Pitching
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==============================================================================
A.Types Of Pitches -
- 4 Seam Fastball
- 2 Seam Fastball
- Regular Changeup
- Circle Changeup
- Curveball
- Cutter
- Knuckleball
- Forkball
- Knucklecurve
- Palmball
- Slider
- Screwball
- Slurve
- Split-fingered Fastball
- Sinker
B.Situational Pitches
A. Types Of Pitches :
4 Seam Fastball -No need to worry, every player in the game has this
pitch. I suggest using it as the first pitch to a batter.
Good pitches to throw after the fastbal are splitters
and changeups. Some pitchers have splitters others do not, so
I suggest using a changeup to change the pace of the at-bat.
2 Seam Fastball - Less speed and more movement than the 4 seamer. It curves
in and outside of the strike zone, so its main purpose is
to fool a batter. Its best if you use a changeup after the
2 seamer.
Regular Changeup - This ultimate off-speed pitch is best used in two strike
counts. It will most of the time cause the batter to swing
early. I suggest using a 4 seamer to complement the changeup.
Circle Changeup - Has a little bit more movement than a regular changeup.
See (Reg. Changeup)
Curveball - An offspeed pitch with movement. Best used to get the batter into
thinking the ball will stay in the zone, when in reality it will
curve out. Will either curve north-south or east-west.
Cutter - Has tremendous effectiveness. Has a bit more movement than the 2 seam
fastball. Throw a changeup after you throw this pitch.
Knuckleball - The slowest pitch in the game and arguably the most effective.
It changes direction more than a couple of times. A fastball is
the best pitch to use after throwing a knuckleball.
Forkball - A curveball but a tiny bit faster. See (Curveball)
Knucklecurve - As it's name suggests, this pitch is a combination of a
knuckleball and a curveball. It has more movement than a
curveball, but is slower. Pitch a fastball after throwing
one of these.
Palmball - Clocks in around 60-70 MPH. It's movement is North-South. Throw a
decent fastball after this palmball.
Slider - A slow pitch, a slider usually changes its movement by going from one
side of the plate to the other. Throw a curveball after you throw a
slider.
Screwball - Throw this pitch to screw up the batter. This pitch moves east-west
and is not terribly fast. Throw a fastball as your next pitch.
Slurve - A slider and a curveball combination. Not much movement and speed can
be credited to this pitch. Throw a curveball as your next pitch.
Split-Fingered Fastball - I recommend this pitch, if you are not playing an
all-strikes game. You could get a lot of people jumpy
if you pitch too much of these. It's a fast pitch
and has lots of downward movement, which basically
spells out a strikeout if you throw this below the
zone. Hopefully you will throw this with an 0-2
count. If you need another pitch I would go with a
changeup.
Sinker - You want a ground ball, you get one with this pitch. I wouldn't
recommend throwing this too much, because people can really start
to kill your pitches if you do. (Trust me, I know this). It's a
fairly fast pitch, so throw a changeup to follow
-------------------------------- ----------------------------------
B. Situational Pitches: (If there is (!) before a suggestion that means it
could be a danger)
(0-0 Count): Fastball low and away -----> usually a ground ball
(0-1 Count): A. Slider or curveball low and away -----> usually a ground ball
B. !Fastball high and away! ------> usually strikeout or an
opposing team homerun
(0-2 Count): A. Changeup or curveball/slider center-away -----> usually a
strikeout or a linedrive
B. Splitter center-low/ below strikezone ------> usually a
guaranteed strikeout or ground ball
(1-0 Count): Fastball center-away or low and away ------> usually a
groundball or linedrive
(1-1 Count): See (0-1)
(1-2 Count): See (0-2)
(2-0 Count) : !Slider/Curve or Changeup high and away! -------> batter
may take or get a hit
(2-1 Count) : Fastball/Cutter/Sinker center-low or low and away --> groundball
(2-2 Count) : Changeup low and away ---------> groundball or strikeout
(3-0 Count) : If Power hitter is up walk him
!Fastball low and away! ----------> batter may take or get
a hit
(3-1 Count) : See (3-0)
(3-2 Count) : A. Splitter center-low/below strikezone -------> usually a
guaranteed strikeout
B. Any pitch barely touching strikezone -------> walk or hit
or out, it depends
(Intentionally Walking) : If I were the pitcher and I saw more than two guys
on base, I would the check the hitter's attributes.
If he has more than 80 power or 80 contact, he
the threat of getting a big hit. Walk him. If
nobody is on base, you may just want to walk a
guy because the guy hitting next poses no threat to
get a hit.
I remind you, if you have any suggestions, or if what I suggested
doesn't work, e-mail me
and let me know, I would be more than happy to change my approach.

