Information ============================================================================= i. Introduction ============================================================================= I know what you may be thinking... "another ZOE guide??" True, it may not be needed, but I really don't care. I finished this guide back last July and this is the public release of it. For those unfamiliar with the game, Z.O.E. is a game in which you control a war machine named Jehuty and your main objective is to kill enemies and progress through the game. Please be forewarned: the walkthrough section does contain plot spoliers. FAQ Version History: Version 1.0 (3/27/2002): Reformatted, ASCII art added; public release. Version 0.1 (7/1/2001): Initial version with everything complete. ============================================================================= I. Controls ============================================================================= Left Analog: Use to move Jehuty around - left and right, forward and back. Also used to move the on-screen map around in the Command Menu or to change between selected options when in menus. Right Analog: Move the red crosshairs on the screen around to aim at your target while in play. Rotate the on-screen map in the Command Menu. X Button: Press to descend when in flight or use for cancellation when in the menus. Triangle: Ascend when in flight. Square: Use primary weapon; bullet weapon when battling in long range - slash attack when in close range combat. Circle: Use sub-weapon (select sub-weapon from Command Menu or using the d-pad) when in long range combat or grab/throw when in close range combat. Use for confirmation in the menus. L1 Button: Break lock-on target to escape from battle. When in the Command Menu, use to zoom out from on-screen map. L2 Button: Lock-on to nearest enemy or rotate through targets. When in the Command Menu, use to zoom in on on-screen map. R1 Button: Use Jehuty's Shield. R2 Button: Dash when moving, burst when standing still. Use with square button to perform dash and burst attacks. D-Pad: Use to alternate between sub-weapons without having to go into the Command Menu. Start Button: Pauses game and brings up Command Menu once you have the monitor.fcmd program. ============================================================================= II. Game Overview ============================================================================= Game Screen: ------------ On the playing screen (in local stages), there are several icons, labels and gauges which give you certain information about enemies, items, etc. Energy Gauge: This gauge is in the lower-left corner of the screen and determines how much energy you have remaining. EXP Gauge: Under the energy gauge is your EXP gauge. This will fill up as you defeat enemies and once it's full, you'll gain a level. Level: To the right of the Energy Gauge is your current level. Sub-Weapon: In the lower-right corner of the screen you can see which sub-weapon you currently have equipped and how much ammo. you have left for that sub-weapon. Target: If you're locked on to an enemy, you'll see a target appear around this enemy when you engage in combat. Squads: In the upper-right corner of the screen you'll find the squad counter which tells you how many remaining enemy squads are left in this stage. Survivor: Under the squad counter is the survivor meter which tells you the percentage of survivors in the current stage. Squad Marker: When you see a box around a distant (non-targeted) squad of enemies, you'll find what this enemy is carrying by reading the text near the bottom of this box as well as that squad's level. Viewing the Map: ---------------- On the map are several different types of icons which let you know where you are currently located and where all the items are located in the current stage. You can view the map by pressing Start after collecting the monitor.fcmd program. Blue Cube: These blue cubes on your map represent Metatron Ore locations. Red Cube: Red cubes represent the location of item boxes which can contain weapon ammunition or other items. >>>: Three white arrows on your map represent the entrance to an underground tunnel. Server: A green/red pyramid-like icon on your map represents a server in which you receive programs from. Blue Drop: The blue droplet-like icon on your map shows your current position in the stage. Dots: Small dots on the map represent the current position of Porters. M Icon: An M icon on the map represents an enemy squad that is carrying Metatron Ore. B Icon: A B icon on the map represents an enemy squad that is carrying sub-weapon ammunition. P Icon: A P icon on the map represents an enemy squad that is carrying a passcode. Enemy Types: ------------ There are three different types of enemies you can fight in this game: Raptors, Mummyheads and Cyclops. These enemy frames always travel in groups, or 'squads' of around 2-5 in the local stages. RAPTOR: The more basic of the three, Raptors really aren't that strong but make use of the Javelin sub-weapon for distant attacks. You can either attack close-range or from a distance - neither really does more damage than the other. MUMMYHEAD: Probably the most dangerous of the three enemy frames, Mummyheads have strong cannon lasers that are very hard to avoid and can easily destroy Jehuty. Only attack in close-range with these enemies and try to attack before they have a chance to fire off those lasers. CYCLOPS: Consider these as 'beefed-up' Raptors if you will. The only main difference between Cyclops and