In this guide will be dozens of players that several users on the PS2 MVP Baseball 2005 board thought were either underrated or overrated when the game was released. The original topic was started by CPowder on the PS2 MVP Baseball 2004 board and the whole thing took off from there, with dozens of contributors eventually leading to the posting of an edit FAQ for MVP '04. Several dozen player edits will be contained in this guide, all of which will be edited by users on the MVP 2005 board. This guide is not meant to correct any player stats, only to update them. Please read all of the following before editing any players, especially the warning. I'm not responsible for anything negative that may come about due to editing existing players. ################################################################################ # 2. Information and Disclaimer # ################################################################################ I claim ownership only of the guide; any and all edits contained within are credited to whoever created them, and that person's alias will be listed with the player. If one of the credits need to be corrected or changed, drop me an e-mail or post in one of the related topics on the PS2 MVP Baseball 2005 board. There may be CAPs contained in this guide as new players are called up or Japanese imports are created. Mostly, however, all that will be contained in this thing are edits for players some board users believe have been rated too high or not high enough. That includes players that may have had an off-year but may be off to a quick start this season. ################################################################################ # 3. Player Edits Information # ################################################################################ WARNING: Before editing any player, read the following: Editing any player outside of a dynasty will change his contract to that of a created player with the exact same stats (i.e., editing Alex Rodriguez outside of a dynasty will lower his massive contract to about 4.10 M/Year). Players will be listed by team then last name, in alphabetical order. To quickly find a player, hit Ctrl+F and type in their last name. Some players have real screwy last names, so you could also do a search for the player's team to locate him. If you want to submit an edit, either e-mail me or post in the appropriate topic on the PS2 MVP Baseball 2005 board. I'll take it into consideration and likely post it if there are no previous edits for that player. It would help if you'd give a reason why the player's stats should be edited to the way you posted, but it's not entirely necessary. For pitchers' fastball velocity, the actual speed of the pitch is two MPH over the listed velocity in the PS2 version. So, if the fastball velocity for a pitcher is 92, the pitcher's fastball in the game will top out at 94. In MVP '04, the PC version was slightly different. The speed of the fastball in the game topped out one MPH over the listed velocity. So if someone has the PC version, I'd appreciate if they could confirm this for me. For hot/cold zones: R = Red (hot zone) N = Neutral (neutral zone) B = Blue (cold zone) I'll also list the scab players here with the [SCAB] tag. To find them, just hit Ctrl+F and type in a search for [SCAB], with the brackets included. And yes, I realize Jon Dowd/Barry Bonds is not a scab, it's just more logical to list him as one so he's easier to find. For all scab players, I may not have their appearance 100% correct, as I was just going by the pictures on ESPN.com. If there are any corrections to those, post in the appropriate topic on the PS2 MVP Baseball 2005 board. Top 100 prospects will have a [100] tag next to their names. Again, to find them quickly, just hit Ctrl+F and type in [100] with the brackets included. Some top 100 prospects have names that won't fit for whatever reason. They've been marked with an asterisk (*); do what you want with them. I just left the last letter (or letters, in Vechionacci's case) off their name.
