The Safafan Stronghold I'm assuming you are familiar with the game mechanics. If not the game explains how to perform actions as you go along, and when you acquire new abilities. After the lush fmv and the one act play following it, you will gain control of Raziel. You cant enter the other time streaming device yet, as you will need a Reaver inhancement found later to do it. The only option is to go through the two double doors ahead. Their is an Elemental Font here, you can use these later to imbue the Reaver with other attributes Dark Air Fire etc. Take the spear off the wall and use it to Kill the guards here, so you can go through the door ahead. You cant go through the barred door at the end just yet, so go through the other door. Here, when your done with the girl, go through the other door. In the courtyard after the bout of Nostalgia, kill the guards to open the barrier. Go through the archway that leads to the bars and change to the spectral realm. Phase through the bars into the next room. Here kill the two Sarafan warriors that attack, and go through the black gate at the end. After the long cutscene you will gain a new ability. You can now summon the Soul Reaver at will. You cant go back into Willaim the Justs crypt so go through the green door off this room. In the corridor test your new Reaver summoning ability and kill the guard here. Go through the door at the end. After the cutscene, kill the two guards that attack. This will raise the bars on the door above. Find the alcove that leads to the stairs and go up. Find the door on this floor and go through. Follow the corridor to the brown double doors and go through them. After the cutscene jump in the water. Find the Snake like object on the shore ahead, these are checkpoints as Raziel will explain. See the wheel near it. Pull it. This will open the floodgate below. See the door beyond you cant go through it yet, but you will be returning here later. Jump in the water and swim through the gate that has opened. Find the white structure ahead, this is a Savepoint as Raziel will explain, he's good at that. =========================== 2 To the Pillars of Nosgoth =========================== Dont worry about the stone object below you need the fire Reaver to use it. See the ledge to the left of it. High jump up for another cutscene. Glide to the next ledge kill the Sarafan here if you are weak and need nourishment. Follow the path until the music changes. Cross the bridge ahead and follow the path until you reach the alter on the left. Go up the hill until you reach the waterfall, activate the checkpoint here and go through the passageway to the left. Go up the stairs and cross the bridge for a cutscene. Follow the path until you reach the bolted door. Kill the girl here and pull and hold the lever near the door to open the bolts. Go ahead and open the door for a cutscene. ===================== 3 Beneath the Pillars ===================== After the cutscene go to the stone objects with the spectral symbol on them for another cutscene. Warp to the spectral plane to open the way behind the objects. Go up the stairs to meet some Sluagh. If you are familiar with Soul Reaver 1 they should be no problem. Feed until you are at full strength and warp to the physical realm using the planar portal ahead. After the cutscene activate the checkpoint ahead. Go to where the grass hangs ahead and follow the path until you reach the ornate door ahead. After the cutscene use the Reaver on the door to open it. The door will close behind you so carry on ahead. Follow the path until you reach the stone floor, go down the steps for an assignation with the Elder god. After the scene you can use the Savepoint ahead. =========== 4 The Swamp =========== Jump in the water and swim down to the Elder go, you will find a opening near the bottom. Swim through the opening and swim up to the waters surface and jump out. Go up the ledges until you can see the water ahead. Jump in. Swim to the bottom where the Elemental Fonts are. Find the opening and swim through, Swim armound to find the openings up and surface at the top. Here you will find another Time streaming device which you cant enter yet and a checkpoint which you should activate. Kill the Humans here if you need nourishment. The swamp here will slow you down, jump and glide across it. Jump along the rocks to the right until you reach the door press action to break it down. After the cutscene carry on through the swamp. When you see the soldier go to where he is and follow the path to the next Savespoint. Continue on until you reach the large tree. After the cutscene, climb up the wall nearby. Go up the hill until you reach the terrace. After the cutscene use the Reaver on the door to open it. It will close behind you follow the corridor and kill the undead at the end. Pick up the disc and use it on the door to open it. ======================= 5 The Dark Reaver Forge ======================= Phase through the gate at the end. Kill the Slaugh here