Hitting

I am still researching the fundamentals of hitting to perfection in
this game.

Fielding

2. Climb/Jump
3. Sliding

A. Confusion Among Fielding Circles
This little section is dedicated to you, so you do not get confused!
Red Circle: When you see this, it means get ready to catch the ball.
Green Circle: When you are next to the wall - jump and try to rob
a potential homerun.
White Circle: Neutral, make an effort to catch the ball.
B. Different Types Of Catches
1. The Stretch: You see a ball that is apparently foul, what do you do?
If the fielding circle is clearly on the grass, and it
is not cut off at all, you should just make a regular catch
(don't press the right analog stick). If the circle is
in between being the grass and the wall you just want to
attempt to stretch for the would-be foul ball.Timing is
definately key.
{Press right analog stick towards the ball}
2. The Wall Climb/ Jump: It's back, way back, to the track, and.... The
announcers will tell you if it is gone, but still
even if it isn't the Wall Climb/ Jump is huge. Make
sure you time it to perfection as you don't want the
ball to go over the fence, and as a result your
chances of snagging the ball are eliminated. Trying
to a rob a homerun isn't the only time you will need
to exploit this function. If you see a ball sail
deep, but not out of the ball, you may want to try
to make a leaping catch. (If your OF is fast, don't
bother). Also if you see a a linedrive hit, and the
CPU automatically sets your infielder as the guy
who may make a play at it, chances are you will over
50% have a chance to snag a would-be hit.
{Press right analog stick ^ (up)}
3. Sliding Catch: You have a clear cut chance of making a play at that
blooper, what are you going to do? Correct Answer: A
sliding catch. Only attempt one of these if you have a
clear cut chance of making a play. If you do not have
a clear cut chance of making a play, you risk an opposing
team's triple or inside the park HR. If you are honestly
not sure of what to do, DO NOT RISK IT. If your fielder
needs to make a sliding catch from left to right, or
vice-versa, be sure to make sure you are in good reach
of the ball (once again, you do not want to overplay it).
{Press right analog stick v (down), or < - >
C. Throwing Meter
-First things first, if you have read the game manual you should know
by now that the four buttons on the controller corresponds to the
bases on the baseball diamond. Ex. (X = HOME PLATE, O = FIRST BASE)
-If you want an accurate throw, make sure the meter ends up in the green.
If you want a really powerful, throw towards the red end, but beware
your throw may be way off the mark. If it's a game-deciding, sacrifice fly
you want the powerful throw, not an adequate, accurate throw.
-To throw to a cut-off man, with power and accuracy hold the R2 button down.
If you throw to a selected to a base and then press R2, the relay will be
much slower, so you really need to make up your mind as you are catching
the ball.
-The best new fielding feature in the game, I believe is the fake throw.
If you the opposing team's runner is in a pickle, you will get him out
100% of the time, and I guarantee it. You want to hear more, don't you?
If their runner is running back to first base, for whatever reason, and
you're controlling your second baseman, make a fake throw to 1st base, and
I 100% guarantee the guy will run back to second. Well, since you actually
didn't throw to first, all you have to do is run towards the runner, and
that's an out. You will basically master this, in about two or three online
games. That is how frequent this happens online. If you come across any
situation at all, and you don't know what to do, e-mail me, I know.

