Secret - Bring your Mojave followers with you in the DLCs!!!

by deoraven Aug 24, 2011

There is a way to make your followers from the Mojave join you in the DLCs.

1- You'll HAVE TO do the multiple followers glitch. The glitch is, in a nutshell, have Veronica as a follower, after visiting specific places she'll start a conversation with you tell her "not now" and then fire her. Go recruit another humanoid follower, then return to the 188 trading post and speak with Veronica. Choose the option "what did you want to talk about earlier?" and tell to go by herself to the hidden valley TWICE. That will open up another slot for a humanoid follower, go recruit someone else and rinse and repeat to get as many followers as you please.

2- Choose a DLC mission, go to the destination on your map. When you'll be "transported" to the DLC area you'll lose 1 or 2 followers, but the others will join you once the opening scene of the DLC is completed.

3- Once you have finished the DLC, if only one follower was fired you can go back to where he/she is and re-hire him/her on the spot. If 2 were fired then you'll need to fire Veronica and repeat the dialogue pattern with her to open up a slot for that 2nd follower.

NOTES: The way the glitch works in Dead Money and Old World Blues is that the game will automatically fire 1 or 2 of your followers when you'll be "transported" to the DLC area. In Honest Hearts you'll be forced to manually dismiss your followers in order to continue. However, you only need to fire your "active" follower(s), which is what the game does automatically with the other 2 DLCs. Your extra followers aren't considered "active" which is what causes the glitch in the first place. One way to find out which followers are active is to go to the Lucky 38 penthouse, the area is for the player only and your "active" followers aren't allowed up there, so the ones that WILL follow you to the penthouse are also the same ones who will follow you to Zion. For those who might not have access to the penthouse you can save your game before firing your follower, then speak with Jed to see if the one you fired was the "active" one, if not then fire another and talk to Jed again until you have the option to continue with the questline. Then simply reload and dismiss only the last follower you fired.

This can be further exploited in Dead Money, since all your gear is stripped from you at the start of the DLC, you can simply stash your gear on a follower and retrieve it once you've arrived at the Villa. That way you won't have to...

Glitch - Agility Stat Boost!!

by deoraven Jul 26, 2011

For this to work you'll need to have downloaded "Dead Money".

1) At the Sierra Madre villa or casino make sure you find the holotape for returning pre-war casualwear to the vending machine. There are many scattered around the villa and casino.

2) Find any pre-war casualwear (and any other variant of pre-war clothing that adds +1 to agility) and bring it to the veniding machine.

3) Equip the pre-war clothes and select to turn it in to the vending machine. The machine will take your clothes but the +1 agility boost will remain, you can keep doing this as much as you please.

NOTES: Even if you completed "Dead Money" you can still do this, return to the abandoned bunker and turn in the clothes there.

Although the max agility that will show on your pip-boy is 10, if you keep doing this glitch you should still receive the benefits to sneak (and other stats) as well as total AP.

Code - All Humanoid Followers!!!

by deoraven Jul 25, 2011

There is a way to have all humanoid followers in your group at the same time.

1) Recruit Veronica at the 188 trading post (as long as you are not hated by the brotherhood she'll join).

2) Visit the places that will trigger her personal quest. There are 9 in total but some of these are one-time triggers only. However 3 of them are permanent triggers and you only need to visit 3 places to trigger her quest.

These are : The main doors at Camp McCarran, there are 3 doors near Colonel Hsu's office, walk near those three doors and Veronica will say something like there are more troops here than the brotherhood thought.

The ramp to the entrance of Vault 3, walk down the ramp (no need to go inside the vault) and Veronica will say something like the fiends are giving the NCR more trouble than the brotherhood.

Nelson or Cottonwood Cove, these two places share the same trigger so going to both will not count for 2 triggers. Simply go there and wait about 30 seconds and Veronica will say something like badly equipped soldiers are taking over the Mojave.

3) After the 3rd trigger Veronica will start a conversation with you (you might have to wait 30 seconds or talk to her yourself if she doesn't approach you) she'll ask you if you have time to talk, tell her NOT NOW. After that, fire her and send her back to the 188.