Raptors is that these have no distant attacks, meaning you can safely attack from afar if you wish. ============================================================================= III. Items and Weapons ============================================================================= Item Listing: ------------- METATRON ORE: Metatron can always be found in blue cubes around the game as well as in enemies that carry it. It's used as a healing item which will fully replenish your health meter. Once you receive it, you'll use it right then and there, no stocking up. With that in mind, remember to only use them if needed. REPAIR: Another healing item, Repair is randomly dropped by enemies after you defeat them and will replenish 20-50% of your health meter. Enemies that carry repair are not marked, so it's impossible to tell when you'll receive it. SUB-WEAPON AMMUNITION: Red cubes on the map sometimes hold ammunition to your sub-weapons. Some cubes can carry up to three different types of ammunition and you can also get some from enemies marked with B icons in local stages. PORTERS: These small, round objects float in mid-air and often travel in groups. They bob up and down as they move and you cannot lock-on to them, but they are easily destroyed with a few shots from your primary weapon - plus they have no attacks to harm you with. After killing all Porters in a given area, an item box will appear. SERVERS: In some stages, you'll find servers which contain programs. A green/red pyramid-like icon on the map represents a server. Most servers require passcodes to open, others don't. PASSCODES: Passcodes are very important in this game because without them, you won't be able to open certain servers. Sometimes passcodes can be obtained by destroying porters and opening an Item Box that appears, but most of the time you will receive one after defeating an enemy squad that carries a passcode (P icon on map). Weapon Listing: --------------- BOUNDER: Powerful energy ball. Bounces off surface toward target. Located: MOUNTAIN.1 (Mission 18) Useful in confined areas, pretty much useless otherwise (unless used in close combat). COMET: Controllable energy shot. Homes at enemy for a while when shot. Located: CITY.2 (Mission 14) A good homing weapon for close range battle, but disappears if it doesn't reach its target quickly enough. DECOY: Defense weapon interfering with enemy radar. Enemy will temporarily lose sight of player frame. Located: FACTORY.2 (Mission 16) The decoy will create a duplicate Orbital Frame resembling Jehuty and distract the enemy you're fighting. Of course, it'll be destroyed rather quickly, but gives you enough time to deal some damage. GAUNTLET: Powerful bullet weapon. Flies straight toward target at high speed. Bounces off enemy. Located: EPS.2 (Mission 15) Possibly the most important sub-weapon you have, the Gauntlet fires a very damaging shot straight at your target. GEYSER: Energy weapon shooting up laser. Sprinkle on surface. Located: CITY.1 (Mission 6) These are a bunch of mini-mines which you can sprinkle on a surface. Once they touch the ground, lasers will pop out of each, used as the sensors for detonation. HALBERD: Powerful energy sword. Appears when button is pressed and retrieved when pressed again. Located: EPS.1 (Mission 7) This laser-like sword doesn't really work well unless you're in close combat with your target. JAVELIN: Energy weapon. Flies in an arc. Short range. Located: TOWN.1 (Mission 2) This is the same type of weapon Raptor enemies use. When shot, they'll travel in an arc toward your target but won't do a lot of damage. MUMMY: Armor repair weapon. Player frame armor will be repaired while button is pressed. Located: PARK.1 This can be a very useful item during battle. When used, you can replenish your health fully if you have enough ammo on it. PHALANX: Rapid firing of energy shots. How strong the button is pressed changes firing range. Located: TOWN.2 (Rescue Mission 1) A good automatic weapon, but most shots will miss your target when shot from long distances. SNIPER: Long-distance bullet weapon. Can accurately snipe target. Weak firepower. Located: TOWN.2 (Mission 5) The sniper doesn't have many uses in the game unless you feel like attacking an enemy squad from a distance. However, it can shoot straight through force fields. ============================================================================= IV. Walkthrough ============================================================================= View the opening cinema to understand what's going on, then once you hop into your orbital frame (named Jehuty), a battle will ensue. Use the square button to shoot at it from a distance or slash when up-close to defeat it Once it's defeated, you'll be taken to the in-game training menu. Here, you'll learn the basics of battle and how to attack. Make sure you watch the demo first then try it out after. Once finished with all of them, exit the training menu and you'll be introduced to Metatron. Move straight ahead to the blue cube in front of you to obtain the Metatron Ore then follow the arrow that leads you out of this room, through the roof. Here, you'll be confronted with two Raptor enemies - defeat them in any manner you choose and two more enemies will approach; they're Mummyheads. Once those are dead, Viola will appear and fight you for the first time. She's not too tough, try using some dash and burst attacks on her and she'll retreat under command. View the cutscene, then you'll be left to play again. Follow the arrow on your screen to the first server you'll see in the game. When you approach it, you'll get the monitor.fcmd program which allows you to fight more than one enemy at a time as well as gives you access to the Command Menu by pressing start. View the new training options to learn more about battling then you can move on to the first mission. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 1 - Obtain the flight mode module and move to another area using "AREA CHANGE" in the command menu. You'll encounter a bunch of enemies roaming around this first factory, but only one group holds the passcode to the server. You can find this group on your map by looking for the "P" icon, or by looking for the word "Passcode" while in the playing field. Once you encounter this group of enemies, destroy them both to get the pass_global Passcode which will unlock the server for you. Destroy the other enemies in this area if you wish, otherwise locate the server (green icon) on your map and go to it to for the global.fcmd Program which allows you to change areas. Press start to enter the Command Menu then select "AREA CHANGE" to move to a new area, finishing this mission. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 2 - Destroy the large Orbital Frame in TOWN.1. Once you've left FACTORY.1, go ahead and enter TOWN.1, which is where your next mission takes place. Upon entering, you'll view a cinema then a large orbital frame will appear - time for another boss fight! This guy isn't too tough, so as long as you know what you're doing. To start off, guard against his attacks using the R1 button then deal some damage in between his attacks. Long range burst and dash attacks work well here. Continue guarding and attacking until he transforms. His second phase is a bit more difficult, as you can only attack him when he's on the ground and when the head of his frame is exposed. When he jumps, watch out for the missile-like objects he shoot at you, then quickly dash out of the way so he doesn't land on top of you. Once he lands, he'll begin shooting energy balls at you; guard against them and use dash attacks on his frame's head to deal damage. Continue this until you defeat him. After the battle is over, Leo will pick up Celvice from the church and you'll be left to play again. Destroy all the enemy squads in this area to obtain the pass_javelin Passcode then locate the server on your map and go to it to receive the javelin.drvr Program. Once you have it, enter the Command Menu and select "AREA CHANGE" to move on to the next mission. NOTE: From here, you have the choice of playing the first rescue mission in TOWN.2 (see Rescue Missions section) or going back to FACTORY.1 to obtain the necessary information you need. Rescue missions are optional, but they will get you a higher rank at the end of the game depending on how well you do. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 3 - Obtain colony info necessary for mission completion from the local server in FACTORY.1. It's time to head back to FACTORY.1 so aim in that direction and press circle to re-enter. Here, you'll need to kill the squad of enemies carrying the pass_antilia passcode then once you have it, locate the server on your map and pick up the antilia.info program. Kill any other squads around if you want then change your area from the Command Menu. NOTE: From here, you can either go on to the next mission or play the second rescue mission (see Rescue Missions section) in TOWN.1 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 4 - Move to CITY.1 where the colony shaft is located and destroy the EPS relay block. Upon entering CITY.1, you'll be informed that Jehuty's weapons do not work inside the force field and if you want to destroy the EPS relay block, you'll need a long distance weapon. Fight the enemy squads here if you want, otherwise change areas from the Command Menu and enter TOWN.2. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 5 - Find the long-distance bullet weapon necessary to destroy the relay block. There are a bunch of squads here that you can take out (optional) but what you should concentrate on is destroying the six Porters (small, round objects near the ground) which can be difficult because you cannot lock-on to them. When there are no squads in your way, descend to the ground and follow the streets picking off each Porter - use the right analog stick to aim. Once all have been destroyed, go to the red cube on your map for the SNIPER. If you didn't get the Phalanx earlier, get it now otherwise leave and go back to CITY.1. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 6 - Use the newly obtained SNIPER and destroy the EPS relay block in CITY.1. I highly recommend you destroy the enemy squads roaming around the city before attempting to take out the EPS relay block, as they'll get in your way if you don't. Once the coast is clear, position Jehuty in front of the relay block (spinning rod) and use the right analog stick to position the crosshairs on each knob that spins by then fire a shot from the Sniper to remove it. After all eight knobs have been removed, the relay block will be destroyed and the force field removed. Approach the enemy squad with the passcode and defeat them to get pass_geyser. Find the server on your map then go to it for the geyser.drvr program. From the Command Menu, change areas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 7 - Destroy the power supply facility of EPS.1 and EPS.2. Head to EPS.1 which is located in the mountain terrain. First, take out any and all enemy squads