In order to free Rydell from his cell you'll need to continue onward to 3-2. When you
reach the first "elevator" leading to the first chain tower you'll see a straiway leading
up, follow it. If you have PWWT (Pure White World Tendency) a key will be on one of the
corpses.

Backtrack to 3-1 and free Rydell, by doing so the gate on the 2nd floor East will have
been unlocked. That's how you reach the remaining cells.

The rubble blocking your path will also have cleared once you reach PWWT.

If you have attacked Rydell, even by accident, the door on 2F East will remain locked
until your next playthrough.

If you have died in bodyform, on this Level, chances are you wont reach PWWT on this
playthrough (if it's your first) so you'll most likely have to wait until your NG+ to have
a chance to complete this side quest.

Bear in mind you can skip this floor to continue to the outside and on with the Level.

Thanks for that answer which I'll see about when I go there again. I didn't see any key on
a body as I've tried with 4 characters that went to the 2 towers and will report on my
finding?

deoraven I can't find the key as I didn't find any body, but it may be I didn't get his
cell to unlock and I've tried several characters with the same results.

As to my PWWT it is not up to that so how do I increase my standings do you know?

I encountered this problem as a beginner in my latest character as I was going down the
first stairs in the beginning level after I defeated the 1st massive monster so I'm still
stuck.

I went through the whole thing to get to the towers, but I've got only half white and
black for "PWWT" so what do I do as it took some effort to reach that point and I got
zip?

What do you mean by Play Through , deoraven?

The only way to increase your world tendency is by defeating bosses. You start off as
neutral, it takes 3 bosses to reach PWWT, but everytime you die in bodyform your WT drops
by one. So if you ever died in Latria in bodyform you'll have to wait for your next
playthrough.

So if you haven't died yet in bodyform in world 3, then continue till you finish world 3
and return to check if the key has appeared. Should you happen to die along the way
quickly press the PS button and quit the game using the controller, if done faste enough
the game will not have saved your death.

In case you didn't know, once you finish the game you can start a new playthrough with the
same character, all your items wepaons etc, except for keys will remain in your inventory.
The game also gets tougher as you progress through the NG+'s.

They should have explained that as I've gone through the things and nothing seemed to have
changed from the ealier period