4) Go and recruit any other humanoid follower (boone, cass, raul, lily or Arcade) then return to Veronica at the 188 and ask her "what is it you wanted to talk about earlier" she'll ask you to take her to the hidden valley, tell her to go by herself, she'll insist but tell her again that you are busy and to go by herself. At this point you'll lose Veronica's companion perk which means a slot opened up and you can recruit another humanoid follower.

5) After recruiting your follower of choice repeat step 4 to open up another companion slot, repeat this until you have all humanoid companions (except Veronica).

6) Once you have all humanoid companions or have the ones you want return to 188 and repeat step 4, another slot will open but this time speak to Veronica again and tell her you want to travel with her to recruit her.

NOTES: even if you blew up the BoS bunker this can still be done since Veronica is oblivious to your actions.

This won't work if you are hated by the BoS, since Veronica will refuse to join you.

With the addition of the DLCs, your companions are automatically fired upon entering an area part of...

Glitch - Equip faction armor to ANY follower!!!

by deoraven Jul 25, 2011

There is a way to equip any faction armor on any follower.

1) You'll need 6 or more of the SAME armor and they have to be in the SAME condition. For example, if you want to equip Desert Ranger combat armor on Cass, you'll need 6 or more Desert Ranger combat armors, then take them to a vendor and have them all repaired so they'll be in the same condition.

2) Make sure the armor you want to equip is stacked in your inventory. Example: Desert Ranger combat armor (6). Open your followers inventory and select the armor in question. You should then have a slider indicating how many you wish to give to your follower select 1 and you'll notice that this way the armor remains in his/her inventory and will be equipped if its the best armor they have to choose from.

NOTES: The reason you'll need 6 or more is because at 5 or lower you do not have the slider to choose how many you wish to hand over to your follower therefore you hand them over one by one, doing so will make them "drop" the armor and they won't equip it any other way.

After going to a vendor and paying for repairs the armors might still appear individually in your inventory, if this happens you'll need to find the appropriate armors to repair them with to 100% condition, as you do this they will stack up in your inventory. Also, if you already have a healthy supply of armors you can save some caps by making the repairs yourself.

Remember that when you'll take away the armor from your follower it WON'T stack up with the rest. The same applies if you have 5 or fewer of the same armor and you put them in storage, since you won't have the slider to indicate how many you wanna drop you'll store them one by one and they will not be able to stack anymore. Unless of course you wear them and damage them, then repair them all again.

Code - Unlimited Caps

by deoraven Oct 29, 2010

I'll start with an easy one.....Fallout 3 players will surely remember this one.

Go to any vendor and check his/her inventory. If you see that the vendor has 2 or more of the same weapon (10mm pistol, caravan shotgun etc.) then buy the cheapest one of the 2 and sell it right back. Then without exiting the screen, re-buy it and re-sell it again. Do this about 2-3 times and suddenly you'll notice the weapon is not only at 100% condition but you can also sell it at the max price. Keep buying and selling it to buy everything you need from the vendor for free!!

Alternatively, you can sell one version of the same weapon that the vendor has and the trick will still work. For some reason, say you have a 9mm smg and the vendor has 2 or more, when you'll buy one it won't show up in your inventory. You'll have to either drop the one you already have or sell it to the vendor in order to be able to sell the "glitched" version.

For some reason in NV, this trick doesn't always work with armor.

This can also be a very efficient way to "repair" your common weapons. Simply sell the vendor your damaged weapon and keep the "glitched" version.

Code - Easy Kills, Free Gear, No Consequences!

by Unregistered Aug 15, 2011

If you buy or find a Anti-Materiel Rifle, buy one flammable bullet (can't remember the name) and enter V.A.T.S on a target. When you exit V.A.T.S, the target will ignite, and their health will decrease. You can continue to enter and exit V.A.T.S and the targets health will continue to go down. When the target eventually dies, your reputation with the faction will not be affected.