you come to then go after the porters. Destroying the porters will take a while, as they're scattered all over the map but destroying them is optional. Once you've got them all, go to the red cube on your map to receive the pass_halberd passcode then go around to the server to get the halberd.drvr program. Bring up your map and look for the three arrows (>>>); these arrows denote an underground tunnel - take it. Go through the tunnel until you reach the intersection where you'll engage in battle. Destroy the enemy and continue going straight. You'll come to a mummyhead in the next room - kill it and continue straight. Kill the final enemy and continue straight into the main room. Descend to the lower area of this room and search around to find a circular object - this is the EPS generator - fire at it to destroy it then exit the tunnel and change areas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 8 - Destroy the emergency EPS generator of EPS.2. Enter EPS.2 and take out the enemy squads first if you wish. Bring up your map and look around for the three arrows (>>>) which denote the underground tunnel entrance - go here. Once inside the tunnel, move forward and bit and you'll find that the tunnel is blocked off by the same force field protecting the satellite above. Since you can do nothing more, leave and you'll see a group of enemies come along. Locate them once out of the tunnel and defeat them to gain the pass_control1 passcode. Change areas from the Command Menu. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 9 - Obtain the module necessary to get past the EPS.2 energy field. Head back to TOWN.1 and ADA will inform you that there's an enemy squad here that looks normal but is far superior in battle. Locate this squad (it's the one marked 'Passcode') and destroy it to receive the pass_control2 passcode. Pick up the Metatron and leave then return to EPS.1. As you can see, the enemy squads have returned. Fight them if you wish, otherwise head to the underground tunnel again. When you reach the first intersection, make a right and follow the path to a server where you'll receive the rap_ctrl.fcmd program. Leave the tunnel (fighting the enemies on the way out) and change areas from the Command Menu to begin the next mission. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 10 - Find the uncontrolled Raptor to get past the EPS.2 energy field. You can find an uncontrolled Raptor in TOWN.2, so that'll be your next destination. Once you arrive, destroy any enemy squads that get in your way and head over to the red cube on your map (Sniper ammunition) to find the uncontrolled Raptor nearby. ADA will tell you what's going to happen then the Raptor will be taken back to EPS.2 where you'll have control of it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 11 - Destroy the emergency EPS generator of EPS.2. Since you don't want your Raptor to die (as it may affect Jehuty's A.I.) it's wise to fight each battle with caution. Make your way over to the underground tunnel (>>> on your map) and enter it. Follow the tunnel to the first intersection (kill the enemy here first) then make a right until you come to the server, where you'll receive the detector.fcmd program which allows you to see the once-invisible Porters. Destroy them all for some Metatron then go back to the first intersection and follow it straight through, destroying enemies from room to room until you reach a dead end. Leo notices a crack in the wall and ADA tells you that you must perform a pin-point attack on the marked area (two squares) to destroy it. Attack the area where the two squares are until the wall breaks then go into the main room. Descend a bit and find the EPS generator (circular object) then destroy it and you'll be brought back to where Jehuty is - TOWN.2. Change areas to get back to the Global Stage. NOTE: From here, you can either go on with the next mission or play the third Rescue Mission (see Rescue Missions section) in TOWN.3. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 12 - Move to MOUNTAIN.1 and meet up with the Atlantis. Locate MOUNTAIN.1 (it's farther back) and you'll be in for a little surprise. After being shot down, you'll enter the mountain area where ADA tells you to attack the enemy straight ahead. Ignore her and leave the area. Celvice tells you she saw something on the monitor and after double-checking Leo finds that ADA has been infected with a virus, thus draining your health so that one hit will kill you. NOTE: You can now do the fourth Rescue Mission (see Rescue Missions section) or go on to the next normal mission. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 13 - Find the program in FACTORY.2 necessary for the repair of ADA. Enter FACTORY.2 from the Global Stage and don't bother getting the Metatron in front of you - it'll do no good. Look on your map to find an underground tunnel entrance (>>>) and make your way toward it. If you're caught by an enemy squad, just press L1 to break the lock-on target and escape. Once you reach the tunnel, enter it and follow the path into the room with the two servers. A battle will engage - kill the enemy to receive the pass_vaccine passcode then open the server on the left to get the vaccine.exec which will cure ADA of her virus. Leave the tunnel and change areas to return to the Global Stage. NOTE: From here, you can go on with the next mission or play the final Rescue Mission (see Rescue Missions section) in CITY.1. