Either you are looking for some help or you are some sad person who goes around to FAQs and reads them for fun. Either way, I hope you enjoy reading my guide. ------------------------------ 1.1 Disclaimer, Copyright Info ------------------------------ This document is Copyright 2004 Tommy "Angelo Heartilly" Chambers. You are free to use this FAQ in any way as long as you don't make a profit off of it. If you want to use this FAQ on your site, then please email me at homicidal_bunny@hotmail.com. -End of disclaimer- This FAQ can currently be found here: www.gamefaqs.com www.cheathappens.com www.neoseeker.com www.ign.com Capcom Central ----------------- 1.2 Contacting Me ----------------- My email is homicidal_bunny@hotmail.com. You can email me about anything pretty much. If you find any errors, if you find any site besides the ones mentioned above posting my guide, if you have a question, if you have a suggestion, if you want to compliment/bash my guide, or if you just want to tell me your favorite color. It s'all good. Just make sure you include Onimusha FAQ in the subject so I don't delete it thinking it is junkmail. Oh and don't email me anything that will piss me off. Spam and viruses will earn you a sound beating. ----------------------------- 1.3 Using the Search Function ----------------------------- When you are looking for something specific, push ctrl + F to bring up the find window. Type what you are looking for and click "Find Next". This will let you find information quickly. ----------------------------- 1.4 Explanation of Story Mode ----------------------------- Most people agree that OBWs main draw is its VS mode. Crazy four way battles with power ups galore, it is one of the best multiplayer experiences on the PS2. But what about the Story Mode? Should you even bother playing it when 90% of the cutscenes are crap? Well I believe so. In Story Mode you will be able to greatly enhance the fun you have in VS Mode. You can unlock many cool characters and levels and in Custom VS you will be able to bring in your powered up characters and have intense high powered battles with your friends. And RPG nuts like myself will be unable to stop themselves from collecting all 95 items and maxing out all of the characters stats. So give it a try, don't limit yourself to plain old VS Mode. ------------------- 1.5 Version History ------------------- 7/27/04 - Been a while since my last update. Unfortunately theres not a whole lot to get excited about even though its been a month. I just made some corrections and added to the Frequent questions sections a little. Thanks to Kojiro Sasaki who provided most of the information for this update. 6/18/04 - Nearing this guides two month anniversary. My how the time flies. Added a little new content most of which was contributed by James Meldrum. Updated the Frequently Asked Questions part and took out a stupid question and put in one more worthwhile. Also have a description on how to unlock ALL of the stages and characters. 6/12/04 - Added in the power jewels list provided by Gen2000 after I lost the one that shin hiei zero gave me. Also put mkn on the credits list after I somehow forgot to put it on last time. Corrected some grammar and spelling issues too, some of them were pretty bad. Not sure what I was thinking when I typed some of those things. 6/7/04 - Here it is. The update I promised half a month ago is here. Basically everything in sections 5 and 6 is gotta see information that is hot off the press. This is probably the last big update but in later updates where I am just adding a few lines of information I will try to sensationalize it and act like its an entire new guide or something. Deal? 5/19/04 - ANOTHER small update. Sorry guys, these are probably getting annoying. Anyways, IGN should have this FAQ up pretty soon now too. Mwahahahaha... I'm slowly taking over the internet. 5/12/04 - Another update, I need to add another site on the list. You can go to www.neoseekers.com now and see this guide. You can also look at this guide from GameFAQs while looking at it at NeoSeekers! Fun, no? I also included the Bosses section which I pretty much have finished. I know all you Blade Warriors vets out there can send in better strategies than what I have got so email them in! 5/9/04 - Real quick update before I start on the big one. This FAQ can now be found on www.cheathappens.com. 5/8/04 - Sorry guys. Both of my computers caught a virus on the same day so I pretty much couldn't update for about a week. I decided to make a minor update correcting a few mistakes and stuff like that. I changed the story walkthroughs a little bit to cut down on the number of characters I use. I was going to try making some ASCII art but after about half an hour of wandering around aimlessly on Figlet I came to the conclusion that I had no idea what I was doing and I decided to just screw