Deathspank was released for the PS3 and Xbox360 on June 13th, 2010.Designed by Ron Gilbert of Monkey Island fame, Deathspank features the loveable hero Deathspank, the do-gooder, out on his quest to obtain the artifact only known as the artifact. It's fun to play and funny as well, so download it already! Oh, and the game is also 2-player co-op ready, so if you have a friend bring him along! This walkthrough is meant to help you with the game's many quests as well as some of the tougher parts of the game. In all honesty, Deathspank is NOT too challenging, and is mostly self-explanatory, so we're going to assume that this isn't your first video game, ok? So with that in mind, let's do it. First though, here are our emails, so you can contact us for FAQs (Check the guide first), questions, or comments: Bkstunt: Gregorio31@gmail.com Thnikaman: Thnikaman.Thnik@gmail.com Contents: I. Controls.......................................DS01 As I mentioned before, the game is pretty much self-explanatory, and I'm sure you can figure it out within minutes, but here's the control scheme: Left stick - Move Right stick - Pan camera Select - Open Quest Log (R1 and L1 to navigate pages) Start - Pause the game R1 - Open Inventory screen L1 - Open Map screen R2 - Block L2 - Target enemy D-pad/Shape buttons - Use equipped items And there you have it. Pretty much everything is self-explanatory, and we'll get into equipping items in the walkthrough. II. Walkthrough..................................DS02 Part 1: The path to the Artifact.................DS02a Ok, so after the opening scene, we'll start out as Deathspank at the start of a dirt road. Just so you know, guys, you can play this game with Deathspank's faithful friend Sparkles the Wizard. Right away you'll notice that, from left to right, you'll have your directional button's assinged to Deathspank's items. Right now you only have 3 potions you can use by pressing up and some meat that you can eat by pressing left. You than have your health bar (the red thing), you're experience bar (the blue gauge right below your health), some gold (right below the experience bar) and than a cool glowing purple demon thing. We'll get to the purple demon in a second. Further right you have your weapons, right by your shape buttons. Go ahead, swing 'em, you'll use whatever weapon you assign to those buttons. Right now your only quests are "Date with a Witch" and the most important one "Get the Artifact". You'll notice your quests are split up between "Important Things I Need To Do" and "Unimportant Things I Need To Do". There's also a section for "Things I Have Done", in case you feel like reminiscing. Oddly enough you already have quite a few quests there. I'll be presenting the games many quests in the following format, for both the main quests and the game's many side quests. The quest's themselves often give basic descriptions on the quest page, but we're going to go ahead and make it nice and simple. Plus you can just use cntl+f to look up the quest name, or scroll down to the "Quest List" after the walkthrough. One more thing, I'm going to list the quest and a "how to accomplish" section as soon as you get the quest, but oftentimes I will talk about that quest in greater detail in the walkthrough, just so you know. NEW MAIN QUESTS!: Main Quest: Get the Artifact Given by: You start out with this quest. How to accomplish: Keep playing the game. Storyline event. Reward: A mighty artifact! Main Quest: Date With a Witch Given by: You start out with this quest. How to accomplish: Stroll northward, dispenser of Justice! Reward: Um, not much. What, all you did was talk to someone! Go grab that chest and you'll get an ice hammer, which is better than your axe so go ahead and equip it (R1, go over to it and hit square, than pick where you want to put it). I won't go over every chest's contents in the game, or where they are, so keep your eyes open for them. As far as I know, none of them are "hidden", but some are off the beaten path a little ways, so don't be afraid to explore. You'll also see your first outhouse, which is like the save points for the game, as Deathspank will explain soon. Now go forth and bash your foes! As you go on, you'll learn that the purple demon is your justice meter, which lets you use weapons of justice (your triangle weapon) to do some powerful attacks, some of which are awesome, so try out new weapons as you acquire them. You'll find many different types of justice weapons, so be sure to try them all out and find your favorite (My favorite is the spinning blade). Always keep an eye out for better weapons that you can equip at whatever level you are, and for better armor too! Just equip your best stuff and you'll be ok. As you get better weapons and items, you can use the grinder in your inventory to get rid of your old weapons and make more money. Just a warning, though, later on we'll get runestones that allow you to pull off special attacks by using two types of weapons at once, so grinding specific items (like your only fire weapon) might stop you from being able to do those attacks. Try and save your elemental weapons if you can. You'll also want a ranged weapon at all times. Keep heading down the road and you'll run into the witch Heybenstance. Ok, the dialog is awesome, isn't it? If you like that, make sure to read all weapon and items quotes too, they're awesome as well. You'll find out that she doesn't have the artifact, as she's hidden it in the Demon Mine's (go figure), and that you'll need her help to get it. And with that you're off to go kill some chickens, so head north some more, where you'll learn about fortune cookies. Of course, you don't really need fortune cookies with this guide, but hey, use 'em if you feel like it as some of the hints are funny! NEW MAIN QUESTS!: Main Quest: Chicken Lips Given by: Demon Witch Heybanstance How to Accomplish: Kill the vicious chickens north