Enjoy this trick :)

You can use it on N.C.R veterans and get good gear :)

Code - Steal All 37 Gold Bars In

by haracka1867 Feb 09, 2011

Note: You will need a few C4 and a Detonator for this exploit. In the final part of the game you will enter a vault with 37 gold bars weighing 35 pounds each. Each gold bar is worth 10.539 caps. Clearly you can not take them all -- unless you use this exploit.

Enter the vault and the door will seal behind you. Take everything in the room that you want to including the 36 gold bars on the table to your right and the 1 gold bar on the overseers desk. Deactivate the security system and activate the computer on the desk. IMPORTANT: Only read "Vera", DO NOT access the file that shows up after you read it. Elijah will appear on the monitor, convince him to meet you in the vault. When the conversation ends leave the room immediately (it unlocks), and walk to the far right stairway. A blue force field will appear blocking your path, lay your C4 at the bottom of those stairs and then press your body against the blue force field in the doorway. When Elijah finishes speaking, for some reason you and he switch places. (You'll see what I mean) Make sure he is on or very near your C4. Detonate and leave the way you came. Congratulations you now have 37 Gold Bars worth a total of 389.943 Caps.

Secret - Win Big at Caravan

by stupidtv32 Dec 23, 2010

You can stack the deck in your favor to win at Caravan virtually every time. A Caravan deck has a minimum of 30 cards -- which you can buy from merchants or find on dead bodies -- so you need to choose those that will get you between 22 and 26 consistently while also giving you defensive cards to use against your opponent.

Here's a great setup. Take these cards with you:

10s
9s
8s
7s
6s
Kings
Jacks
Aces
2 Jokers

Jacks, Aces and Jokers are defensive plays. Use Jacks to remove cards from your opponent. Ace and Joker played will remove all cards of your Ace's suit (an Ace of Spades and Joker will remove all spades from the table). Kings will double whatever they are placed on. Optimally, 6+K+K = 24.

Here's how to play to win: To open, lay down your highest or lowest cards first to start the 'base' of your caravan. 10+9+8=27 so don't use this combination. 6+7+8=21 so don't use this either (unless you put your Ace down after the 8 to make 22). But every play between is a winner. As stated above, 6+K+K=24 is also a winner. Using this strategy, you are virtually guaranteed to win each hand of caravan, no matter how high your luck!

You can accumulate nearly unlimited items and caps by playing Caravan. Seek out vendors with lots of cash and items. Buy all the items you can afford off them, then challenge them to a few games of Caravan and win back all your money!

Secret - Kill People with No Consequences

by vichi65 Dec 14, 2010

You can kill people without making them hostile or damaging your reputation. Pick up a barrel or any large object you push or pick up. Drop it next to a standing NPC that isn't leaning against a wall, doing push ups, or sitting on ground or in a chair. Run against the barrel or large moveable object, it will damage the NPC without becoming hostile and losing reputation. However, it can damage you a little and might send the object flying. I would recommend trying it on stationary targets until you get used to this trick. Note: Heavier armored or tougher NPCs will take a while to kill with this method.

If you head south on the road out of Goodsprings (about 100 yds) you will come across a refrigerator at the base of a hill with a skeleton inside. On the skeletons head? A fedora. This is a reference to the latest (lamest?) Indiana Jones movie The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Unlockable - Unique Armor

by cGub Nov 11, 2010
Unlockable:How to unlock:
T-51b Power ArmorArmor or to be precise armors are located near HELIOS 1 . From there head west towards the cliffs. From the cliffs turn left and head to a small canyon, which by the way is full of scorpions, that leads to a "Scorpion gulch". There you have 2 options up left or up right. Up left is Brotherhood of Steels camp, but we head up right. When you detect small amounts of radiation you're close. Kill a few centaurs that are leaching the radiation and you see a possible meteor crater with large amounts of radiation. At the bottom you see two(2) dead Brotherhood of Steel Paladins who wear T-51b Power Armors. Armors are in pretty bad shape, but after repairing them you own possibly best armor of the game.
Chinese Stealth ArmorThe Chinese stealth armor can be found in the Hoover Dam offices. It's in the room with the toxic barrels and green goop. Once you see the room, turn to your left. You should see a bunch of wooden crates. Inside one of these crates is two sets of Chinese Stealth Armor. Both weigh 20.00. Unfortunately, the invisibility thing the armor does in Fallout 3, is gone now -- all it does is give you +5 sneak.