it. Can anybody explain to an idiot how to get an ASCII art making program? Anyways... that is about it. My eyes hurt horribly from the computer screen so I am going to stop talking now. 4/28/04 - Alright! I saw that no FAQs relating to the Story Mode had been submitted so I decided to make one myself. I got as far as to the end of the character walkthroughs in this part. I will probably update soon, like at the end of this week, with most of the rest of the stuff I plan on including. I suspect that some errors evaded my hawk-like eyes so if you see any be sure to email me. =========================================== 2. Basics of Story Mode =========================================== If you have already played Story Mode you probably should just skip over this chapter. Here we will cover general stuff like Treasure Chests and Souls. ------------------------------ 2.1 Controlling Your Character ------------------------------ The ingame tutorial can explain this a lot better than I can. It is an excellent way to learn all of the moves and you can even earn a few experience souls doing it. -------------------- 2.2 Getting Stronger -------------------- One of the main reasons you are playing Story Mode is to get some strong as hell characters, right? Well to get stronger you have to absorb experience souls from enemies. They are a sort of light red color and they are unleashed from the dead bodies of your enemies. Press the O button to absorb them and when you are in the Status Screen you can enhance your stats. The stats are: Strength - Affects amount of damage you do with physical attacks Defense - Affects amount of damage you take Magic - Affects amount of damage you do with elemental attacks. You can level each stat up thrice. To take one stat to level two it takes about six bars of experience souls, to level three 12 bars, and to MAX level 26 bars. ------------------------------ 2.3 Character Selection Screen ------------------------------ When you first go in Story Mode, you will be asked to load/create a save file. Just do what the windows tell you to do and then you will end up in the character selection screen. Characters that you have unlocked will show up on this screen and you can perform various actions here. If you click on the word "Controls" at the top of the screen it will show you all of the actions you can do in combat and will let you choose between different controller setups. Also at the top is "Back" which lets you return to the main menu. Click on a character and then choose a difficulty level to start a game. If you click on a character that you already beat Story Mode with you will get two options. "Continue" which lets you go through that characters story again keeping their stats or "Start" which will reset a characters stats. --------------------- 2.4 Difficulty Levels --------------------- There are five levels of difficulty to choose from: Beginner, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Expert. Which one you choose obviously affects the strength of your enemies. But they also have a say in other matters: - Enemies with higher difficulty will drop more experience souls. - You can only buy items with Victory Souls if you are in Normal difficulty or higher. Beginner and Easy don't let you buy items but you do win a weak healing item for beating them each time. - You can not collect any equippable items unless you are in Normal difficulty or higher. - You can not enter the Phantom Realms unless you are in Normal difficulty or higher. - Some alternate stories and boss battles require you to be in Normal or higher ------------------------- 2.5 Resetting a Character ------------------------- There aren't a whole lot of reasons for you to want to reset a characters data. But if you do, here is what will happen: - That characters Strength, Defense, and Magic will go back down to level 1. - Vitality will also be reset to its unaltered amount and power jewels will be returned to your stash of items. - If that character was affecting another characters story by completing theirs, they won't affect it anymore. - Weapons and items found by that character will still be kept. - Other characters you unlocked by completing story mode with the reseted characters will still be kept. Thanks to Kojiro Sasaki and I believe somebody else on the message boards mentioned this, but anyways he told me that you get back your power jewels that you used on the character if you reset them. So its ok if you reset them for whatever reason. --------------------- 2.6 The Status Screen --------------------- Between chapters you will be sent to a menu with a picture of your character on the right side of the screen. This is where you will strengthen your character and eventually develop him into an unstoppable killing machine. There is a list of options on the left side of the screen, here are their purposes: Enhance - Raise Strength, Defense, and Magic with experience souls you have collected. Weapon - Equip your character with other weapons you have found in story mode. If you are using a demon character you might also be able to push right on the D-pad and switch from different costumes for your character. Item - Equip your character with accessories you have found in story mode. You can also use consumable items by pushing right on the D-pad. Save - Save your game. Next - Continue on to the next chapter. Also depending on what controller you use you can rotate the image of your character with the right analog stick or with the square and circle buttons. I use a controller without analog sticks with this game because it has a better D-pad for me, so thats why the square and circle buttons rotate a characters image for me. My apologies to everyone for making a fool out of myself and saying it was different versions of the game! -------------------- 2.7 Chapters/Battles -------------------- Most storys in OBW are ten chapters long. They send different challenges your way with five types of battles. To find out what challenge your current chapter is giving you just pause your game and it will say in the menu. The five types are listed below. Destroy all: No time limit, just kill all of the enemies. Since you have all the time in the world to do these you can mess around with your enemies a little and you don't have to take any unnecessary risks. Defeat X enemies in X minutes: You have to defeat a certain number of enemies before the clock reaches zero. Unless you are playing Hard or Expert you don't need to worry about the clock hardly at all since it is quite lenient in most battles. Absorb X victory souls in X minutes: Same as above except now when you defeat enemies you have to absorb the big bright white souls that come out sometimes. The trick is that many of the enemies don't drop victory souls. If you are fighting humans, the warriors in red armor and mini-bosses are the only ones who will drop victory souls. If you are fighting demons, Zombies and mini-bosses will drop victory souls. This also holds true in other types of battles. Partner battles: Same as destroy all except now you have a computer controlled buddy fighting alongside you. It is super cool to see Jubei and Samanosuke guarding eachothers backs, but unfortunately these battles create problems. Just about everytime an enemy dies you will have to have a soul absorbing fight with your partner for the experience souls. And if you made the killing blow they might quickly absorb the souls before you have a chance to recover from your attack. These battles are also very easy even though hordes and hordes of enemies are sent at you. *UPDATE* It seems I have made an ass out of myself with that description of a partner battle. Any experience and victory souls your partner wins will be transfered to you after the battle is over. Thus partner battles totally ROCK! Thank you SinisterSamurai for pointing out my ignorance once again. Boss battles: Your objective here is to kill your powerful opponent. For more information on these visit section 4. ---------------------- 2.8 Powerups and Souls ---------------------- The success of many battles depends on the usage of items and souls you collect in battle. You can collect powerups by attacking treasure chests that appear throughout a level. To pick up a powerup just stand over it and press square. Unfortunately all of the really weird powerups from VS mode are unavailable in story mode. All of the weapons in story mode are just throwable ones. Here are the available powerups and my impressions of them. They are rated from one star to five stars with five being the best. Kunai Dagger * Its almost useless. Your basic weapon, you throw it and hit one enemy. If you get a chance to pick it up and throw it at an archer you could probably kill him but otherwise just don't bother picking it up. Shuriken ** Slightly more useful than the Kunai Dagger. You throw three (five if you are a ninja) shurikens at the enemy and they spread out a bit so you have the opportunity to hit more than one enemy. Still not that useful. Red Shuriken ** Does ok damage and it tracks its target so it has a pretty good chance of hitting if you are locked on to the enemy. Magic Disk **** Hits everyone for good damage. Great for weakening groups of enemies. My favorite of the three elements would be fire since the computer sucks at dodging it. Bomb *** Explodes upon contact and damages enemies close by. Does nice damage and if the enemies are bunched up you can hit a lot of them. You can also detonate it with a hadoken that travels close to the ground. This is a good way to surprise your enemies. Time Bomb ** Throw it and it will land and a counter will start. When it reaches zero the bomb will blow up, damaging anybody nearby (including you). If