of the Witch's house. Reward: Experience and more quests! Another thing I'll mention now before Deathspank can is that you can alternate between different weapons to do a "combo". I honestly didn't really bother with it, but it's there. Kill all the vicious chickens and protect the dragon hatchlings (or kill them too, it doesn't matter), but once you collect enough chicken lips, go back and turn them in to complete the quest "Vicious Chicken Lips". You'll also more than likely level up while killing chickens, so go ahead and level up. You'll get different level up options every other time you level up, so go ahead and pick whichever bonuses you want (I recommend picking the "using weapons one level earlier" hero card). As another beginning note (man there are a lot of things to mention... sheesh!) you can adjust the difficulty of the game under the "help and options" menu on the pause page. Just in case you want to make your adventure more or less heroic. Upon talking to Heybenstance again, she'll give you three more quests to do so she can make a crystal for you, and will than open the nearby gate for you. One of them, "Hair of the Pixies", involves you collecting eight pixie bushes, and there is one right behind you, so go ahead and grab it, than head west, where Deathspank will explain the "map" for you. NEW MAIN QUESTS!: Main Quest: Hair of the Pixies Given by: Demon Witch Heybanstance How to accomplish: Collect the pixie bushes around the witch and west of the Witch's house near the fisherman. They are pretty easy to find. Rewards: 1/3rd of the way to a shiny magical crystal. Main Quest: Crystal Shard Given by: Demon Witch Heybanstance How to accomplish: Head to the slime pits by following the road around greem lake. Fight your way through the slimes to find the crystal in the back. Be careful of the higher level slime "guarding" it and retreat and heal if you need to. Rewards: 1/3rd of the way to a shiny magical crystal. Main Quest: Bright red Demon Imp Horns Given by: Demon Witch Heybanstance How to accomplish: This will take longer than the previous two "magical crystal" quests, and you can do plenty of side quests before this one. First, you get the demon horns from killing demons, east of greem lake past the spiders. The demons will ONLY drop white horns, so you'll get another quest soon afterwards. Rewards: Another quest! Main Sub-Quest: Dye White Demon Horns Given by: Given after accomplishing Bright red Demon Imp Horns How to Accomplish: Head East from the Witch's House or North of where you just got your white Demon Horns (follow the cherry pits) to find Farmer Bobblewood's farm. If you killed any greem's near greem lake, you'll have picked up a greem anvil. Use the anvil on the well to make the poor farmer wheel it up, and than grab one of his red cherries. Combine the red cherry with your white demon horns in the item menu to obtain red demon horns. Rewards: 1/3rd of the way to a shiny magical crystal. Over here are some more chickens and a fisherman, who will ask you to find his tacklebox. There are some more pixie bushes around, so grab them. You can't open this treasure chest now, as many require keys and we just don't have any yet. Explore some more and collect more pixie bushes, they are scattered around and fairly easy to find. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: The Lost Tacklebox Given by: The Lazy Fisherman How to accomplish: Head south of the fisherman towards greem lake and you'll see it sitting on a sand bank. Rewards: Experience and a key to a chest. Further east you'll encouter the character of little stature, who will enlist you to take a package to Bong the Potioneer in the nearby town of Pluckmuckel. She'll also offer to make you a potion if you bring her items, in this case she wants goo drops, so we'll keep our eyes open for those. Further west of the orphen is the very wise cow, who you should talk to for some seriously sage advice. If you're brave, you can make it to the other side of the crack by traveling north around it and meet some VERY tough enemies around level 5 and 7, but be careful as they can take you out fast. If you die in the game, you won't lose any experience, but you will drop a portion of your gold that you will have to go back and claim. In fact there's a trophy for dying, but I'm sure you'll get it sooner or later anyways. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Bong's Pad Given by: Ex-orphen Vendor How to accomplish: Deliver the package to Bong in Pluckmuckel. You'll get there by playing through the story, just remember to visit Bong's potions shop. Rewards: Minor healing potion. Side Quest: Goo Riffic Given by: Ex-orphen Vendor How to accomplish: Collect goo drops from oozing goo's in the slime pits. You can do this while going after the crystal there, very hard to miss. Rewards: Killer plant immunity potion. Head south from the orphen, where Deathspank will explain targeting and you'll reach Greem Lake. Here you can kill gobli.. er.. greems and take them out. You'll also come across a greem anvil, which you'll need for later. Those barrels with the marks on them will explode, just so you know! If you have tried to heal yet you will notice that food takes TIME to eat, healing you over time, while potions are more limited but heal you instantly. You'll find the fisherman's tackle box on the sand nearby. Returning it will net you some experience, a key, and another quest of course, this time to retrieve fishing lures by killing greems. Go grab the chest for a lovely attack item, heck from heaven, which you can equip to your d-pad. You'll also get a broadsword. Oh, you can also make the game auto-equip the best armor by checking the box on the equipment screen, which I recommend. For Justice! NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Hooked on a Greem Given by: The Lazy Fisherman How to accomplish: Kill greems by greem lake. Rewards: Fire bolts. Getting the lures doesn't take much time, as like the chickens they'll drop every kill, and the fisherman will give you more experience and some fire bolts. Now the whiny fisherman wants you to kill a greem champion for a tuna. You'll find the champion by following the greem lake road westward, which we'll have to go by to get to the slime pits anyway. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Something smells fishy Given by: The Lazy Fisherman How to accomplish: Kill the greem champion near the greem lake mating stone. The champion is probably the toughest thing you've faced so far, so be careful and make sure to heal.Take out the smaller greems first before facing him, and have a meter of justice ready. The champion will try to eat the nearby turnips to regain health, so if he goes for it, do your best to unleash justice and keep him away from the turnips to make the fight go much faster. Rewards: Helmet of Pointiness Near greem lake you'll find a trio of ghosts that are immune to the weapons you have now. If you have a wizard friend he can kill them, though, but you can't on your own without a nature weapon. Funnily enough, undeath weapons will actually heal them. Ignore them until you find a nature weapon if you're playing on your own. You'll also find two random citizens hanging out on a hill overlooking greem lake, both of whom will give you some new side quests if you want. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Pick Pocket Given by: Guy with missing wallet How to accomplish: The wallet is very close by, near the killer plants. Investigate the mound of dirt to find it. Rewards: Trinket of Injury Side Quest: Thongolith of Courage Given by: Thongolith Researcher How to accomplish: Use the instrument that the researcher gives you by the "Thongolith of Courage" which is further east down "spider road". You'll see the glowing purple pillar, just examine it. As the device is taking a reading you will have to fight off several enemies, so be ready. Rewards: Gloves of Science Ok, so you probably already have the pixie bushes, so I recommend getting the side quests that you can do easily around or near greem lake and explore that area. Following the path west takes us to the slime pits, where we can get the crystal from. The small slimes explode when you kill them, which is fun, but potentially dangerous, especially with the higher level slime's we'll meet later on. Don't forget you also have your crossbow, which is a great way to take potshots at enemies. The slime at the very end guarding the crystal is a bit tough, I recommend being around level 4-5 by now and remember you can always retreat and heal up. You can also gather the goo drops here and the ex-orphen girl will give you another side quest. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Blood on the Spores Given by: Ex-Orphen Vendor How to accomplish: You have to kill greems near the killer plants south of the orphen vendor. There are already several greem mixed in with the plants, so just kill everything and let God sort them out! Rewards: Stealth potion After that side quest the orphen vendor will give you one more. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Gimme Eyes Given by: Ex-Orphen Vendor How to accomplish: Kill spiders on "spider road" for spider eyes. You need 120, but since they drop 8 at a time, this won't take long at all. Rewards: Minor armor potion Whether or not you went after those extra side quests, after getting the crystal from the slime pits, we can head east of greem lake, killing spiders, and go after those white demon horns.Be careful of the demon's to the east, the smaller one's are pretty easy to beat but the overseer's are a little tougher. The enemies here definitely pack a punch and can kill the overzealous do-gooder easily, so retreat and eat food if you have to. This is a good place to level to 7 at least, and you'll see that different types of food are dropping now which can heal you for more. You can also do the thongolith side quest now, so do that if you want to. Return to the thongolith researcher for your prize and another side quest. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Thongolith of Justice Given by: Thongolith Researcher How to accomplish: Just like the previous side quest, "Thongolith of Courage", use the device on the thongolith of justice which is loacted in the enchanted forest. When you first get this quest you'll need to wait a bit until we get to the enchanted forest. You will have to fight off more enemies while the device takes a reading, so be ready. Since you only get white imp horns from the demons, you will need to visit Bobblewood's farm, which is just east of the gate that the witch opens and a bit north from the demons (follow the cherry pits). You may also notice that near the demon's is a broken bridge. This leads into the demon mines, and you'll need to finish the magical crystal main quest first to get it to open. Before going into the demon mines, you want to be around lvl 8-9 as well. This is where you need to do your sneeky little anvil trick by using the greem anvil on Bobblewood's well in order to get farmer Bobblewood's red cherries. Again, use the red cherry on the white horns to get your red demon horns. Also, farmer Bobblewood will also have a side quest for you. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Demon Dung Given by: Farmer Bobblewood How to accomplish: Equip the dung hammer that the farmer gives you and use it to hit the demons south of the farm with, making them drop demon poop. Yes, the "ore eating imps" count as demons. Make sure to put your normal weapon back on when you're done! Rewards: Frost bolts After that... unpleasent quest, Farmer Bobblewood will have one more for you. