I am your host, nm14. The purpose of this walkthough is to guide you through each goal throughout the game. Additional information (side stuff) will be added after I complete the essential walkthrough. I will include secrets and cheats that will enhance your play, so if you are not looking for spoilers throughout the game, you are probably in the wrong place. I would advise you to click the back button in the top right corner. Anyway, enough of this business. Let's get down to the core part of the document. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.2 E-mail Policy |SREP ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- bjsalari[at]hotmail[dot]com bjsalari(at)hotmail(dot)com I will accept any emails as long as they follow the below guidelines. If you need further explaination in the walkthrough, go ahead and e-mail me. (PLEASE READ) Hey everyone. This is the e-mail policy portion of this FAQ. I am going to list what I believe to be "acceptable" or "unacceptable" e-mails. Of course, it would be very wise of you to correctly e-mail me if you are hoping for a response. Also, if you have made a mistake when e-mailing me, it is very likely I will block you so that you cannot send me any more messages. So, now that you all know what will happen if you incorrectly e-mail me, you have to find out what is acceptable and what is unacceptable. Please read below. Do you have information that we have not covered in this FAQ? Well, read below. If you happen to know something in the FAQ please e-mail me. I am always interested in adding information from readers, but there are a few exceptions. If this FAQ is NOT labeled "Final" as its version, your added information may not neccessarily be used. I could possibly already know your information, but have not gotten to that section yet. So, do not guarantee that I will post your comments just because you were nice enough to e-mail us. Now, for a little more about an "acceptable" e-mail, let's talk about the subject of the e-mail. I get a lot of e-mails about other FAQs that I have written, so I can easily miss your e-mail unless you identify it. So, in the subject line, please include the words "Tony Hawk 3 FAQ" in your subject line. This makes it a lot easier to sort things out in my e-mail. If you do not refer to what game you are commenting/asking for help on, I will most likely ignore the entire e-mail. The last aspect that we would like to talk about is reading the FAQ. If you are in doubt, check around the entire FAQ before coming to us for direct help. It is likely that information is in other parts of the FAQ, and not neccessarily the part that you are looking at during that very moment. Any comments that are already answered in this FAQ will simply be ignored and blocked, as I have taken a lot of time to write this guide for you, you can do a little something for me as well. If any of the above guidelines are not followed correctly your e-mails will be considered "unacceptable" and I am sure you know what that means. I personally think that it will be simple to follow the guidelines, and you will not have to worry very much about the process. Thank you, again, for your cooperation. =============================================================================== C H A P T E R 2 |SRCH2 +--------------------------------+------------------------+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 Tips |SRTP ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =============================================================================== 1.) Manual. This is the cream of the crop for this game. It can connect tricks to obtain insain scores. It allows you to do more than one set of trick, while doubling that score on top of that. To do a manual, simply press up+down or down+up before landing on the ground. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== 2.) Revert. This is a useful way of doubling your score after you have done a trick. Simply press R2 after you do a trick off of a halfpipe or quarterpipe. This will change your stance from goofy to regular, or regular to goofy. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== 3.) Try to vary your tricks. You have plenty of tricks to choose from: grabs, flips, grinds, specials, and lip tricks. Each time you do the same trick, your score for that trick will decrease by 25 percent of the last time you did that trick. Once you have done most or all of the tricks, you can start doing the same trick again, otherwise avoid it. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== 4.) Look for gaps around levels. There are plenty in each level, and each time you do a trick over that gap, you get double the points you obtained. This is an easy and useful way of getting points in competitions, or when you are just having fun. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== 5.) Do as many trick as you can before you land. For example, if you were to get 5,000 points for doing a 720 cannonball, your score can go up 25 percent by doing another trick, like a 720 cannonball+varial kickflip. This can get you up to 7,500 points. An easy and useful way to obtain points. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== 6.) Finally, do as many special trick as you possibly can. This is an easy way to get maximum points, because it is another type of trick, and it gives more points than any other trick in this game. Many people think they are a waist of time, but they can get more points by thousands if you are willing to put a little effort forth. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.3 FAQs |SRFQ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =============================================================================== 1.) Q - Is this a replayable game? A - That is basically what it is. This game has so many cheats and features, that it could be replayed for a significant reason quite a few times. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== 2.) Q - How does this compare with the Tony Hawk series? A - Well, I am a late bloomer, as I wrote this faq while Tony Hawk Underground is now out. I believe that each Tony Hawk is better than the previous, so when this game came it out, it was a success. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== 3.) Q - Can I play online? A - No, not for this game. I believe it starts to function online during the fourth game of the series. Sorry! =============================================================================== =============================================================================== 4.) Q - Who is a good player to start out with in the beginning? A - Well, I would have to say Tony Hawk because he, after all, is the best player in the game. In my opinion, the best player helps the worst controller. What do you think!? =============================================================================== =============================================================================== 5.) Q - Anything special for beating the game? A - Well, like all Tony Hawk games, you get a video that shows a little bit about the character you beat the game with. Also, you can unlock many secrets throughout the game. If you are in need of seeing the cheats, you might as well look at my Secrets section of this FAQ. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.4 Items |SRIT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =============================================================================== Stat Points - There are five stat points in each level. They are orange, and say Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 on them. When you obtain a stat point you can increase your stats by one point. Try to collect as many as you can. I have a section on these at the bottom of the faq. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Decks - These are certain decks that are found throughout the level. You can ride the decks by choosing them in the lobby. They are basically only for looks and not for making your player perform better. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.5 Tricks |SRTI ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =============================================================================== Flip Tricks =============================================================================== Flip tricks involve the movement of the board, and not the body parts of the skater. One of the interesting facts about flip tricks is that you can combine the trick into a double or triple flip. For example, you can do double or triple kickflips which are worth many more points simply by tapping the button two or three times. This applies for all the flip tricks, but the look the best on kickflips, heelflips, and pop-shove its. ------------ +--------------------------------------+ Point Values |x/y; x = Regular stance and y = Switch| ------------ +--------------------------------------+ Kickflip Heelflip Impossible FS Shove-It Pop Shove-It Varial Kickflip Varial Heelflip Hardflip Inward Kickflip Kickflip to Indy Kickflip to Crail 360 Flip Front Foot Impossible Ollie Airwalk Ollie North Double Impossible Double Kickflip Double Heelflip 360 Shove-it 360 FS Shove-it 180 Varial Fingerflip Heelflip Varial Lien Sal Flip Varial 360 Varial Beni Fingerflip Triple Kickflip Triple Heelflip Triple Impossible 540 Shove-it 540 FS Shove-it =============================================================================== Grab Tricks =============================================================================== Grab tricks involve the circle button on the Playstation 2 controller. They usually provide the majority of your points when you do spin tricks. You will probably want to use these tricks when you are going off of a quarterpipe or a halfpipe. Try to avoid these tricks when you jump on and off of rails. They are slower than flip tricks, and therefore they need more air in order for you to get the maximum amount of points. ------------ +--------------------------------------+ Point Values |x/y; x = Regular stance and y = Switch| ------------ +--------------------------------------+ Benihana Crail Grab Cannonball Indy Melon Nosegrab RoastBeef Seatbelt Air Tailgrab Crossbone Crookedcop Japan Del Mar Indy Mute Stalefish Tuckknee Airwalk Method Rocket Air FS Shifty Stiffy Madonna Wrap Around Judo One Foot Japan =============================================================================== Grind Tricks =============================================================================== Obviously there is no exact value for a grind trick, because you can never stay on the rail for exactly the same time, and the time is not even important. So, I am only going to list the tricks. It might come in handy some day if you some how think about it. :) 50-50..................................................................Triangle 5-0...............................................................down+Triangle Nosegrind...........................................................up+Triangle Bluntslide...................................................down+down+Triangle Nosebluntslide...................................................up+up+Triangle Tailslide........................................................right+Triangle Noseslide.........................................................left+Triangle Overcrook......................................................up+left+Triangle Crooked.......................................................up+right+Triangle Feeble.......................................................down+left+Triangle Smith.......................................................down+right+Triangle ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.6 Secrets |SRSE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, we all know that there are secrets throughout every game, and there are definately codes for the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. All you | | |have to do is roll down from the start | |Vert Skaters |and perform a cannonball (right+O). | |------------------------------------+----------------------------------------| |50-50 TC's Rail |Another simple goal. Head to the back of the | |(All characters) |pool, and grind the gadget. | |------------------------------------+----------------------------------------| |Grind the Molten Bucket |For this goal, you might want to improve| | |your stats in air, as it is hard to | |(All characters) |reach your destination. Anyway, head to | | |the back of the level near the lava pit.| | |The bucket will pour lava every once in | | |a while. Get some speed and ollie onto | | |the small rail sticking out. | |------------------------------------+----------------------------------------| |Un-Jam 5 Valves |There are five basic valves that need to| | |be grinded.