the counter has started you can throw it again and knock off a few seconds. So grab it when it has a few seconds left and you might be able to make use out of it. Same as the bomb you can detonate it with a hadoken. Flash Bomb * For you it reverses controls. For the computer it seems to lower their AI a bit. Besides bosses there isn't much reason to use this since you can kill normal enemies with ease with or without the Flash Bomb. Stun Bomb **** Stuns anybody it hits for several seconds. If you are fighting four or five enemies at once this will be a major help and against single enemies it lets you set up a combo or run off to get more powerups. Silence **** Person hit with it can't do any attacks. Great against bosses, ok against regular enemies. Health Recovery ***** Raises your health. Obviously these are awesome powerups since they help keep you alive. Special Recovery ** I don't know about you guys but I am almost never low on special gauge. If you were using someone with a long range gunshot like Megaman it might be helpful but otherwise it isn't that great. Question Mark Vase ** When you break the vase souls come out. The problem is they could be either good or bad souls. Souls can be absorbed by pressing the circle button. If another person tries to absorb the soul at the same time a sort of tug of war game ensues. Press the circle button rapidly to absorb the soul with more power. Watch out when absorbing souls since it leaves you wide open for attacks and it draws computer controlled enemies to attack you. If you use the turbo feature on some controllers you will be able to absorb souls with a lot of power. Just keep in mind that this is illegal in tournament play and using it against your friends might earn you a buttwhooping in real life. Souls appear when you attack or are attacked and come out of the Question Mark Vases. Elemental Orbs come out of treasure chests. Health Soul **** Yellow souls. They don't restore your health as much as the powerups but they are still good. Wind Orb **** The elemental orbs are actually powerups but I consider them souls. The wind orb does big damage to all enemies close to you on the same level. It is hard to see it coming and it does good damage. The wind orb is green. Fire Orb **** There are variations between different characters fire spells but they are all mostly pretty good. They hit enemies in a straight line for good damage. Fire orbs are red. Lightning Orb *** As cool as it looks it isn't very good compared to Wind and Fire. You can only hit one enemy with all of the slashes, if enemies are packed together you might hit a second guy a few times too. And the initial strike can be blocked and issened by the enemy. Against the computer you stand a fair chance at connecting but against a good human it is going to be hard to hit them. These are blue. Poison Soul -* DO NOT ABSORB THESE! They are bad souls and will drain your health. They are purple. Invincibility ***** These are sort of white-ish souls. They make you impervious to damage for a short time. I recommend absorbing these since the advantages outweigh the risks (particularly because there are no risks). Speed Souls ** Either speeds your characters running speed up or slows it down. Absorb these if you want but you mostly just break even. Blue souls that are bigger than lightning orbs. Kojiro Sasaki pointed out to me that the Yin and Yang versions look different. I still have trouble discerning between the two so I just leave them be but heres his tips: - Yin souls (positive effects) has some kind of circle symbol around them and they move slower than Yang souls. - Yang soul (negative effects) has some kind of triangle symbol around them and they move faster than Yin souls. Power Souls ** Either makes your attacks stronger or weaker. Again, it helps or hurts you about equally. These are red and larger than fire orbs. Special Souls ** Raises or lowers the amount in your special gauge. Green souls that are bigger than wind orbs. Victory Souls Absorbing a number of these is the requirement to win some battles in VS and Story. You can also purchase items with these from the Gate Keeper. You can buy stuff from him at the end of each run through story mode and if you go through Phantom Realm 1 or 2 you can buy stuff from him after leaving. Here is what he sells: Item Cost Description Herb 3 Heals a little HP when used in the status screen Medicine 5 Heals more HP when used in the status screen Secret Medicine 10 Heals all HP when used in the status screen Talsiman 15 When you die in battle it revives you to full HP Power Jewel 30 Use this in the status screen to raise your max HP Equipment 100-200 Equippable items, different for each character =========================================== 3. Character Walkthroughs =========================================== Ok, here we go! I'm not going to write a strategy