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Demon Water Given by: Farmer Bobblewood How to accomplish: Use the empty bucket to get demon water from the spooky fountain located in the demon mines. You'll obviously have to do this once you get the magic crystal from witch Heybenstance. Once inside the mines, head north and stay on the north-left path and you'll find the fountain. Once you get the water you need to use the nearest outhouse to warp to Bobblewood, as the water will constantly hurt you much like a constant poison affect. Rewards: Chestpiece of Guardians Well, we can't do the farmer's last quest yet, but we can turn in the main quest to witch Heybenstance, so let's go get that magic crystal. After getting it, we'll get a new main quest. NEW MAIN QUEST!: Main Quest: Open the Secret Entrance Given by: Demon Witch Heybenstance How to Accomplish: This is a story-line event. You need to charge the crystal by gathering demonic rubies from killing "minor miner demons" in the mines, than use the charged up crystal on the secret door in the mines. Rewards: Access to the Artifact. Well, now that we got our crystal, we can finally go into the demon mines. I went around and killed the demons outside the mines again, as well as some more spiders, greems, and slimes just to get a little experience. When you're feeling comfortable with wading into crowds of the demon's outside of the mine, go ahead and enter. You can take care of farmer Bobblewood's "Demon Water" quest now by taking the northwest path, and you'll undoubtadley gather the rubies fairly quick. Take the lower east path to fight some more enemies and more importantly to find the hungry monsters food in a chest near a major demon. Now finally you can go back to the fork and go north, taking the right fork this time. Don't attack the creature, as you can see that it's level 20 and would probably destroy you. Use the monster food on his dish and he'll open the bridge for you! Keep on going to find the secret door, and try and build up a justice meter and have it ready, as we're going to need it soon. Ah, at last, the artifact. Go forward and talk to the monk of the artifact, after the witty banter, you'll eventually really NEED to get that artifact, but when you're done talking two dragons will spawn in: Ashley the Dragon, level 10 Bubba the Dragon, level 9 Well than. They will try to smack you, breath fire, and try to jump on you. You're best bet is to have a full justice meter ready to go and be around level 9-10. The spinning sword power will do wonders here, as It will darn near kill one dragon and if you're lucky you can get both of them with it. If you have to, use hit and run tactics by smacking the dragon on the sides and healing with whatever food you can. After the battle you'll get your first runestone, the burning cleaver rune. To use runestones you have to have two specific weapons equipped, in this case a melee fire weapon and a cleaver. Use them at the same time when the justice meter is full for some fun. Now grab the artifact for some awesome cut scenes. Part 2: The perils of Pluckmuckel................DS02b After your great battle with the entire orc army, you'll be unarmed and left outside of Bobblewood's cherry farm. Move north past the bridge to finally meet the mysterious red headed women who wanted you to get the artifact in the first place. She points out that there are orphens in need of rescuing. You'll also have to concoct an excuse about the artifact while you're at it, and you can learn about the feared tyrant lord von Prong. Concocting the excuse will complete a innane quest about making a herorically excuse about how you lost the artifact as well, which I won't list here. She will also give you a package to deliver to Nozzleford in the Pluckmuckel general store. NEW MAIN QUEST AND SIDE QUEST!: Main Quest: Recover the Artifact Given by: Yourself, after you lost it! Good job, "hero"! How to accomplish: Storyline event. Rewards: Um... feeling good? Main Quest: Talk to the Mayor of Pluckmuckel Given by: The Red-headed Woman (Sandy) How to accomplish: Follow the road north and talk to the guy in the big funny hat in Pluckmuckel. Rewards: More quests. Side Quest: Begrudging Delivery Given by: The Red-headed Woman (Sandy) How to accomplish: Head up to Pluckmuckel and visit Nozzleford at the general store. Reward: Chestpiece of Glam Without much else to do and weaponless, head north to visit the town of Pluckmuckel and you'll encounter the army of orcs that beat you up and they'll tell you that they put your items in the dumpster. NEW MAIN QUEST: Main Quest: Recover Weapons Given by: Yourself, after you lost your weapons. Good job, "hero"! How to accomplish: Find yourself a functional sword, so you can chase the orcs away from the dumpster where they put all your things. Rewards: You get your stuff back In Pluckmuckel, you'll find your delivery people here and the mayor. You'll also find several shops that you can spend your hard earned gold at. You can deliver Nozzleford's package now for a new side quest. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Nozzleford Delivery Given by: Nozzleford How to accomplish: Deliver the package to Rich Cabin, north east of town by the swamp. Rewards: Trinket of Claws Well, without a sword you're a pretty sad hero, so go talk to the mayor who will say that you need a new weapon and advises that you visit Eubrick south of Pluckmuckel. NEW MAIN QUEST!: Main Quest: A new and mighty blade! Given by: The mayor of Pluckmuckel How to accomplish: Visit the ex-hero Eubrick, who is southwest of Pluckmuckel. The Hero will want you to do a few things for him first, so accomplish his quests to have him repair your broken sword. Rewards: A new sword! After talking to Eubrick, you'll find that the old hero wants a taco to part with his sword, bessie. Now pay attention to the KIND of taco he wants, as it differs with different playthroughs. Head back up to Tina, the taco vendor, and order a taco with the first three things eubrick wants. Eubrick will ALWAYS want a extra spicy taco, but