and return to full strength. Go up the steps and right in the next room to reach the planar portal. You will be shown a sun disc which is need to solve the underlying puzzle here. You cant reach it yet so go back into the other room. Activate the checkpoint by the glowing door and go back to where you fought the Sluagh earlier. Climb up one of the walls here for a cutscene. After it climb up the stairs nearby and kill the annoying shamen. Grab a polearm if you want. Glide across the the pillar and then to the stairs go to the edge to see a big purple jewel. Drop into the room below. See the big dish on the square object pull it to open the sun door that reveals some bars. Phase through the bars. Follow the steps and jump down to the room below. Use the planar portal here. Climb the wall and turn the sun dial so it faces the room you were just in. Go back to the edge of the wall and pull the pillar to the middle this will reveal a dark platform. Use it to get to the next sundial. Look up and use a Reaver projectile on the glowing Reaver symbol. Pull the sundial so it faces the circular opening. Go through the circular opening and pull the golden object until the sun shines into the circular opening below. Drop down This time turn the dial to the other door and phase through the bars beyond it. Follow the path until you reach the room with the tree like pillar in the middle. Regain you strength and jump onto the platform ahead for the planar portal Climb up one of the walls and jump to the platform in the middle of the room. Change to the spectral realm and return to full strength, use the planar portal ahead. Defeat the undead and use the purple disc on the door to open it. In the next room look up to see a Reaver symbol on the roof. Summon the reaver and fire a projectile at the glowing area to activate the sun disc. See the top right pillar that glows, pull it back as far as it will go. Pull the sun dial so the light touches it. Use the pillar in this room to glide into the circular opening. Go through the tunnel to see the disc again grab it, Now go back to the glowing door it will open if you have the disc in you hands. Go to the end of the room and put the disc on the altar. Approach the dark energy to obtain the Dark Reaver, you can now use the Dark Elemental Fonts to imbue the Reaver with Dark. Now leave the Forge through the main door. After the scenes you have to make your way back to Sarafan Stronghold. ======================== 6 The Light Reaver Forge ======================== Make sure you have the Reaver imbued with Dark and swim through the big floodgate. In the other area Jump out of the water and use the Reaver on the dark door. The door will close behind you, follow the corridor to the next room. Here jump to the platform with the dark energy. After the cutscene use the Dark Reaver on the well to create a bridge. Cross the bridge and phase through the gate on the end. Regain your strength and activate the checkpoint and use the planar portal. Go through the ornate door at the end. You will be shown what you need to do, again this puzzle involves sundials. You cant go through doors on the left and the right so phase through the gate at the top of the room. Go to the very end of the hallway to find the planar portal. You will see an eyedol destroying a shamen, dont go near it, one blast will send you to the spectral realm. Go back to where you phased through the gate. See the sundial set into the ground, pull it back so it opens the door behind. Go through and kill the shield wielding shamen, take the shield and go back to where you phased through the gate. See the platform with the missing dial use the shield on it. Now go into the room the shield faces and turn the sundial until it opens the door behind. Follow the corridor and phase through the gate at the end. You will be shown what you need to do. Use the platforms here to reach the top, then fly into the next room above. Follow the corridor and use the planar portal at the end. Go back into the room where you used the platforms to get to the top. Use the Elemental Font here to imbue the Reaver with Dark. Open the gate using the Reaver. Follow the corridor back to where you turned the sundial. See the column with the black smoke use the Dark reaver on it to lower it. Go back and turn the sundial to face the other one then go and open the door across using the Dark Reaver. This will shatter one of the crystals. Go back to the room where you imbued the Reaver with dark. See the glowing block in the wall with the Reaver symbol on it, pull it back and use it to get into the room above. Go to the end of the hall and use the Dark Reaver on the well to create a bridge. Go across the bridge and follow the hall until you are attacked. Defeat the shield wielding shamen and use it on the platform below. Use the Dark Reaver to open the door, go back to where you pulled the the sundial set into the ground and pull it back so it lines up with the other sundials. This will