================================================== Exploratory Drilling -------------------- You will start off outside of the mine. Glogg will tell the Ninja Drillers on duty to keep working, because he's bored and is heading back to headquarters. Glogg leaves, and the drillers slack off. Go straight across the plank, but turn left before you go across the bridge. Hop up the stairs and collect Iron Parts. Go down and across the bridge to fight some Ninjaroids. Round the corner and take out the Galvabots near the three structures. In- between the pink pipes are switches. Step on a switch and use Tremor Thrust. Switch to the Sword of Earth and press L2 and Triangle. Musashi will slam the sword onto the switch. The door will open, containing items and MP bubbles. Do this to all three switches to recieve all the goodies. Go down the walkway and jump over the horizontal pipes. Take out the Galvabot and use Tremor Thrust on the large rock with the crack in the middle. It should be laying on the wall past the Galvabot and right next to where you can drop down. Once broken, it reveals a cave. Open the chest to obtain the Hard Hat, which raises Defense. Exit the cave and drop down near the drillers. Focus on one and wait until one sees you and rears its drill back. It will rapidly stab you with it's drill. If your focus meter is filled, get hit with this move and press Circle to duplicate it. This is Angry Hornet, and this spell will be your friend for most of the game. Kill the Drillers, but remember that they can interrupt a Chain Attack with their drills; they are strong. They keep reappearing, so unless you want mad EXP, head up the ramp. Go around for more drillers and Galvabots and take them out. There is a large group of machines that you can break for HP, MP, and money. Go around the bars on the edge of the wall and walk between the bars and the wall. You'll see a chest; open it for some cash. Head bak out and drop down the hole. It leads to a lower level. Take out the drillers and open the chest for some Magic Alloy. Go up the ladder back to the upper level where all the drillers were. See teh central structure? Jump to the section in the center where the switch is. Tremor Thrust the switch to rotate the structral beam. Jump back near the drillers and climb up the ladder to a beam. Break the capsule to free the blacksmith, Mugwort. You can upgrade your swords if you give him Magic Alloy. Jump onto the rotating beam and look at the right beam. There's an entranceway there. Once on the rotating beam, wait for it to face the beam with the entrance at the end. Jump on that beam and proceed forward towards the entrance. Now you'll be inside of the mine. Steamed ------- Defeat the four Ninjaroids near the entrance then take out one Blasterbot. If you take out both, then two more will appear, so just destroy one and avoid the other. There is an upgraded Galvabot called a Voltrabot. He can shoot electricity at you, and conveniently for you, he has a duplicable attack; Paralyzing Punch. Lock on to him and wait for the bar to charge up. When he goes to punch you, get hit and press O to learn Paralyzing Punch. Kill him once the ability is learned and climb the ladder to the left. You will walk across walkways with vents to the side which blast out steam. Avoid the steam and kill the Voltrabot. Get the powerups and jump to the second walkway. Avoid the steam and climb up the ladder. Defeat the Ninjaroid and Tremor Thrust the switch to turn the vents off. No more steam! Go back down and head forward past the three vents where the steam was coming from and open the chest. You will get a Passion Punch. Go towards the platform and break the capsule. Kiri is the Mystic that was sealed away in the capsule; she runs a creamery. hit the switch to open the large door where the first Voltrabot was. Jump down and go through to door to end up on an elevator. Press X next to the switch to turn on the elevator. The elevator will go down the track, but Musashi hears a noise from below. A massive machine with drills comes riding up towards the elevator and jumps on. It roars at Musashi and aims its drill arms for battle. Get ready for one of the hardest boss battles in the game! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS: Drill Golem This guy is insanely hard, and it took me at least 20 tries to take him out. Make sure you have a lot of Rye Break, because his attacks deal over 30 damage. The little moving space doesn't help either. The boss only has two attacks, but they are devastating. The first attack is where the Drill Golem moves his drill hands and attempts to smash you. Jump away from him and you should dodge the hit. The second move is when he breathes fire at you. This attack has a very long range, so either go to the opposite side of the elevator or try to get behind the big guy. The key to winning this battle is to keep your distance. Stay on the opposite side of the elevator. Drill Golem will lumber toyou. Run behind him to get away. If he rises and rears back his head, then get behind him: he's about to spew fire. The first attack takes a bit of time to execute, so you can get more hits in. Use Angry Hornet one or two times on his back, then run aawy before he swipes at you. Run back to the other side of the elevator and wait for him to comes towards you again. Use a Passion Punch and use Angry Hornet on his back, and always stay moving. If he traps you in a corner, you're pretty much done. Don't use Maelstrom; it's a waste of MP. Angry uses less MP and it actually deals as much or more damage. If you're out of MP, then swipe him with a couple katana slashes. Don't use a Chain Attack, because it takes too long, and by then, he's already in front of you and ready to attack. Drill Golem is insanely hard, but once you have his pattern down, you can take him out after a couple of tries. Once you kill the big guy, it will get knocked down off of the elevator and explodes. Woohoo! ~- Alternate Strategy (by Draco Purity Starscream) -~ My character's stats at this time: Level - 5 HP - 125 MP - 129 Strength - 50 Defense - 35 Focus - 32 Luck - 40 I believe I had chose that I wanted to improve my strengths (MP and Strength) once, and individually improved my Strength three times to achieve these stats. I also had a single upgrade using 2 magic alloy on my katana, I was wielding the Earth Sword, and had the Hard Hat equipped. During this battle, I was immediately being submerged in fire until I developed a hasty strategy. I approached the scorpion, and when he got ready to strike me, I ran back and around him, and used Angry Wasp on his back once or twice. After the first or second time, I used a Passion Punch, and was dealing 400-600 damage per Angry Wasp. Over the battle, due to mistakes in the beginning and in my timing, I only used 3 Rye Breads. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Going South on B3 ----------------- Once the elevator lands, go through the checkpoint. Break the machines for powerups and take out the Voltrabots and Galvabots through the hallway. Dodge more steam from the vents and proceed into the circular dirt room. There are groups of enemies that spawn for an infinate amount of times. If you want EXP, here's the place to go, but there are so many enemies to kill; it's hard. Ninja Miners make an appearance here. Focus them and when they spin their pickaxe, get hit and press L1 to learn Twin Turbine, a defensive |
