Timed Issen: This is performed by attacking the enemy the moment their attack is about to land. This is probably the most risky, because if you miss-time it, you may get hit by the attack. Strafe Issen: This is performed by Holding R1 to Target the Enemy, and as their attack is about to land, strafing to the left or right while pressing square at the same time. This one is usually less-risky than the Timed Issen. ------- ============================================================= Beginner Mode: First Enemy - The First 2 Enemies you fight are Zombies, they do minimal damage, and don't always attack. To get them to attack, Hold down Circle and they should growl, indicating they are about to attack. Their Overhead Slash is the easiest thing to Issen. When you see it coming, don't move. When its about to hit you, Swing. You should get the hang of this one easy. --------------------------- Second Enemies - The Second Enemies you fight are 4-Legged Zombies. They attack a little more aggressively, but again, do minimal damage. Their Jumping Slash and Side Slash are the easiest thing to Issen because its easiest to see coming. As they are swinging, wait for it to nearly make contact, then swing at them. ------------------------- Third Enemies - Next you fight 2 Pigs, also known as Bazuu. These things can do more damage than the last 2, but again, should pose no problem Issening. I find it easiest to Issen them when they do their Roll Attack. To get them to do it, simply stand a little bit away from them. When they come within 2 steps or so while rolling, swing your weapon. This is almost an assured kill, and is the easiest way to Issen them. ----------------------- Fourth Enemy - Next you fight a Slime Thing. This thing is kind of hard to Issen because its attacks are harder to see coming. But if you stay near it, it should do a small forward lunge with its upper part of the body. Watch to see what it looks like and learn it. Then when it leans back to do it, wait for it to just start moving forward and then swing. This one will take more practice, but shouldn't be too hard. Just watch out for its Rising Body Slam, that is a pain to Issen. --------------------------------------- Intermediate Mode: First Enemy - The Quick Ninja isn't too hard to issen, despite its quick attacks, they are still relatively easy to see coming. The best way to Issen this one is to keep within striking range of it. This should cause it to either do a Jumping attack, or an overhead slash with its bladed arm. If it does the over head slash, you may not catch it at first, but next time you should be able to see it coming. When its arm starts coming down, that's your time to Issen it. ----------------------------------------- Second Enemy - Your next Enemy is a little tougher. Its got 4 arms and likes doing a Dancing Revolving Slash,But that slash is easy to Issen. It likes to do a dashing attack sometimes as well, but I don't recommend trying to issen that attack. Try to issen its dancing slash, its easy to see coming and is easiest to time your attack to.Just wait for it to get near you, and when it spins and is facing you, that's your time to issen. ----------------------------------------- Third Enemies - Next you get to fight your Last 2 Enemies Together, which makes it more difficult.Just wait for which ever one gets closest to you, and try to issen it using the above tacticts. Not much I can really say about it,other than good luck, and concentrate on 1 if you can. Try Kicking each of them while running around until one Attacks you. ------------------------------------------ Fourth Enemy - This guy is a tough one at first. He's the Big dude in the Red Armor with the big club. You have to Issen him twice, once for his armor, and another to kill him. You can Issen him with a Deflect Critical the first time to remove the armor. I prefer Issening his Overhead Slam, because its easiest to see coming. When you do see it coming, you may want to try to do a Strafe Issen, meaning strafe to the side as your swinging. If you time it right, you can chain issen him to kill him instantly instead of trying to Issen him again. The Shippu Works good with that, because sometimes you'll do 2 issens without even trying. The best time to swing is just as his club is coming down. --------------------------------------------- Fifth Enemy - The Ball and Chain Giant can be a real pain to Issen because of his attacks. He also does a lot of damage if you get hit by it. The best time to issen him is when he swings his ball around his side. Stand back from him about 1 step out of his range, and when the ball gets close to where you should be, then swing. Hopefully you'll get him.If not, run backwards and try again.Just watch out for his ball thrust move. --------------------------------------------- Advanced Mode: First Enemy - First Enemy is a guy with a huge triangular sword. Despite his size, he is easy to Issen. Just stand back about the distance you start at when he first appears. He should try a slamming type attack with his sword. Just as the sword reaches a little bit above where your head should be, swing. If you don't get him, stand back again and then wait for another attack. Always wait till the weapon starts moving towards you to swing, or else you'll swing to early. ----------------------------------------------- Second Enemy - The Second Enemy is a Big Monkey Dog thing, also called Zmoh by Guildenstern. There is an easy tactic for this thing, and you'll never get hit if you use it. Stand right next to one of its arms, while holding down R1 to target it. Doing this causes him to do an Arm Swing, and when he does, just strafe to his back leg area and swing. If you miss, get right back next to his arm and try again. This takes a little practice, but its the easiest way I found to issen him. -------------------------------------------------- Third Enemy - Green Energy Warrior, this is the one I get the most questions about. Its a suit of Armor with a Green Glow around it. They are quick, and have a Long range attack also, but that's their downfall. Stand a little ways away from him, while holding R1 to target him. This should cause him to use his fireball attack, which is the easiest attack to Issen. When he starts to do it, his sword will glow.Run right up to him and wait. Just as he releases his fireball, and I mean as soon as he does, swing. If you time it right, he'll be dead, if not, then you'll get hit with it. -------------------------------------------------- Fourth Enemy - Same as the Green Energy Warrior, except this one has a Red Glow around it,and is bigger. He can shoot his fireballs a little faster, but I still Recommend the same tactics against him as the other warrior. ---------------------------------------------------- Fifth Enemies - Now you have to fight the Big guy with the Triangular Sword and the Giant Monkey Dog thing at the same time. I wont lie, this one is hard to do. I recommend trying to get the monkey first, because he is the most annoying, mainly because of his belly flops that he does.Plus, if you stay far enough away from the big guy, He doesn't try hitting you as much. But if your able to kill the big guy quick, then do that and then just worry about the monkey. Which ever you kill first, just use the above tactics on the one remaining. ----------------------------------------------------- Sixth Enemies - Here it is, the final battle. This is all that stand between you and the Black Vest. You got to kill both the Energy Suit Warriors at the same time. Believe it or not, its not as hard as your last one,at least it wasn't for me, because if you stay far enough away from them, they both try using their fireballs. So just run up to which ever one starts first, and try to Issen them when they release the fireballs. You probably wont get them the first time, probably not the second time either, but eventually you will. You can also try to Issen their Lunges, Just wait for their arms to get all the way back, and just as they move them forward, you swing also. This takes a little more practice than the Above Tactic. After you kill them both, you may want to save in order to not have to do that all over again. ========================================== Frequently Asked Questions: Q: Do I have to be Targeting the enemy to Issen it A: No, but you do have to be within striking distance of the Enemy Q: What's the Best weapon to use in the Training A: I prefer the Shippu or the Tensos, because they are fast, but it depends on the person playing. Q: Why can't I do it? A: It takes practice, Soon you'll get.Just don't give up. Q: The Reward is the Black Vest, what's that do? A: It allows all your hits to become Issens, But each swing takes 30-50% of your current life each time.It doesn't work against bosses though. ============================================================ Credits/thanks: Capcom for Making such a great game. Me For writing this guide. Kaluroth for his tip on removing the Armor from the guy with the big club. |
