2. INTRODUCTION

This FAQ contains the location of all the ecospirits in Onimusha 3. Ecospirits
are green-bluish spirits which are needed in order to use Ako's special vests.
Some of the ecospirits are hidden rather well; Hopefully, this guide will make
searching for them much easier. NOTE: This guide contains spoilers.

3. ECOSPIRIT LOCATIONS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This section is divided by area. Because backtracking is a rare occurence in
Onimusha 3 (the game is quite linear), the player should get all the ecospirits
in an area as soon as possible. If an area in the game is not listed here, it
means that place does not contain any ecospirits. Now, on to the locations.
Mt.Hiei  (2 spirits)
----------------------------
01   -In the area where Jacques meets (past) Samanosuke. Break open one of the
wooden boxes inside the burnt wooden house to reveal the ecospirit.
02   -On top of the main gate. After opening the gate, break the box on the
right to reveal an oni firefly. Use it to whip yourself up to the top.
From there, just break the wooden box to get the ecospirit.
Sewers   (4 spirits)
----------------------------
03   -Inside the large power room. Break the green drum can near the door to
obtain the ecospirit.
04   -Again, inside the large power room. This time go to the corner of the
room that contains a red chest. Across from that chest is a green drum
can in a narrow hall. Break it open to get the spirit.
05   -Same room as ecospirit 3 and 4. This time, climb up the ladder to reach
the upper platform. Look for a genma sac hanging from the ceiling. Shoot
it down; it will drop an ecospirit.
06   -Area at the end of the "rolling cleaning ball" event. Shoot down the
genma sac located above the green drum can to get an ecospirit.
Sakai   (5 spirits)
----------------------------
07   -Outside the merchant's shop. Hit the head of one of the wooden tiger
statues. Doing so will reveal an ecospirit.
08   -Inside the merchant's shop. The ecospirit is hidden inside a jar located
near the door.
09   -Inside the merchant's shop. This ecospirit is hidden inside the wooden
tiger statue's head. The tiger is very close to the jar containing spirit
8. Most likely, you will get both spirit 8 and 9 with just one strike.
10,11-Inside a room located in the pier area. The room entrance is a bit hard
to see (it's near a set of stone stairs and is obscured by a couple of
barrels). The room contains four jars, a puzzle box, and a soul shrine.
Two of the jars contains ecospirits.
Notre Dame   (6 spirits)
----------------------------
12   -Outside the Notre Dame Cathedral. Hit the green trash can on the right
to obtain the ecospirit.
13   -Inside the Cathedral. Search for a couple of jars located between an
angel statue and a door structure. One of the jars contains an ecospirit.
14   -Inside the Cathedral. Hit the jars located on the left side of the large
yellow stand/altar to reveal an ecospirit.
15   -Area right after entering the raised yellow stand. Just above the creepy
headstone with the skull engraving are two genma sacs. One sac contains
an herb, the other has the ecospirit.
16   -In the area where you obtain the Anti-dark Charm. Look for a red chest
near a deep pit. A genma sac is hanging on the ceiling right above the
chest. Shoot it down to obtain the spirit.
17   -Same general area as ecospirit 16. This time, look for a red chest near
the door covered with light blue veins. Close to that red chest is a
genma sac hanging on the ceiling. Shoot it down to get the ecospirit.
Undersea Temple  (2 spirits)
----------------------------
Note: Only Samanosuke can obtain the ecospirits in this area.
18   -In a platform located on the upper floor (past). In this area,there are
six worn down boxes arranged in a corner. Break these to reveal an
ecospirit. Since you need to break the boxes down in order to obtain a
required item (R. Dragon Horn), it's highly unlikely you'll miss this
ecospirit.
19   -In the area containing the Chigo Axe orb. After Samanosuke restores the
power to the temple, use the nearby elevator to descend into a room. A
bunch of old crates blocks access to the Chigo Axe. Break those boxes to
obtain the ecospirit.
Boulogne Zoo   (7 spirits)
----------------------------
20   -Beginning area of the zoo. Break the green trash can found to the right
of the fountain to get the spirit.
21   -Outside the museum building. Strike the green trash can located right
across the door (It's also near a bunch of green crates with the Zmoh
monster on top.) for the spirit.
22   -In the area with the Panda cutout figure. Search for a green trash can
located in a corner. Hit it to get another ecospirit.
23   -On the upper level of the holding pit. Look for a green trash can between
a green door and a bench. The ecospirit is inside that trash can.
24   -Inside the Animal Research Center. In the room full of paintings, look
for a genma sac close to a green statue and a door. Shoot it down to
obtain the spirit.
25   -This spirit is also inside the room full of paintings. Shoot down the
genma sac hanging underneath a set of stairs.
26   -In the room where Henri is being held prisoner. Look for a genma sac
hanging in a corner of the room (It's difficult to see the sac.) Shoot it
down to get the ecospirit.
Mont-Saint Michell (9 spirits)
------------------------------
27   -Grand St. (present). IE. The area where Samanosuke starts in Mont. St.
Michell. There are two green trash cans located on the main street. The
one farther away from the save mirror has an ecospirit.
28   -Genma train platform area (past). The ecospirit is in a wooden box right
in front of the train. Have Jacques break it down.
29   -Area after Samanosuke unlocks the main gate (present). Hit the trash can
in the corner for the spirit. The trash can is located near a red chest.
30   -Area blocked by the sun gate (present). After Samanosuke opens sun
gate, strike the trash can beside the puzzlebox to get the ecospirit.
31   -Genma train platform area (present). Break open the green drum can beside
the train platform to obtain an ecospirit.
32   -Genma train platform area (present). Hit the trash can near the stairs
for another spirit.
33,34-Prison room (present). Break all the wooden boxes/drum cans in the back
of the room. You will get two ecospirits this way.
35   -After Jacques escapes the gas room deathtrap. The room after that area
has a single wooden box (near a hole and close to a door.) Break it to
get ecospirit #35.
Oni Temple (1 spirit)
------------------------------
36   -Inside the Oni Temple. Go to the room with a huge gap in the middle.
There is a difficult-to-see box to the left of the room entrance. Smash
the box to obtain the final ecospirit in the game.

4. FAQ

Well, no one really asked me anything yet. I just created questions that people
might ask that are related to this guide.
Q: Are there enough ecospirits for all of the vests?
A: Yes. Try adding up the number of ecospirits required by each vest:
Blue  =2 spirits       Yellow =5 spirits
Red   =2 spirits       Orange =6 spirits
Green =4 spirits       Purple =6 spirits
White =4 spirits       Black  =7 spirits
That totals 36 and there are 36 ecospirits available in the game. I checked
pretty thoroughly and I haven't found any additional spirits. So you
need to find all of them if you want the option of being able to use all of
the vests in a single game.
Q: Do you need all of the ecospirits in order to get the alternate ending?
A: No. The important factor here is having all eight Ako vests when you finish
the game. It doesn't matter if some of the vests were not fully injected
with ecospirits.
Q: Help, I can't do Issen/can't pass Issen training...
A: This doesn't have anything to do with the guide but it's probably the most
frequently asked question about the game. Sorry, can't help you with this
one. Try the boards or check some of the other FAQs.