shatter the other crystal and open the main gate. Remember where you saw the Eyedol go back there and use a Dark Reaver projectile to blind it. Take the star shaped object and bring it back to the crystal room. Place it on the altar at the bottom of the stars and after the scene plunge the Reaver into the energy to gain the power of Light. =============================== 7 Back to the future Stronghold =============================== To Leave the Forge use the Light Reaver on the gate then on the Dark Crystal above the entrance door. Outside you have to open the floodgate again. Go to where the Savepoint and use the Light Reaver on the Dark Crystal on the Stronghold wall. This will open the giant floodgate. Go back inside the Stronghold and follow the corridor into the next room. Kill the guards here to raise the bars on the ornate door. Now go back into William the Just's crypt to meet an old friend. Now imbue the Reaver with Light using the Font in this crypt and use the green door of it to reach the room with the murels of Raziel and the gang. The other green door here is now open, go through and kill the guards in the next room to raise the bars on the door. Go through the courtyard and look for the door that leads back to the time streaming room. Kill the guards in the next room to raise the bars then make your way to the time streaming room. Use a Light Reaver projectile on the crystal above the other time streaming device to open it. ================= 8 Ravaged Nosgoth ================= After the meeting you will be warped to another time however inhospitable you must carry on. Leave the time streaming chamber, you will be attacked by a new kind of enemy the Hylden. They have some interesting attacks but are no match for you. The only distressing thing about them is that they can follow you to the spectral plane if you are destroyed. Now all you have to do is leave the Stronghold. It's pretty easy to find the way out, if you are blocked by a Hylden gate simply destroy the Hylden guarding it to lower it. Once outside make your way to the Pillars of this era then to the Elder Gods chamber. In the next area imbue the Reaver with Dark and when you get to the well use the Reaver to create a bridge. When you get to the swamp approach the time streaming device door for a cutscene. Go through the swamp and you will discover a new passageway. Follow the path until you reach a locked gate, you will know you are on the right track if you are attacked by a Hylden. Use highjump to jump onto the platform above and pull and hold the switch to open the gate below. You are now in Uschtenhiem the birthplace of Yanos Andron. Theirs a chapel nearby where you can save. Beyond the chapel is the way out of the town. In the canyon you will see a structure jetting out of the wall, theirs a climable wall here you can use to press on. Before the checkpoint will be more Hylden again kill them to lower the barrier. After the scene ahead you have to get into the canyon beyond here, to do this jump in the water and swim over to where to Light Font it, then climb the walls and carry on to meet some BIG Hylden. In the next area, imbue the Reaver with Dark and use a Dark projectile on the Eyedol then go insdie the Forge. ====================== 9 The Air Reaver Forge ====================== After the scene go up the stairs, and on the next level imbue the Reaver with Light using the Font here. Step on the Light symbol on the ground and fire an Light projectile at the glowing stone ahead. Jump across and phase through the gate. Go around the corner to find a checkpoint and the planar portal. Carry on and kill the shield guardian and place the shield in the hole in the wall to open the door. In the next room you will be shown what you need to do. Jump down to the bottom and imbue the Reaver with Light, now ckimb up the wall with the Light symbol on it and use the Reaver on the door beyond. Defeat the shield guardian and use the shield on the door ahead. In the next room you will be given a demo. Climb the wall ahead and change to the spectral plane. Glide across and use the planar portal, You can climb the platform here to get above, then jump across the wind will carry you into the darkened area ahead. It's quite tricky, if you make it use a Light Reaver projectile on the light here to reveal a green heart, take it back to the circular room. Drop to the bottom, see the green crystal take the heart into the room beyond and use it on the mummy. Go back to the circular room, this time go through the Dark door. Inside the next room defeat the shield guardian and use the shield on the door ahead. Here is a slightly different puzzle, I bet you were hoping it would be the same as the last. As you enter the room an Eyedol will become active. You can use the Font nearby to imbue the Reaver with Dark if it kills you. Use the Dark Reaver on the well here to create a bridge, go over and pull the block from the wall. After a while the bridge will deminish kinda like