Still, if you feel the need to worship me for any reason, go right ahead! Anyway, I'm a huge fan of the WWE, and I love the games. In my opinion, this is one of the best ones available, and so I thought it'd be cool to do a guide for it. Psycho wanted to do a guide for it to, so we decided to just do it as a co-author. If you have any questions, send them right over to him! Oh, and make sure to look for me in online play. The name will be GermanDragon. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Psycho Penguin's Introduction =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- This is Psycho Penguin writing for another wrestling game, this time Smackdown vs RAW 2006, the newest wrestling game available for PS2. It's about time a good wrestling game came out this year, after the disappointing Wrestlemania 21. I'm teaming up with SaiyanPrince this time, so if you have any questions, send them to him. /===========================================================\ / / _ \__ 04. Match Types [MATCH] __/ _ \ ( / \___)=====================================================(___/ \ ) \ \__ __/ / \_____) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (_____/ --------------------------------------------------------- Single --------------------------------------------------------- This is a basic one-on-one match. You can win by Pinfall and Submission. If you have them turned on, you can also win via KO, or lose via DQ and Count Out. You can choose to have managers or not. You can also choose to have the ability to call for interferences on. --------------------------------------------------------- Tag Team --------------------------------------------------------- This is a match for teams of two to face each other. You can have the basic two-on-two, where the first team to score a pinfall or submission on the legal man of the other team. You can also make it a Tornado match to call for all players to be in the ring at once, or to make it an Elimination match, where when one person loses, their partner stays in, until all the members of a team are out. You can also set the matches to be three-on-three, or to make them table matches, where you lose if you are put through a table. Finally, you also have the option to make it a Captain Fall match, where both teams have a Captain, and when he is taken out, the match is over. --------------------------------------------------------- Triple Threat --------------------------------------------------------- This is a three man free-for-all, where any one person can pin another, or make another tap out, to score a win. You may choose to work together, as double team moves do work here, but be weary; There is only one winner. --------------------------------------------------------- Fatal 4-Way --------------------------------------------------------- Similar to the Triple Threat match, this is a free-for-all where one man will come out the winner. You can accomplish this by pinning any of the other three players, or by making them submit. Again, double team moves work here. --------------------------------------------------------- Handicap --------------------------------------------------------- Handicaps are matches where one person, or team, has the odds stacked against them. The options are, one-on-two, one-on-three, one-on-tag, one-on-trio, and tag-on trio. In the one-on-two, and one-on-three matches, all of the members of the oposing team can enter the ring at the same time, and any of them can pin the single player for the win. On the other hand, the single player can pin any of the oposing team's wrestlers as well. The one-on- tag, and tag-on-trios are a bit more balanced. In those matches, players face one-on-one, until a new person is tagged in; It works just like it does in tag matches. Still, it is difficult to win, since the other players on the larger team can enter at any time to break up pins and submissions -- even though they aren't legal. --------------------------------------------------------- Royal Rumble --------------------------------------------------------- In this match, you can set either 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 men to compete. Then, the match starts one-on-one, with new men entering every minute or so, with no more than 6 being allowed at any given time. Wrestlers are eliminated when they are knocked out of the ring. You can irish whip them to the ropes, and then grapple them to attempt to knock them out, as you rapidly press buttons to deplete their resistance meter. If two players grapple someone on the ropes at the same time, it will drop faster. Also note, that heavier players take longer to drop, and that some cruiserweights can be immediately dropped out via grapple moves from the heavier guys. You can choose the entrance number of the human characters; Obviously the final entrant has the advantage. You can also choose to select Random. This isn't the most balanced match, but it is fun. --------------------------------------------------------- Backstage Brawl --------------------------------------------------------- In this mode, two superstars go one-on-one, in the backstage area. It is no DQ, and the fight can get pretty violent. Not only are there a few weapons lying on the ground, but there are numerous interactive objects in the room. For example, you can slam your opponent into the electric box for big damage, or perform environmental grapples on the soda machine, lunch table, television, and dumpster. You can also climb onto the top of the soda machine to perform diving attacks. If you utilize the environment correctly, you'll do big damage, very fast. --------------------------------------------------------- Bar Brawl --------------------------------------------------------- This is a second variation of the Backstage Brawl, taking place, of course, in a bar room. Once again there are many features you can use to brutalize your opponent. For example, the basketball hoop, juke box, and glass bottle rack all hold environmental grapples. There's also a pool table that you can dive off of, or put your opponent through. Furthermore, there's a glass case on the wall, that you can put your opponent's head through. As for weapons, there's a pool stick on the ground, and an everlasting supply of bottles on a table near the bottom of the screen. Furthermore, every time you perform an environmental grapple into the glass case, after the first time, you'll pick up a baseball bat that for use. --------------------------------------------------------- Parking Lot Brawl --------------------------------------------------------- This is the final variation of the Backstage Brawl. This one takes place in a parkin lot. You can do environmental grapples on every car in the area, including