for every single battle since they are all quite like eachother. Just refer to section 2.7 for some tips on how to beat a battle. The setup looks like this: (Chapter name) (Chapter location) (Objective) (difficulty) I will also abbreviate stuff. Destroy 20 in 3 means kill 20 enemies in 3 minutes. Absorb 12 in 4 means absorb 12 victory souls in 4 minutes. And after a characters normal story path I will list alternate story paths and how to get them. Alternate story paths are usually the same first four chapters but chapter 5 and onwards you will get different battles and different cutscenes. -------- 3.1 Ekei -------- He is a bit slow but still a good character to use. Note that if you press the attack button rapidly he will strike the enemy several times very quickly. This is a good way to lower an enemies special gauge. And although Ekei is a fun character I hate him because Capcom ****ed with his voice too much. He sounds like he is from Texas or something. Normal Path Chapter 1 Ankoku-ji Temple Destroy all enemies * Chapter 2 Bamboo Forest Defeat 20 in 3 * Chapter 3 Yagyu Village Absorb 7 in 2 * Chapter 4 Silver Grass Plain Defeat Ozric *** Chapter 5 Imajo Village Destroy all enemies ** Chapter 6 Mystic Forest Defeat 30 in 3 ** Chapter 7 Pipe Corridor Absorb 12 in 4 *** Chapter 8 Three-story Pagoda Defeat Hecuba **** Chapter 9 Upper Tower Destroy all enemies **** Chapter 10 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga ***** Alternate Path To access this path play through Ekei's story a second time and use no continues before Chapter 5. Chapter 5 Waterfall Defeat other Ekei ** Chapter 6 Imajo Village Team up with Jubei * Chapter 7 Three-story Pagoda Defeat Hecuba **** Chapter 8 Upper Tower Destroy all enemies **** Chapter 9 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga ***** ----------- 3.2 Gargant ----------- From what I hear he is uber badass and has a nasty fire elemental attack. James Meldrum informed me that he can also buy lots of cheap power jewels and for half price he can purchase a lot of the weapons and accessories that other characters can buy when playing through their stories. I can't get Gargant just yet so Gen2000 provided Big G's story path for me. Normal Path Chapter 1 Ancient Castle (Flame) Destroy all enemies Chapter 2 Mist Valley Absorb 10 in 2 Chapter 3 Imajo Village Defeat 30 in 4 Chapter 4 Ankoku-ji Temple Defeat Ekei Chapter 5 Yagyu Village Destroy all *** Chapter 6 Waterfall Absorb 8 in 5 ** Chapter 7 Oni Island Destroy all ** Chapter 8 Ancient Castle (Moon) Defeat Oyu ** Chapter 9 Oni Tortoise Destroy all *** The demons have three possible final battles. Thanks to Gen2000 you will know the correct requirements of how to get each one, rather than my incorrect explanation. See the end of Section 3 to get the different possible final battles. -------------- 3.3 Giramusaid -------------- Giramusaid isn't a bad character. Being a ninja he is pretty fast and his neutral charge (hold square and release while standing still) is pretty awesome. But IMO he is second to the human ninjas, Kaede and Kotaro. Normal Path Chapter 1 Ancient Castle (Flame) Destroy all enemies * Chapter 2 Mist Valley Absorb 5 in 3 * Chapter 3 Imajo Village Defeat 30 in 5 ** Chapter 4 Ankoku-ji Temple Defeat Ekei ** Chapter 5 Yagyu Village Destroy all *** Chapter 6 Waterfall Absorb 8 in 5 ** Chapter 7 Oni Island Destroy all ** Chapter 8 Ancient Castle (Moon) Defeat Oyu ** Chapter 9 Oni Tortoise Destroy all *** The demons have three possible final battles. See the end of Section 3 to get the different possible final battles. ---------------- 3.4 Gogandantess ---------------- He isn't as good as some of the other swordsmen but he is still the coolest looking fighter out there. =P Normal Path Chapter 1 Ancient Castle (Flame) Destroy all enemies * Chapter 2 Mist Valley Absorb 5 in 3 * Chapter 3 Imajo Village Defeat 30 in 5 ** Chapter 4 Ankoku-ji Temple Defeat Ekei ** Chapter 5 Yagyu Village Destroy all *** Chapter 6 Waterfall Absorb 8 in 5 ** Chapter 7 Oni Beach Destroy all ** Chapter 8 Ancient Castle (Moon) Defeat Oyu ** Chapter 9 Oni Tortoise Destroy all *** The demons have three possible final battles. See the end of Section 3 to get the different possible final battles. Alternate path This could actually be considered Gogandantess's normal path but it is so abnormal that I think it is better to consider it an alternate path. On your first play through with Gogandantess you will have a three chapter long story, explaining a little about the history of the Onimusha world. Chapter 1 Ice Chamber Destroy all * Chapter 2 Oni Island Defeat Magoichi *** Chapter 3 Pipe Corridor Defeat Jubei *** --------- 3.5 Grunt --------- Agh... Grunt sucks. His attacks are slow and everything about him is painfully average. He isn't even likeable as a character, the way he whines before battle and brags after. Do