Unlockable - Unique Weapons

by cGub Oct 28, 2010

Each weapon type in Fallout 3 has a unique weapon with special capabilities. Here is a list of where you can find these unique weapons.

Unlockable:How to unlock:
Thump ThumpAt Nelson, after you get into the base, help the leader with the ant problem. Once your down there, look for two generators. Don't go to them, but go right to the other side to find a skeleton with the Thump Thump and around 20 or 30 rounds
The Rat SlayerIn Freeside, go to The Atomic Wrangler Bar and talk to the female bartender. Ask about getting a room, but instead of paying the 10 caps, ask if you could work out a deal. She will give you a quest in which you have to collect the debt of 3 people throughout Freeside. One the them is named Lady Jane and can be found by the entrance to New Vegas in the day. When you question her about her debt she will say she doesn't have the money, but a carvan of her's in a place called Broc Flower Cave does. If your Speech/Barter is high enough you can convince her to cough the money up, but for the sake of the weapon you will want to go to the cave. She will warn you about the Rodents of Unusual Size (A Princess Bride refrence). Once you arrive at the cave go down the path to the right. A dead Brahmin on the left of the irradiated dead end has the money. To the right is a semi-hidden passageway upward to to 2 or 3 R.O.U.Ses and a stockpile of supplies including The Rat Slayer, an unique Varmint Rifle.

Secret - Don't Get Caught Stealing

by cGub Oct 27, 2010

1.You have to be somewhere where there is a spot out of the line of sight of all the surounding NPC's.
2.Figure out a good spot to hide in and save your game.
3.Click the right stick while you have selected the item you want to steal, but do not press the A button to steal it.
4.This will allow you to safely carry the item to your designated hiding spot.
5.Now crouch and when it says [HIDDEN] you can steal it without losing reputation, or having an NPC attack you.

You may lose karma so try it once to make sure you won't have an undesired karma effect. A great place for this trick would be the Van Graff energy weapon shop. You can do this with any of the items on the counter and there is a hiding spot on the back side of the room.Enjoy!

In Freeside, go to the Old Mormon Fort. Seek out Julie Farkes inside the Fort. Choose the dialogue option to help them get medical supplies. Unlockable - Unlimited experience

by cGub Oct 27, 2010

This requires at least a 35 Medicine skill. Once your character gains access to the main strip, find Victor outside the Lucky 38 casino. He will tell you that Mr. House wants to meet you. Follow him inside and go up the elevator. Speak with Mr. House (the giant television face that looks like Howard Hughes). Find the dialogue choice pertaining to needing to ask him a few questions. Then, ask "Who exactly are you, Mr. House?", then select "You appear to be a computer, not a man". After that, select the Medicine skill check response, "The lifespan you're claiming is impossible, except for ghouls and super mutants." After that, you will be awarded 35 experience points (or 39 experience points if you have the Swift Learner perk). You can repeat this as many times as desired.

Unlockable - Monorail entry

by cGub Oct 27, 2010

In Camp McCarran where the monorail directly to the strip is located, you can gain entry to the monorail. Take the long way around and stay as close to the vending machines as possible. Follow the wall around the back way. Make sure the other soldier has his back to you. Crouch and sneak up to this soldier. You may hear the phrase indicating that if you get any closer they will have to shoot you. However, as long as you remain hidden, it may flash "Detected" briefly for a few times. As soon as you are close enough to the door, you can go through it and take a monorail directly to the strip. This may require a few attempts. Be careful when returning to the monorail from the strip. You will probably be shot. However as soon as you enter the monorail it resets, and you can again ride it back to the strip. By using this trick you can bypass many annoyances and quests, and can skip directly to meeting Mr. House and finding the person who shot you.