the ambulance, and both doors of JBL's limo. For added fun, you can strong irish whip your opponent into the side of the truck, to make the grating of it slide open. You can then climb into the truck, and perform diving attacks off of it, or pick up the tire axle lying inside of it, for use as a weapon. Lastly, this match contains a special finisher, that will cause you to win every time, without fail, if you can hit it. Store one finisher, then full your momentum bar. Before it depletes, grapple your opponent, and punch them, to grab them by the hair. Drag them to the back door of the limo and press circle. You'll toss them inside, and then drive into it with another car! Instant KO. --------------------------------------------------------- Battle Royal --------------------------------------------------------- This match can be played two ways. Using four-to-six people, you can either have a Royal Rumble-like match, where the goal is to toss your opponents out of the ring, or you can have an elimination match that works via pin or submission. Either way, the last man standing is the winner. Be cautious though, as eliminated players do not leave the arena as they do in the royal rumble. Instead, they stay just outside of the ring, and can pull at the legs of players still in the match. --------------------------------------------------------- Buried Alive Match --------------------------------------------------------- In this match type, there's a large sand dune at the top of the entrance ramp. At the top of the pile, is a casket. The goal is to get your opponent there, irish whip him to the casket, then grapple him to knock him inside. With him inside, rapidly press buttons to fill the bar first, then pull the right analog stick, to close the lid. The opponent will have one final chance to press R2 at this time, to escape, but if they don't you'll win. There is a shovel just outside the casket that you can use for a weapon. Additionally, there's also a hidden finisher that will end the match, just like in the Parking Lot Brawl. Store a finisher, then gain full momentum, and irish whip your opponent to the casket. Press L1 to end the match; You're opponent has no chance to block it. Most players do a Powerbomb into the casket, but a few have their own finishers as well. AS you can guess, this is no DQ. --------------------------------------------------------- Elimination Chamber --------------------------------------------------------- In this match type, there's a large circular dome made of steel chain, with four glass chambers in the corners. Two Superstars start in the ring, with four Superstars in the chambers. Every minute, a new Superstar is released into the chamber, one at a time. You can either set the order, or make it random. When Superstars submit, or are pinned, they'll leave the chamber. The last one remaining is the winner, so the last one released has the advantage. In the match, you can climb onto the glass chambers and dive from there -- Hell, you can even dive from the cageed wall before you reach the chamber. You can also perform strong irish whips, to shatter the glass with your opponents body for big damage. --------------------------------------------------------- First Blood --------------------------------------------------------- This is a one-on-one match that encourages violence. You can't win by submission; You can't win by count out; You can't win by pinfall. You win when you cause your opponent to bleed. You can do this one of two ways. Firstly, you have to do enough damage to their head, so that the damage icon turns red. Then, you can either nail them with a weapon (No DQ of course) or you can use a move that can cause damage. Not all moves do though, so you'd have to look at the Create-a-Movelist menu to see which ones do. Most DDTs and Piledrivers work good, though, as do Big Boots. As far as weapons go, Ring Bells work the best. --------------------------------------------------------- Fulfill Your Fantasy --------------------------------------------------------- This match is only for divas. In it, each player has a fantasy meter, which they have to fill in order to win. You can't leave the ring in this match type, because everything you need to fill the meter is inside the ring. The two biggest meter fillers, are when you take off your opponent's top, followed by her pants. The more damage you do, the easier this will be, as they work just like submissions. Other things that you can do to fill the meter, is grab pillows off of the bed, and use them as weapons. You can also irish whip your opponent's diva to the bed itself, and then spank her to fill it. And though this doesn't fill the meter, you can climb onto the bed and do a diving attack from it to inflict damage. --------------------------------------------------------- Hardcore --------------------------------------------------------- In Hardcore matches, there's no DQ, and you can be pinned anywhere. You can make it a Singles match, with or without managers, a tornado tag match (two or three man, at your choice), a triple threat or a fatal fourway, or a tornado tag match with three teams of two. Weapons are encouraged. --------------------------------------------------------- Hell in a Cell --------------------------------------------------------- In this match, the ring is surrounded by a huge cage with a roof. You can either have one-on-one matches, tornado tag matches, triple threat matches, fatal fourway matches, or Armageddon -- 6-man -- matches. In the matches, you'll start in the ring as normal. However, outside of the ring, you can perform grapples to scrape opponents' face along the chain. There's a door in the lower left corner of the cage, that you can unlock by pushing circle towards it once, and you can go through by pressing a second time. Outside, there may be a sledgehammer on the ground, as well as the two announcer tables, depending on arena. You can utilize both. You can also climb to the top of the cell. You'll get crazy damage if you fall, or if someone pushes you off. Strong irish whips work great to knock opponents off, but grappling them when they are near the edge also works. Performing a Finisher near the end will often cause your opponent to be dropped off, while the user stays, which is an improvement over last year's game. Be careful though, moves like the RKO still cause problems... You can perform diving attacks off of the top as well, but it's very risky, because you'll often miss. Lastly, if you hit a few grapple moves in the center of the roof, you'll put your opponent through it, and they'll fall to the ring below, ready to be pinned. --------------------------------------------------------- Ironman --------------------------------------------------------- This