yourself a favor and get him to level 3 to unlock Musashi and then never touch him again. Normal path Chapter 1 Yagyu Village Destroy all * Chapter 2 Bamboo Forest Absorb 5 in 3 * Chapter 3 Waterfall Defeat 30 in 5 ** Chapter 4 Silver Grass Plain Defeat Ozric *** Chapter 5 Imajo Village Defeat all ** Chapter 6 Ankoku-ji Temple Absorb 8 in 5 ** Chapter 7 Pipe Corridor Destroy all *** Chapter 8 Oni Island Defeat Gogandantess ** Chapter 9 Upper Tower Destroy all **** Chapter 10 Demons World Defeat Nobunaga ***** -------- 3.6 Jaid -------- Jaid doesn't have a lot going for them besides fast attacks. I still love them though! Especially teh blue ones! Their Blood Sword is pretty good, it heals Jaid's health when you hit the enemy. --------- 3.7 Jubei --------- Most people say that Jubei pales in comparison to Samanosuke. I don't really care though, Jubei is still my favorite of the two. He is a solid character and he has access to some great weapons. Normal Path Chapter 1 Yagyu Village Destroy all * Chapter 2 Waterfall Absorb 5 in 4 * Chapter 3 Bamboo Forest Defeat 20 in 2 ** Chapter 4 Silver Grass Plain Defeat Ozric ** Chapter 5 Imajo Village Collect 10 in 3 ** Chapter 6 Ankoku-ji Temple Destroy all *** Chapter 7 Pipe Corridor Defeat 30 in 5 **** Chapter 8 Three-Story Pagoda Defeat Hecuba *** Chapter 9 Upper Tower Destroy all *** Chapter 10 Demons World Defeat Nobunaga **** Alternate Path To take this path beat story mode with Kaede at least once and then play past chapter 4 with Jubei without using any continues. Chapter 5 Mist Valley Absorb 12 in 5 ** Chapter 6 Mystical Forest Partner Battle ** Chapter 7 Sea Vessel Defeat 30 in 5 *** Chapter 8 Imajo Village Destroy all *** Chapter 9 Three-Story Pagoda Defeat Hecuba *** Depending on which difficulty you are on, there is an extra chapter in Jubei's alternate path. Play on Normal difficulty or above and Chapter 10 will let you team up with Samanosuke and he will join with you for the last two chapters. Playing on Easy or Beginner difficulty will skip the Sliver Grass Plain battle and you will go right to the Upper Tower and fight that by yourself. On Easy or Beginner difficulty Chapter 10 Upper Tower Destroy all *** Chapter 11 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga **** On Normal or above difficulty Chapter 10 Silver Grass Plain Partner Battle *** Chapter 11 Upper Tower Partner Battle *** Chapter 12 Demon's World Partner Battle (Defeat Nobunaga) ** -------------- 3.8 Jujudormah -------------- Ugh... Even if Jujudormah was a good fighter I couldn't recommend using her. She is just disgusting as hell. Imagine a Miss Piggy who has been beaten on mercilessly with the ugly stick. As a fighter she isn't very good. She controls like Ekei except she doesn't have as good as range with some of her attacks. Her charge attack while in a ready position (release square while holding R1) has a surprisingly long range for her short weapon. You might be able to fool someone into thinking they are safe and then suddenly whack them with that charge attack. You can also use her umbrella to slow your descent to the ground when jumping, just hold X. Normal Path Chapter 1 Ancient Castle (Flame) Destroy all enemies * Chapter 2 Mist Valley Absorb 5 in 3 * Chapter 3 Imajo Village Defeat 30 in 5 ** Chapter 4 Ankoku-ji Temple Defeat Ekei ** Chapter 5 Yagyu Village Destroy all *** Chapter 6 Waterfall Absorb 10 in 5 ** Chapter 7 Oni Island Destroy all ** Chapter 8 Ancient Castle (Moon) Defeat Oyu ** Chapter 9 Oni Tortoise Destroy all *** The demons have three possible final battles. See the end of Section 3 to get the different possible final battles. ------------ 3.9 Juju-Ran ------------ A nice improvement from Jujudormah, this is the seductive Jujudormah in her younger, slightly more attractive years. She isn't all looks though, she is a great fighter too. Her rushing attack is definetly in my opinion the best in the game. Her weapons also cause status effects which make her good at hit and run tactics. She can use her umbrella for floating like regular Jujudormah except a little better because she isn't a huge fatass. ---------- 3.10 Kaede ---------- Like the other ninjas, Kaede is a good choice for those who like speedy characters. I don't really like her fire special and in my opinion she doesn't compare to Kotaro but she is still a good character to use. Normal Path Chapter 1 Bamboo Forest Destroy all * Chapter 2 Three-Story Pagoda Absorb 6 in 3 * Chapter 3 Upper Tower Defeat 20 in 4 ** Chapter 4 Mystical Forest Defeat Jujudormah ** Chapter 5 Imajo Village Absorb 12 in 4 ** Chapter 6 Ancient Castle (Moon) Defeat 30 in 4 *** Chapter 7 Sea Vessel Destroy all *** Chapter 8 Oni Island Defeat Gogandantess *** Chapter 9 Ice Chamber Defeat 30 in 4 **** Chapter 10 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga **** Alternate Path Beat Samanosuke's story at least once and then