Roadrunner eah. Push the block against the wall with the black smoke and use the Dark Reaver on it to open the door. Blind the Eyedol with a Dark projectile then imbue the Reaver with Light run back under the Eyedol and jump up the platform, let the air carry you to the darkened room and use a Light projectile on the crystal. Grab the heart and return to the circular room, go into the room leading off the red crystal and use the Heart on the mummy here too. Go back to the circular room, this time climb the Soul Reaver symbol wall and use the Reaver on the door ahead. Guess what, kill the shield guardian and use the shield on the door here. In the next room another demo will play, it's the same scenario again. Change to the spectral plane and use the platforms that appear to get up to the next level where the blowing guy is. Use the planar portal. Use the air current to get across to the next platform, then imbue the Reaver with Dark. Pull open the other mouth guy here to make him active and stop the other one. Glide back across and use a Dark Reaver projectile on the Eyedol. Use the Dark Reaver on the well to create a bridge, go back and imbue the Reaver with Light, then pull the mouth guy open to activate him again. Glide across and use the Light Reaver to open the door here. Walk across the bridge and use a Light Reaver projectile on the Light here. Grab the heart and bring it back to the circular room. Follow the path from the blue crystal and again use the heart on the mummy. Go back to the circular room, and imbue the Reaver with Light. You can now use the air current to fly up to gain access to the room above again. Fly onto the center platform with the air symbol, see the Statues with the crystals in their mouths, fire a Light Reaver projectile at one and a Dark one at the other. Plunge the Reaver into the energy to obtain the Air Reaver. See the strange circular marking on the floor ahead use the Air Reaver on it and glide straight up and go through the circular opening. When you get to the Reaver symbol door use an Air Reaver projectile on it to break it down. Leave the Air Reaver Forge. ========================= 10 The age of the Sarafan ========================= Now go all the way back to Uschtenhiem then to the swamp. Remember the time streaming device door after you emerge from the Elder gods caverns. Use a Light Reaver projectile on it to break the door down. Go inside the tunnel and use the Air Reaver on the Air well to create some steam. Use it to glide across to the other side. Follow the winding corridor into the time streaming device below. Use the device to return to a simpler time, how convienient. Exit the time streaming device to the swamp. You now have to go back to Uschtenhiem, go through the swamp until you hear Raziel lamenting over the vampire masacre. Search the area for an Air well, use it to get above. Go back to Uschtenhiem. Exit Uschtenheim and go to where Yanos Aurdrons retreat was derilict earlier. It's standing in this time. To get in jump down onto the ice and change to the spectral realm. Drop down the hole before the retreat and follow the tunnel here inside. Change back to the physical plane using the planer portal. Swim to the surface your now in Yanos Audrons Retreat. ======================== 11 Janos Audrons Retreat ======================== This whole area is rather difficult puzzle, but not when you know how. It involves pouring blood into the empty fountain to create bridges up. The first thing you need to do is blind the Eyedol here so you can grab the vase, to do this go up the steps and follow the path until you reach some symbols on the floor. Jump across and imbue the Reaver with Air. Jump back across and follow the snow filled tunnel outside. Use an Air Reaver projectile on the wall to break it down. Go outside and imbue the Reaver with Dark. Theirs an Air well along the Retreat wall you can use to get up to the Dark Font. Go back into the Retreat using the new entrance you made, then blind the Eyedol with a Dark Reaver projectile. Grab the vase and fill it with blood by using the fountain nearby, go back up the stairs and fill the empty fountain here with blood to create a bridge above. Go up to the next level and follow the corridor into the next area. Go down the steps and imbue the Reaver with Light. Go up the other set of steps, on this level is a fountain and two goblets, you cant glide whilst holding a goblet so you have to make a bridge to the other area. See the green glass, above and to the left and right of it are some crystals, use a Light Reaver projectile to turn the glass into a bridge. Cross the bridge and kill the shield guardian. Use the shield on the door ahead to open it. Fill a goblet and cross the glass bridge and fill the fountain to create a multitude of changes. BTW if you are ever caught in a fight with a Goblet simply duck and press action to drop it, they will return to where you go it from so you dont have to worry about losing them. Imbue the Reaver