This is my Guide to
Cooking in Sims 2 [A100] 

With The Sims 2 one can create food using recipes and food that
you have obtained from the refrigerator. It is important to realize that for the greatest
number of food choices one needs to have the most expensive refrigerator in the game and
this guide assumes that this is the refrigerator that one will use.

You can check the refrigerator for the
common recipes and some example ingredients, keep in mind that one can substitute
something if it is in the same category, also fish can be substituted for meat in the
recipe.

For example if the recipe calls for strawberry then any other fruit may be
substituted instead or if the recipe calls for beef then another meat item like pork may
be substituted or one of the fish items like tuna may be substituted instead of the meat
item.

Also recipes may have up to 4 ingredients, so one can add more kinds of fruit to a
fruit shake or more kinds of meat to Roast or Sliced Roast for example.


Unlocking
Recipes: [B100]
Some of the Recipes are locked at the beginning and the following gives
you the method for unlocking them:

1-3: Given by default
4-5: Read in bed
6-7: Read
newspapers
8-9: Read magazine in toilet
10: Read a comic book - from comic
dispenser
11-12: Read book
13-14: Chat on computer
15-24: Cooking Skill Level 1 to
10


Note that you also learn Recipes by cooking, since when a Sim prepares food that
increases their cooking skill.



However one doesnÕt need to unlock the Recipes in order
to make use of them in the game, you just need to unlock them in order to get credit for
doing it in the game and to get 100%.

Since I have unlocked all of the Recipes I am
giving you all of the Recipes that are in the Refrigerator, including the ones that are
locked at the beginning.

Harvested Food: [D100]

The Harvested
Food Section of the refrigerator is empty until you harvest something to do this
You need
the Aquarium, Garden Hutch, and the Frood Tree. If you don't already have these items

On
the Miscellaneous section buy,

Aquarium - Harvested Animals
Garden Hutch - Harvested
Vegetables
Frood Tree - Harvested Fruit

Note: The more you water everyday and the more
days you don't harvest it the 
more seafood, fruit and veggies there will be.

Once you
have the Aquarium, Garden Hutch, Frood Tree you can harvest fish, fruit and vegetables,
but you won't get the Golden Egg and the Dangleberry with them.

There are two ways to get
a Dangleberry: 

Buy the Sproutch Couch in the Beds&Seating section and then Water it,
then later you may harvest a Dangleberry, just remember to water the couch regularly.

Buy
a metal detector from the electronic section. When finding treasure sometimes you will
find a Dangleberry. Be patient because you need luck for this.

There is only one way to
get a Golden Egg though:

In the Skill building section and buy the Chicken checkers game.
If you win, she'll 
give you a Golden Egg, but if you don't win she'll make a mess and
you'll have to clean her up.

Note: In order to win in the Chicken Checkers game you
should have at least Logic Skill 9 and Logic Skill 10 is recommended.


Various Recipes:

One doesnÕt need to use the ingredients given in order to use the Recipe as long
as you substitute an ingredient that is in the same category, so I am going to use generic
ingredients except in those recipes where it does make a difference.

Special Meals: [F100]

Some foods have Special Effects for
Sims like:

Red Hearts means that it is a Romantic Meal
When your Sim eats this, romantic
social interactions are more likely temporarily and usually +3 to skills
temporarily.

Black Hearts means that it is a Repulsive Meal
When your Sim eats this,
social interactions will be in enemy mode temporarily.

Green Smoke means that it is a
Nausea Meal.
When your Sim eats this, the Sim will throw up.

Rain Drops means that this
meal makes the bladder full.
When your Sim eats this, they will need to head for the
toilet.

Sparkles or Stars means that it is an Energy Meal
When your Sim eats this they
will gain Energy, and +3 to skills temporarily.


In order to make a food with a special
effect one needs to read the description, for example Energy Meals use food items with a
positive number for the energy line in the recipe, Romantic meals use food items like
fruit or most fish in the recipe. Meals with Rain drops use food items with a high
negative number for bladder. Nausea meals are somewhat harder since with these one needs
to read the food description, for example a recipe with Soursop will many times make a
nausea meal. Repulsive Meals are the hardest, to make one of these one needs to experiment
to find one that has Black Hearts.

Note: In most of the following recipes for Romantic
Meals you can substitute an item in the same category, like for example if it calls for
lobster you can usually substitute another seafood item instead and usually you can
substitute one of the meats like ostrich or llama. Or if it calls for ostrich or llama you