play to past Chapter 4 without using continues will net you this story. Chapter 5 Mist Valley Defeat other Kaede ** Chapter 6 Ankoku-ji Temple Defeat 30 in 3 *** Chapter 7 Silver Grass Plain Destroy all *** Chapter 8 Ancient Castle (Moon) Partner battle ** Chapter 9 Oni Island Defeat Gogandantess *** Chapter 10 Ice Chamber Defeat 30 in 4 **** Chapter 11 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga **** ------------ 3.11 Keijiro ------------ Keijiro is a pretty good fighter. Like Ekei he has a long range with his attacks and his hadoken sends two blasts at the enemy. He is pretty slow though. Normal Story Chapter 1 Imajo Village Destroy all * Chapter 2 Bamboo Forest Defeat 10 in 2 * Chapter 3 Three-Story Pagoda Absorb 5 in 2 * Chapter 4 Mystical Forest Defeat Jujudormah ** Chapter 5 Ankoku-ji Temple Defeat 30 in 4 *** Chapter 6 Ancient Castle (Moon) Destroy all *** Chapter 7 Sea Vessel Absorb 10 in 3 ** Chapter 8 Oni Island Defeat Gogandantess *** Chapter 9 Ice Chamber Defeat 40 in 5 **** Chapter 10 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga **** Alternate Path Keijiro's alternate path requires you to beat the game at least once with Kaede and then make it past Jujudormah without using any continues. Thankfully his alternate path actually features him in some of its cutscenes! Chapter 5 Mist Valley Partner battle ** Chapter 6 Oni Tortoise Destroy all *** Chapter 7 Oni Island Defeat Gogandantess *** Chapter 8 Ice Chamber Defeat 40 in 5 **** Chapter 9 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga *** ----------- 3.12 Kojiro ----------- Ok, I lied. Gogandantess isn't the coolest swordsman in the game. That title goes to Kojiro. This guy is seriously badass. He has a long red scarf reminiscent of Shinobi. And his fire special looks cool as hell. He also has some of the best quotes in the game and his voice sounds good unlike a lot of the other characters. As a fighter he is decent. He ranks about average in the samurai class but he is so cool you will want to use him anyways. Normal Path Chapter 1 Ankoku-ji Temple Destroy all * Chapter 2 Bamboo Forest Defeat 20 in 2 ** Chapter 3 Yagyu Village Absorb 12 in 5 ** Chapter 4 Mystical Forest Defeat Jujudormah ** Chapter 5 Imajo Village Destroy all *** Chapter 6 Ancient Castle (Moon) Defeat 40 in 4 *** Chapter 7 Sea Vessel Destroy all *** Chapter 8 Three-Story Pagoda Defeat Hecuba *** Chapter 9 Ice Chamber Absorb 12 in 4 *** Chapter 10 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga **** Like Musashi Kojiro has an extra chapter at the end of his story on the first play through. He faces off against Musashi, reliving their famous battle on the beach. Chapter 11 Oni Island Defeat Musashi **** ----------- 3.13 Kotaro ----------- Kotaro is my favorite character so this description of him might be a bit biased. His fire special is awesome, after you cast it it will follow its target until it hits them. His attacks are all fast but his range is pretty short thanks to his daggers. Normal Path Chapter 1 Ancient Castle (Moon) Destroy all * Chapter 2 Sea Vessel Defeat 10 in 2 * Chapter 3 Ice Chamber Absorb 6 in 3 * Chapter 4 Silver Grass Plain Defeat Ozric *** Chapter 5 Imajo Village Defeat 20 in 4 ** Chapter 6 Mystical Forest Destroy all ** Chapter 7 Pipe Corridor Absorb 12 in 4 *** Chapter 8 Three-Story Pagoda Defeat Hecuba *** Chapter 9 Upper Tower Destroy all **** Chapter 10 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga **** Alternate Path Kotaro's alternate path requires you to beat Kaede's story and make it past Chapter 4 without continueing. Chapter 5 Mist Valley Defeat other Kotaro ** Chapter 6 Bamboo Forest Partner battle ** Chapter 7 Three-Story Pagoda Defeat Hecuba *** Chapter 8 Upper Tower Destroy all **** Chapter 9 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga **** ------------- 3.14 Magoichi ------------- One of only three characters that uses guns as regular weapons in this game, Magoichi is a super cheap character. Using neutral and ready charge attacks will pretty much let you plow through all of the enemies. And when you upgrade to his more powerful weapons he just gets more and more overpowered. Normal Path Chapter 1 Silver Grass Plain Destroy all * Chapter 2 Bamboo Forest Defeat 20 in 3 ** Chapter 3 Mystical Forest Defeat Jujudormah ** Chapter 4 Mist Valley Absorb 8 in 3 ** Chapter 5 Ancient Castle (Moon) Destroy all *** Chapter 6 Sea Vessel Defeat 30 in 3 *** Chapter 7 Oni Island Absorb 12 in 4 *** Chapter 8 Three-Story Pagoda Defeat Hecuba *** Chapter 9 Upper Tower Destroy all **** Chapter 10 Demons World Defeat Nobunaga **** -------------- 3.15 Marcellus -------------- Marcellus is a giant slow killing machine. His attacks are powerful and the rest of his abilities are good enough. Unfortunately he is pretty much made obsolete by his other two forms, Power Marcellus and Speed Marcellus. Normal