Intro: Go001
Ok one of the important things that you need to do in The Sims 2 Castaway is
Fishing and I wrote this guide so as to help with this important task.
When starting out your Sim will only be able to fish with the spear, but first
your Sim will need to craft a bamboo spear.
First your Sim must gather a suficient amount of Bamboo, go up to some bamboo
and gather it. Now go to where the two rocks are and make a crafting bench. Now
you are ready to craft some basic items.
Now using the crafting bench select craft and then go to tool and make a bamboo
spear. Your Sim is now able to fish with a spear, so go out to the water and
look for some fish.
How to fish with a Spear: Go002
Once your Sim finds some Fish select them and select Spear Fish.
Your Sim will then stand there with a spear ready to catch a fish with it.
To catch fish with a spear the Sim needs to wait until a fish jumps in to the
air before trying to Stab Fish, otherwise the Sim fails to catch anything and
they need to find another school of fish.
When spear fishing a Sim will only be able to catch small and medium sized fish,
to catch large a fishing pole is needed.
Fishing with a spear is a excellent way to increase your SimÕs Body skill as
well catching an important food resource.
How to fish with a Fishing Pole: GO002
Later in the game after your Sim has the needed crafting plan, your Sim will be
able to craft a bamboo fishing pole and then still later in the game your Sim
will be able to craft a wooden fishing pole once the plan for that becomes
available..Again the needed plans will be in the tools category once they are
available.
Once your Sim has the needed plan for crafting a fishing pole, go up to your
crafting bench and craft a fishing pole. Once your Sim has a fishing pole go up
to some water and choose the fishing pole from the tools menu and choose to
fish.
Fishing with a fishing pole is a great way to increase your SimÕs Logic skill as
well catching an important food resource.
Requirements: Bamboo Fishing Pole or Wood Fishing Pole.
To catch fish with a fishing pole the Sim needs to wait until the red bob dips
before trying to reel the fish in, otherwise the Sim will fail to catch
anything.
How to Catch Sharks and Large fish: GO003
Fishing for Sharks or any other Large Fish:
In order to catch a Shark or other Large fish, the Sim needs to use a fishing
pole and the Sim must fish at one of the ocean beaches. It also helps if the
SimÕs Logic skill is high. It may take a while to catch a Shark, so be patient
Otherwise the process of fishing is the same, watch the red bob and reel in when
it dips..
How to Catch fish with a Fish Trap: GO004
Later in the game after your Sim has the needed crafting plan, your Sim will be
able to craft a Fish Trap..Again the needed plans will be in the tools category
once they are available. Note that in order to craft a Fish Trap your Sim must
use either the Bamboo Crafting Bench or the Hardwood Crafting Bench.
Some fish may only be caught with a Fish Trap, so once your Sim is able to craft
a fish trap it is a good idea to go ahead and craft a few of them.
Then look for a school of fish and if your Sim has a fish trap in the inventory
the option of Place Trap will be there, now just choose to Place the Trap.
You may place a fish trap at any of the ocean beaches or at the South River
Jungle shore or in the larger pool in the Dark Cave or the Hidden Lagoon.
With the Fish Trap one may catch a variety of Fish, but also Eels and Squid may
be caught with the Fish Trap.
To catch Freshwater eels set a fish trap at Dark Cave.
You may be able to catch them at South River Jungle and hidden Lagoon, but I
have only caught freshwater eels in the larger pool in the Dark Cave.
To catch Moray Eels or Squid set a fish trap at any ocean beach, and a good
place is Tidal Pool.
To catch fish with the Fish Trap, check the fish trap once per day by choosing
to recover trap.
Large fish like sharks will not be found in the fish trap, however you will be
able to catch small and medium sized fish with the fish trap.