is a one-on-one match, with or without managers, with a time limit. You can set the timer to 10, 15, 20, 30, or 60 minutes. In that time, the person with most points will be declared the winner. Points are given when you successfully pin your opponent, make him tap out, have him counted out by the ref, or when he's disqualified. Like singles matches, you can change what is allowed on the match rules screen. You can also choose to allow interferences or not. --------------------------------------------------------- Ladder --------------------------------------------------------- This match can be one-on-one, with managers or without, tornado tag, triple threat tornado tag, triple threat, or fatal 4-way. Whichever option you choose, the goal is the same. Pick up a ladder, bring it to the ring, set it up, and use it to climb to the belt hanging above the ring. You can climb ladders, and dive off of them with the X button, or press circle to grab for the belt. However, lots of chaos will be going on in this match, due to the other factors. Two players can climb the same ladders, and have a brawl at the top of it; all the while, a third player can tip the ladder over. And when you fall off of a ladder, there's a good chance you may not even land in the ring! This is one of the glitchier matches, but it is usually still pretty fun. --------------------------------------------------------- Last Man Standing --------------------------------------------------------- This is a one-on-one, no disqualification match. The goal is to batter your opponent with so much force that they can't stand -- at least for ten seconds, while the ref counts. It may sound easy, but the ref counts somewhat slow. You probably won't be able to do it without using weapons, or hitting a few finishers. --------------------------------------------------------- Slobber Knocker --------------------------------------------------------- In this match, you'll stay in the ring, facing one superstar after another until you're defeated. The goal is to make the high score list, by beating as many as you can before then. You can either make them tap, pin them, or even knock them out. All of your moves are extremely jacked up, and you're opponents will all be signifigantly weaker. Not only will every other finisher KO someone, almost any top rope move will be enough to get a pinfall. Opponent's won't last long. Be careful though. Although you're moves do alot more damage, it takes a lot less to put you down for a pin. If you give up one lucky grapple, and your opponent pins, it may be over for you. --------------------------------------------------------- Special Referee --------------------------------------------------------- Here, you can play the role of a referee in a singles, tag match, Ironman, Hell in a Cell, or Last Man Standing match. You don't even lose 98 percent of your strength like the refs on tv! Square is the universal button for the ref. It counts for pins and countouts, and calls for submissions and disqualifications. You don't necessarily have to be a fair ref though; There's no one to DQ the ref if he starts dealing finishers, or using weapons. --------------------------------------------------------- Steel Cage --------------------------------------------------------- In Cage matches, a large cage extends from the apron on the four sides of the ring. You win if you can escape the cage, but you can also turn on pinfalls and submissions if you like. The match supports singles, tornado tags, triple threats, and fatal 4-ways. In the free-for-alls, and singles, the winner is the one who escapes. However in tornado tag matches, the winning team is the first to have both of its members escape. That means that when one man gets out, he leaves his partner in a handicap. As for actually escaping, there are two ways. First, you can hit a move -- preferably a special -- then press square to climb the cage. You'll then press X when the bar fills to move up. The closer the bar is to being filled, the faster you'll climb, and the sooner the next bar will appear. Do this three times to reach the top, then press square to escape. You can drop back in at any time by pressing R1; and you should do this if your opponent gets up, so he doesn't pull you down. The second way to escape is to get an opponent in the lower-left corner, and do a grapple. You'll initiate a mini-game where you both time button presses. If you do a better job then you're opponent, you'll escape. If not, he'll pull you back in. You can turn this option off in the options menu, and in my opinion, doing so makes things far more enjoyable as a whole. --------------------------------------------------------- Submission --------------------------------------------------------- As you can guess, a Submission match is a match where you can only win via submission. These are only one-on-one, but there are two variations. Normal matches, where the first one to score a submission wins, and Ultimate, where you set a timer to 10, 15, 20, 30 or 60 minutes, and the player with most submissions at the end is declared the winner. In this match, you can not exit the ring at all. --------------------------------------------------------- Table --------------------------------------------------------- The goal in this type of match, is to put your opponent through a table. In order to make the matches last longer, the developers chose to make the tables sturdier in this type of match. The more damage your opponent has taken, the easier they will be to put through wood. Although, if you are persistent, you can do it at any time. You can either grapple them while holding the table to put them on top of it, or you can irish whip them at a table that has already been set up. You can even choose to set the table up in the corner. With your opponent on a table, grapple them, to put them through it; If you're opponent is laying down on it, you can grapple them from the ground, which will make things even easier. This match type supports singles, tornado tags, triple threats, fatal 4-ways, tornado 6-man tag, and triple threat tornado tags. When one man on a team goes through a table that team loses. --------------------------------------------------------- TLC --------------------------------------------------------- TLC -- Tables Ladders, and Chairs. In this match, many weapons are strewn about the ring. Some tables are aleady against the turnbuckles and everything. You win by pin fall, but as you can guess, the match is designed more for brutality than a technical display of pure wrestling! ____ ____ / __) ____ ____ (__ \ ( \__/ ___) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (___ \__/ ) \ /===========================================================\ / / _ \__ 05.