Story Chaper 1 Upper Tower Destroy all * Chapter 2 Mist Valley Absorb 7 in 4 * Chapter 3 Imajo Village Defeat 30 in 5 ** Chapter 4 Ankoku-ji Temple Defeat Ekei ** Chapter 5 Yagyu Village Destroy all ** Chapter 6 Waterfall Destroy all ** Chapter 7 Oni Island Destroy all *** Chapter 8 Ancient Castle (Moon) Defeat Oyu *** Chapter 9 Oni Tortoise Defeat 30 in 4 ** The demons have three possible final battles. See the end of Section 3 to get the different possible final battles. Alternate Path For Marcellus's alternate path get past chapter 4 in under 10 minutes. I'm pretty sure you need to be on normal difficulty or above as well. Chapter 5 Upper Tower Destroy all * Chapter 6 Three-Story Pagoda Defeat Keijiro ** Chapter 7 Ice Chamber Defeat Magoichi *** Chapter 8 Ancient Castle (Flame) Defeat Samanosuke *** Chapter 9 Ancient Castle (Moon) Defeat Oyu ** Chapter 10 Oni Tortoise Defeat 30 in 4 *** Chapter 11 Yagyu Village Defeat Jubei ** ---------------- 3.16 Megaman EXE ---------------- Megaman is one of the best fighters in Onimusha. While in the ready position Megaman can use his cannon for long range attacks. He is also pretty good at close range fighting and his two nondefault weapons, Muramasa Blade and Paladin Sword, are quite powerful. His neutral charge attack is quite powerful, despite the randomness of it. As far as I know there is a 20% chance at getting one of the five outcomes. Normal Story Chapter 1 EXE Destroy all * Chapter 2 Waterfall Absorb 6 in 3 * Chapter 3 Bamboo Forest Defeat 30 in 3 ** Chapter 4 Sliver Grass Plain Defeat Ozric ** Chapter 5 Imajo Village Destroy all *** Chapter 6 Ankoku-ji Temple Absorb 10 in 3 ** Chapter 7 Pipe Corridor Defeat 40 in 5 *** Chapter 8 Three-Story Pagoda Defeat Hecuba ** Chapter 9 Upper Tower Destroy all **** Chapter 10 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga **** ----------- 3.17 Musaid ----------- Musaid is pretty much the same as Giramusaid and Three-eyes except they look different. So in other words check Giramusaid if you want a description. ------------ 3.18 Musashi ------------ "Who the hell is this guy?" you might be asking. Well, he is a famous real life person from feudal Japan. As I understand he was the first person in Japan to master wielding dual swords. His fighting ability is pretty good. His attacks come out fast and he doesn't really have any weak points. Plus he is just super badass. "Nothing is more faithful than the steel of my sword" Best.Quote.Evar. Normal Path Chapter 1 Ankoku-ji Temple Destroy all * Chapter 2 Bamboo Forest Absorb 6 in 2 * Chapter 3 Yagyu Village Defeat 30 in 3 * Chapter 4 Silver Grass Plain Defeat Ozric *** Chapter 5 Imajo Village Destroy all **** Chapter 6 Ancient Castle (Moon) Abosrb 12 in 4 *** Chapter 7 Sea Vessel Destroy all *** Chapter 8 Oni Island Defeat Gogandantess *** Chapter 9 Ice Chamber Defeat 40 in 4 **** Chapter 10 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga **** On his first playthrough Musashi Miyamoto also has an extra chapter at the end. Those of you who have studied Japanese history will probably recognize this battle. Chapter 11 Oni Island Defeat Kojiro **** ------------- 3.19 Nobunaga ------------- Nobunaga is a pain to unlock but once you do you will be thankful you spent that time getting him. He kicks a lot of butt. His fire special is one of the best in the game and his stats are great. His default weapon absorbs health too so he is a _very_ good choice for VS. Mode. Unfortunately the Nobunaga you play as isn't invulnerable to hazards on the battlefield like his boss counterpart. Normal Path Chapter 1 Ancient Caslte (Flame) Destroy all ** Chapter 2 Ankoku-ji Temple Defeat Ekei ** Chapter 3 Imajo Village Absorb 8 in 3 * Chapter 4 Sea Vessel Defeat Magoichi *** Chapter 5 Oni Tortoise Defeat 30 in 3 *** Chapter 6 Three-Story Pagoda Defeat Keijro *** Chapter 7 Oni Island Absorb 12 in 3 *** Chapter 8 Ancient Castle (Moon) Defeat Oyu *** Chapter 9 Yagyu Village Destroy all *** The demons have three possible final battles. See the end of Section 3 to get the different possible final battles. -------- 3.20 Oyu -------- Oyu is an okay warrior but she doesn't really have any strong points. She has one of the coolest weapons though, the Wock and Ladle. It makes a satisfying whack noise everytime you hit an enemy with it. Normal Path Chapter 1 Ancient Castle (Fire) Destroy all * Chapter 2 Mystical Forest Defeat 20 in 3 ** Chapter 3 Ankoku-ji Temple Absorb 6 in 2 * Chapter 4 Silver Grass Plain Defeat Ozric ** Chapter 5 Imajo Village Destroy all *** Chapter 6 Oni Island Defeat 30 in 4 *** Chapter 7 Pipe Corridor Absorb 12 in 5 *** Chapter 8 Three-Story Pagoda Defeat Hecuba *** Chapter 9 Upper Tower Destroy all **** Chapter 10 Demon's World Defeat Nobunaga **** Alternate Path Go through Jubei's story and then proceed past Oyu's fourth chapter without using any continues to get this path. |