Tina won't sell it to you, so to get around that make sure to combine your taco with pixie grass in your inventory screen to make it extra spicey, than talk to Eubrick who will fix your broken sword. NEW MAIN QUEST!: Main Quest: Get Eubrick a Taco Given by: Eubrick How to accomplish: Order a taco from Tina, the taco vendor, with exactly the first three ingrediants Eubrick wants. These vary on different playthroughs, so ask Eubrick again if you need to. Combine that taco with a pixie bush to make it spicy and give it to Eubrick. Reward: A new sword! You'll soon see a scene of Sgt. Orque delivering the artifact to Lord von Prong. It seems that von Prong wants Deathspank's purple thong much more than the artifact. Um... yeah.... Now talk to the mayor with your sword and he'll let you find the orphens, giving you a bag to carry them around with. There are also SEVERAL side quests you can do for people in the town, but first, the most important thing is to go back to the dumpster where all your stuff is and drive off the orcs with your sword. Check the dumpster and you'll get all your old stuff back. Hurrah! You'll also find a weapon's vendor in town, so if you've been grinding your gear you can probably find some nice weapons and armor. Now I'll list your new main quests, followed by the numerous side quests you can do. The main quests involve you rescueing eight orphens, each of which gets his or her own "quest" so the following list of quests will be LONG. Feel free to scroll down and check out the new side quests. NEW MAIN QUESTS!: Main Quest: Rescue Orphens Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to Accomplish: Rescue the eight missing orphens, check each orphen's quest for more info. Rewards: $100,000 Main Quest: Rescue Orphen Jimmy Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to Accomplish: You'll find Jimmy in the enchanted forest, right before the leper colony, in a cage. Kill the weak leprechaun's until you find the head honcho and kill him to get a key. Rewards: Part of the Rescue Orphens quest Main Quest: Rescue Orphen Sally Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to Accomplish: Sally is in the orc camp south past the demon gate to the east. She will also be in a cage. You'll need to take out Sgt. Orque, who is further up in the warcamp, to get the key. Rewards: Part of the Rescue Orphens quest Main Quest: Rescue Orphen Timmy Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to Accomplish: Get Ima and Strunken back together to take the orphen. Rewards: Part of the Rescue Orphens quest Main Quest: Rescue Annie the Orphen Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to Accomplish: Oh my god, what a pain Annie is! Head south east past eyeball path to enter another section of the demon mines. After navigating through the mines you'll have to battle the Nanny Demon, who you will have to defeat. THAN you will have to complete three MORE quests: Orphen wants a Lolly, Orphen wants a Cell Phone?, and Orphen wants a Pony!?!?!?. Sheesh. Rewards: Part of the Rescue Orphens quest Main Quest: Rescue Orphen Billy Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to Accomplish: You'll find Billy in a cage outside of von Prong's locked door. Rewards: Part of the Rescue Orphens quest Main Quest: Rescue Orphen Molly Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to Accomplish: Molly is the easiest orphen to find, simply head east out of Pluckmuckel and you'll find her. Rewards: Part of the Rescue Orphens quest Main Quest: Rescue Orphen Tiberius Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to Accomplish: You'll find Tiberius in a cage outside of von Prong's locked door. Rewards: Part of the Rescue Orphens quest Main Quest: Rescue Orphen Johnny Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to Accomplish: Drain the lake in the haunted forest to rescue Johnny. Rewards: Part of the Rescue Orphens quest Sheesh, here's the new side quests you can get right now: NEW SIDE QUESTS!: Side Quest: Recover the Lost Keys Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to accomplish: Head north of Pluckmuckel to the town dump, where you will find trash piles that you need to investigate. Investegating them spawns level 11 filthy chizards, which pack quite a punch, so be ready. You'll find on key in each pile, find four piles to complete. Rewards: Onyx helm of Glam Side Quest: Find Red Delicious Given by: The Guy with the Missing Bro How to accomplish: Head to the Pip-ravaged town, which is east and than north from Pluckmuckel, and than further north-west from Rich Cabins place. You'll notice the dirt mounds scatterd around the town (the same one's you have to search for the missing trunk for the lady), and you'll find Red in the western-most dirt mound. Kill everything around the mound, and than examine it. After talking to Red, a level 17 Pip Marauder will kill him and attack you. This is fairly easy with 2 players, but can be TOUGH on your own. You can use hit and run tactics and whittle him down. I strongly recommend being around level 13-14 and liberal use of the burning cleaver runestone. Also, have a good crossbow, such as the passable crossbow. Rewards: Gold Treasure Chest Key Side Quest: Queen of the Lake Given by: The Greem Exterminator How to accomplish: The exterminator will give you a greem whistle to lure out the greem queen near the greem lake mating stone. Teleport to the slimey outhouse and head east to get to the stone (where you killed the greem champion). The queen is level 15 and can kill you at level 10 in about two hits, meaning you'll need to use ranged attacks and hit-and-run a lot. If you have two players, this battle is a lot easier, as the wizard can take pot shots and use his double ability to take off huge chunks of health due to the explosion. You'll get the mating gland when she dies. Rewards: Undeath Bolts and another whistle for the Haunted Forest mating stone. Side Quest: Recover Eubrick's side-kick Given by: Eubrick How to accomplish: Travel east of Pluckmuckel and reach the eyeball trail. South west of the trail you'll find a cave with the spelunker nearby. Enter the cave to find the side-kick's journel. Rewards: Firebolts Well, we have a log of stuff we can do, don't we? The orphen quest will last us quite awhile, as there are a lot of them, but there's some things we can do quickly, such as finding the Mayor's lost keys and Eubrick's side-kick. You could also do the first Greem Exterminator quest, Queen of the Lake, but it can be hard if you're by yourself. Go ahead and do the easy quests now if you want to. Almost everything new is east of Pluckmuckel. You can keep going east at the fork to reach the new demon mine's area and eventually a gate that you can't pass. North leads to Rich Cabins, which has a swamp off to the east as well, with one of my favorite enemies, the swamp donkies. You can also find the pip-ravaged town west of rich cabins, as well as the noisy monastery north of rich cabins. The enchanted forest is south of the pip-ravaged town, just follow the road until you get to it. I personally visited rich cabin's first, to deliver Nozzleford's package, and also did the first mayor side quest and eubrick side quest. Once you turn in the mayor's side quest and eubrick's side quest, they'll each give you another one (Eubrick will give you two if you ask). I'll also list the next Greem quest, as you CAN accomplish the first one now. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Recycling 101: Tin Cans Given by: The Mayor of Pluckmuckel How to accomplish: These things are literally scattered throughout the land, and you'll be picking them up the entire game. There are more than fifty, I believe, so you can afford to miss one or two, but in general just explore the world and you'll find them. Rewards: 9840 gold Side Quest: Queen of the Haunted Forest Given by: The Greem Exterminator How to accomplish: Use the whistle near the greem mating stone in the zombie greem camp. Rewards: Stealth Potion, new whistle Side Quest: Grave Delivery Given by: Eubrick How to accomplish: Eubrick wants you to take his gravestone to the gravedigger in the Haunted Forest. You'll have to wait a bit to get there, but simply find the gravedigger in the graveyard to deliver the gravestone. Rewards: Nature Resistance Potion Side Quest: Finish off the Turtles Given by: Eubrick How to accomplish: Kill off the giant turtles that Eubrick failed to years ago. The turtles are south of the demon stones. You'll be hanging on to this quest for awhile until you can do it. Simply kill seven turtles to complete the quest. Rewards: Major Stealth Potion You probably also found the spelunker near eyeball trail if you did Eubrick's side-kick quest. This guy calls himself a spelunker but has too many phobia's to actually do his hobby! You'll meet him at different caves throughout the game, and each quest he gives will have you simply go into the cave next to him and recover the crystal in it. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Crystal Eyeball Given by: The Spelunker How to accomplish: Get the crystal in the eyeball cave next to the spelunker. Rewards: Gold Treasure Chest Key Ok, so let's take the north fork to the east of Pluckmuckel, where you'll find some new enemies called blinkers. These things are a bit annoying, as they can teleport around when you're fighting them. Using ranged attacks seems to make them just teleport more, so as annoying as they are stick to smacking them. Head east past the construction materials to find rich cabin and deliver your package to him. Rich is trying to develop some condo's, and has several side quests to give to you if you want. Honestly, the only thing you NEED to do is find the orphen in the enchanted forest, but let's plough through these quests, we'll need the experience. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Clear the Land Given by: Rich Cabins How to accomplish: Simply kill the blinkers around Rich. Only the adult one's count, but you'll find plenty of them around rich cabins, especially to the north east. Rewards: Major Healing Potion After turning that easy quest in, he'll give you a more challenging one. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Shhhhhhhhh Given by: Rich Cabins How to accomplish: As you've probably noticed, this area is a bit noisy. To fix that, Rich wants you to go destroy the "evil" bell in the monastery to the north. The monks aren't too much trouble, but each time you hit the bell, monks will spawn, and their attacks can add up. Rewards: Major Critical Potion Turn in that quest for yet another, even more challenging one. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Enchanted Wood Given by: Rich Cabins How to accomplish: So good old Rich needs wood for his cabins. This requires you to go to the enchanted forest and find the lumberjack camp, where you will find the wood just sitting around. The lumberjack camp is past the unicorn trail and west of the talking tree, and has many orcs working there. Rewards: Ice Bolts Well, we have some choices here, we can do the pip-ravaged town quests first or head to the enchanted forest to do rich's quests, and where we'll find the orphen and many other side quests. Well, let's do the pip-ravaged town first since it's closer. As you head to the town, or even when you were doing the quest Shhhhhhh, you'll pass a lady who's missing her trunk. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: The Pip and the Trunk Given by: Lady missing her trunk How to accomplish: The trunk is hidden randomly among the dirt mounds in the pip-ravaged town. Examine all the mounds to find it. Rewards: Helm of Howling Well, now we can knock out two side quests while we're at the pip-ravaged town. The pip squeaks aren't much of a problem, but the bigger ones are harder... you'll want to use hit and run tactics with your best bow to take care of them. Again, the burning cleaver rune will nearly kill a big pip, so make liberall use of it here. You'll get some good experience here too, which is good. Go ahead and take out all the pips that you can while doing the side quests The Pip and the Trunk and Find Red Delicious. The monster that spawns when you do Red Delicious is quite tough, so clear out all the pips nearby before examing the dirt mound to the extreme west. Use your bow and burning cleaver runestone to take the thing down. I recommend level 13-14 for this part. Once you turn in the Red Delicious quest, you'll get another side quest where you will blow up the houses in the pip-ravaged town. Fun! You can do it now and probably have very few big pips to worry about, assuming you wiped them out the first time through. Each bomb will spawn a big pip though, so do them one at a time if you need to. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Revenge on the Pips Given by: Guy with missing Bro How to accomplish: Use the C4 on all the houses in the pip-ravaged town. Each time you do a big pip will spawn, so be ready. Rewards: Gloves of Howling Well, now that we're done at the pip-ravaged town, let's go to the enchanted forest. Just follow the road south of the pip-ravaged town and cross the bridge to reach the forest. You'll encounter a leprechaun there with a new side quest for you. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Leprechaun in Disguise Given by: Worried Leprechaun How to accomplish: Follow the trail down through the enchanted forest until you find the lumberjack camp. Go east towards the talking tree where you'll find a cute little mushroom disguise for the leprechaun Rewards: Poison Bolts Now, if there's one thing you should be careful of in the enchanted forest, it's the unicorns. Yes, as odd as that sounds, stay on the path and they'll leave you alone. They're pretty much only at the very starting area, and you can always run away from them. As you head to the talking tree, you'll also pass the thongolith of justice, so feel free to do that quest as well. The guardians are level 15, so don't forget to block and heal. Also, there is a thongolith researcher in Pluckmuckel, just so you know! I recommend talking to the talking tree east of the lumberjack camp first. You'll also find the disguise for the Leprechaun by the tree. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: States Evidence Given by: Worried Leprechaun How to accomplish: Use the security key the leprechaun gave you in the enchanted cave to recover the states evidence that he wants. The enchanted cave is on the west side of the leper colony. Rewards: Major Armor Potion Side Quest: Cutting Edge Given by: The Talking Tree How to accomplish: Kill the orc's in the logging camp and collect their plaid shirts. Rewards: Boots of Howling Now you can go to town on the logging camp and you'll complete two side quests at once, collecting the wood for rich cabin and the shirts for the talking tree. The orc's are much easier to handle than the pips, but they can still pack a punch in numbers, so keep an eye on your health and use some justice when you can. Now, if you return the shirts to the tree, it will give you another side quest. Actually... sigh. It will give you a LOT of side quests. All of which require you finding items on the path to the leper colonly. I'm just going to list them all right here, seriously all you have to do is find them on the path heading west. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Sock Puppet Given by: The Talking Tree How to accomplish: Head to the left Rewards: Ice Bolts Side Quest: Story Time Given by: The Talking Tree How to accomplish: Head to the left Rewards: Poison Bolts Side Quest: A little prick Given by: The Talking Tree How to accomplish: Head to the left Rewards: Major Healing Potion Side Quest: Groovy Music Given by: The Talking Tree How to accomplish: Head to the left Rewards: Undeath Resistance Potion Side Quest: Mood Lighting Given by: The Talking Tree How to accomplish: Head to the left Rewards: Nature Resistance Potion Side Quest: Keep on Trucking Given by: The Talking Tree How to accomplish: Head to the left Rewards: Gargoyle Helm Wow, quite a few quests huh? Well since we're here, I guess we better save that orphen. Head south and take out the leprechaun's, who act a lot like the blinker's from earlier, so use normal melee attacks. To the west you'll find the enchanted cave with the spelunker nearby. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Enchanted Crystal Given by: The Spelunker How to accomplish: Cave, crystal, ding Rewards: Gold Treasure Chest Keys Head east from the cave to find the leprechaun head honcho, who isn't necissarily hard to your pip-slaying hero, but can stun you for awhile, so keep your health up. Upon defeating him you'll get a key to the orphen's cage as well as a new runestone, the Gallus Undeath runestone. Personally I prefer the Burning Cleaver, but oh well. Go up and have the future criminal get in the bag. You can now go back to Rich and give him the wood, as well as get another side quest. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Swamp Donkies Given by: Rich Cabin How to accomplish: Go down into the swamp near rich cabin's and kill the swamp donkies and collect their guts. Rewards: Undeath Bolts. The swamp donkies can pack a punch, plus there are more goo creatures which can explode and pack a punch as well. I like to soften up the donkies with my crossbow and than smack them, while taking care of the goo monsters with my crossbow. Down near the southern portion of the swamp you can find a gold treasure chest that has another runestone in it, the Zapping Chains runestone. I still prefer my Burning Cleaver. Rich will have one last quest for you when you go back. