I. Introduction
Welcome to the Player Rating FAQ, written by Rashidi.  The purpose of
this FAQ is to update the ratings of the players in the game, to make
them as accurate as possible, as well as to represent what they have
accomplished during the 2006-2007 season, and to educate readers a bit
on the NBA’s history.
Any updates to player ratings or major changes to the FAQ will be
listed in the Updates section.  Check it whenever a new version comes
out.

III. Version Updates
Version 1.1 (6/20/07)
I updated EVERY player and made the guide compatabile for next-gen
(which means more updates next year now that all the data input and
cleaning is out of the way).  It’s been a long four months… truly
gratifying nowthat it’s finally over… on second thought, the draft is
in a week…
Also, I’m still looking for help on a website and/or getting employed
by 2K Sports!

The guide was ultimately delayed because my computer crashed.  I had
not yet backed up this guide to disk so I had to get the files off of

Now, what do the ratings do?
Overall Rating – The numerical average of the player’s total collection
of abilities. Not all ratings are equal.  Some affect overall more than
others, and some don’t affect it at all.  Some ratings are also more
important to certain player positions than others, and thus have more
of an impact on overall.
Close Shot – Two-point shooting accuracy (inside the paint).
Medium Shot – Two-point shooting accuracy (outside the paint).
3pt Shot – Three-point shooting accuracy.
Free Throw – Free Throw shooting accuracy.
Layup – Layup accuracy, frequency, and creativity.
Dunk – Dunk accuracy, frequency, and creativity.
Dunk Range – The distance from which a player can dunk.
Dunk Standing – Tall players can dunk when underneath the basket
regardless of a low dunk rating.
Ball Handling – Determines how effective a player will be at using
Isomotion crossovers.  A higher rating also makes it harder to steal
the ball from the player.
Pass – Determines the accuracy and speed of passes made by the player.
A higher rating also makes it harder to steal passes from the player.
Offense Clutch – Determines how much better a player will perform
offensively in clutch situations (The 4th Quarter and OT).
Shoot or Pass – This rating determines how frequently a player will
look to shoot when they have the ball.  A high rating means they will
look for their shot, while a low rating means they will usually pass
off.
Post Offense – Effectiveness of offensive post moves.
Post Defense – Effectiveness of defending a player in the post.
Defense –
Block – Ability to block the opponent’s shot.
Steal – Ability to steal the ball from the opponent, or pick off a
pass.
Defense Clutch  – Determines how much better a player will perform
defensively in clutch situations (The 4th Quarter and OT).
RebOff – Ability to grab offensive rebounds.
RebDef – Ability to grab defensive rebounds.
Speed – How fast the player runs down the court.
Stamina – The rate of which players grow tired.
Durability – Resistance to injury.  Players with low Durability will
suffer injuries more frequently, and the injuries will me more serious.
Defensive Awareness – Determines how effective a player will execute in
defensive plays.
Offensive Awareness – Determines how effective a player will execute in
offensive plays.
Shot Close Tendency – How often the CPU will attempt close shots with a
player.
Shot Med Tendency – How often the CPU will attempt med shots with a
player.
Shot 3PT Tendency – How often the CPU will attempt 3pt shots with a
player.
Drive Tendency – How often the CPU will attempt to drive with a player.
Dunk Tendency - How often the CPU will attempt dunks with a player.

VI. The ratings
Ratings will be done in descending order, from highest overall, to
lowest overall.  This should work best, because the top players are the
ones most of you will want to edit first.  Doing it by team is bad,
because players change teams a lot, especially in the offseason.
If you want to find the ratings for specific players, Ctrl + F is your
best friend.  Press the Ctrl key.  Hold it.  Then press F.  Then enter
the name of something you are searching for.  Make sure you spell it
correctly.

NOTES
Smith was called the most likely player to be a bust in the 2004 draft.
At one point he was third on most mock drafts behind Okafor and Howard.
It’s anyone’s guess what Smith is capable of, who knows, maybe he’ll be
rookie of the year on a horrible Atlanta team, or maybe he’ll ride the
bench and shoot 35% from the field.  Well, Smith was also compared to
Vince Carter, and at least he proved he has his athletic ability, as he
won this year’s dunk contest.

Craig “Speedy” Claxton played with Lamar Odom, Omar Cook, and Erick
Barkley at Christ the King HS.  He was instrumental in tiring out Jason
Kidd during the 02-03 NBA Finals, and got a ring for his efforts.

Cousin of Damon Stoudamire (for whatever reason, that connection
