This mode pemanently locks the difficulty on "hard", unit and pilot upgrades are not allowed, enemies have at least 3 ranks of upgrades to units and 30 kills, giving them earlier access to their Ace Bonus. Beat the game twice on any mode (Normal or EX-Hard) to unlock Special Mode. This mode grants one of each equippable part, one of each equippable weapon and the ability to upgrade units to 15 ranks. On the second playthrough of any mode, 50% of total credits earned and pilot points and kill counts acquired are retained from the first playthrough. This will be increased to 75% on the third playthrough and 100% on the fourth playthrough.