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: The back nine Given by: Rich Cabin How to accomplish: Go down into the swamp again and put up the golf flags on the holes. Each time you do some swamp donkies will spawn, so be ready. Rewards: Fire Bolts While exploring the swamp for the holes, you will also more than likely come across the spelunker again, which of course means you get another side quest. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Swamp Crystal Given by: The Spelunker How to accomplish: Once again, cave, crystal, done Rewards: Gold Treasure Chest Key Well, ok, now that we got all those things done let's go back to eyeball trail and head east towards the demon mines. Oh, you can stop by Pluckmuckel if you wish to spend some money. I seriously had about 400,000 dollars and was around level 16 by now, so if you find yourself like that, you can always visit the weapon vendor and buy some of the best armor in the game, the Dragon Slayer armor. I bought four pieces of the stuff (even though I couldn't equip it) and got the fifth pices after getting through the upcoming demon mines. Save at least 600 bucks for some upcoming quests. Speaking of the demon mines, check out the map when you enter the place and you'll see some pictures for some levers you gotta hit to make some bridges. The first one is to your right, so go hit the blue lever and make your way past the blue bridge. At the fork past the blue bridge, take the south path to get to the next lever, than return to the north path and go past the red bridge. Now go east and get the yellow switch to keep on going. Now you'll encounter the terrified Nanny Demon. Apparently Annie the orphen is quite a handful. The Nanny is level 14, and is quite stronger than most of the demon's you've fought so far, as she'll constantly shoot fire out at you and bring fire down upon you, as well as knocking you back every once in a while if you melee her. Since we did all those quests north of Pluckmuckel, the Nanny isn't too hard (I was around level 16 at this point). If you're having trouble, down a fire resistance potion and keep your potions handy and go to town. For beating the demon you get the key to the demon gate outside the mines as well as a new runestone, the Flaming Blade runestone, which I used to replace my Burning Cleaver one, as I love the spinning blade weapons. You'll now have to talk to the horror of orphen's, Annie... Annie is NOT going to go with you happily, giving you quite a few new main quests to do. Thankfully each quest requires you running to Pluckmuckel's general store and back. Also, the door next to you leads out to near where your weapons were dumped, so you can exit it and head north to Pluckmuckel for these quests. Orcs may try to ambush you sometimes, but they are nothing you can't handle. NEW MAIN QUEST!: Main Quest: Orphen wants a Lolly Given by: Annie the Orphen How to accomplish: Go get it from the Pluckmuckel General Store Rewards: Um.. Placating Annie? Main Quest: Orphen wants a Cell Phone? Given by: Annie the Orphen How to accomplish: Go get it from the Pluckmuckel General Store Rewards: Um.. Placating Annie? Main Quest: Orphen wants a pony!?!?!? Given by: Annie the Orphen How to accomplish: Go get it from the Pluckmuckel General Store Rewards: Um.. Placating Annie? Now you can FINALLY put the future criminal into the bag. We've done just about all we can do, so let's go to part three and move past the demon gate to the east. Part 3: The fall of von Prong.............DS02c Well, head down the path and you'll soon meet another poor citizen who needs your help. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Hit and Run Given by: Man who was Ambushed How to accomplish: You'll need to get the man's packages back. Simply follow the trail of packages that lead up to the orc war camp, where you might as well go crazy and take out the orcs. Return the packages to complete. Rewards: Demon Tooth The previous quest leads you to the nearby orc warcamp, which is a pretty fun place to fight at as long as you watch your health and retreat when you need to. You'll find Sgt. Orque up near the top of the areana, so save some justice for him too. He's actually pretty easy, he doesn't hit too hard and will constantly summon level four orcs to come help him, who are more of a nuisance than a threat. Once he dies he'll keep summoning them too. Poor guy doesn't know when to quit. When he dies he'll drop a key for a nearby orphen, as well as a new runestone, Geyser. Go back to the ambushed man if you wish for another side quest. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Escort Mission Given by: Man who was Ambushed How to accomplish: Lead the poor guy down the road to the beginning of the haunted forest. Rewards: Wait, what? Really? Well, I didn't see that coming. Well, anyways, here we are in the haunted forest area. First, go down the road and you'll see a chest, which is good, but above the chest is a spider, who once you kill will drop a runestone, Soul Splitter. I didn't really get a good look at the spider, but it didn't seem too special to me. Oh well. Nearby is a forest residence who has another quest! Oh boy! NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Whistle past the Grave Given by: Forest Resident How to accomplish: Go east and check to see if the grave digger is still alive. Rewards: Gold Treasure Chest Key Well, head east to not only complete the side quest, but also find the gravedigger alive and well in the graveyard. And yes, there's plenty of ghouls around for you to kill. Talk to the gravedigger to complete one of Eubrick's side quests as well as get a few new side quests. NEW SIDE QUEST!: Side Quest: Grave Business Given by: The gravedigger How to accomplish: Deliver the gravestone receipt to Eubrick. Rewards: Major Speed Potion Side Quest: Saving the Graveyard Given by: The gravedigger How to accomplish: Kill the ghouls scattered throughout the graveyard and bring their pelts to the gravedigger. |