with Air using the Font across and go up the new steps and break down the door using an Air Reaver projectile. Now follow the path until you reach the next door and break that down to. Do not approach the shield guardian ahead, their is an Eyedol above it. Drop down to the ground floor and imbue the Reaver with Light. Go back up to this floor and use projectiles to shatter the crystals above the glass door. You have to hit both at once to open the door, to do this aim at them from the ledge beside the goblets on this floor. Take a goblet and fill it using the fountain below. Cross the new glass bridge and fill the empty fountain to create another bridge. Imbue the Reaver with Dark and use a projectile on the Eyedol mentioned earlier. Kill the shield guardian and use the shield on the door ahead. Fill the fountain here also and go up the new steps. Go left and gilde to the platform where the shield guardian is, kill him and use the shield on the door ahead, now do the same on the other side. Take a goblet and fill it below, then fill the fountain on this floor. You now have to break the glass ahead, to do this imbue the Reaver with Air using the Font below, return to this floor and shoot from where the brown windows are at the Air symbol to break it. Imbue the Reaver with Light and shoot at the crystals from the same spot, you have to get them both again. Now for the other bridge, this is easier, see the swinging crystal above, to get it stay on this level and follow the path back to where you made the last bridge by the brown windows. Carry on that bath and you will come to a clearing blast at them both using a Light projectile to lower the bridge. You must be psycic because you know what I'm going to say next, yes fill a goblet and fill the empty fountain on this level with it. Finally ascend the stairs to meet the man of mystery himself. ======================== 12 The Fire Reaver Forge ======================== I shed a tear for Janos I really did. This it without a doubt, on my part the most annoying of the Forges, so let's press on. Theirs a savepoint on this floor should you want to take a break. Drop to the bottom floor. Grab the torch at the end of the room and light it using the fire nearby. This will result in blood flooding the area, use the platforms nearby to jump to the back of the room and then up, make sure you keep the torch in your hand and light the next brazier. If it get's extinguished you can repeat the process. This will lower the Air Font and raise the Light one. Swim over and imbue the Reaver with light. Swim back to where you lit the Brazier earlier and look up. Hit the big crystal in the roof with a Light projectile. This will lower the blood again. Go back down and imbue the Reaver with Air, after a whlie the blood will raise again. Swim up and plunge the Reaver into one of the Air wells to raise the air platforms. Go back to the brazier, their are some torches nearby, light one, and use the air currents to get across to the next brazier. It's tricky buy you can try at infinitum. This will raise the blood even further. Now here's the hard part. Swim across and imbue the Reaver with Light. Swim back to the brazier and hit at the crystal above with a Light projectile. Take a torch and light it, now use the air currents dotted around to make you way back to the altar with the statue that looks like Raziel Use the torch on the altar to light it, then plunge the Reaver into the energy to obtain the Fire Reaver. Use it to open the exit outha here. =========================== 13 The Blood Reaver beckons =========================== After the scene that folows all you have to do is return to Sarafan Stronghold. I suggest changing to the Air Reaver before you get to the Elders area. Their is no water in the first area in this era. You will need the Air Reaver to activate the wells found here to get up and out of the Elders chamber. When you get to the stronghold outside it is a Fire well, use the Fire Reaver on it to melt the ice nearby. Use a Light Reaver projectile on the crystal as before to enter the stronghold. Go through the first corridor into the next room. Here kill the guards to open the barrier ahead. Go through the door and the next corridor into the next room. After the scene the catalyst of Blood Omen, you are in possession of the Blood Reaver, it's now time to kick proverbial A$$. Enter the next room to be accosted by Malcahia and Zephon. They should be no match for you, afterall you are now imortal. Go into the next room for a renunion with Dumah and Rahab. Do you think Rahab is a keen swimmer. Kill then and go into Bill the Just deserts crypt. You meet Turel here at long last. Although he eluded Raziel as a vampire, he wont as a Safafan. You cannot enter the crypt because William does not exist yet so after Turel's death go into the next room. Follow the corridor into the next room for an unusual assignation. Top yourself and it's gameover. Did you know history abhors a paradox, I sure didn't!
