where do you retrieve the c4 to blow the fort gates

i think it's at the end or close to it...when your defending the command bunker then it says retreat to inside of the command center, it gives you 15 seconds, i have made it a few times but i still fail...what is the catch do my men have to follow me???

On mission 4 it says i have to protect the fuel dumps, i have been playin the mission for the past 30 mins, have p***ed 2 or 3 checkpoints and now cannot do anything appart from kill al the enemys when the come, (they keep coming and coming).