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 14 - Find the module necessary to avoid the laser attacks of the large Orbital Frame in PARK.1. Head to CITY.2 and search around the area for the enemy squad with the passcode. Defeat them to get pass_decoy1, then destroy the Porters roaming around if you want the pass_comet. Locate the server on your map and use pass_comet on it to get the comet.drvr program. If you haven't done so already, go ahead and kill any remaining enemy squads, otherwise change areas to get back to the Global Stage and enter TOWN.3. Since you can't see the creature here (as it's in stealth mode), change areas to start the next mission. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 15 - Find the anti-stealth module necessary to defeat the enemy in stealth. From the Global Stage, re-enter EPS.2 and make your way to the underground tunnel (>>> on your map.) Go straight through the tunnel until you reach the last room and the Raptor you controlled earlier will come charging at you, starting a battle. Destroy it to receive the detector.fcmd program which will allow you to detect invisible objects. Leave the tunnel then kill the stack of Porters just outside. Once they're gone, ascend a bit to find the box with the pass_gauntlet passcode inside. Locate the server on your map to get the gauntlet.drvr program. Change areas and enter TOWN.3 once again. Search around for the invisible enemy squad which hold the passcode and destroy them to receive pass_decoy2. Change areas to get back in the Global Stage. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 16 - Find the module necessary to avoid the laser attacks of the large Orbital Frame in PARK.1. Enter FACTORY.2 and locate the tunnel on your map - go to it. Follow the tunnel to the server and use your two passcodes on it to receive the Decoy driver, then leave the tunnel. Before leaving the area, head around the map and take out all of the invisible Porters you come to (battling enemy squads that get in your way) then open the item box for some Decoy ammunition. Leave the area, save your game and enter PARK.1. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 17 - Destroy the large Orbital Frame in PARK.1 Time for another boss fight and this one is tough! First, make sure you have your Decoy equipped as your sub-weapon (circle) then approach the boss. Avoid the lasers he shoots out by dashing and use dash attacks to deal out damage. When he locks-on to you with the red circle, use a Decoy so he'll attack that instead. Right after using a decoy go after him with dash attacks. Continue this method of attack until about half of his health meter has been depleted - he will then transform into his second phase. The second phase is a bit tougher, as he'll be charging at you most of the time. Dash to avoid his charge attacks and when he stops to use lasers, rockets or orbs, use your sub-weapons on him to deal damage. Beware of the orbs he shoots as you, as they will hone in on Jehuty and suck a lot of energy from you. The rockets can be blocked with Jehuty's shield and lasers can be dodged with a boost. Once he's defeated, you'll be back on the Global Stage. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 18 - Fly through the gully along the mountain slope and get from the dam to the warehouse area. Head toward MOUNTAIN.1 and listen to the story with Elena and Thunderheart then enter MOUNTAIN.1 to start the mission. Pick up the Metatron in front of you to replenish lost health then follow the gully, picking up ammo as you go. When you encounter an enemy squad defeat it and continue to the end where you'll fight another squad which hold the pass_bounder passcode - defeat them to get it then fly up to the server and get the Bounder program. Backtrack to the entrance of the gully (pick up the Metatron on your way) and make a left when you come to the opening. Fight the next enemy squad you come to and defeat them to remove the lasers in your path then continue into the broken wall (>>> on map) and open the item box for some Decoy ammo. When you face the north wall, you'll notice two squares appear as they did in EPS.2 - shoot at these two squares to destroy the wall then continue into the next part of the gully. Destroy the enemy squad when you come to them to remove the lasers in your path (you can get some more ammo from the item box if you wish) then continue to the end where you'll notice two more squares where the tunnel is supposed to be on your map. Shoot these two squares to destroy the wall then do the same to the other side and continue into the next part. Do the same as you have in the past two areas (killing squads, collecting items) until you reach the end of this narrow area. Continue following the path set out on your map, killing enemy squads as you come to them and you'll soon reach the end - collect the Metatron, save your game then enter the hole. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 19 - Destroy the large Orbital Frame in MOUNTAIN.1. Yes, another boss fight. This time it's against Nebula. He starts off with basic attacks such as a set of lasers and energy orbs. The lasers can be dodged by dashing and the orbs can be deflected with Jehuty's shield (or just dodge them.) You'll notice that Nebula moves around a lot in this phase, so your only chance to attack is when he's shooting lasers/orbs at you - use boost attacks to get him down to about 50% then he'll change into his second form. The second form is a bit tougher, as he'll first jump really high into the air then come dropping down - dash out of the way to avoid being hit. When he lands, you can hit his head with dash attacks - just watch out for his lasers, orbs and all other attacks he has by dodging. After a few hits on the head, he'll expose his tail, which is when you unleash the heavy stuff. Use any strong sub-weapon you have (gauntlet) or a burst attack to deal a lot of damage. Continue this until he's defeated. Thunderheart will now tell you what you are to do next. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION 20 - Meet up with the civilian freighter Atlantis. Save when you're prompted to do so then view the next cutscene. It appears that Viola wants to battle you again - this time, she won't be as easy as your last encounter with her. I advise not engaging in close range combat with her, as she seems to deal out a lot of damage when you do so. Use dash attacks on her and wait for her to throw a gauntlet at you. When she does so, you can counter her attack with a gauntlet of your own (or with one of your other sub-weapons.) Don't worry about the buildings, just shoot them if they get in your way. After a bit, you'll get a WARNING screen and ADA informs tells you to eject, but Leo refuses. As the battle continues, you may need to replenish your health - do so using a Mummy if you have one. Continue the same method of attack you have been until she's defeated. View the chain of cutscenes and FMVs which will tell you more about the story of the game and Leo's life, then (after being prompted to save) you'll be left in HUB 1 to play again. For this next part, ADA will scan the HUB for bombs and once found, you must defuse each one (you can also destroy them, but this is not recommended, as you'll take damage by doing so) by grabbing onto them and holding them until they're defused. Make sure you defeat all enemy squads near a bomb before attempting to defuse it, otherwise they'll interfere with you and you'll end up having to do it again or the bomb may detonate. Once all four bombs have been defused, you'll have to do battle with Viola again. This time, you should use close combat attacks to avoid the six orbs she throws. Constantly use dash attacks in close range combat until she's defeated. Watch the long cutscene then you'll do battle with Anubis - the final boss. It's impossible to defeat Anubis, as he teleports around too quickly and grabs you if you don't dash out of the way. Just constantly dodge his attacks by dashing when he teleports and eventually you'll be taken out of the HUB. View the ending scene and the credits. Congratulations, you've just beaten Zone of the Enders! ============================================================================= V. Rescue Missions ============================================================================= Rescue Missions are optional side-quests you can complete for fun and to improve your overall completion ranking after finishing the game. Depending on how much of the population is saved and how much building damage is done in each rescue mission, you will be given a rank from A-E. Not attempting a rescue mission will automatically give you an E rank. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESCUE MISSION 1 (TOWN.2) For this one, you'll be faced with five groups of enemies. The goal is to destroy them before they destroy survivors and the buildings. The easiest way to do so is to lure them away from the buildings/survivors then use close range combat (avoid long range attacks, as you may hit buildings if you miss) to kill them. Upon doing so, you'll receive passcode pass_phalanx from one of the groups. After the mission is over you'll receive your rank. Find the server on your map and go to it to pick up the phalanx.drvr program to get the PHALANX weapon. Enter the Command Menu and change areas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESCUE MISSION 2 (TOWN.1) The frustrating part of this mission is knowing that the damage from your previous battle in the town counts toward your building damage ranking. So if a lot of buildings were destroyed in mission 2, you may want to replay and avoid damaging the buildings. Again, you should lure the squads away from the buildings (in this case, into the trench in the center of the town) so the buildings don't take damage during combat. If fighting in the trench, you can use whatever type of attack you'd like, but use close combat when near the buildings. Once they're defeated, you'll be given your rank. Pick up the Metatron to heal after the mission is over. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESCUE MISSION 3 (TOWN.3) This rescue mission is one of the more tougher ones of the five. When you start, take out the only mobile enemy squad you see, then try and lure the other (inactive) squads away from the buildings before destroying them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESCUE MISSION 4 (CITY.2) You'll have to be pretty careful in this mission, as Jehuty is infected with a virus meaning if you take even one hit, you'll be destroyed. It shouldn't be that hard, considering all of the enemies are at level 1, but you'll have to watch out for the Raptors' Javelins. After finishing, you'll receive your rank. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESCUE MISSION 5 (CITY.1) This one is pretty simple, just circle around the tower engaging each squad of enemies you come to, just watch out for the raptors, as they'll do some structural damage if you don't take them out quickly. Once all squads are gone, you'll get your rank. ============================================================================= VI.