c. Lyrics Of The Songs
1. Let It Dive (From Trailofdead.org)
Now that our ties are served
As we say goodbye
Let us not wonder whether
We are ready to take the dive
Let it dive, let it die, let it fade out of sight
Let it drag us down, let it fade
Grieve, but not grieve together
Mourn with nothing to say
Gone are those times forever
Lost as those sweet warm other days
Let it dive, let it die, let it fade out of sight
Let it drag us down, let it come between you and I
Let it dive, let it die, let it fade
Where we born to despair
Deeds done but not forgiven?
There will always be something there
As long as one of us goes on living
Let it dive, let it die
Let it fade out of sight
Let it drag us down, let it come between you and I
What's done is done, no reason to apologize
Let it dive, let it die, let it fade
2. Tessie (From Plyrics.com)
Tessie is the Royal Rooters rally cry
Tessie is the tune they always sung
Tessie echoed April through October nights
After serenading Stahl, Dinneen and Young
Tessie is a maiden with a sparkling eye
Tessie is a maiden with a love
She doesn't know the meaning of her sight
She's got a comment full of love
And sometimes when the game is on the line
Tessie always carried them away
Up the road from third base to Huntington
The boys will always sing and sway
Two! Three! Four!
Tessie, Nuff Said McGreevey shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only only only
The Rooters showed up at the grounds one day
They found their seats had all been sold
McGreevey led the charge into the park
Stormed the gates and put the game on hold
The Rooters gave the other team a dreadful fright
Boston's tenth man could not be wrong
Up from third base to Huntington
They'd sing another victory song
Two! Three! Four!
Tessie, Nuff Said McGreevey shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only only only
The Rooters gave the other team a dreadful fright
Boston's tenth man could not be wrong
Up from third base to Huntington
They'd sing another victory song
Two! Three! Four!
Tessie, Nuff Said McGreevey shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Boston, you are the only only only
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Red Sox, you are the only only only
3. The IROC-Z Song (From Myself, I'll try my best, let me know)
He rocks his IROC-Z, he rocks it well
He rocks is Oakleys and his Oakleys-low from hell
Hes spinning donuts out in front of Taco Bell
The bills are wanting him so bad and we can tell
I shed for him the days, you know I can
Four finger tapping, yeah, Van Halen is the man
Hes making fun because I play in marching band
Hes getting action while I get my barber a ten
Hey, There is ego in my way
Lucky for me I got the impatience of a cent
Ready! Steady! These days are high and heavy!
Theres so much more left to say
But there's ego in my way
He plays the ladies man, he plays it cool
I play my guitar and I play it by the rules
You think you run so hot, I challenge you to pool
After School! After School! AFTER SCHOOL!
Hey, there is ego in my way
Lucky for me I got the impatience of a cent
Ready! Steady! These Days are high and heavy!
Theres so much more left to say
But there's ego in my way x6, lets rock!
4. You Owe Me An IOU (From Myself)
Hes was in the habit of taking things for granted
Granted, there wasn't much for him to take
And the only thing cause he wanted?? cause it reminded he never changed
Got things he never dis-complimented
It didn't even bother him that talk is even cheaper by the month
and the only cause he wanted?? cause it reminded he never changed
You Owe me an IOU, Owe me an IOU, don't think that I'll forget x2
I know what I shall get this time
She was in the habit of re-applying makeup, makeup
Beating up my crock, could I contest?
And the only thing cause he wanted?? cause it reminded she never changed
A blurry individual, covering sub-traditional
She couldn't seem to make up her mind
And the onl thing cause he wanted?? cause it reminded she never changed
You Owe me an IOU, Owe me an IOU, don't think that I'll forget x2
I know what I shall get this time
Ooh is it real? Whats the deal? My life- it is what ive been that it is
if it is and this might just work
They were in the habit of taking things for granted
granted, they never caught you in the air
and the only thing that comes in whats the deal comes in
to remind you it never changed
You Owe me an IOU, Owe me an IOU, don't think that I'll forget x2
I know what I shall get this time
